03:42This is a monster.
03:43This is a monster.
03:43This is a monster.
03:44This is a monster.
03:45This is a monster.
03:47This is a monster.
03:49This is a monster.
03:51Welcome, Trinidad and Tobago.
04:09Welcome to Beyond the Tape.
04:10I'm your host, Marc Bessant.
04:12Welcome to our viewers across the region, internationally.
04:16Of course, our brothers and sisters in the Isles of Grenada.
04:19I certainly hope that everyone was well-rested
04:21and had a really good weekend.
04:23And no purpose usual today.
04:26Monday, of course.
04:27None other than Captain Valence Rambrath
04:29of the Hunter Search and Rescue team.
04:32Welcome, sir.
04:32How was your weekend?
04:34Oh, I had a fantastic weekend.
04:36Although we were on a search on Saturday,
04:38it was very exhausting.
04:39I'll speak about that shortly.
04:41But I pleasure to bring to our viewers
04:43on Beyond the Tape and TV6.
04:46Thanks, Marc.
04:48I know that we have Republic Day was last Wednesday.
04:52So let me take the opportunity to wish all the awardees.
04:58You know, congratulations.
04:59I was pleasantly pleased to know that TKR team received awards
05:05as well as Jareem Richards and Kishon Walcott.
05:09Because they really lifted the spirits of our country
05:13and, you know, sport is a unifying thing in our country.
05:18And it was really, really...
05:20I was pleased to know that these awards were presented to them.
05:25Mark, in terms of searches conducted,
05:30on the night of the 23rd of September,
05:35that is the eve of Republic Day,
05:36we received a call from Police Constable Russell B. Desi,
05:41indicating that his mother went missing on that day,
05:45Tuesday the 23rd.
05:46And in speaking with him,
05:48I did give him the assurance
05:50that our team would be there very early
05:52on Republic morning
05:54to assist him with the search for his mother.
05:58Whilst on the way,
05:59when we contacted him
06:00to ask him to meet us in Point 14,
06:04we were told that her body was found
06:08hanging from a tree in Point 14
06:11near the Clifton Hill Beach.
06:12Someone who was jogging there early in the morning
06:16spotted the body hanging from a tree.
06:19But what happened subsequently is of concern.
06:23And, you know,
06:25Police Constable Russell B. Desi
06:28has been airing his views
06:31and saying that the police did not support him
06:36and that he's convinced
06:38that whatever transpired was a homicide
06:40and not a suicide.
06:41and that has basically taken over.
06:45We took over social media
06:46for the weekend
06:47and into this morning.
06:50And I just want to appeal
06:53because I've been following it
06:55to, you know,
06:55to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service
06:57that gentleman is probably
07:00under a lot of stress
07:01and I know they have their programs
07:03in place,
07:03the Employee Assistance Program.
07:05And, you know,
07:07I think that,
07:08I think you would have heard
07:10that he turned in his badge
07:12and he decided he would want to quit his job.
07:15But I know the police service
07:16will render our assistance.
07:19Really and truly,
07:20at the end of the day,
07:22an autopsy report
07:24will determine the true cause of death.
07:26I'm not too sure
07:27if that was done today.
07:29But hopefully,
07:30you know,
07:31that,
07:32you know,
07:33we have to seek the interests of him
07:35and try to support him
07:37in whatsoever challenges
07:39he may have
07:39at this point in time
07:41and to ensure,
07:42you know,
07:42that,
07:43you know,
07:43they put a cloak of comfort
07:45around him
07:45and try their best
07:47to,
07:48you know,
07:48deal with the situation.
07:49Well,
07:50certainly,
07:51you put it succinctly
07:52by saying that,
07:53you know,
07:53only a post-mortem
07:54will really decipher
07:56how his mother would have died.
07:59But of course,
08:00following that viral video
08:02that was on social media
08:03over the last 24 hours,
08:06the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service
08:07issued a media release
08:09by DCP Martin of Operations
08:13in light of the officer's statements.
08:15And she says,
08:16the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service
08:18is aware of videos
08:19currently circulating
08:20on social media
08:21in which a serving officer
08:22has made public statements
08:23that have attracted
08:25significant public attention.
08:27We wish to make it clear
08:28that the views
08:29and allegations
08:30expressed in these videos
08:31are personal in nature
08:33and do not represent
08:34the policies,
08:36principles,
08:36or operational positions
08:38of the TTPS.
08:39It continues,
08:40the officer in question
08:41is known to be experiencing
08:44challenges
08:46compounded by profound
08:47personal grief
08:48following the recent
08:49passing of his mother.
08:50The organization
08:52has been actively
08:52providing welfare assistance
08:54and psychological support
08:56to him and his family
08:58during this extremely
08:59difficult period.
09:01Importantly,
09:01we can confirm
09:02that an official police investigation
09:04into the circumstances
09:05surrounding his mother's death
09:07is currently underway.
09:09This investigation
09:10has been conducted
09:11with the utmost sensitivity,
09:13thoroughness,
09:15and impartiality,
09:16and the Trinidad and Tobago
09:17Police Service
09:18is committed to ensuring
09:19that all relevant facts
09:21are established
09:22and justice is served.
09:24While remain compassionate
09:26toward the officer's
09:27personal struggles,
09:28the unauthorized release
09:29of misleading information
09:31or speculative commentary
09:33into the public domain
09:34has the potential
09:35to erode public confidence
09:37and interfere with
09:39investigative processes.
09:41So,
09:42PCP Martin
09:43making it quite clear there.
