02:35Welcome to Beyond the Tape. I'm your host, Mark Bassand.
02:39Welcome to our viewers across Trinidad and Tobago.
02:54Our international viewers, and of course our brothers and sisters in the eyes of Grenada.
02:59It's Monday, the beginning of a new week, and it's a really feel-good start to the week.
03:04Of course, you know, the biggest news in the last couple of hours.
03:08TKR winning their fifth CPL title.
03:12And they were greeted at the airport earlier today with a lot of fanfare and so on.
03:21And we want to lift our hats, of course, to them and raise our glasses to Nicholas Puran, an esteemed captain there, coming out.
03:31A lot of people coming out soon around there.
03:34Really a great final.
03:36There was a lot of ups and downs, turns and twists.
03:41But in the end, of course, TKR really got over the line.
03:48See a lot of adoring fans here coming out to show their support for TKR.
04:00It was one of those moments, of course, that we would cherish winning the final in Guyana.
04:07And surely, you know, we have to be very proud of those boys, TKR.
04:13And, of course, equally proud, too, was retaining gold medalist Keyshawn Walcott and silver medalist Jareem Richards, who got in a couple of hours after TKR arrived.
04:24Been coming through the VIP lounge there.
04:29Of course, both capturing medals in the World Championships just about a week ago.
04:34And, you know, coming across back home and really another really proud moment for Trinidad and Tobago.
04:43There is a Minister of Sport, Mr. Philip Watts there, in tow with the two athletes as they come out.
04:50They meet the media and spoke to the media and so on.
04:53So we really want to congratulate all these athletes on the world stage for the feeling that they have brought us here, of course.
05:03And, you know, bittersweet moment, of course, you know, over the weekend, we had the unfortunate death of a 12-year-old Mariah Sinath,
05:13who, of course, was also recognized by the Trinidad and Tobago Football Association tribute sporting from her school, you know, from her cricket side and so on.
05:24A really sad situation finding 12-year-old Mariah Sinath near the Friendship Recreation Ground on Saturday afternoon.
05:33And an autopsy performed today revealed that she was beaten to death.
05:39So we are hopeful that homicide detectives will make a breakthrough in this case.
05:44And, you know, joining me today is none other than Captain Valence Rambert.
05:49How are you, sir?
05:50I'm fine.
05:51Thank you, Mark.
05:52A pleasant good evening to our viewership and be on the TV6.
05:55Mark, I share the joy of being a trainee to the bone today because, I mean, this weekend was awesome in terms of sport and the success of all sportsmen.
06:09And I could only describe the TKR game as a low-scoring thriller.
06:17And you did say it had numerous twists.
06:19Yes.
06:20And this is what makes cricket exciting.
06:22And, you know, there's a saying, the game isn't over until the fat lady sings.
06:28And that is, this is what happened at that final.
06:31Congratulations to Nicholas Puran and Trinidad and Tobago Knight Riders.
06:37And, of course, Jareem Richards and Kishon Walcott.
06:43Kishon for his gold medal in the Javelin.
06:48And Jareem for the 400 meters event in the World Championships.
06:54Jareem, in fact, is now the national holder of that 400 meter record.
07:00And I think, Mark, going forward, things are good for us, Madeline, at Los Angeles, 2028 for the next Olympics.
07:07Let's hope for the best. Fingers crossed.
07:09And we hope these guys continue to train.
07:11But, Mark, sport is a unifier for Trinidad and Tobago.
07:16And this country comes together.
07:19And, therefore, when people speak about investing in sport, they know what they speak about.
07:25It is really a unifier.
07:27It brings our people together.
07:29And, really, we are proud of our sportsmen.
07:33And you spoke about the bittersweet weekend as well.
07:36Mark, I, you know, earlier this year, we found the body of Malini Passat in Barakpur, a 14-year-old girl who was murdered.
07:47And, you know, a few months after, you have a 12-year-old girl found murdered in Friendship Village.
07:55And Friendship Village isn't far from Barakpur in South Trinidad.
08:00And, really, it was a big blood on this nation over the weekend.
08:05And, you know, just to sit down and try to go through what actually happened is mind-boggling.
08:14And it shakes your nerves.
08:17It makes your blood run cool that a young girl should have gone through that type of death.
08:23But, condolences to her family.
08:26And, as you said earlier, we hope that our homicide detectives are able to really apprehend the perpetrator
08:36and have him brought before the courts to face some sort of, to get some sort of justice for this family.
08:45Agreed.
08:46And, of course, we also want to extend our deepest sympathies to our media colleagues and to the family of Mr. Stirling Henderson,
08:56formerly the Deputy Head of News at I-95, which is under the umbrella of Caribbean Communications Network.
09:03His untimely passing on Saturday has left a really big void in the media fraternity.
09:12And, you know, it's just so strange that I actually spoke to him.
09:17Only on Wednesday last he called me and we had a brief conversation.
09:21And it was so surreal to wake up to that news.
09:24And we want to extend our deepest sympathies, like I said, to his family, to his friends, and to all his media colleagues.
