00:02Thanks, Deesha. Good evening, Trinidad and Tobago.
00:06Let's get right to your weather.
00:08We're starting off with what happened today.
00:10Ahead of an approaching surge of moisture,
00:13cloud cover increased over parts of southwest peninsula
00:17and Trinidad's northwestern region.
00:22Isolated showers, some becoming heavy,
00:24developed at times during the afternoon,
00:26with activity gradually easing towards sunset.
00:30And what's happening now in Port of Spain currently,
00:33temperatures at 28 degrees with humidity at 83%.
00:38Over in Tobago, we have some light rain with temperatures at 28 degrees
00:42and winds coming northeast at 7 km per hour
00:45and humidity at 78%, but it feels like 31 degrees.
00:51Tonight will be cloudy with some showers expected over a few areas
00:55with minimum temperatures of 24 degrees in Trinidad
00:58and 25 over in Tobago.
01:00And here's why we're working with our umbrellas tomorrow.
01:03The Met Office is forecasting partly cloudy conditions
01:06with occasional showers and a medium chance of isolated heavy showers
01:11or thunderstorms.
01:12Conditions will settle by late afternoon.
01:15Maximum temperatures are expected to come in at 32 degrees in Trinidad
01:19and 31 degrees in Tobago.
01:21For those of you planning outdoor activities on Friday and Saturday,
01:25you might want to change your plans a bit.
01:28Because Friday is expected to bring partly cloudy to cloudy conditions
01:31during the day.
01:33With occasional light and moderate showers
01:35and a medium chance of a few heavy showers,
01:38some coldiness will persist overnight,
01:40accompanied by a few thunderstorm activity.
01:43Maximum temperatures are expected to come in
01:45at 30 degrees in both Trinidad and Tobago.
01:49And Saturday will be the same,
01:51but this time with a lower chance of thunderstorm activity.
01:54Nighttime will be settled with a few showers expected
01:57from early morning.
01:58Both islands will experience a maximum temperature of 31 degrees.
02:03Now for our sun time in Trinidad,
02:05sunrise is at 558 and it will set at 540.
02:09Over in Tobago, sunrise is at 555 and it will set at 536.
02:13Let's see what our seas are giving us tomorrow.
02:17Seas are moderate with waves,
02:191.5 meters to 2 meters in open waters
02:21and below 1 meter in sheltered areas.
02:25It's now time for your Thai times.
02:39Did you know that today is World Tsunami Awareness Day?
02:43Let's talk about it.
02:45It's an annual event held on the 5th of November
02:47to raise awareness of the dangerous effects of tsunamis,
02:51the importance of tsunamis, preparedness and early warning signs.
02:55And over here, I like to keep my viewers informed.
02:58Tsunamis are giant waves caused by earthquakes
03:01or volcanic eruptions under the sea.
03:04Out in the depths of the ocean,
03:06tsunami waves do not dramatically increase in height,
03:09but as the waves travel inland,
03:11they build up to higher heights
03:13as the depth of the ocean decreases.
03:16The speed of tsunami waves depends on ocean depth
03:18rather than the distance from the source of the wave.
03:22Preparations can save lives.
03:24Here's how to stay safe before, during and after a tsunami.
03:28Before a tsunami, know the warning signs.
03:31A strong or long earthquake near the coast
03:33or a sudden retreat of the sea exposing the seabed
03:37can be a natural tsunami warning.
03:39Have an emergency plan,
03:41pack an emergency kit and stay informed.
03:44During a tsunami, move to higher grounds immediately,
03:48stay away from the beach or shore
03:49and don't go back to the coast
03:51until authorities says it's safe.
03:54After a tsunami, avoid floodwaters,
03:57listen to updates from emergency services
03:59and help others who may need assistance.
04:03Well, now you know.
04:05That's all for weather tonight.
04:06Stay with us.
04:07This is more news after a break.
