Thank you, Disha. Good evening, Trinidad and Tobago. I'm Rochelle Edwards with the details on your weather.
00:06
We're starting off with what happened internationally today.
00:10
A massive 8.8 magnitude earthquake off Russia's far eastern coast sent tsunami waves into Japan, Hawaii and the U.S. west coast this morning.
00:20
The earthquake, which hit near Russia's Kamchatko Peninsula, is believed to be one of the most powerful ever recorded.
00:27
Several people are said to have been injured, but there were no immediate reports of fatalities.
00:33
More than 2 million people across the Pacific were ordered to evacuate, but most tsunami warnings have since been downgraded.
00:41
Alerts were also issued in China, the Philippines, Indonesia, New Zealand and even as far as Peru, Chile and Mexico.
00:49
Now this is very unfortunate news. Let's keep those affected in our prayers.
00:53
Moving on to conditions back at home, in Portisbane presently, TV6's weather center says,
00:59
downtown is mostly clear with temperatures at 32 degrees Celsius and winds coming east at 6 knots.
01:05
We also have humidity at 62%.
01:08
Looking at conditions tonight, tonight will be generally fair with minimum temperatures in Trinidad at 23 degrees Celsius
01:15
and in Tobago, it's at 25 degrees Celsius.
01:18
Now those generally fair conditions will continue into tomorrow.
01:23
The Met Office is forecasting some isolated showers as well.
01:27
There's a low to medium chance of isolated heavier showers favoring southern Trinidad.
01:32
Maximum temperatures are forecasted to be 32 degrees in Trinidad and 31 in Tobago.
01:38
Taking a sneak peek into our weekend, Friday's conditions will be party cloudy, eventually becoming cloudy
01:45
and it will be accompanied by some isolated showers.
01:48
There is a low to medium chance of that isolated heavier shower thunderstorm favoring southern and western Trinidad
01:55
during the afternoon to be exact.
01:58
Now as the evening progresses, cloudiness will increase and accompanied by the occasional shower.
02:04
Hoping that Saturday will be any better?
02:06
Well, I'm afraid not.
02:08
Saturday will be cloudy with light to moderate periods of rain and the medium chance that some of these showers may be heavy and thundery.
02:16
Conditions should settle by evening, despite some lingering showers.
02:20
Maximum temperatures on Friday are 31 degrees in Trinidad and 30 in Tobago.
02:25
And on Saturday, temperatures are 30 degrees in both Trinidad and Tobago.
02:31
Despite conditions internationally, our seas remain moderate.
02:35
So seas all moderate with waves up to 1.5 meters in open waters and below 1 meter in sheltered areas.
02:42
Let's take a look at our sun time.
02:44
Sunrise is at 5.54 in Trinidad and it will set at 6.30.
02:49
Over in Tobago, sunrise is at 5.50 and it will set at 6.27.
02:54
Here are your tide times.
02:56
That's all for weather tonight.
03:12
I'll see you tomorrow, but stay right where you are.
