This is Rochelle with tonight's weather forecast.
00:02
Thanks, Deesha. Good evening, Trinidad and Tobago.
00:06
Let's get right to your weather.
00:08
We're starting off with what happened today.
00:10
Ahead of an approaching surge of moisture,
00:13
cloud cover increased over parts of southwest peninsula
00:17
and Trinidad's northwestern region.
00:22
Isolated showers, some becoming heavy,
00:24
developed at times during the afternoon,
00:26
with activity gradually easing towards sunset.
00:30
And what's happening now in Port of Spain currently,
00:33
temperatures at 28 degrees with humidity at 83%.
00:38
Over in Tobago, we have some light rain with temperatures at 28 degrees
00:42
and winds coming northeast at 7 km per hour
00:45
and humidity at 78%, but it feels like 31 degrees.
00:51
Tonight will be cloudy with some showers expected over a few areas
00:55
with minimum temperatures of 24 degrees in Trinidad
00:58
and 25 over in Tobago.
01:00
And here's why we're working with our umbrellas tomorrow.
01:03
The Met Office is forecasting partly cloudy conditions
01:06
with occasional showers and a medium chance of isolated heavy showers
01:11
or thunderstorms.
01:12
Conditions will settle by late afternoon.
01:15
Maximum temperatures are expected to come in at 32 degrees in Trinidad
01:19
and 31 degrees in Tobago.
01:21
For those of you planning outdoor activities on Friday and Saturday,
01:25
you might want to change your plans a bit.
01:28
Because Friday is expected to bring partly cloudy to cloudy conditions
01:31
during the day.
01:33
With occasional light and moderate showers
01:35
and a medium chance of a few heavy showers,
01:38
some coldiness will persist overnight,
01:40
accompanied by a few thunderstorm activity.
01:43
Maximum temperatures are expected to come in
01:45
at 30 degrees in both Trinidad and Tobago.
01:49
And Saturday will be the same,
01:51
but this time with a lower chance of thunderstorm activity.
01:54
Nighttime will be settled with a few showers expected
01:57
from early morning.
01:58
Both islands will experience a maximum temperature of 31 degrees.
02:03
Now for our sun time in Trinidad,
02:05
sunrise is at 558 and it will set at 540.
02:09
Over in Tobago, sunrise is at 555 and it will set at 536.
02:13
Let's see what our seas are giving us tomorrow.
02:17
Seas are moderate with waves,
02:19
1.5 meters to 2 meters in open waters
02:21
and below 1 meter in sheltered areas.
02:25
It's now time for your Thai times.
02:39
Did you know that today is World Tsunami Awareness Day?
02:43
Let's talk about it.
02:45
It's an annual event held on the 5th of November
02:47
to raise awareness of the dangerous effects of tsunamis,
02:51
the importance of tsunamis, preparedness and early warning signs.
02:55
And over here, I like to keep my viewers informed.
02:58
Tsunamis are giant waves caused by earthquakes
03:01
or volcanic eruptions under the sea.
03:04
Out in the depths of the ocean,
03:06
tsunami waves do not dramatically increase in height,
03:09
but as the waves travel inland,
03:11
they build up to higher heights
03:13
as the depth of the ocean decreases.
03:16
The speed of tsunami waves depends on ocean depth
03:18
rather than the distance from the source of the wave.
03:22
Preparations can save lives.
03:24
Here's how to stay safe before, during and after a tsunami.
03:28
Before a tsunami, know the warning signs.
03:31
A strong or long earthquake near the coast
03:33
or a sudden retreat of the sea exposing the seabed
03:37
can be a natural tsunami warning.
03:39
Have an emergency plan,
03:41
pack an emergency kit and stay informed.
03:44
During a tsunami, move to higher grounds immediately,
03:48
stay away from the beach or shore
03:49
and don't go back to the coast
03:51
until authorities says it's safe.
03:54
After a tsunami, avoid floodwaters,
03:57
listen to updates from emergency services
03:59
and help others who may need assistance.
04:03
Well, now you know.
04:05
That's all for weather tonight.
04:06
Stay with us.
04:07
This is more news after a break.