09:44Quite clear,
09:44yeah,
09:45that, you know,
09:46they will reach out
09:47and they will do all
09:48in their power
09:49to, you know,
09:50to seek a resolution
09:52to this matter.
09:53And, Mark,
09:54in 2024,
09:56there were two cases.
09:57I don't know if you remember
09:58one in Cali Bay
09:59where a lady
10:00was found hanging.
10:01I do recall.
10:02That one was determined
10:03to be a homicide.
10:04Homicide, yes.
10:05And then there was
10:05a case in Princess Town
10:07where that one as well
10:08was determined
10:09to be a homicide.
10:11We were there
10:12on the scene
10:14in both cases.
10:16We saw the rope.
10:17It looked like it could.
10:19But I wouldn't say.
10:19I think when we
10:22collect the second one
10:24in Vancouver,
10:26I remember that tree
10:27being very, very tall.
10:28Very, very tall.
10:30Yeah.
10:30It was impossible
10:31for a female
10:33to climb
10:33and get up
10:34to that height.
10:35So I want to just
10:36appeal to
10:37the police constable
10:39Russell B. Desi.
10:41I know
10:42the police service
10:43is competent enough
10:45to make a determination
10:47of cause pending
10:48and autopsy result.
10:50Yeah.
10:51I know that
10:51you also had
10:52another mission
10:53that you
10:54would have
10:56gone on
10:57this
10:57last couple of days.
10:59Yeah, we were out.
11:00Dervison Prince
11:01Dennis, is it?
11:01Yeah, Dervison
11:02Dennis Prince
11:04is his name.
11:05Now, Mark,
11:06he lives in
11:07Diggomartin
11:07and he's a hunter.
11:09Right.
11:09He would have left
11:10Diggomartin.
11:11He does not have a vehicle
11:12and he would have left there
11:13to go to heights
11:14of Kwanapu.
11:16Now,
11:16it is normal
11:17for a few days
11:18before the hunting season
11:20opens on the 1st of October
11:21for hunters
11:22to go and clean up
11:23their camps
11:24and get things ready
11:25for the 1st of October.
11:26We're not sure
11:28what he went there for.
11:30We're not sure
11:31how we arrived.
11:32We don't know
11:33where his camp is.
11:35We don't know
11:36the exact area
11:38he would have entered.
11:39So,
11:40on Saturday,
11:41we would have gone
11:42up to heights
11:43of Aripu.
11:44We did some inquiries.
11:46We entered
11:47into the forest there.
11:48We did a thorough search
11:49of a few areas.
11:50Mark,
11:51when you're in the mountains
11:52up in heights
11:53of Kwanapu,
11:54you will take 3 hours
11:55just to do both sides
11:57of one mountain.
11:58Wow.
11:59Alright?
12:00So,
12:00there's so much,
12:01there's only so much
12:03you could do
12:03in a particular day.
12:05And,
12:06so,
12:07we were out there
12:07on Saturday
12:09and on Sunday.
12:11Right.
12:11And,
12:12so,
12:14we took a break today.
12:16Although,
12:17some guys went out today.
12:19They reported
12:20that they were not able
12:21to find Dennis.
12:22And,
12:23so,
12:23we will continue
12:24the search for him.
12:26We have a,
12:26a large team
12:28going in there.
12:29And,
12:30we will have to
12:30continue to search.
12:32Mark,
12:33you see the,
12:33the,
12:34the,
12:34the,
12:34the terrier.
12:34It's pretty hilly.
12:35It's pretty hilly.
12:36And,
12:36to cover that
12:37and to cover
12:38like every square inch
12:39is difficult.
12:40But,
12:40we are up to the task
12:41and hopefully soon
12:43we could bring
12:43a chief closure
12:44for his family.
12:46We are in contact
12:46with his family
12:47at all times.
12:49And,
12:49this is just
12:49maybe after
12:51our search.
12:52This is the type
12:53of rivers
12:53we have to go through.
12:55Very,
12:55very rocky areas.
12:58And,
12:58this is the bottom
12:59of the slope.
13:00So,
13:00it takes maybe
13:01an hour and a half
13:02to ascend,
13:03searching.
13:04And,
13:04an hour and a half
13:05to descend,
13:06searching on the other side.
13:07Tough going,
13:08but we,
13:09we feel we could,
13:11you know,
13:12as we continue
13:12the search,
13:13we could,
13:13you know,
13:14really cover
13:15more,
13:15more terrain.
13:17It's quite a,
13:18a long drive
13:19to get up there
13:19as well.
13:20But,
13:21beautiful place.
13:22And,
13:22I would say
13:23nice hunting grounds
13:24as a hunter.
13:26But,
13:27it's just for us
13:28to try and pinpoint
13:29the area.
13:30Thus far,
13:31we've not come
13:32across any activity
13:33to suggest
13:34that he did
13:36some extra chopping
13:37of trees
13:37or clearing
13:38the forest
13:39in any way
13:40to,
13:41to,
13:41to give us
13:42an idea
13:42of his presence
13:43in the forest.
13:44But,
13:44we will continue
13:45to tomorrow's
13:46day seven.
13:47And,
13:48hopefully,
13:48you know,
13:48we could,
13:49we could get there
13:50and,
13:50and,
13:51and achieve closure
13:52for his family.
13:53And,
13:53we're putting
13:54a lot of effort
13:55into this case
13:56and,
13:57we want to find him.
13:59More so because,
14:00I mean,
14:01he's,
14:01he's,
14:02he's,
14:02he's a member
14:03of the hunting fraternity.
14:04We'll give extra
14:05in this case.
14:06All right.
