03:21Welcome to Beyond the Table.
03:22I'm your host, Mark Basant.
03:24Welcome to our viewers across Trinidad and Tobago.
03:26Of course, our global viewers and our brothers and sisters in the Isles of Grenada.
03:32And with us today is none other than Captain Valence Rambert of the Hunter, Search and Rescue
03:37Team.
03:37And as you can imagine, Captain, we've had some severe weather over the last couple of
03:43days, the weekend and even today.
03:46Yes, some very impactful weather over the country.
03:51And Mark, a pleasant good afternoon to all viewers on Beyond the Table.
03:56It's a pleasure to be here once again.
03:58Yes.
03:59And so there was some, what you call, flash flooding taking place throughout the country.
04:04And in this video here, Mark, there is a woman again trapped on the East Drive River.
04:11The back of the bridge there.
04:12And thankfully, she was rescued because I did follow the story.
04:17And so this always happens in the East Drive River because there are persons who occupy various
04:24parts of the river.
04:26Yeah.
04:26And they have to be careful.
04:28So it was impactful whether we see this video here with these trucks and we try, you know,
04:34we tell people to avoid moving.
04:36Well, that's it.
04:37It gives us an idea of how high the water is.
04:39How high the water is.
04:40Those trucks are fairly high and are going, traversing the waters, the floodwaters.
04:45You know, a lot of vehicles are realizing on the left side of the photo that the water is
04:51too high for them to go through.
04:52Because, of course, as you know, Captain, you know, trying to chance that you can ultimately
04:58damage your vehicle.
04:59Yeah.
04:59And, you know, the exhaust system and it costs a ton of money to repair.
05:03Many motorists have experienced this only to learn that the cost of the repairs.
05:08But apart from that, there is difficulty in determining the directional flow of the water
05:16and therefore vehicles are easily swept away.
05:18But we wish to remind people that we're into the hurricane season and this weekend's weather
05:24was as a result of a, it's still a tropical wave.
05:28It never got beyond that.
05:29But still, there was a chance of development.
05:32And as you know, it affected the game last night in St. Lucia.
05:37Right.
05:37St. Lucia had a tremendous amount of rain.
05:41Actually, they were anticipating further development of the system right over St. Lucia.
05:47So, very impactful weather, Mark.
05:51So, Mark, as we talk about missing persons, there are two cases I wanted to highlight today.
05:59And the first one is that of Mr. Thomas.
06:03Thomas, Thomas, really.
06:06Anthony Thomas.
06:06Anthony Thomas.
06:08He was involved in the accident with the PTSD bus.
06:11And he was taken to hospital.
06:14Nobody knew his name.
06:16He couldn't speak because they had an operation.
06:18They had to operate on his jaw.
06:20And he was there for three days.
06:23His family was in anguish.
06:2480-year-old Anthony Thomas was missing.
06:27And from all reports, a healthy 80-year-old.
06:31And eventually, he was spotted in the ward for San Fernando General Hospital by someone.
06:38They recognized him.
06:40And they contacted both Hunter's search and rescue team and the relatives.
06:45And so, he was located.
06:47But it goes back to that accident.
06:49You remember the accident on the highway?
06:51And then, we had this gentleman, Harry Gouvardhan.
06:56You remember this case?
06:57He departed Washington, D.C.
06:59Oh, yes.
06:59And was heading to Trinidad.
07:01And there was a delay in Miami.
07:04Well, eventually, he was found on the outskirts of the airport.
07:09You know.
07:10And, you know, we wish to remind persons, especially those, the elderly, to be careful with them.
07:16You have to walk through, walk, ensure that they are well taken care of.
07:22Sometimes, you have to pay an assistant to accompany the wheelchair.
07:25And they will look after these persons who are traveling from country to country.
07:32And so, those were two cases that I wanted to highlight, Mark.
07:37And then, there is this case of Avazone Miller from Point 14.
07:42And, Mark, this is a case of moving from anguish to anguish.
07:49The family had to wait two years.
07:52I recall this case.
07:53They sat there waiting for the results.
