06 May - National Evening forecast presented by Annie Shuttleworth
Transcript
00:00Hello, good evening. Should be a warmer day for most of us tomorrow, but tonight there
00:05is another frost expected. This time for parts of northeastern England in particular. This
00:09is where the skies will remain the clearest. Up towards the north and west, where it was
00:13quite chilly last night, we've got low pressure moving in, so that means more in the way of
00:17cloud and some outbreaks of showery rain, particularly across parts of western and northern
00:21Scotland. Elsewhere, it should remain dry, although there is a risk of the odd shower
00:26here and there across some coastal areas. So, for most of us, a dry night. And where those
00:32skies remain the clearest, that's where we will see the temperatures fall away the lowest,
00:35particularly northeastern England. That's where we're expecting a touch of ground frost through
00:39the day, but also parts of the Midlands could see a rural frost. Elsewhere, though, low single
00:44figures to start the day. So, quite a fresh start considering the time of year, but it
00:50should be a relatively dry and bright day on Thursday. And as I said, warmer than today
00:55at least, particularly across eastern areas. We've got more of a southwesterly wind throughout
01:00Thursday, a different direction to today and a warmer direction for those eastern areas.
01:05So, here, temperatures should climb towards the mid-teens quite widely across parts of northern
01:10and eastern England. Across the west, though, slightly fresher day, particularly where the
01:14winds strengthen across the north and west. Could see some outbreaks of heavy showers into
01:20the afternoon here. Also, a risk of the odd share across north, western England, parts
01:24of west Wales as well through the afternoon. But for most of us, a dry and bright day.
01:30Now, the skies do clear once again through Thursday evening, so a relatively fresh night
01:35to come once again. I think frost will be pretty limited by Friday morning, but it is going to
01:40be a fresh start to the day once again. Clouds still lingering across more northwestern areas.
01:46It's a pretty slow-moving weather front that just continues to bring quite a lot of cloud
01:49parts of northern Ireland as well as eastern Scotland through Friday morning. So, through
01:55Friday for these areas, it's going to be quite a cold and damp day. Elsewhere, though, further
02:00south, plenty of sunshine around to start the day at least. It's going to be a warmer day
02:04on Friday, but that will allow some quite heavy outbreaks of rain to develop from the south.
02:11These will develop into the afternoon, building up as we head towards the early evening. There's
02:15a little bit of uncertainty around where exactly these showers will be, but it's worth knowing
02:20there is a risk of a heavy downpour through Friday afternoon. Now, if you don't get caught
02:25in one of those downpours, which many of us won't, well, it's going to feel warmer. Temperatures
02:29approaching 20 degrees across southern areas, and it will feel much warmer across many parts
02:35of the Midlands into the southwest of the UK as well. So, quite a split picture through Friday.
02:41Quite cold for the time of year in the north. Actually, quite a lot warmer in the south. And that's
02:45split continues into Saturday as well. It stays milder across more southern areas. But meanwhile,
02:52in the north, we get this cold air moving in, and that becomes more widespread into Sunday
02:57as well. So, a cold weekend is expected, particularly for more northern areas. Now,
