00:00Hello there, good evening. The wet and windy weather is not over yet. Storm Austin affected
00:06many of us today and soon as we progress into the weekend we have another storm, Storm
00:11Boulow, which will push towards the northwest of the country with multiple Met Office warnings
00:16in force over the next couple of days. So I just want to start off by going through those
00:20because there are still warnings out for later today. Wind warnings across much of Wales,
00:26southern areas of England and also a rain warning still in force across southern and eastern
00:30areas of Scotland. We have also seen an upgrade in some warnings this morning across areas
00:35of Scotland. A wind warning has been upscaled to amber for much of Scotland where we can
00:40expect wind speeds of 70, possibly 80 miles per hour as the storm pushes its way eastwards
00:46across these areas. Even Northern Ireland, northern areas of England and elsewhere across Scotland
00:51we can expect some very wet and windy weather to come all the way through Saturday and
00:56into parts of Sunday as well. Back to this evening and Storm Austin has progressed its
01:01way eastwards later today. So there will still be some wet and windy weather for a time but
01:07a lot of that rain will eventually clear to the east through the early hours of the morning.
01:11And it's almost the calm before the storm. Many areas will turn dry, winds will turn lighter.
01:17There will be some patchy cloud in places but also some clearer spells, particularly across
01:21the north and that's where temperatures are soon going to dip away. Many towns and cities pushing
01:25down to the mid to low single figures. And under any clear skies, particularly in Scotland and where
01:30we see lighter winds we could even see a patchy frost. Notice to the west though it's a very different
01:35story with outbreaks of rain just about pushing into Northern Ireland through Saturday morning.
01:40Also a few showers pushing into parts of southwest England, southern areas of Wales and through the course of the
01:45morning those winds will pick up more and more. Not only is it going to be windy, it is going
01:50to be
01:50very wet and we'll gradually see the more unsettled weather push in from the west through the course of
01:55the morning. Eastern areas of the UK holding on to the dry weather for that little bit longer in the
01:59morning but by the afternoon most of us will have seen some rain, some quite heavy rain in places.
02:05This is likely to cause some localised flooding, some spray on the roads leading to
02:10difficult driving conditions. Now the storm is situated towards the northwest so rather than
02:16Storm Austin bringing stronger winds towards the south, actually Storm Bulow brings a lot of those
02:20stronger winds towards Northern Ireland, Scotland and northern areas of England. By Saturday afternoon
02:25we could see wind speeds of 50, 60 miles per hour, possibly even higher. It does also bring in some
02:31slightly milder air so temperatures for England and Wales could push up into the mid-teens and places
02:36but obviously it's going to feel very unpleasant in the wind and rain. Let's take a look at the
02:41winds in that little bit more detail. As you notice towards the northwest where that storm really
02:46pushes through, although much of the UK will see some gusty weather, it's really where we see those
02:51darker pink colours across Scotland, Northern Ireland, northern areas of England where we're expecting the
02:55strongest winds and especially overnight through into Sunday as well, Scotland could pick up wind speeds of
03:0270, possibly 80 miles per hour, especially in those exposed areas. So that's why an amber warning has
03:08been issued for later Saturday through into Sunday for many of these areas. The weather itself, yes,
03:15it will continue to be rather wet later into the evening but a lot of that rain once again will
03:19clear
03:19its way eastwards. As that low pressure continues to sit towards the north, there's still going to be a lot
03:24of
03:24rain here, some heavy spells of rain, possibly with some hail and thunder, especially across Scotland,
03:29northern Ireland, northern areas of England. Slightly drier towards the south and slightly milder too,
03:35temperatures around 10 to 11 degrees, though we can expect some showers here and it is still going
03:40to be rather blustery. Now as we progress through Sunday, once again the storm will eventually clear,
03:47but across the north it's still going to remain very wet and windy for quite a lot of the day,
03:52especially across Scotland where we do have the amber warning in force through much of the day and even
03:56outside of the amber warning area there still remains a yellow wind warning across many areas
04:01of the northern half of the UK. Now notice a lot of that heavy rain will ease away but there
04:06are still
04:07going to be some heavy blustery showers across the northern half of the UK, but to the south of this
04:12across much of England and Wales it'll actually turn a lot drier by the afternoon but it's still going to
04:16be blustery and take a look at those temperatures as well, only getting up to really around 10 to 13
04:22degrees,
04:22perhaps slightly higher across some areas of the southeast, but in that wind and especially
04:27amongst the rain first thing in the morning it is certainly going to feel unpleasant.
04:32Now as we progress into next week, well we still have a very strong jet stream acting like a bit
04:38of
04:39a conveyor belt for areas of low pressure towards the Atlantic, so it's likely even for the first part
04:44of the week we could see low pressure still very much dominating our weather, so likely to see more
04:49spells of very wet and windy weather not long after two storms from today and also into Saturday,
04:56so it's likely that there could possibly be some more Met Office warnings issued, so of course stay
05:01up to date with the latest forecast and you can always do that with us here on YouTube.