07:55They contacted hunters and search and rescue team for assistance.
08:00I referred the media to the family.
08:03The stories were carried.
08:04And two days after the stories were carried, they got the DNA test results.
08:10And now, they have a further problem in that the body of Avazone Miller up to today cannot be located.
08:17So, they were so anxious to, you know, get her final rights going and depart her from this earthly world.
08:26And then, suddenly, now they have the challenge of not being able to locate the body.
08:30So, it's really arguing.
08:31And I think you raise a really salient point.
08:35Because, in the past, there have been a number of persons that have been missing.
08:39Some of them end up at the forensic science center.
08:42They are unclaimed.
08:44People have to look at all these things.
08:45And sometimes, they are even at the hospitals.
08:48Right.
08:49And also, at some of the funeral homes.
08:51Yes.
08:52Correct.
08:52Right.
08:52So, they were using the funeral homes to assist with the capacity in terms of holding these bodies.
09:00So, this family is still in anguish.
09:03And I know if the authorities are listening, we need to locate the body of Avazone Miller to achieve closure for this family from Point 14.
09:12They must have a paper trail.
09:15There must be some kind of accountability.
09:17Yeah.
09:17Because, you know, it's a victim of a suspected homicide.
09:23The body was removed from the location.
09:26You know, they would have found, you know, sorry, remains short while thereafter.
09:31Confirmed to be used.
09:33So, I don't know.
09:34They must have a paper trail of these things.
09:36This is very important.
09:36Especially with respect to homicide, you know, the paper trail must be meticulously kept, especially while awaiting DNA results.
09:48And something seems to have gone wrong.
09:50So, we are asking the authorities to correct it in the interest of the family.
09:55And they keep calling me all day today.
09:58You know, they were frustrated at not having gotten the body as yet to do her final rights.
10:04We are hopeful that, you know, the powers that be in the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service will be able to locate Ms. Miller's body in the shortest possible time.
10:14And, you know, not to have the family go through another set of pains and anguish after waiting two years to get that confirmation via DNA testing that the remains found at the beach in Point 14 was, in fact, Ms. Miller's.
10:32So, Ms. Miller, sorry.
10:34And also, we are hopeful that, you know, in the shortest possible time.
10:37Yeah, I'm hoping by tomorrow.
10:38You know, we will work with the family and the authorities to try and resolve that in the interest of the family.
10:44And hopefully, they could get that body by tomorrow.
10:49Mark, some of the things we do sometimes, you know, as hunters search and rescue team, we search for missing persons.
10:54We assist families when their loved ones go missing.
10:58But another dimension to our portfolio is really outreach programs.
11:04We have an extensive amount of knowledge in terms of safety and flooding and everything else.
11:13And during the last week, we were able to reach, we were invited to our presentation.
11:19We had to present to the Madras community in terms of disaster preparedness.
11:26Right.
11:26And we were invited by the Living Waters community.
11:31And what is interesting, and I hope there are people here from the Caronee River Plains listening.
11:38The Caronee River is a unique river in Trinidad in that it has a levee system on both the northern and southern banks of the river.
11:47And if those levees were to be broken, the impact on these communities would be very severe.
11:55And it's different.
11:56These are not slow rising waters.
11:59You're talking about waters that will rush into their homes and rise quickly, sometimes moving from zero to five to six feet in just a couple of minutes.
12:10So, interacting with the Madras community was very, very interesting, and we were able to share that experience with them.
12:19And there is another aspect of that marking that rescuers, like us, is difficult to reach communities, such as Madras, that whole St. Helena area, especially if there's a bridge.
12:34The Catmine and all those areas there are very low-lying areas.
12:38And you're right, when the rains fall and these...
12:41You remember what happened to this community near the Manuel Congo River some years ago?
12:49Greenvale.
12:49Greenvale.
12:50Right, where waters rose quickly up to the second floor.
12:54People had to be on their roofs.
12:55I was there.
12:56You were there, right?
12:56Yes.
12:57And there was difficulty in responding because, I mean, the thing is, it's difficult to respond.