09:32You know, you will be greatly missed.
09:35That barrito voice reading the news, we will never forget it.
09:38Yes, Mark and I had the pleasure to be interviewed many times by Stirling.
09:43And I always, you know, thought that his diction and enunciation was almost perfect.
09:51And, as you said, the baritone voice.
09:55Condolences to the media fraternity and his colleagues at I-95.5 FM.
10:02Stirling's voice will certainly be greatly missed.
10:07Yes, yes, he will be.
10:09Alright, so I don't know if you have any updates in terms of, we know that central businessman was kidnapped.
10:15Yes.
10:16Still outstanding, Imran Clubs Ali.
10:17Yeah, we've continued to conduct searches.
10:20And during this week, I believe on last Tuesday, we were out again.
10:25Imran's Clubs Ali has been missing since the 4th of September.
10:30He's from Charleyville.
10:33A well-known central businessman.
10:37And to this date, we've had no clues on leads that would have led us to all the authorities to locate him.
10:46And I believe this is on Tuesday.
10:49Look at some of these places.
10:50We have to go, Mark.
10:51We've really scoured most of central Trinidad.
10:55And, you know, we had a huge team out there on last Tuesday, again, following up with this search with the police in Karapo on the weekend before.
11:10And we continue to search for him.
11:13And as this week progresses, we will have another search on an area still outstanding.
11:21Alright, so we're hopeful that, you know, if you have any information, of course, don't hesitate to contact the police at 800-TIPS-999 or the Hunter Search and Rescue at 799-1453.
11:33So we were speaking earlier about the really sad death of Mariah Sinath and Express Photojournalist Dexter Phillips spoke with her father today.
11:45So let's take a listen.
11:46Let's take a listen.
12:16Let's take a listen.
12:17Let me raise the door and get on the right side.
12:18The door is oh my son.
12:19ST SMITH SEXTON!!!
12:20Well it hasn't rhalten dikkills and the door is close.
12:21Sister brother, do you have to hear them?
12:30The door stay brown.
12:32I can't wait after courses in the working video, it wasn't previously ready.
12:40The door stop doors enable him.
12:43I don't know how far he is chanting and he'll never come back home.
12:50He tells me I don't know about the cause of death right now. I have to wait on the post-mortem.
12:55What I see in the forensics is not pleasant because she has a bruise on her forehead here.
13:06I don't know about the bruise on her stomach.
13:10She has a bruise on her chest. But I see different things here today when I went up there.
13:15I seen her bruise over his skin peel off by her forehead here.
13:19And the nose is a piss. The nose is a brick.
13:25I know my daughter. I know my daughter. She's a tough little girl.
13:29She tried to fight back and she said what do this.
13:32Yeah. So we have to lose the industry.
13:36But we don't get into some lead arrest here at all.
13:39They have to suspect in mind.
13:43I don't have to say right now.
13:49I can't. I have words. I can't say nothing like in my head.
13:55I am going through some problems.
13:57And for this to come and happen, you know,
13:59I am in a different state now.
14:03I would like the authorities to get justice for my daughter.
14:07And I don't want this undone.
14:09I want it to finish.
14:11Down to the end.
14:12Right?
14:13That is...
14:14That is my...
14:16That...
14:17That is my eyeball.
14:21That is my big daughter.
14:23I work damn hard and I mind she...
14:25Right?
14:26The mother...
14:27The mother also get she...
14:28And get books and things for the child.
14:29For the child.
14:30Right?
14:31I just do...
14:32I just do construction work.
14:33I just work damn hard.
14:34Right?
14:35Who...
14:36That child don't interfere with nobody.
14:37She don't ask nobody for nothing.
14:39Right?
14:40If I give she $20, she spend $5.
14:42She keep in $15.
14:43Right?
14:44Me, I have no money she deserves.
14:45She says, Dad,
14:46You want $5.
14:47You want $10.
14:48You want $10.
14:49Or something.
14:50I'll tell you.
14:51What does she do?
14:53She's only 12 years, 13 years.
15:00She'll just...
15:01Spot the fine she here.
15:04Right?
15:05And it also had a hole, a pipe hole somewhere here.
15:12Pull up.
15:14Like the can run and then pull up.
15:16Look at this.
15:21Captain Ramarat.
15:22Very difficult to look at.
15:23Yeah.
15:24Difficult to look at.
15:25And you could understand the emotional distress of the father when he's saying he really can't
15:36take any more of this.
15:38He had some ongoing problems before and this has come and added additional distress to him.
15:44And I don't know how fathers and mothers take this.
15:47We dare with them when they have to come and look at their loved ones.
15:52And I always...
15:53And my teammates, you know, we often wonder how they have that strength to stand up and face this situation like this.
16:03And, you know, he said, Mark, that the child is his eyeball.
16:08And, you know, what is the relationship between fathers and the daughters?
16:12The fathers have a very close bond with their daughters.
16:16And he spoke to that and he's saying all of this is really causing him distress.
