00:00Good morning. A cold start out there with a risk of some icy stretches. There will be plenty of dry weather throughout today though, some sunshine for some of us in fact.
00:10But we've seen any snow overnight across parts of Scotland, a risk of some icy stretches throughout this morning as well as across parts of Northern Ireland, Wales and the Midlands too.
00:19So do take care if you're travelling this morning. Across eastern areas of England there'll be a few showers through the day, some of these sleety in nature, but for most of us it will be a dry day.
00:29And for some there will be some sunshine. I think a large swathe of northern areas of England, southern Scotland, eastern Scotland as well will see plenty of dry and bright weather.
00:39If you are heading out there you will want a few layers because it is another chilly one out there.
00:44The winds are relatively light however so there's not too much in the way of wind chill but yes you'll certainly want to be wrapping up if you're heading out this afternoon to enjoy some of that drier weather.
00:55Now it doesn't last long as there is some wet weather on the way for Sunday. In fact it could bring some snow. There is a warning in force for many northern areas.
01:06That's because it will turn very cold ahead of this band of rain. Widespread frost expected across many eastern areas and early frost perhaps across some western areas on Saturday evening.
01:17But the cloud will thicken as the night goes on and as this band of rain bumps into the cold air well that's when we get that risk of snow.
01:25It's predominantly over the highest ground. You could see 10 to 20 centimetres accumulating over 200 metres.
01:32We could see 5 centimetres to lower levels for a time.
01:35It will quite quickly melt however as that snow turns to rain and the temperatures rise throughout Sunday afternoon.
01:43So a transient risk of snow but could still bring some disruption if you are heading out on Sunday morning.
01:49Do check before you travel. You may need to change your plans.
01:53As I said it is turning milder. The temperatures will be on the rise into the afternoon into double digits.
01:58We've not seen that in a little while but the winds also pick up and you can see those bright colours denoting some very heavy bursts of rain on Sunday.
02:07So I think wherever you are you're likely to get caught in some rain whether that be snow to start with across northern areas.
02:14So there is a warning in force. Please check out the details to see if you're in that warning area for Sunday.
02:19You can find that on our app and website. Otherwise have a great weekend and I'll see you again soon.