13:03When we have four and five feet of water, how do rescuers, like ourselves, get to the scene in the first place with our vehicles?
13:11That's a difficulty.
13:12And so, Mark, and the other aspect of flooding that we do is that when you have flooding, we have the wildlife being dislocated as well.
13:23And so, on the weekend, we were able to get to this guy here, red-tailed boar constrictor, maybe evading the floodwaters.
13:33He got trapped in a plastic netting at someone's home in New Grand Princess Town.
13:37Right.
13:38And there is me holding the head while Andy, who is the resident, tries his best to get him out of this entanglement.
13:46But it's noteworthy.
13:48Once you have an increase in the volume of water in flooded areas, you will have wildlife coming out.
13:54And, you know, you call 799-1453.
13:58In fact, this morning, Mark, just as you see, Andy trying to get this animal sorted out.
14:05He has, we use a special knife with a curve.
14:08It has to be very sharp because the nylon strands are embedded in the animal's skin.
14:14And these are very strong animals.
14:19And this is it here.
14:20You know, a very big, is a very large red-tailed boar constrictor.
14:24And you can see the strength of him on my wrist there.
14:28He's a very strong animal.
14:30And he was released into our forest reserve just shortly after we were able to get him out of the entanglement.
14:37But this is another dimension to flooding.
14:40And I wanted to highlight this this afternoon.
14:43Well, I'm glad that he was freed and let back out into his natural habitat there.
14:49So, clearly some good work by you guys there.
14:51And, of course, I know in the coming months, you all will be faced with various challenges across the country with heavy rainfall.
14:58Yeah, heavy rainfall.
14:59This morning, we had a call out in Scotts Road, Peter.
15:03So, you know, there was flooding there over the weekend.
15:05And there was one large red-tailed boar constrictor that crossed the road and came onto our residence home.
15:12So, Yad, and she called us.
15:15By the time we got there, it had disappeared into some big bushes.
15:18But expect these different types of wildlife, especially snakes and spiders and so forth, to leave the holes and the forested areas, if they are flooded, to come to where it's safe.
15:31And that may be your home.
15:33All right.
15:35Moving on, of course, over the weekend, we had a couple of homicides.
15:38You know, unfortunately, there was a woman that was shot and killed, 40-year-old Makeda Saeed, killed on Friday night along the Eastern Main Road.
15:48And there was also a few other.
15:52This is a Mercedes here, unfortunately, meeting her demise by armed personnel, armed men, sorry.
15:59And we also had a shooting on Saturday night, I believe, of Arnold Singh was strapped out of his home.
16:09You know, bandits came into the house, ransacked the house, demanding cash and jewelry.
16:15And while one was rummaging through the valuables, his family was somewhere in another room, one of them placed a pillow over his head and shot him.
16:24So he died.
16:27Of course, they're not too certain because what the family or relatives were saying or told police, this is Arnold Singh here, was that he was known to be selling narcotics.
16:37But they're not certain if that was the motive involved here because clearly they came as a valuables.
16:43But sometimes they use that as a decoy.
16:45As a decoy, yeah.
16:46We don't know the entire specifics just yet.
16:50But, of course, that would have brought the country's homicide rate to 240.
16:56Yeah, Mark, and I did notice some other homicides on for the weekend as well.
17:00So condolences go out to these families.
17:05I know that's D.J. Nyabingi's daughter.
17:07Yes.
17:08The lady on the screen.
17:10And there, yes, and to the gentleman, I'll announce things, relatives as well.
17:18But there seems to have been just a, you know, a few murders too much over the weekend.
17:25I noticed that.
17:26Yeah.
17:27Moving on, of course, you know, over the weekend, there was a third lawman detained by police as they continue to, you know, issue these preventative detention orders
17:37under the emergency regulations of 2025.
17:41And that officer, who is based in the Southwestern Division, they went to the Barakpur Police Station around 4.45 on Friday.
17:51Officers of SIO and so on.
17:53And the officer was provided with a copy of the PDO and was granted the opportunity to communicate with his attorney.