16:22He asked for justice and I'm sure the authorities will work hard to find the perpetrator and bring him before the courts.
16:29Just to give some context, of course, his daughters regularly use that trap when they're coming from school or even when they're going to their grandmother's house, which is not too far away.
16:40Right.
16:41So clearly somebody or some bodies, you know, would have, you know, pounced on her while she was making her way through that trap, perhaps, on her way to her grandmother, I think, the father had indicated.
16:52And, you know, they keep hopping on the fact that there was a pipe in a hole there and the pipe is missing.
16:57So I don't know if that was the weapon used.
16:59The post-mortem did reveal today.
17:01The spell probably was done just before he got the results that she was beaten to death.
17:06So, and he did allude to that as well with the marks he saw on her face, her nose is twisted.
17:11You know, all those things are indicative.
17:13Blood force trauma.
17:14Yes.
17:15So we are hopeful that, as you said, that in the earliest possible time, the homicide detectives, I know they have two suspects, but we are hopeful that if they are in fact the persons, that they go through the normal procedures and, you know, charges are laid if it happens.
17:32Right.
17:33And we are asking members of the public, if you have information, please contact the nearest police station so we could get some resolution.
17:39But Mark, two young girls murdered for 2025.
17:44As a country, this is not good enough.
17:47We have to do more to protect our children.
17:49And, you know, Mark, I did do an interview with the Express recently and think you had it on headlines where I spoke about Trinidad and Tobago being a very highly predatory country.
18:05And this bolsters what I'm saying.
18:08And we have to look after our children like hawks at all times.
18:13And we are advising members of the public, mothers and fathers, continue to look after your children.
18:19These people, they have to be brought to justice, you know.
18:24So, it's day 67 of the state of emergency.
18:28We just want to bring you up to speed with those figures.
18:31Number of operations, 4,704.
18:34Target priority offenders, 1,771.
18:38Sages conducted, 30,845.
18:41Traffic operations, 3,077.
18:44Total persons arrested, 2,172.
18:47Traffic offenses detected, 17,078.
18:52Firearms recovered, 62 pistols, 35 revolvers, 19 shotguns, 18 rifles, and 3 air rifles.
18:59Of course, ammunition recovered, 812 rounds of 9mm, 94 rounds of 12 gauge, 50 rounds of .382,
19:064 rounds of 16 gauge, 399 rounds of 5.56, 117 rounds of .38, 54 rounds of .40,
19:1516 rounds of .357, 54 rounds of .45, 17 rounds of .022, and 50 rounds of 7.62 to give you a grand total of 1,642 bullets.
19:27And then we have dangerous drugs seized, 237,134.02 grams of marijuana, 8,078.08 grams of cocaine, 1,032 STC pills, and 15 grams of molly.
19:43Right, Mark.
19:44And I think what would be nice is if we could get the tally of the firearms recovered for the entire year.
19:50Because, you know, we had a first SOE earlier in the year.
19:53Right.
19:54That would have, where the police TTPs would have recovered a substantial amount of firearms.
20:00Because the issue of firearms being on the illegal firearms being on our streets,
20:05really is at the center of the crime problem.
20:08And so it would be interesting to know, you know, how many firearms were recovered from January to September.
20:16So we can get an idea of, you know, how progress is being made in that direction.
20:23Because we have to get the guns off the streets.
20:25There's no if or maybe about it.
20:27Firearms and ammunition, we have to try and pull them off the streets.
20:33Right.
20:34Let's take a quick look now at our headlines.
20:37Let's take a quick look now.
20:59We'll have more after this break, stay with us.
21:29We'll have more after this break.

23:00I'm your host, Mark Bassan, of course.
23:04I'm your host, Mark Bassan.
23:07I'm the captain of your host, Mark Bassan, of course, joined today by Captain Valance Rambath of the Hunters Search and Rescue Team.
23:10and he's going to take us through the missing persons update for the month of September.
23:15Yes, Mark, and as I said on last Monday, September tends to be a very slow month.
23:22It's not keeping up with the national average of one missing person per day.
23:27So today is the 22nd of September, and for the month thus far, we've had 17 persons, 17 reports of missing persons.
23:39Of the 17, eight remains outstanding, and these outstanding persons are, of course, we dealt with Imraz Clubsalli from Charleyville, the missing central businessman,
23:53and if you have any information, there's an ongoing search for him by the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service and his relatives, friends, and our team.
24:04And if you have any information, call the nearest police station or call 799-1453.
24:14We'll be back out in the field again looking for Imraz sometime this week.
24:20Once we have information and once members of the public can provide us with any lead, we will head out into the field.
24:28And we have Karina, Karina, Sinana, and Mark.
24:34And I want to appeal to the persons and members of the public or persons living in the Blanchishers district.
24:43Karina is 15 years old.
24:46This is, she's familiar to us.
24:48This is not, she's a repeated runaway teenager.
24:52And Karina is in the village of Blanchishers, and Karina was witness to a shooting last night in Blanchishers.