14:07So,
14:07we hope that,
14:08you will locate,
14:09Mr. Prince,
14:10not too distant future
14:13and that,
14:15if you have,
14:15if you have any information
14:17that you would like
14:18to share,
14:19you can call
14:19the hunter search
14:20and rescue
14:21799-1453.
14:22Yes?
14:23799-1453
14:24or you could contact
14:25either the Western
14:26Police Station
14:27in this case
14:28as well as
14:29the Arima Police Station.
14:31Both police stations
14:33are aware
14:33of our activities
14:34and our searches
14:35for Dennis.
14:37All right.
14:38All right.
14:39moving on to some
14:40news,
14:41of course,
14:42over the last 24 hours,
14:43the Trinidad and
14:44Topeka Police Service
14:45foiled a drone
14:47delivery
14:47outside the
14:49maximum security
14:49prison in Arruca.
14:51It was directed
14:52by Commissioner of Police
14:53Alistair Guvaro,
14:55also DCP Martin,
14:57as well as ASP
14:58Wayne Stanley
15:00and the Senior
15:01Superintendent
15:01of Prison,
15:02Z. David,
15:03acting on credible
15:04information regarding
15:05the aerial delivery
15:06of prohibited items
15:07via drone officers
15:08conducted at
15:09targeted operation.
15:10This was between
15:115 a.m.
15:13yesterday morning
15:14to 7 o'clock
15:15last night.
15:17And in so doing,
15:18they held three suspects
15:19approximately 50 meters
15:21from the prison wall.
15:22A substantial quantity
15:23of contraband
15:24was seized,
15:25including narcotics,
15:27cigarettes,
15:27drone equipment,
15:29and communication devices.
15:31Simultaneous searches
15:32within the prison
15:33uncovered further
15:34illicit items
15:34across multiple cells
15:37within the MSP.
15:39The operation
15:39also included
15:40the search of
15:41unknown offenders
15:41premises under
15:42Section 12
15:43of the Emergency
15:44Powers Regulations
15:452025,
15:47and the impongling
15:47of a vehicle
15:48suspected to be
15:49linked to the
15:50smuggling attempt.
15:50Of course,
15:52the incident was
15:52incident-free,
15:54sorry,
15:54the exercise.
15:55And Commissioner
15:56Guevara said,
15:57I commend all
15:58officers and units
15:59involved in last
15:59night's joint
16:00operation for the
16:01exceptional coordination,
16:03discipline,
16:03and tactical precision.
16:05Your swift,
16:06intelligence-led response
16:07disrupted a
16:08sophisticated smuggling
16:10attempt and
16:11led to the recovery
16:11of a significant
16:12clash of contraband
16:13both outside and
16:14within the
16:15Aruka Maximum
16:16Security Prison.
16:17Of course,
16:18also,
16:19Acting
16:19Prison's
16:20Commissioner
16:20Mr.
16:21Hayden Ford
16:22expressed
16:23satisfaction and
16:24gratitude for
16:25the successful
16:26execution of
16:27this critical
16:28intelligence-led
16:29operation,
16:29saying that
16:30he was
16:31quite welcoming
16:33in this
16:33collaboration as
16:34we continue to
16:35fight the
16:37crime elements
16:39in this country.
16:39And you know
16:40that this drone
16:41situation has
16:42been, you
16:43know,
16:44quite problematic
16:45for the
16:46authorities,
16:47over the
16:47last year,
16:48year and a
16:48half,
16:49even two
16:49years.
16:50So it's
16:51good that
16:51they're
16:52targeting
16:52these people,
16:53these operations,
16:53because these
16:54people can't
16:54just stand
16:55out there and
16:56drop illicit
16:57items into
16:58the jail,
16:59you know,
17:00marijuana,
17:01cigarettes,
17:01cell phones,
17:02it's against
17:03protocol.
17:04Yeah,
17:04commendations to
17:06the Trinidad
17:06Police Service
17:07and Prison
17:08Service for
17:10foiling this
17:11brazen attempt
17:12to get items
17:14into our
17:14prison.
17:15And yes,
17:15Mark,
17:16we've seen
17:16it before,
17:17I know it
17:18was much
17:18more prevalent
17:19with respect
17:20to the
17:20jail in
17:22Port of
17:22Spain.
17:23Yes.
17:23But now
17:23you're seeing
17:24attempts to
17:25penetrate that
17:26maximum security
17:27prison and
17:28yeah,
17:28commendations to
17:30the officers.
17:31And you know,
17:31the level of
17:32technology is
17:33important and
17:34you know,
17:35these are
17:35important tools
17:36for law
17:36enforcement
17:37to really
17:39breach and
17:40to,
17:40sorry,
17:40to intercept
17:41the criminal
17:43element as
17:44they just
17:45continue to
17:46do things
17:47to ensure
17:49that whosoever
17:50is inside the
17:52prison is
17:53comfortable as
17:54outside.
17:55And you know,
17:56I think the
17:57current commission
17:58of police said
17:59that is not
18:01what a prison
18:03is supposed to
18:04be.
18:04You're supposed
18:05to be uncomfortable
18:06inside of there.
18:08So,
18:08commendations to
18:09them.
18:10Excellent
18:10police work.
18:11All right.
18:12State of the
18:12emergency,
18:13day 74.
18:15Let's take a
18:15look at the
18:16figures quickly.
18:18Number of
18:19operations,
18:205,110.
18:21I think we
18:22got a little
18:23ahead of
18:23ourselves,
18:24producer.
18:25Right.
18:26Target
18:26priority
18:26offenders,
18:271,869.
18:28Sages
18:29conducted,
18:2933,330.