18:00Then he was later escorted to the detention facility where he was handed over to the relevant prison authorities.
18:06So the third law enforcement person, a prison officer, and another police officer are held, I think, on Thursday last.
18:13So it brings the three law enforcement officers who are now incarcerated under the detention orders.
18:24As they continue, of course, you know, some of these orders, you don't get, you don't get to find out exactly what the PDO says until they obviously get zetted.
18:33You might have an idea, they might tell you something very general, but when you read the gazetted version, then you see.
18:40The details, but I mean, people, I saw some comments on people welcoming these, these detention orders of the law enforcement officers, because, you know, when you're out there, you know, you need to speak to this balance.
18:57It's not only criminals who need, you need to pay attention to, but they are rogue officers as well.
19:05All right, so let's take a quick look now at our state of emergency figures update for day 39.
19:16Number of operations, 2,874.
19:21Target priority offenders, 1,106.
19:24Searches conducted, 18,179.
19:27Traffic operations, 1,888.
19:30Total persons arrested, 1,183.
19:34Traffic offenses detected, 9,201.
19:37Firearms recovered, 43 pistols, 22 revolvers, 11 shotguns, 10 rifles, and 3 air rifles.
19:44624 rungs of 9 mm, 73 rungs of 12 gauge, 23 rungs of 0.380, 319 rungs of 5.56, 70 rungs of 0.38, 28 rungs of 0.40, 7 rungs of 0.357, 44 rungs of 0.45, and 48 rungs of 7.62.
20:06That's ammunition recovered.
20:08And last but not least, dangerous drug seized, 211,243.14 grams of marijuana, 6,752.13 grams of cocaine, 1,032 SAC pills, and 15 grams of molly.
20:25So, excellent going again, Mark, with firearms, and I noticed a distinct increase with respect to narcotics, both the marijuana and in cocaine.
20:36Yes.
20:36So, good going by the TTPS.
20:40Yes, as you continue.
20:42All right, let's take a quick look now at our headlines.
20:44All right, let's take a quick look now at our headlines.

22:22That was so...
22:23That was like a dream.
22:24An Aalto for a long while.
22:25I'm not lying.
22:26An Aalto jump out.
22:27I call me challenging.
22:28It was hard, but I'm fighting still.
22:30I started to feel nice.
22:31I started to feel sweet about myself.
22:33Before Aalto, I was so nervous, never understanding a lot of things.
22:37Aalto is a nice place to learn.
22:39Like if any student in this program made a mistake,
22:43all the other students will turn and help out that student.
22:48The teachers are very wonderful, which is one thing I love.

24:05Welcome back to Beyond the Tape.
24:17I'm your host, Mark Bessand, here with Captain Valence Rambrot of the Hunters Search and Rescue Team.
24:21And I know you're going to take us through the month of August of missing persons.
24:24Yes, Mark, and thus far we've had 26 reports of missing persons for the month of August.
24:30And we've been able, we've been unable to account for nine persons thus far.
24:36We still have that, that couple who, when missing down in the Laramene area, Samuel Montano and Zahida Mohamed.
24:46And as time goes by, you know, we hope the feeding for us or anybody to be able to locate their bodies.
24:55You know, there was a blood found on the bed and there were blood marks found along the seashore down in Laramene.
25:04So it's getting difficult, but we will keep them here for the month of August.
25:09And if not, well, we're not sure what will happen.
25:12And then we have Gabriel Bramble is missing still.
25:19Right.
25:2052 from the Tonopuna District and we're unable to get any information as to his whereabouts.
25:28There's nothing to suggest that harm would have come his way.
25:32It could have been that he would have moved on to some other part of the country.
25:36So if you have any information on Daryl Bramble, please contact the Tonopuna Police Station, call 7991453 or your nearest police station.
25:48Let's try and get some information on Daryl Bramble.
25:51And then we have Kanisha Kato.
25:55Kanisha Kato has been missing for a while.
25:58Now we know that she went to Hague Street in Karenage and we're unable to get any information on her thus far.