25:03In fact, she's closely involved with those persons who are involved in the shooting.
25:08And so, I want to ask Karina and the persons in Blanchishers to please report her location to the Blanchishers police station.
25:18Or if not, after the program, just call me at 799-1453.
25:24I want to make an appeal to Karina Sinana.
25:27This is not the first time you know of us.
25:30Please, please get a phone and call me.
25:33And turn yourself in to the Blanchishers police station before you get into further trouble.
25:42Mark, a very, very troubling case that arose last night into this morning.
25:48And then we have Weijang Huang.
25:53And Mark, there's absolutely no information with respect to his location.
26:00I know the authorities are working closely with immigration and other units to really try to locate him.
26:09The contact we have for Weijang Huang.
26:12We have a issue with a language barrier.
26:15And that's why, you see, we haven't gone out into the field for Weijang Huang as yet.
26:21But please, if you have information, contact your nearest police station or call us at 799-1453.
26:31And Mark, we have the next three missing persons for September comes from the Children's Authority.
26:38And when the Children's Authority poses a missing person bulletin, you would know that these persons would have run away from the Children's Home.
26:52And Natalie Richardson, she was last seen in the La Hocketa area.
26:56She's 17 years old.
26:58And if you have information, you can contact the Children's Authority at 996 or the police or our team at 799-1453.
27:10And then we have a young man by the name of JJ, last seen in JJ Alam, last seen in the Santa Cruz area.
27:20He's 16 years old.
27:21And if you see him, please contact the authorities.
27:26It is time that these young children, young adolescents, get back under the jurisdiction of the Children's Authority.
27:37And Millie Castillo is no stranger to us.
27:40Again, she's a repeat runaway teenager.
27:43She was last seen in the Enterprise District.
27:45So Millie, you know us well, try and reach out to us.
27:50Let's try and sort out your business and get you back under the jurisdiction of the Children's Authority.
28:02So we have Andy Gerard, who is 65 years old.
28:06He's missing from the La Bray District.
28:08So we're asking anybody from the La Bray area, if you saw Andy, please contact the La Bray Police Station, 799-1453, our team.
28:20And let's see if we could get him home.
28:24Our information is that he may have left the La Bray area.
28:27We're not sure if he went in the direction of Point 14 or would have made his way up to San Fernando area.
28:35Salim Jack is a young man, 27 years old.
28:39His mental health mark is compromised.
28:42He's from the Old Town Road, Arima area, where he lives alone in a home.
28:47And he's always walking in and around that Old Town Road, Arima area.
28:54But we find it strange that nobody has seen Salim Jack since the 6th of September.
29:03And so currently, checks have been made in the prison system, in the health system.
29:10By tomorrow, we should finish those checks.
29:13And so we are appealing to persons in that Old Town Road, Arima area and environs.
29:18Please contact the Arima Police Station if you spot Salim Jack or call us at 799-1453.
29:27And Mark, those were the missing persons for September.
29:33All right.
29:33So as I said, if you have any information on any of those persons, you can contact the Hunter, Search and Rescue at 799-1453.
29:41Or, of course, you can contact your nearest police station.
29:44Speaking of police stations and so on, we really wanted to commend the police in the Sang-Ligani area.
29:52They responded to an alleged attempted robbery where they were going to actually two suspects target persons who were watching the CPL final.
30:04The officers intercepted the vehicle.
30:08The suspects allegedly opened fire.
30:09Police said they returned fire in self-defense.
30:11The deceased were identified as Shaheen Nuki Trankosa and Henrik Garcia, both of Upper Kunapa Road coal mine Sang-Grandi.
30:23Police confirmed that Garcia was a member of the Trinidad and Tobago Riflemen Gang.
30:29And so they found a Plum Crazy AR-15 rifle loaded with 25 rounds of 5.56 armor, piercing ammunition, along with several spin shells, live rounds, and bullet fragments.
30:43So, you know, one of the police vehicles got some damage to the right side mirror during the gunfire exchange.
30:49The suspect's vehicle was seized and was taken to the Sang-Ligani police station.
30:53The recommendation to the police for a job well done in this matter because, you know, when you get these AR-15 rifles, you know, they're very destructive.
31:06And, you know, I always think about the officers who have to put their lives on line to, you know, approach these persons with these automatic rifles, knowing that, you know, one bullet from that AR-15 rifle could end their life.
31:23So, commendations to the officers, a job well done in the Eastern Division.
31:29And, yeah, we don't like to hear when a defense force person is involved because, you know, we want to know that all law enforcement personnel are above the law.
31:41Yeah, well, there was also another incident yesterday evening involving a regiment, Soler, who's now in hospital after he was allegedly shot by an off-duty police officer.
31:52That happened in the San Juan area.
31:54It stems, they say, from a domestic dispute, but we are hopeful that the officer connected to the defense force, or Soler, rather, will make a full recovery.
32:05And, of course, the off-duty police officer, said to be from the Guard and Emergency Branch, is now assisting police in their investigations into that shooting.