18:32Traffic
18:33operations,
18:343,381.
18:35Total

18:3879.
18:39Traffic

18:40detected,
18:4019,493.
18:43Firearms
18:43recovered,
18:4466 pistols,
18:4535 revolvers,
18:4621 shotguns,
18:4718 rifles,
18:48and 3 air
18:49rifles.
18:50Ammunition
18:50recovered in
18:51total,
18:511,785
18:53wrongs,
18:54860
18:55wrongs of
18:559mm,
18:5653 wrongs
18:57of 0.380,
18:58and 63
18:59wrongs of
18:590.762
19:00represents a
19:02rise in
19:02those areas
19:03for the
19:03amount of
19:04wrongs
19:04seized.
19:06Dangerous
19:06drugs seized,
19:07243,558.82
19:10grams of
19:11marijuana,
19:128,092.78
19:14grams of
19:14cocaine,
19:151,032
19:16STC pills,
19:18and 15
19:18grams of
19:19molly.
19:19Right, and
19:20so you have
19:21firearms,
19:21you have
19:22ammunition,
19:23and narcotics,
19:24key, key, key
19:26elements in the
19:27fight against
19:27crime, and
19:29impact is
19:30being made,
19:30and this
19:33type of
19:34operations have
19:34to continue.
19:35Mark, I
19:36notice the
19:36public, you
19:37know, still
19:39concerned about
19:40the number of
19:41roadblocks,
19:42but roadblocks
19:44are part of
19:45the law
19:45enforcement
19:46strategy,
19:48and when
19:50persons go
19:50missing,
19:51it's only
19:52then you
19:53realize,
19:54if you're in
19:54a car trunk,
19:55you will say,
19:57oh gosh, I
19:57hope there's a
19:58roadblock to
19:59stop this
20:00vehicle and
20:00find me in
20:01this car trunk.
20:02I always use
20:03that as an
20:05example,
20:06because roadblocks
20:08are part of
20:09law enforcement
20:10strategy,
20:11and we have
20:12to cooperate
20:13and try and
20:14make the
20:14sacrifice.
20:15I know
20:16sometimes there
20:17are roadblocks
20:17in some places
20:19that create
20:20traffic, but
20:21that work
20:22has to go
20:23on.
20:23Yes,
20:24certainly.
20:25All right,

24:03I'm your host,
24:03Mark Bussan,
24:04joined today by
24:04Captain Valence
24:05Ramratt of the
24:06Hunter's Search and
24:06Rescue Team.
24:07And I know you're
24:07going to take us
24:08through the
24:08missing persons
24:09for September.
24:10Yes, Mark.
24:11In September,
24:12we're coming to
24:13an end in
24:14September.
24:14We have had
24:1524 reports of
24:17missing persons
24:17thus far.
24:18You know, our
24:21records show that
24:22each September
24:23very early, there
24:24is a bit of a
24:25slowdown and then
24:26it picks up towards
24:28the end of
24:28September and it
24:29has happened.
24:31And so we still
24:32have 12 outstanding
24:33persons out of
24:35those 24 for
24:36September.
24:38And we've spoken
24:39about this case,
24:40Imran's Clubs
24:41Alley, a popular
24:43central businessman
24:45who lives, who is
24:47from Charlieville
24:48is still
24:49outstanding and
24:51we're asking
24:52anyone who have
24:53information to
24:54contact your
24:55nearest police
24:55station or
24:57799-1453.
25:01All we've marked
25:02in the search
25:03for Imran's
25:04Clubs Alley,
25:05we've almost
25:05covered the
25:06entire central
25:07Trinidad.
25:08Right.
25:08Central Trinidad.
25:11Eight or nine
25:12days search, we've
25:13come up empty
25:14handed thus far.
25:15So we're
25:16depending on the
25:17public.
25:18And then we
25:18have Kirina
25:19Sinanan.
25:21Now, Mark, I
25:22don't want to
25:22say much.
25:23Something, some
25:23things are going
25:24on.
25:24We have a fair
25:25idea where she
25:26is.
25:26We know who
25:27is involved.
25:27and we're speaking
25:30to the police and
25:31have mother on
25:32this matter and
25:33something should
25:34happen shortly.
25:36And then we
25:36don't have much
25:38information on
25:39Guilan Huang.
25:41Gijian Huang.
25:45Again, there's the
25:47language barrier.
25:49We tried getting
25:49somebody to assist
25:51us and, you
25:52know, to speak to
25:54his brother, but he
25:55remains missing.
25:56We're not sure what
25:57happened to him.
25:58But again, if you
25:59have information which
26:01could assist us,
26:02please contact the
26:03nearest police station
26:04or 799-1453.
26:08We really need to
26:10find this gentleman
26:12from Woodbrook.
26:14There we have some
26:15persons, some
26:17missing from
26:18homes.
26:20And Natalie
26:21Richardson, she was
26:22last seen in La
26:23Hocketa.
26:23We have no idea
26:25where Natalie is.
26:27So if you know
26:28where she is, she
26:29was last seen in
26:30the La Hocketa
26:30district, please
26:32contact 996 or
26:35your nearest police
26:36station or our
26:37team at 799-1453.
26:41And then JJ Alam is
26:43still missing again
26:44from a children's
26:45home, last seen in
26:47the Santa Cruz area.
26:49Please call 996 if
26:51you have information
26:52in the nearest police
26:53station or 799-1453.
26:56She's only 16 years
26:59old.
27:00And then Miley, Miley
27:02Castillo, very well
27:04known to us.
27:05She's a repeated
27:05runaway teenager.