26:06If you're from the Karenage District and you have information or you're from any part of the country and you have information on Kanisha Kato,
26:15please don't hesitate to call the police or us at 7991453.
26:22And then Emily Ali, she went missing on a visit to Port of Spain, a supervised visit to Port of Spain from the St. Jude's Home for girls.
26:33And we still have no information on Emily Ali.
26:39So if you have information, please call the Children's Authority hotline.
26:45That's 996 or our team or the nearest police station so we could get Emily back under proper supervision.
26:54We also have a new case here, Jeremiah Alexander Mack.
26:59Right.
27:00Since the 2nd of July, he has been missing from Vega, Deo, Pooch, and Sandy Grande.
27:06His mother wasn't able to make a report earlier because she believed that he was by his father in Barataria, South.
27:13And it's only last week, she was able to establish that he wasn't there and she raised an alarm.
27:22And the area of interest up in Matsoura really is an area called Moratrice.
27:27And sometime this week, we'll be paying a visit there to try to see how we can help out his mother in locating him.
27:34But if you have information on Jeremiah, he doesn't have to be at Moratrice.
27:38He could be in any part of the country, please don't hesitate.
27:42Call Matoura Police Station, Sandy Grande Police Station, or call us at 799-1453.
27:50And Naresh, Baychan, we were in contact with Naresh family.
27:56And that number seems to have gone out of service over the past two days.
28:00I've been trying to contact the family.
28:02So, if you're hearing this, relatives of Naresh, Baychan, sorry, please call us at 799-1453.
28:11Or in the morning, I will have to call the Chagona's police station to get another number for the family.
28:19But please reach out to us, the relatives of Naresh, Baychan.
28:24So, Selena Gonzalez, she was on vacation from, again, a children's home, Amar.
28:32She was there in Beach.
28:34She was on two weeks vacation.
28:39And she went missing.
28:42And we've been trying to assist somebody in getting her back.
28:46So, if you're from, we do not believe she's in the Beach District, it's most likely she's in the Sandy Grande area.
28:52Please call us, get a hold of the Sandy Grande Police Station, or call us at 799-1453.
29:01Or ask for Sergeant Narine at the Beach Police Station.
29:05He will be able to, he has all the information on Selena Gonzalez at this point in time.
29:12And then we have Mark, we have Chris Williams.
29:19Now, Chris is a young man from the third company, Indian War District, and he does not drink or use drugs or anything.
29:29But he's a loner.
29:31He likes to be, you know, in his garden around there.
29:34But we've determined that his going out shoes and jacket like yours, Mark, is missing.
29:39So, we feel strongly that he went out to probably Princess Town.
29:44And it's very, very unusual for Chris Williams to be away.
29:48He has never been away from whom his relatives are concerned.
29:53And so, we will have to, you know, monitor and ask people in the Princess Town District, a very busy district,
30:00to please keep your eyes out for Chris Williams and call the Princess Town Police Station or 799-1453.
30:11He is around, he's somebody, you know, keeps to himself.
30:15He doesn't have any illnesses or his mental health is okay.
30:21So, we're very concerned about Chris and his whereabouts.
30:24What about Bees? Anything new?
30:26Nothing on Bees. We went to a particular area last week.
30:31We're following a particular feeling we have in terms of what, you know, where he would have been taken.
30:39So, I don't want to say much on that.
30:41And we will continue our work this week in terms of trying to assist the family to locate Teardo Bees' gun pad.
30:48All right, hopefully that these persons will be located in the shortest possible time.
30:53We're going to switch gears a little bit, of course, you know.
30:55This month, the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service is celebrating the 70th anniversary of women in the TTPS.