32:13Yeah, and that's unfortunate because with the job comes that discipline, and you have to exercise discipline in very stressful conditions.
32:23We know it's a domestic, it was, it probably is a domestic dispute, but you have to exercise due care and attention with respect to things like firearms.
32:33Yes, Mark, especially hunters as well, you know, you have your shotguns, you have to store it properly, and you use it for the purpose intended only, and not to resolve your domestic issues.
32:45So it's rather unfortunate, but, you know, we expect that level of discipline to come from law enforcement officers.
32:53All right, so we're going to take a short break, and when we come back, we'll have more. Stay with us.

34:41Welcome back to Beyond the Tape. I'm your host, Mark Bassan, joined today by Captain Valence Rambrath of the Hunter's Search and Rescue Team.
34:56I know for a long time, South Trinidad has been asking for voice of the people.
35:00So, we went to San Fernando, voice of the people. Let's go.
35:03What about police officers now in the schools, the initiative?
35:29Yeah, well, police officers in the schools, that will curve a lot of the fighting and the violence in the school.
35:37But outside the school, they're going to help it.
35:41Okay, you understand what will happen?
35:43Outside the schools, the police not there.
35:46Sure.
35:47But at the end of the day, at the end of the day, it's the parents.
35:53The parents had to deal with their children from home.
35:59It has a lot to do with the upbringing.
36:02What do you think communities can do to reduce crimes in their communities, the persons in those communities?
36:08Well, like, everybody had to come together as one and O, which is something near relief.
36:16It's kind of hard to get that in communities now.
36:20Because it's a kind of selfish world, everybody by their self.
36:26And road safety, what do you think, what do you think that persons, motorists could do to reduce accidents in this country?
36:33Motorists, as a man on the road every day.
36:35Obey the law.
36:36Obey the law.
36:45Voice of the people, Captain.
36:47Oh, yeah.
36:47Mark, I'm looking at the height differential.
36:49I know he was standing lower than you, but still, that's about nearly three feet between you and him.
36:55Yeah, because he had to stay near his, the taxis were moving up.
36:58Taxis.
36:59So, just in case, my cameraman shot wide, so he says, don't worry, Vin, if you have to drive up, we'll film you.
37:06While you're driving up.
37:07So, that's why I stood on the pavement.
37:09Right.
37:09So, he was asked about the school policing initiative.
37:14And he said, it's a good thing for the school system.
37:17And he was direct on the, he was direct.
37:19He said, you know, this is to help with school violence.
37:22And I think that was the purpose of the initiative.
37:26But he did say, now things will get quiet within the school.
37:30Yeah.
37:31What happens to when, can they now handle what happens outside the school and he's a taxi driver.
37:38So, you would have seen these fights taking place while children gather waiting for taxis and doing all sorts of things.
37:45And I think part of the initiative, too, is really to have regular patrols.
37:50And at one point in time, you know, there were also officers posted to ensure that these children get home quickly by a certain time.
37:59If your school finishes at 2.30 p.m. by 3.00, 3.15, you would have made your way home by a taxi or whether somebody's picking you up.
38:08And I know as an initiative, I'm not sure if it's there, but it should be continued to ensure that, you know, we get our children home quickly and safely at the same time.
38:19He spoke about community and he's correct.
38:23We used to be, you know, the village that raised a child and we no longer like that.
38:29We all in our own silos and he says it's difficult to bring communities together to, um, to, to, to help with crime.
38:39But I know of neighborhood watch groups that function.
38:42Mark, when we went to, um, the pilot, remember his vehicle up there in, uh, Cascade, Mount Hololo, they had a very active neighborhood watch group and they were able to actually pull pictures of the vehicle there from, you know, the day before.
38:59And get it out to the public's attention and to the police attention and, um, that is how communities could get together.
39:07Um, yes, you have communities, people living by themselves, building these, um, well protected houses and with security cameras and whatnot.
39:17But at the end of the day, you live in a community and when you protect your community, you're more safe than if you're working by yourself.
39:24And, um, what was it to this year?
39:28Everything, but one of the things that, um, that we spoke about with police in schools, ironically, the day before, there was a fight that broke out after school.
39:39Right.
39:40Uh, near the La Peak Plaza area, there were at least three people that we spoke to.
39:44And when they asked that question, it immediately sprang to their mind because they were working around there.
39:48And the guy said the police were, were there within a minute or two.
39:51Oh, that was great.
39:52And they broke up the, the fight because I guess, you know, police nearby on patrol or in the schools were coming out or so on.
39:58Yeah.
39:59And they were able to, to quell at the students quite quickly.
40:02Right. So right where you have La Peak Plaza, there you have a number of taxi stands taking people to various parts of, um, South Trinidad.
40:11And therefore, yes, you're correct.
40:14But I was happy, I'm happy to know that the, um, the, the fight was dealt with quickly because that's, that is one situation or one element in the whole school, um, violence is problem in Trinidad.
40:27Yeah.
40:28I think the last question had to deal with, uh, the motoring public, you know, what they could do to reduce accidents.