27:08She's last seen in the
27:10enterprise area.
27:11Call 996 if you have
27:13information in the
27:15nearest police station
27:16or our team at 799-1453.
27:191-4-5-3.
27:21Now, Andy Gerard is
27:22missing from the La Bray
27:24district.
27:25And thus far, we've
27:27had no leads with
27:28respect to Andy and
27:29where he could be.
27:31Could be that he would
27:32have made his way
27:33north into San Fernando
27:36and onwards onto
27:37Porter Speed.
27:38So, we're asking you to
27:39keep your eyes out for
27:40Andy Gerard.
27:41He's not in the La Bray
27:42district.
27:44And please contact the
27:45La Bray police station
27:46or 799-1453 if you have
27:51information on him.
27:53Then, we still have
27:55Selim Jackan and we're
27:56beginning to get worried
27:57about Selim.
27:59Selim always walks the road
28:01in the Arima district,
28:02district, especially that
28:03Olton road area.
28:05and he's 27.
28:07His mental health is
28:08compromised.
28:10And, but not being able
28:12to be, to spot him from
28:14the 6th of September to
28:17today, which is the 29th of
28:19September is of concern to
28:21everyone.
28:22So, if you have information
28:24which could lead us to
28:26locating Selim Jack, please
28:28contact the Arima police
28:30station or 799-1453.
28:33He's a very popular person
28:36in the Olton road area, but
28:39there has been absolutely
28:40no sighting of Selim Jack
28:44thus far.
28:45And then we have, um,
28:48Jose Rick Kena.
28:51He is missing from the
28:52Arima district.
28:53Um, a young man, age 25 and
28:56we have had no leads on
28:57Jose Rick Kena thus far.
29:00So, if you have information,
29:01please call the Arima
29:02police station or 799-1453.
29:08Of course, we dealt with, um,
29:11the, there is for Dennis
29:15Prince and it will be
29:17hardly likely to get
29:18information from the public.
29:20But if you were in
29:20conversation with, you know,
29:23there is Ford Prince just
29:25prior to the 22th, let's say
29:27you had a conversation on
29:28the phone with him probably
29:30Monday or Sunday or Monday and
29:33he may have mentioned exactly
29:36where he was going.
29:38Please call us.
29:39Call us.
29:40Call 799-1453.
29:43That is the type of information
29:44you could, um, give us which
29:48will help us to identify and
29:50define a proper search area.
29:52I want to mention, Mark, that
29:54there is Ford Prince is, uh, is a
29:56groundsman at a school and he
29:58never misses work.
30:00Right?
30:01And he's always there at work.
30:03So, for him to be absent from
30:05work, it means to say that he's
30:07probably somewhere in the
30:08forest.
30:09So, we keep an eye out.
30:10But please call us if you are
30:12Darius Ford, Prince's friend, and
30:14he spoke to you either this Sunday
30:16or Monday prior.
30:17And then we have Casey Smith.
30:19She's a repeat, um, she's a repeat
30:22runaway, uh, teenager.
30:25She's now 17 years from the
30:27Diggomartin District.
30:29And, um, uh, yeah, this is Casey
30:31Smith here.
30:32Repeat runaway teenager.
30:34Her mother contacted me this
30:36morning to say that Casey, um,
30:38ran away again.
30:39So, if you have information, please
30:41call us 799-1453 or, um, the
30:46nearest police station.
30:48So, Mark, those are the 12
30:49persons.
30:50Oh, there is one I didn't deal
30:51with.
30:51We missed, uh, Komal Maharaj.
30:54Yes.
30:55We missed Komal Maharaj.
30:56Yes.
30:57And, Mark, he, this is the
30:59second time Komal has gone
31:00missing.
31:01And when we posted his poster,
31:02the members of the public
31:03remembered the first occasion.
31:06Now, he's from the Felicity
31:07District and he stepped out of
31:10his home.
31:11He went to a nearby recreation
31:12ground.
31:13He sat on a park bench.
31:15He got up.
31:17He left.
31:18He sat on another park bench.
31:20And then a vehicle pulled up.
31:22I know we have a picture of the
31:23said vehicle that pulled up.
31:25Right.
31:25PED, it's a silver, uh, Nissan
31:28Note.
31:29PED 9629.
31:30Heavily tinted.
31:31Heavily tinted vehicle pulled up
31:34and he walked into this vehicle.
31:37So, if you have information on
31:39this vehicle or the whereabouts of
31:41Komal Maharaj, please contact
31:43your nearest police station or
31:45799-1453.
31:48I had a conversation with his wife
31:50and, um, she said, you know, uh, just
31:54after he went missing the, the first
31:56time, um, they were very careful as
31:59to, you know, in terms of
32:01communicating when he would leave
32:03the house.
32:04And she said it was surprising that
32:06he stepped out of the house, maybe
32:08just to go for a breeze outside, and
32:10he is missing.
32:11She said, between the last time and
32:14this time, their communication was
32:16on point, it was working, and he
32:18never left the house without her
32:20knowing.
32:21So, that is strange about this
32:23missing person report, and, you
32:25know, we ask you to keep your eyes
32:27out.
32:28Any information, please pass it on
32:30to us.
32:30Yeah, because, uh, he would have
32:31gone missing in July of 2024 in
32:33the Chaguanas area.
32:35Of course, the, the anti-
32:36kidnapping squad, uh, was, uh,
32:38brought in.
32:39Yeah.
32:39And, uh, days passed, and
32:41of course, uh, by some quirk of
32:44fate, he got to, he was found in
32:47Cedrus.
32:47In the Cedrus district.