34:32welcome back to be on the tape i'm your host mark besan joined today by captain valence rambrath of the
34:36hunter search and rescue team and we're going to go quickly into your favorite segment voice of the
34:42people should go on us let's go
35:12you um you think there's a correlation between poverty and crime
35:18but with these are what people are using nobody i think people can give up and try to work
35:23and try to have things because um if you don't try you wouldn't get through
35:31what role you think schools could play in crime prevention in this country
35:34you know why you want the student to do the crime you need to pay the guest the penalty
35:47that similar like like a grown-up because they're doing things like a grown-up yeah so it don't make
35:53sense you try to be lenient on them then because i sure don't know what it is yeah and plenty of them
36:01do you feel safe at your home while you're working and so on well so far never really get myself to
36:08no problem with anybody because i try not to get nobody away what you think is your attraction for
36:16persons to become involved in crime kidnapping murders extortion last question well maybe how they expose
36:22yourself remember if you're wearing a lot of jewelry you're making yourself look like yes you know
36:33and four of the bandits are who they're going to and they're going to have people who don't pay well
36:39have money and right most of the people there captain yes so the gentleman spoke he asked him about crime
37:00and poverty and he said that um he doesn't believe there's a link and i have shared my thoughts on the
37:06program with respect to that and um i agree with him fully that there isn't telling that people
37:11there's still opportunity for people to get work and to get out there um mark the the the the the life
37:19of the working point from that and to be with difficult time we we could understand that because um at a
37:26time like this when you have you know children to send to school and purchase things it seems to be hard
37:32but if you go out there and you work and you earn your money you could you could get you could get
37:37by and you could get help their state programs their their their their their assistance program assist
37:44programs to assist you you could get by all we want you to do is you know be decent go and work hard
37:51and get employment so i agree with the gentleman fully and he spoke about um the schools and he says you
37:57know there should be an increase in the level of punishment with respect to students as they commit
38:04criminal they engage in criminal conduct just like adults and we saw you know recently that four
38:11students appeared before the court and then using another invention intervention now where 80 police
38:18officers srps would be would be posted to high-risk schools and i hope that that would result in a
38:26reduction in school violence for the calendar year 2025 going into 2026 but something had to be done
38:35with respect to that and then with respect to the kidnappings and you know what what what it is
38:41the gentleman spoke about flaunting your wealth yeah you know this heavy jewelry and probably a cars and
38:47whatnot and so you know to be a to to not be attracted to the criminal element we ask you you know not to
38:54flaunt your world openly there are people watching you they're taking note of you and they're watching
39:00what you have to try to you know take it from you yeah well said all right you know over the weekend uh
39:08apart from the homicides and and the rainfall uh we've been talking about this there were a couple of
39:14road traffic accidents uh we had one in the firstly in the densley area uh east trinidad of course and then there
39:21was um this is the one in the densley area here first
39:31and i i don't know who is trying to i i'm you know it's happened so so quickly but yet so
39:42the person who's coming down obviously and they both are them are seeing but all that maxi taxi is
39:47obviously parked as well would have caused the red to stay a bit on on on on on on the other side of
39:53the road but but so there is some distance yeah but this guy here the the car
40:00i would have thought
40:03you know this guy with the van sorry yeah right he had he had some room you know he had he had room
40:08he had room he could have put a little to the side i thought i thought he he should have you know
40:14access the situation slowed down and kept on his side a bit because this is a narrow roadway yes
40:20so because could barely fit and then you have that that maxi taxi you know parked but you know it it
40:28it's um you know protruding a bit and it will cause the drivers to keep to the other side i i think
40:33unfortunately that fan might be another yeah i i think so as well i'm looking at how he's positioned as
40:40vehicles here of course the investigators will determine but uh he's a little bit more on one
40:46side of the road than the next but you know he's avoiding a lot of potholes on this side as well if
40:51you watch it closely mark the water fill they look like it's a um wasa probably dug up there you can see
40:57the in neat cuts on the road so it's not a pothole it wasn't created well it's a pothole nevertheless but
41:04and so he's trying to avoid that as well look he's seeing it right down to the end of the street
41:09unfortunate situation we have to give red wrong yep we had another uh accident along the lady young
41:17road heading east and you're gonna capture it here pretty soon there it is wow