40:33Oh, right. And he said, obey the law.
40:35And from a taxi driver, um, it was good to hear that from him.
40:40But, you know, talking about, um, uh, uh, breaking the law and, and, and, and, and, and, you know, road safety.
40:49I'm not sure if we're dealing with it, Mark, but there was a, a, a pedestrian.
40:54Yes. There was a hit and run over the weekend.
40:56Down there, down Chandan ago.
40:58Yeah. Just by the Syrian brothers.
41:00Yeah. And right there, there's a walk over.
41:02Yeah.
41:03That's why I raised it with you.
41:04Yeah.
41:05I meant to, to go, go to it at some point.
41:07At some point.
41:08It kind of fell in at this time.
41:09Right.
41:10So, you know, many years ago there was an incident there and the community clambered for a walk
41:15over and it was built.
41:17And, um, certainly the gentleman, 65 year old, condolences to his family.
41:22Um, he lived alone, but he wasn't, he did, he, he did, he chose to cross the highway rather than to use the walk over.
41:31The walk over is right there where he got in accident and where he died.
41:36And there was actually a similar incident, not far away from there a couple of months ago.
41:41Right.
41:42As well, where another pedestrian was struck and killed.
41:44Near one of those, um.
41:45Yeah.
41:46Yeah.
41:47Just in the, just in the vicinity, I was reading in the express today when they said that an accident occurred not too far away from there a couple of weeks ago.
41:53So we have plenty of persons, Mark, those, those crossovers, I could tell you.
41:57Recently one of our members had to use it to get to us and it took him almost 10 minutes and he's a very swift guy, young, fit.
42:0610 minutes.
42:07Better safe than sorry would be my, my statement.
42:09Better safe than sorry.
42:10It's long because they create these long ramps for the, for wheelchair users.
42:14And then you go up another way and then you get onto them.
42:15And for the elderly to use them, right?
42:18But, you know, it's better safe than sorry.
42:21Use the, the, the, the, the crossings, please.
42:24Alright, we're going to take a short break and when we come back we'll take some of your calls.
42:28Stay with us.
42:29Go, go, go, go, go.
42:36Go, go, go, go, go, go.
42:41Okay, I see you, okay, let me see you Cherry Hill.
42:47Uh, yeah, now take it back.
42:49Uh, let me see you, rock off, rock off, uh, shake off, shake off.
42:53Let me see you, rock off, rock off.
42:55Let me see you kick right, now kick left, now step forward, now step back.

44:00Welcome back to The On Tape. I'm your host, Mark Bussan.
44:10Of course, joined today by Captain Valence Rambraat of the Hunters Search and Rescue Team.
44:15We want to remind you of the numbers to call.
44:17623-1711.
44:20Extensions 1996 and 1997.
44:23So, we were talking earlier, you mentioned the number of firearms that have been seized over the last couple of months.
44:33And no doubt, this is a reason why we need to get illegal firearms off the street.
44:38This was an incident captured near the, where they're building the U.S. Embassy along the Long Circular Road,
44:45Marva area, involving a shooting.
44:49You would see very shortly a gunman pursuing some persons.
44:53And we understand that at least two men were shot and wounded during this exchange of gunfire.
45:02So, one person jumps the wall and the other is trying to make a history and another gunman pursues the second man with another firearm.
45:14So, the first gunman seems to be a very heavy-duty weapon.
45:19Yes.
45:20High-powered, sorry.
45:21High-powered.
45:21High-powered, sorry.
45:51High-powered.
45:52High-powered.
45:53And the driver, yeah, he's running his gunman now after the, after the, after the, um, the attempt to harm these young, these men.
45:58Well, it's reminiscent of the Wild Wild West, this, this particular situation, young men, young men running on the streets with firearms trying to settle scores.
46:08Yep.
46:09And they're using, um, firearms rather than dial-out, dial-out, the old preferred way to settle.
46:15It appears it looks like a high-powered weapon.
46:17It is, it is a high-powered, um, weapon.
46:20The driver, yeah, he's running, yeah, it's, it's in his hand, we can see it.
46:23Yeah.
46:24The driver, uh, of course, reverses the vehicle to pick up the, the gunman.
46:28Um, one that went, gave pursuit and the other who, of course, came out.
46:33Yeah, we could have, uh, have an additional, um, two murders on our hands.
46:38Yeah.
46:39Yeah.
46:40So, of course, anybody with information about this particular incident, you know, even the number plate, I'm certain the police will be scouring that footage, uh, looking for the number plates.
46:48And more than likely it's always false number plates they use when they are going to do illicit activities like this.
47:00But it's a brazen, it's a brazen attack.
47:03Most definitely.
47:04And these are the types of attacks that, you know, cause the population to be fearful and to be fearful of crime.
47:10Yeah.
47:11All right.
47:12So, over the weekend there, there was also a number of, uh, RTAs or road traffic accidents.
47:17We had, uh, a couple, of course, we did mention, uh, a pedestrian was struck and killed along the Solomon Hoechoy Highway there in Ishiguanas area.