32:48He probably said that he was
32:49dropped off in the ocean nearby
32:51to the shore, and he swam to
32:53shore, and then he, he was made
32:55out by somebody in the Cedrus area
32:57where he went to a shop.
32:58Uh, but there's still bits and
33:00pieces of that story that, you
33:01know, uh, people are still
33:02wanting to, to get clarity on, of
33:04course, and all that he's gone
33:06missing a second time.
33:07We hope for that he's safe, and, uh,
33:09he will return home shortly.
33:10With the assistance of, of anybody
33:13with the police, as the case may be.
33:15Right.
33:15And the key to us finding him is that
33:17vehicle, and I know the police are
33:19working, um, assiduously in finding
33:22all they can about that vehicle.
33:24We know, we're not sure if it's
33:26bearing false number of places yet.
33:28Likely.
33:29But, but, but most likely, but, you
33:31know, the, once we get on the
33:32information, we can move from there
33:34and with the public assistance, we
33:36will try to help him, um, help
33:38locate him.
33:39All right.
33:40And on that note, we're going to
33:41take a short break, and we'll be
33:43back with more.
33:44Stay with us.

36:07Welcome back to Be On The Tape.
36:20I'm your host, Marcus, and of course, joined today by Captain Valence Rambarat
36:23of the Hunters Search and Rescue Team.
36:25Your favorite segment?
36:27Voice of the People.
36:28San Fernando, let's go.
36:37Yeah, the police officers are doing the job, man.
36:54They're doing the job well.
36:55Just yesterday, there was a little fight right there in front of the world.
36:58And that set of schoolboys advantage was in schoolboys and the police reached fast.
37:01And they apprehended the suspect and things.
37:04The police officers are involved in the fight now.
37:05So the police are doing a good job, man.
37:07Yeah, so you're happy that you're a part of it now in schools?
37:10Yes, I'm happy that they're in schools because there's a lot of violence in schools now.
37:15And the officers are doing a good job, man.
37:17How can communities work together to help reduce crime in their communities?
37:24Well, I feel they should get together and have a little...
37:28How can I get together, like, you know, and let everybody come together and talk about it
37:32and realize where the problems start, you know, and if they can focus on where the problem is.
37:37The way it really starts, then they can deal with that and pass up to that.
37:41What's your thoughts on the stand-up legislation, you know, where people can get their own firearms
37:47and if anybody come into your house, you know, you can engage them.
37:51Yeah, that's a good idea.
37:53I wish I could get that because you might want to take time in the country.
37:56And sometimes a lot of people check.
37:58Then me and they do.
37:59So I would like if we, you know, we could get a FUL on our server so we can protect the family and we love ones.
38:05You know what I mean?
38:05It has a lot of strange people and things coming down the road, you know.
38:10All of them Spanish and things too.
38:11Right.
38:12So as I'm sure you're a motorist, right, you drive and so on.
38:15What do you think motorists could do to aid safety on the roadways?
38:20Safety?
38:22Well...
38:22And reduce accidents.
38:24The little phone and things, you know, plenty of people like to text message and drive the cell.
38:27A lot of people like to speed.
38:31If they just take the time and everybody drive, it wouldn't have as much accident.
38:36Look, I was involved in a few accidents as well last year.
38:41The speed and the alcohol doesn't make sense.
38:43You think that they should have a stepfather regulation so those that breach traffic regulations?
38:51No, well, depending on the traffic violation.
38:54Because sometimes a man tire will smooth, you know, and the charge a man.
38:59You know, sometimes you don't know a man can't afford to pay that ticket.
39:03You have a family to see about and thing and, you know, where we're going.
39:07Every man can't pay the ticket.
39:09Now, the way she's a warrant for him.
39:11Put your arrest and the next criminal on the list.
39:14Yeah.
39:14So, you know, they should have a little heart on all for the citizens, man.
39:17You know, look at the roads.
39:18The roads and the empty terrible.
39:20When you drive your car one or two times, you have to fix car.
39:23True.
39:23Car costs $2,000, $3,000 and parts plus later.
39:26You think that we should have mandatory programs for errant motorists, drivers?
39:32Errant motorists.
39:33Like, yeah, motorists who are going to fall on a low all the time.
39:35You think we should have a program for them to go and seek counsel, seek assistance?
39:40Yes, that would be good, man.
39:42Yes, yes, that would be a good idea if you check.
39:44Like, they arrive alive.
39:46They arrive alive and so.
39:50Yes, it's a good idea.
39:51Have you ever been a victim of crime?
39:53And if so, how you felt?
39:56Nah, I can't say how.
39:57Yeah, I have been a victim.
39:59And I find, well, sometimes I feel angry because, you know, I find that the TPS is not doing the work.
40:05They're not arresting the man.
40:06You know what I mean?
40:07Like, if I do something wrong, they come to arrest me.
40:09Sometimes, you know, sometimes they don't arrest the other person.
40:13You know, I just feel like, you know, it's good in a way and it's bad in a way.
40:17You've ever been a victim of a scam, per se?
40:21Nah, I don't feel so.
40:22All right.
40:23And last question.
40:24You know, people have been going on marketplace and they see something for sale or they're going to sell a car and they're going to meet somebody in an area or location.
40:34What's your advice to people like that?
40:37$50, moms.
40:39What's your advice on that?
40:41I find that people have to be very careful because people got robbed going to buy this car, going to buy this phone and they just saw it on Facebook.
40:50So, you come like, these people need to have some common sense too because it's simple to get robbed out here now.
40:56The criminals are using technology now and they're using the technology to their advantage.