41:26so that person was coming down the street clearly was in a hurry uh because this guy is coming out
41:35and this guy continues because that's just after the lady young fly over there right right um so he's
41:42more or less i guess halfway out but again we'll have to wait to what to see what the investigators
41:48will determine yeah but it's a it's an accident in a high traffic area at high speed um but you know i i
41:57don't know how the prison survived that crash because normally these days when you have that type of
42:03collision you have road fatalities yes and we also had a third accident in the toko area as well
42:12um of course so you know this is uh vehicle overturned here i i did not hear that anybody was was um fatally
42:21injured of course but there might have been injuries um you know and all those employer persons you know
42:26when you're driving along these roadways and heading to toko and so on uh some some winding roads some
42:32winding roads yeah then you also factor that in with the weather with the weather conditions
42:36so you know it could be skaty and slippery mark we had a a small shower on the highway coming up in the
42:43gaspill area and we had we saw two um accidents yeah just just in the gaspill district so you know you
42:50have to be careful on the nation's roads most definitely all right we're going to take a short
42:55break and when we come back we'll take some of your calls stay with us

45:02welcome back to be on the tape i'm your host mark basan joined today by captain valence rambrat of the
45:09hunter search and rescue team and as we continue and during this month of course the theme of
45:14celebrating 70 years of women in the trinidad and tobago police service let's take a listen in on retired
45:21inspector julie carrington
45:34my name is julie carrington i am a retired woman police inspector 9775
45:44i was enlisted in the police service on the third of september 1976 at that time
46:0421 women police were then inducted in those early days i found that women police struggle for equality
46:17with their male counterparts this had me really concerned but i took my solace
46:28from a quote by Maya Angelou a very powerful woman who said you may write me down in history
46:42with your bitter twisted lies you may trod me to the very date but still like dust i rise
46:53i rise i rise i was determined to rise in the police service women police have contributed in no short
47:05measure towards the development of the police service i am proud to have served for 33 years
47:14and be part of that legacy today i wish all women police retired and those who are serving
47:27i wish them a happy 70th anniversary keep the flag flying girls
47:44i wish them a happy 50th anniversary keep the flag flying girls in the police service
47:48okay another another inspiring lady there of the trinidad and tobago police service retired inspector
47:57julie carrington speaking about when she entered in 1976 uh that struggle for equality and of course
48:03the women have come a long way since then yeah a trailblazer in the true sense of the word and a pioneer
48:10and um i could understand the circumstances there because it was a new still fairly new although you
48:16know in 1976 it would have been a few batches but still trying circumstances and she said you know
48:23like does she rose and she rose to inspector um rank and so we really have to salute yes julie carrington
48:34well done well done and for all those women who are now serving in uttps we also want to wish you you
48:47you know continued success as you continue your journey in the trinidad and tobago police service
48:52and of course we know some of them uh have assumed uh you know very high offices yes and um we're seeing
48:57they're cracking the glass ceiling the glass ceilings continuously yes they will do well and um they
49:04lend that nice um feminine touch to the police service you know with men we tend to be a little harsh and
49:11you know but they lend that and i've seen it out there um in throughout throughout our interactions with the
49:19trinidad and tobago police service as we visit police stations it's always nice to chat with them yeah
49:25speaking of visiting police stations of course uh there's a plethora of meetings coming up we want
49:31to tell you about uh the first is in irene in the southwestern division there is a tongue meeting
49:39on the 27th of august at 6 p.m at the ben osiris community center ben osiris trace irene so please
49:48come out you know the southwestern division the police commissioner said that they're going to be
49:52deploying more officers in that area of course you know we have that uh con a lot of contraband you
49:58know neighborhood net neighboring venezuela comes through that area there and of course if you have
50:05information or you can assist police um going forward in this area please come out and uh render your
50:12support yeah and buenos aires um it's a nice community i i thought i'm sorry i was principal at
50:20buenos aires government primary school nice and beautiful area so we encourage you to get out
50:25there and you have a brand new community center make use of it but these meetings are very informative
50:31as i said the last day i've used them as well you know to to speak about issues in my community and
50:39maybe sometimes issues with hunter search and rescue team very very good forum and they will act on what you
50:46what what what what what what bothers you yeah and of course we also have uh the northern central division