47:25And then we also had a, uh, accident at the Anna Street Woodbrook area here.
47:33So, you're seeing that's near the stadium there.
47:36Right.
47:37Two vehicles, um, and that is always a very dangerous intersection, Captain, because if you're coming down, uh, heading, uh, south along that roadway, uh, and you're waiting for the light to turn, of course, to go onto the west, westbound lane to go to a movie town.
47:52Right.
47:53There are persons that actually break that light coming down right in road at times.
47:56Yes, I have seen it.
47:57And even when you have the right away, you have to wait.
47:59You have to wait, yeah.
48:00Because they break the red light.
48:02And, of course, this is a result of something like that would have happened.
48:06Possibly, yeah.
48:07Possibly.
48:08Right.
48:09So, we're asking motorists to, to be careful on the roadways.
48:11We're having too much RTAs on our nation's roads.
48:15Yeah.
48:16So, this is, this is the one there.
48:18Yeah.
48:19As I said before, right in the vicinity of the Wrightson Road there on Anna Street at intersection
48:24there.
48:25Two vehicles.
48:26We're hopeful that, uh, you know, nobody was injured badly.
48:29Yeah.
48:30And then there was also another accident in the Penal Rock Road area.
48:34This is it here.
48:35Vehicle, um, seemed to have creed off the road.
48:38Um, it's, um, halfway on its side.
48:42And, um, if you listen to the audio on this Mark, the, the, the person who was filming this,
48:49if you listen to him, he would have said the vehicle flew, flew and arrived in that position.
48:57Um, and, um, you know, he was certainly doing some numbers there.
49:01Thankfully, he didn't, me, I, we hope he didn't, he didn't hit another vehicle on, in
49:07terms of getting to.
49:09Or anyone, or anyone.
49:10Or anyone.
49:11Anyone.
49:12Yeah.
49:13It seems that.
49:14Arriving at that position.
49:15It looks like it has a train or something there.
49:16Yeah.
49:17He said individual, if you listen to it.
49:18It stopped.
49:19He said it flew over the train.
49:20Wow.
49:21Yeah.
49:22So again, you know, you all have to be mindful of speed.
49:24And, uh, you know, you're supposed to observe the speed limit, uh, if you're on the highway
49:29a hundred kilometers.
49:30And in various roadways, they will be even less.
49:3380, 60, 50 even.
49:3665.
49:37Yeah.
49:38And for the vehicle to remain in that position, you would have had to be speeding because you
49:43would have sunk the front of the vehicle into probably mud or something like that.
49:48Notice how the vehicle did not, um, fall flat.
49:51So, therefore, it had to be that he was speeding down that, that, that, that road.
49:56And, um, this is the result of speeding.
49:59Yeah.
50:00There was also an accident along the Eastern Main Road, uh, in Mount Door area.
50:04Sorry.
50:05Eastern.
50:06Yeah.
50:07Eastern Main Road in Mount Door area as well.
50:08Um, and there was a pedestrian, I believe, also knocked down on the priority bus route in San Juan, um, yesterday.
50:17And this is the accident in the Champ, the Mount Door area there.
50:21Yeah.
50:22Uh, again, two vehicles.
50:24The one on the side there, the orange.
50:26And then we have the, uh, what appears to be Almero.
50:29And it's been, of course, pushed out of the roadway.
50:33Yeah.
50:34Uh, impact, frontal impact there.
50:36Uh, either he struck, he ran into somebody.
50:38And this was the one, uh, in the priority bus route in the San Juan area.
50:43Um, a pedestrian struck.
50:45We understand that, um, he was not badly hurt.
50:49Mm-hmm.
50:50Uh, contrary to reports that, uh, they were saying that the person had, had, uh, died.
50:55Yeah.
50:56Uh, but we were told us that, uh, he was taken to the hospital and he seems to be okay.
51:00Right.
51:01But in the, in the previous video, um, Mark, what I'm noticing on our, in terms of coming
51:07to our city centers and town centers is that, you know, you have, you have people, persons
51:13with their vehicles, um, parking in front of business places.
51:17And, and, and, and there's a problem when they have to egress onto our main roads.
51:22Yeah.
51:23Um, that creates traffic.
51:25And, um, I was looking at, at, at the orange vehicle, how it's parked in that, um, that,
51:31in the front of that business place.
51:33And I'm.
51:34Right.
51:35Wondering whether such a situation, um, did not cause the accident.
51:39Because it's of concern, um, it should be of concern because I know that, um, yes,
51:45you have to patronize your business.
51:47It's probably legal, but you know, I'm looking at it and I'm wondering whether, you know,
51:52it was an, uh, trying to get out of a business place.
51:55Yeah.
51:56And that's how the accident occurred because a lot of accidents happened that way.
52:00Yeah.
52:01You're right.
52:02You know, I just, uh, we just have to be a little more mindful on the nation's roadways.
52:05Uh, too many accidents on the roadways.
52:08Uh, somebody's always in a rush.