41:03And it's like these simple people that are not so intelligent.
41:06They might see something nice and say, yeah, what's your cheap for this phone and they go in.
41:11And the little dude, they know, they're getting all their money and they're going and they're just getting it.
41:14Yeah.
41:15And they wouldn't learn.
41:16They just keep on doing it.
41:18So, you check.
41:18People need to secure their interests properly because in this time, the country is getting different.
41:27Remember, right now we're in a state of emergency.
41:30Yeah.
41:30So, it's like it's having more crime right now too for them to be having the state of emergency.
41:34Thanks so much for your time.
41:36I appreciate it, brother.
41:37Yeah, it will.
41:43Voice of the people, Captain.
41:45Yeah, very nice interview with the coconut vendor and he's at the heart of it all there in San Fernando.
41:52And he spoke about the school violence.
41:55And from where that camera picked it up, you could have seen Lapeque Hill and that's the gathering for school children.
42:05When school dismisses in the San Fernando area, they gather there to get their various taxis to go home.
42:11And he was witness to an incident where, you know, there was a school fight.
42:17There was a fight with school children out in the Lapeque area and he said the police responded quickly and they dealt with the situation.
42:25So, you know, we need the police to patrol these zones where school children gather to get transportation after school.
42:37There's a program within the schools and there's this one which needs to be continued, not stopped, but it must continue through the school terms.
42:47He spoke about his community and he said, you know, for residents to meet and discuss their problems.
42:56And I guess this is why the TTPS would have town meetings to get the views of the public and, you know, discuss various matters affecting community.
43:05And these are very, very important.
43:08The police gets a chance to report to the citizenry.
43:12And with respect to stand-near-ground policies, of course, he went directly to FUL, right?
43:18So, he needs a firearm to defend himself.
43:22But the legislation I read today is supposed to be in the parliament by November 2025.
43:30You know, it's very important for citizens to follow the debate and understand what the legislation is about.
43:38It's not only about firearms, right?
43:41He spoke about the, of course, road safety.
43:45Yes.
43:45And, yes, he said the penalty.
43:48He didn't agree with speeding and the consumption of alcohol and its relevance to speeding.
43:57But, you know, this argument continues about the balance and the need for the fines to be commensurate with the stately roadway and this sort of thing.
44:11And there is a point to that, you know, reduction in fines may be a way to go.
44:19And he spoke about the poor man and the ability to speak, to pay these fines.
44:27And so, I thought, all in all, it was a very, very good interview with the coconut vendor.
44:34He has a good view.
44:36And, you know, he said, well, I know he spoke about the scams.
44:39And while he wasn't affected, he spoke about the use of technology.
44:44And to the unsuspecting who doesn't understand the technology, it's very easy to get scammed.
44:49Yes, indeed.
44:51All right, we're going to take a short break.
44:53And when we get back, we'll have some more.

48:15Welcome back to Be On The Tape.
48:26I'm your host, Mark Boussaint, joined today by Captain Valence Rambarat of the Hunters Search and Rescue Team.
48:31We just want to remind you of the numbers to call, 623-1711, extensions 1996 and 1997.
48:39I think we have our first call on the line.
48:41Caller, good evening, and welcome to Be On The Tape.
48:43Good evening, sir.
48:44Thank you for everything, everybody.
48:46Today, sir.
48:46Today.
48:47I want to thank you.
48:48I want to thank you.
48:49I want to thank you.
48:50Are you right?
48:51Go ahead.
48:52Be listening, sir.
48:54I want to thank you.
48:56I have a call on semi-bug, OK?
48:59OK.
49:01Are you hearing me?
49:02Yes, sir.
49:02Just lower your volume on your television.
49:04Don't mute it.
49:05Sorry.
49:06Yes, it's one right down there.
49:10We're hearing you.
49:11Go ahead, sir.
49:13I'm a pastor of the ship.
49:16I'm a pastor of the ship.
49:19I'm a pastor of the ship.
49:22I've got a doctor of paper stated here.
49:24I've got to use a seat belt.
49:26I've got something from wearing this bag.
49:29I've got a doctor of paper.
49:31But for all these injuries, I've got to say,
49:33me and even the warden officers,
49:34and I have it since about 20 years now.
49:37So my point is not to make it.
49:39It's not like I break the law.
49:42You know?
49:44Yes, the volume is down right now.
49:47Yeah.
49:48I do.
49:49I try to open the law.
49:51What happened?
49:52I've been around with the police.
49:54I even went to the light's office.
49:56I don't see what the light's office could do for me.
49:58You understand?
49:59Because once I have a doctor of paper calling,
50:01but he has to have a good penis.
50:03Once I have a doctor of paper stating that you're exempted
50:06from your seat belt,
50:08you need to go anywhere else.
50:10You need to know police to send you out to the light's office,
50:12get this and get that.
50:13And if I'm supposed to know the guy,
50:14I'm getting a new medical stating that I do have
50:17very close.
50:18But I'm a pensioner.
50:20If I can't say it,
50:21it's not that you want to break the law
50:23because of the,
50:24the way the colostomy bag is,
50:26that's what I'm supposed to ask you.
50:28That's why the doctor said that,
50:30you're exempted,
50:31you're exempted,
50:32you're exempted from the people.
50:34You know?
50:36You come on with the people,
50:37you know,
50:38only they don't want to stand up.
50:40All right.
50:41So caller,
50:42what I want to suggest that you do is leave your number with the producer
50:45so that we can get some feedback from one of the officers on the show.
50:48Perhaps,
50:49Sergeant Ali,
50:50ASP Pitt,
50:51or any other officer that perhaps comes tomorrow onto the show.
