Let's check in with Rochelle for more tonight's weather forecast.
00:03
Thanks, Deesha. Good evening, Trinidad and Tobago. Let's get right to your weather.
00:08
Let's talk about last night. Some of you felt it and some did not.
00:12
But I can guarantee you, you weren't going crazy.
00:16
A trio of light earthquakes were recorded northwest of Trinidad.
00:21
The first quake at magnitude 4.4 struck at 9.38 p.m.
00:26
approximately 127 kilometers west-northwest of Port of Spain.
00:32
This quake was widely reported felt across northern, central and western parts of Trinidad.
00:39
Mere minutes later at 9.42 p.m., a magnitude 4.2 earthquake struck
00:45
in a similar location, 130 kilometers west-northwest of Port of Spain again.
00:51
This quake was also widely reported felt across Trinidad.
00:54
With shaking lasting approximately 10 to 20 seconds.
00:59
And the third earthquake was recorded at 10.01 p.m.
01:04
This magnitude 4.0 earthquake was recorded 125 kilometers west of Port of Spain.
01:12
This quake was not widely reported felt,
01:14
but a few felt reports across northern and northwestern Trinidad.
01:19
And here's what happened today.
01:21
A broad area of light to moderate rainfall with embedded widely scattered heavy
01:26
to intense pockets and isolated thunderstorms occurred between the central and northern range of Trinidad.
01:34
An isolated heavy shower also moved into the Toko Peninsula near Kumana.
01:39
These cells drifted generally westward.
01:42
Over in Tobago, a few brief isolated showers cleared parts of southwest Tobago
01:47
with a renewed round of activity occurring late afternoon.
01:51
Although the high wind alert has been discontinued,
01:55
occasional strong wind gusts, particularly near eastern coastal regions and southern Trinidad, remain likely.
02:02
Let's take a look now at conditions in Port of Spain currently.
02:06
We have light rain and temperatures at 24 degrees and winds coming from the east at 6 kilometers.
02:13
We have humidity at 100%.
02:15
And over in Tobago, there's also some light rain with temperatures at 27 degrees,
02:21
with winds coming northeast at 11 kilometers per hour and humidity is at 83%.
02:27
Now, tonight, I hope you have your comforters or an extra blanket ready
02:33
because conditions will get a bit chilly as occasional showers are likely through the night
02:38
with settled periods in between.
02:40
We have thunderstorm activity coming at a medium rate
02:45
with minimum temperatures at 24 degrees in Trinidad and 24 also in Tobago.
02:50
And if you're hoping for better conditions tomorrow, you can't forget about it.
02:55
According to the Met Office, tomorrow will have variable cloud cover with periods of scattered showers.
03:01
There's a medium chance of isolated thunderstorm activity, especially over Trinidad.
03:06
Conditions should settle by evening apart from the odd lingering showers.
03:11
Tomorrow's maximum temperatures are coming in at 31 degrees in Port Islands.
03:15
But we will see an improvement in conditions for the next couple of days.
03:20
In our two-day forecast on Friday, expect a mix of sunny and cloudy periods with scattered showers
03:26
and a medium chance of thunderstorm activity, especially over western areas,
03:31
with minimum temperatures of 32 degrees in Trinidad and 31 in Tobago on Friday.
03:37
And Saturday will be the same, however, giving us maximum temperatures of 33 degrees in Trinidad
03:44
and 32 in Tobago.
03:46
And here's when the sun plans to rise and shine and say goodbye.
03:52
Sunrise is at 6.03 in Trinidad and 6 o'clock in Tobago
03:56
and will set at 5.39 in Trinidad and 5.35 over in Tobago.
04:01
With all the rain that occurred today and expected tomorrow, I doubt a beach line is on your mind.
04:08
But let's still check in on our seas.
04:10
Seas are moderate with waves 1.5 metres to 2 metres in open waters
04:13
and below 1 metre or occasionally choppy in sheltered areas.
04:18
It's now time for your Thai times.
04:31
That's all for weather tonight.
04:33
Happy International Men's Day.
04:35
We love you, we appreciate you and we need you.
04:38
The world is a better place with you guys in it.
04:41
It's now time for a quick break, but stay right where you are
04:43
because there's more news when we come back.