52:10Yeah.
52:11You have, uh, persons, you know, especially on the weekend, we have this, like, the numbers
52:15go up for accidents.
52:16Yeah.
52:17Yeah.
52:18You're seeing it on social media.
52:19When you arrive, you begin to get a lot of, um, road traffic accidents, smashes, crashes,
52:26spills happening on our roadways.
52:29Right.
52:30Okay.
52:31Let's, let's just take a look at this, uh, interesting video.
52:34Uh, it's a suspect, uh, appearing, uh, on the compound of a masjid.
52:41Yeah.
52:42And, uh, he's looking around, looking rather sneaky.
52:45Yeah.
52:46Sparing inside, uh, you know, looking around to see if anybody's, is around.
52:51And then, there's what appears to be a bicycle in the corner there.
52:56You're just barely seeing the wheel.
52:58Yeah.
52:59I think that might have been the target of his, um, his pursuit.
53:01Yeah.
53:02Exactly.
53:03And you're seeing it, the, the, the wheel just behind the pillar.
53:06Yeah.
53:07And, uh, he's moving stealthily.
53:11Yes.
53:12Yeah.
53:13He's making sure no one's around, uh, before he decides to cut away what is not his own.
53:18Yeah.
53:19But, uh, the property of someone else.
53:21Yeah.
53:22And he's taking his, his time about it.
53:24He's not in a hurry thus far.
53:26Uh, I'm wondering, you know, why he's taking this long, what, what is on his mind.
53:32But certainly, um, he wants someone else property.
53:37Ah, there he goes.
53:40There he goes.
53:41There he goes.
53:42And he is gingerly walking with the bike.
53:45He's, he's, he's almost like he's step-toeing, eh?
53:48Yeah, he's step-toeing.
53:49He's moving very quietly.
53:51Yeah.
53:52And, um, I think he's going to try to ride off into the sunset now.
53:59That is exactly what he does here.
54:01He rides off, out of camera, probably didn't even know that there was a camera.
54:06Yeah.
54:07Yeah.
54:08And he gets onto the roadway.
54:09Yeah.
54:10And he's gone.
54:11He's gone, yeah.
54:12He's gone, yeah.
54:13He's gone, yeah.
54:14He's gone, yeah.
54:15He's gone, yeah.
54:16Um, you know, caught earlier on maybe crossing the street towards the masjid.
54:21If you have any information concerning this particular individual or his whereabouts, please contact the nearest police station, 800-TIPS-999 so that that bicycle can be returned to its rightful owner.
54:37And you see how important CC cameras are, eh?
54:41Because I am sure this crime would have been solved using the technology of CCTV cameras.
54:48Yes, certainly.
54:49Yeah.
54:50It's very important in terms of, um, you know, reducing crime and helping the, the, the, the,
54:57the TTPS with solving crime.
54:59And that's why there's been a large uptick in, uh, persons purchasing CCTV cameras where they install in and around their homes.
55:08Of course, it, uh, acts as a particular deterrent.
55:11Yes, it does.
55:12In some cases.
55:13It does.
55:14But it also helps you to record any particular, uh, activities, strange activities in and around your, uh, homes.
55:19Yeah.
55:20Or even capturing a crime in progress.
55:22Yes.
55:23It is very, very useful.
55:24And the technology is, is superb.
55:27We've used it, um, while we look, looking for, uh, missing persons.
55:32And I can tell you that it, it accesses us and the authorities tremendously.
55:38Yeah.
55:39Well, yeah.
55:40You know, it's, it's important that you, you help to secure your premises, not just by high walls or fences.
55:46Uh, but you know, you have to invest in security cameras, uh, if you at least want to have an extra layer.
55:53Yeah.
55:54But going back to the video, you know, these, these places are for worship.
55:58When you're growing up, you know, in terms of learning your, your morals and values, you know, these persons, these places were really out of bounds for any untoward activities.
56:09And, you know, today you see people, you know, not even thinking about this as a place of worship and they have no qualms about just entering onto a religious, um, a place that's considered sanctimonious and just, you know, stealing.
56:25Yeah.
56:26Yeah.
56:27It's, it's, it's, it's that bad now.
56:28But, um.
56:29Yeah.
56:30As I say, we know that it's only a matter of time before that suspect is caught.
56:36Yeah.
56:37And the bicycle will be returned to.
56:40Do it.
56:41Right.
56:42Right.
56:43Right for owner.
56:44Yeah.
56:45It's a towing business there.
56:46Yes.
56:47Mark, um, so our team, um, is run by an executive.
56:49The executive ensures that we have everything in place for when we go on switches.
56:53That's executive is chaired by Mr. Johnny Maraj, who really is a great asset to our team.
57:00And his birthday, um, was yesterday and we want to wish Mr. Johnny Maraj a special happy birthday, Johnny.
57:10Um, he's really a key person to our team.
57:13All the best to you, Johnny.
57:14Of course, remember the TV6 news is up next and we'll see you back here tomorrow at 6 PM.
57:20Have a good one.