50:54And we will try to inquire as to that protocol.
50:58And I imagine,
51:00Captain,
51:01that, you know,
51:02when you have a medical condition of some sort,
51:04and you're given exemptions,
51:06and you have a medical piece of paper to show such,
51:10I think there should be some compassion on behalf of the law enforcement
51:15in terms of you're exempted,
51:17not wearing a seatbelt.
51:18Well,
51:19I know the officers could exercise discretion in such cases.
51:23But if I remember the,
51:25it was the procedure.
51:27I think once you have that medical in hand,
51:30it must be taken to the licensing office to be verified and stamped.
51:36So I,
51:37if I remember the procedure well,
51:38so probably he did not pay attention to that.
51:41Well,
51:42he said he's had it a long time,
51:43huh?
51:44Yeah.
51:45So,
51:46you know,
51:47but again,
51:48I think he would have gone through all the protocols,
51:49and he said he did go back to licensing,
51:50and he would have spoken to the officers there.
51:52Uh,
51:53mainly because the police continuously hassles him.
51:56Right.
51:57So,
51:58we're hopeful so that we can get you some kind of resolution in the coming days.
52:02Yeah.
52:03When we speak to one of the officers on the show.
52:05All right.
52:06We have another caller online.
52:07Caller,
52:08good evening and welcome to be on the tape.
52:09Oh,
52:10yes.
52:11Thank you for taking my call.
52:12Very nice sharing this.
52:14I want to acknowledge the captain there,
52:16who I say,
52:17has been at the job of the hospital rescue,
52:19and yourself.
52:20Two points I want to make.
52:22One,
52:23quickly.
52:24Um,
52:25I see a video circulating and thing with a police officer who,
52:28uh,
52:29mother got killed on him.
52:30And,
52:31I want to know if the police is taking steps to at least give that gentleman,
52:36who was a member of the force for the service body,
52:40um,
52:41consulate one.
52:42And,
52:43uh,
52:44the next thing is,
52:45um,
52:46is the police in direct contact with the children's authority?
52:50Why I ask that?
52:51And so,
52:52and,
52:53and it disturbed me a lot.
52:54Whether I'm 12 or 15 year old,
52:56um,
52:57young girl,
52:58were killed.
52:59Uh,
53:00brutally killed.
53:01And I think these things continue to happen in our society.
53:05Because,
53:06uh,
53:07the way down of the home,
53:08and,
53:09and,
53:10and,
53:11uh,
53:12things going on at the home.
53:13And I want to call out children's authority must play a greater role in communication and police
53:20to find out what is happening at the home to prevent these things from happening.
53:24This killing of this little child hurt me a lot.
53:29All right.
53:30Uh,
53:31um,
53:32Captain,
53:33I think you can answer the second one first.
53:34Yeah.
53:35With respect to,
53:36um,
53:37the 13 year old Mariah Sinat.
53:38Yes.
53:39I think we continue to look at these cases.
53:42This is the second,
53:43um,
53:44young teenager murdered for 2025.
53:46Malini was first.
53:48And then,
53:49uh,
53:50Mariah.
53:51And we want,
53:52you know,
53:53to ensure that there's a system that could deal with these issues with respect to their
54:00lives and how they live and how they function in the society.
54:04And,
54:05you know,
54:06a reporting system,
54:07which will be effective and efficient in resolving these issues.
54:11Certainly,
54:12we cannot be satisfied.
54:13Um,
54:14um,
54:15we look at the work of the social workers,
54:17the work of the,
54:18the schools,
54:19those in the schools who are empowered to do those,
54:23that type of work.
54:25And therefore,
54:26the reporting systems failed Maria Sinat.
54:29and then,
54:30um,
54:31he spoke about the first issue.
54:33And I think we dealt with that at the start of the program where,
54:36uh,
54:37you might have missed that,
54:38but,
54:39uh,
54:40the beginning of the program,
54:41uh,
54:42the Trinidad and Tobago police service did sell out a release indicating that,
54:44obviously,
54:45they have been assisting,
54:46uh,
54:47this,
54:48uh,
54:49officer in his,
54:50his time of grief and,
54:51uh,
54:52allegations of course,
54:53made,
54:54uh,
54:55by this officer.
54:56Uh,
54:57they are not in a position to say whether or not,
54:58uh,
54:59she was murdered.
55:00Uh,
55:01that is his claim.
55:02And of course,
55:03uh,
55:04post-mortem has to be conducted.
55:05And only then we can know,
55:06uh,
55:07the cause of death in that circumstance.
55:08And of course,
55:09the police remains impartial,
55:10thorough,
55:11and they continue to investigate this,
55:13uh,
55:14particular incident involving his mother who passed.
55:16and was found,
55:17uh,
55:18on a beach in,
55:19in Cedras.
55:20Yes.
55:21Yeah.
55:22In point 14.
55:23Clifton Hill point.
55:24Yes.
55:25So we just have about two minutes,
55:26uh,
55:27Captain.
55:28Um,
55:29Mark,
55:30I know our members.
55:31We have about 32 strong members and we do celebrate their birthdays.

56:02uh,
56:03on missions.
56:04And one of our founding members,
56:06Mark,
56:07the young Vina Narain Sinanan.
56:09She has been with us since the Andrea Barat search.
56:12And,
56:13um,
56:14she continues,
56:15um,
56:16to be with the team.
56:17She took a break for to raise her family to start a family.
56:21And she came back on with us immediately after.
56:24So,
56:25um,
56:26birthday greetings to these three members,