50:54town meeting that's on this thursday uh the north central division of course tunapuni tunapuni police
51:02station sorry uh on thursday 20th august at 6 p.m the tunapuna community center so please come out there
51:11again that's another area that has been in the past you know a lot of uh gang activity and so on and
51:16police have been asking for the assistance of the communities so for them to come out and help them
51:23make this area a safer area yeah and you know the the the police service is trying um it's utmost to try
51:31and reach communities and communities have been asking the police officers to get out there and talk to us
51:37so this is the forum to do so one of the forum to do so and please come out and and you know engage
51:43your police officers find out what they're doing here about the the what what are the statistics
51:50involved in the district and whether they're making improvement and you may have your particular
51:55concerns in your community come out and and let the officers hear those concerns and we cannot underlie
52:02the importance more of community involvement and assisting the police service and and doing
52:08their jobs better yeah you know that cooperation that symbiotic relationship is extremely important
52:14if we as citizens are serious about making this country safer and secure we must have that uh
52:22assistance and that collaborative effort from you the civilian civilians of trinidad and tobago and if crime
52:28is a national problem and you want to have you you ought as a patriotic citizen to be able to assist so
52:35come forward give information and let's try and reduce this crime problem it takes a lot of layers to get
52:42it resolved but we will do so with your corporation with the police we do a tremendous amount of work as
52:48well voluntary work to try to assist and if each one of us you know add a little gram here gram here you know
52:56eventually we will resolve this um crime problem now that has been endemic for quite a while all right
53:04i think we have a call on the line caller good evening welcome to be on the chair
53:10i think you know you're advertising this community for this thing is good but i don't want to call it
53:17division but i went to one of these meetings and i had serious concerns with the dddd and
53:24senior super was the inspector superintendent and everybody and you know none of the concerns that i raised
53:33not one one at this it just just felt like a blank air just felt like a blank air and i would be bold enough
53:42to say it was the cover station who was who had description yes so thank you whoever was there
53:48you know and there was great concern people making noise people all kinds of things which report was made
53:55and all kind of things and not a single thing so when they come back and ask about i just refused to go
54:00because they just waste my time completely i thought you know the senior super they were going to
54:06the offending officers was free and not a single thing you know i was expecting it after the program
54:12or a day or so how long ago was this caller because almost all information with him and nothing absolutely
54:20nothing was done about how long ago was this how long ago was this how long ago was this
54:25caller uh so he seems to have gone over that's an unfortunate situation of course because you
54:33would expect that when you have meetings like this um the police would follow up and give feedback to the
54:39residents or the community rather uh where they at and i i want to suggest uh he said a year ago
54:46apparently so we want to suggest that we will probably have to to reach out uh uh the senior super
54:52in the central area and ask what has become of some of those suggestions that uh you and other
54:57residents would have made or caller write down your suggestions or sorry write down the problems you
55:02are having in your community put your name put your phone number address it to the senior super and walk
55:08into the police station and and give give it to them it could be that they overwhelmed there's a lot of
55:14problems in the district um and some of these are still to be dealt with but just do that as a reminder
55:22don't give up don't give up all right that's a good suggestion we have another call online call it quickly
55:27of 30 seconds yeah thank you i want to congratulate the organization for this video with all the snakes they
55:39hold in and let's give snakes and so they have a lot of um good um whatever you call you know and i want to
55:47congratulate the police super you female police and them up for celebration of good work i thank them for their service
55:55and they have made an incredible mark on the contribution of the trans-regional police
56:00service i know the time is against me so all the attention has a pleasure thank you thank you so much
56:06caller we have 50 seconds caller much appreciated here we do a substantial amount of voluntary work and you
56:13too should come on board you know try and let's help our country if all of us contribute you know we
56:19will eventually get some we make some headway yeah certainly you know and caller thanks so much for
56:26that endorsement of the hunters and search and rescue team and of course uh by extension the
56:31congratulations to the all the women in the trinidad and tobago police service as they celebrate the
56:3770th anniversary uh this month you know culminating with several events uh coming down this weekend and so
