03:33A message from the GTPS.
03:35Welcome to Beyond the T.A.P.
03:52I'm your host Mark Bassan.
03:53Welcome to our viewers across Trinidad and Tobago
03:56and of course our global viewers
03:58and our brothers and sisters in the Isles of Grenada.
04:01It's Monday, it's the beginning of another work week
04:05and of course over the weekend
04:06we had a pretty busy, rather bloody weekend
04:10triple murder in the Belmont area
04:13and we also had a kidnapping last night
04:17in the Valsane area.
04:19Of course a little later in the program
04:20we'll speak about those things in more detail.
04:24Today with us is none other than
04:26Hunter's Search and Rescue Team
04:28Mr. Valance Rambarat.
04:30Welcome sir, how are you?
04:31How was your weekend?
04:32I'm fine, thank you Mark.
04:34A pleasant good evening to our viewers
04:37on TV6 and Beyond the T.A.P.
04:39I had a, since I left Beyond the T.A.P.
04:42last Monday, we've been pretty busy
04:44searching for missing persons.
04:48Really no time for relaxation
04:50and as normal when we leave here tonight
04:54we have to go on our search
04:55and we should go on our district.
04:57But really, you know, we got some calls on the way up
05:02so it seems that the task we have
05:05has just gotten more onerous
05:07in that lots of requests for us to go out
05:10and find batsmen for our West Indies team.
05:15I think 27 all out.
05:18Yes.
05:18I mean, I think there's a clarion call
05:21throughout the Caribbean
05:23for batsmen who want to represent the West Indies.
05:27And this can bat all day.
05:29Certainly.
05:30You know.
05:30So we have to go.
05:31So I think you should join us, Mark, on that search.
05:34We have to get batsmen
05:36who can stand up to these Aussie quickies
05:39and we have good bowlers, eh?
05:41Yes.
05:41You know, we have good bowlers.
05:42So our task just got more onerous.
05:45But, Mark, since last Monday when we left here,
05:51just before I went on air,
05:52I received a call from the Barraport District
05:54where the sergeant, they called for assistance
05:58in the recovery of our body.
06:00And the team went out there.
06:02I joined them after the program
06:04and they were called to recover the body
06:06of Zelia Emerson-Gonzalez.
06:09But I want to explain what happened.
06:11Right.
06:12They got a contract.
06:13A few Venezuelan nationals got a contract
06:17to clean grass out of the pond.
06:21Right.
06:21And if Jackie could just push it back a little bit,
06:23I want to show the oil container.
06:26Now, their safety devices really
06:28to attach themselves to that yellow keg there.
06:32Right.
06:32And use a rope around their waist
06:34and leave the rope on the bank.
06:37Right.
06:37So that is their way of staying safe.
06:42Now, the gentleman,
06:43someone noticed that they were not seeing him.
06:46And someone on the bank grabbed the rope
06:49and realized there wasn't any weight to it.
06:52And it seems as if in cutting the grass beneath the water,
06:56he probably loosed the rope around his waist
06:59in order for him to go further.
07:02And so it's really an unfortunate way to lose your life.
07:06And I would tell you of the expertise on the team, right?
07:09So it's a special piece of equipment we have.
07:11We no longer have to go into ponds.
07:13Right.
07:14And Kesh Raj Suknanan, on the first throw,
07:17using that specialized piece of equipment,
07:20he was able to grab hold of his jersey
07:23and take his time and pull it out of the water.
07:26So fire services were there.
07:29They weren't able to help.
07:30We understand the Coast Guard had told them in the morning.
07:32But on the first throw, we were able to get him out.
07:35And that speaks to the skills and the pieces of equipment we've created
07:41to, you know, to assist persons in this situation.
07:45I guess that's the equipment that he's showing there in the video.
07:50And it's really unfortunate, as you say,
07:52to die while trying to make an honest living, of course.
07:55An honest living, yeah.
07:55And then we have Elton Jacob.
08:01Now, he is not in good health.
08:05Yes.
08:05And he walked out of the home very early in the morning,
08:09unknowing to his wife.
08:11And this is in the Bronte-Bordnav area in Princess Town.
08:16And we were there with the Barapur police again,
08:22searching for this gentleman.
08:24And up to now, he has not been found.
08:26Right.
08:26This is an area.
08:27Yeah.
08:28We're waiting on some CCTV footage to see if it could assist us.
08:33It's a huge, it's a large area.
08:35And on that day, we searched pretty much the vast majority of the area.
08:42But we have to get CCTV footage.
08:45We may go down there tomorrow to resume the search.
08:48I'm not sure.
08:49And this is in the Barapur area?
08:50This is in the Barapur.
08:51Obviously, I know anybody with information,
08:53you would ask them to contact you.
08:54Go ahead, guys.
08:55Yeah.
08:55At 799-1453.
08:571-4-5-3.
08:58With any information.
08:59Barapur, the Bronte-Bordnav area.
09:02If you have CCTV footage where, you know,
09:05you could check very early on Monday, last Monday morning,
09:10probably around from,
09:11you could check from 5 a.m.
09:13probably to about midday.
09:15Yeah.
09:15Check your footage and see if you see this gentleman walking on the road.
09:19And then we have Rishma Puran.
09:22Now, Rishma has been missing since Saturday evening around 6 p.m.
09:29Now, we did launch a search for her right away because she's age 41.
09:35And she falls into that vulnerable group we keep talking about.
09:40And when we leave here, after the program,
09:44we are going to join our colleagues, our teammates in Endeavor Chaguanas.
09:49If you live along the Endeavor Main Road in Chaguanas
09:53and you have information on Rishma Puran,
09:58please contact us at 799-1453.
10:02So those were the major searches we had on.
10:05Quite a lot of work we did over the past week.
10:08All right.
10:09So we're going to take a quick look now at our headlines.
10:11So those were some of the headlines over the last,
10:4124 hours.
10:43And certainly one of the biggest stories over the last 48 hours
10:47is that triple murder in Belmont, Gonzales area,
10:51that left three persons, of course, killed.
10:55And we have some footage here of the incident that took place on July 13th.
11:01And you will see a number of the victims standing there on the pavement.
11:05And at one time, you will see a child was actually standing near the area there.
11:15Yeah, he's wearing the long sleeves, I think.
11:17Is that the child that's walking there?
11:19No, I think I saw somebody who looked a little shorter than that.
11:24Maybe I'm wrong.
11:25Oh, there is the child.
11:27Yes.
11:28So the child comes into the picture here,
11:30greeted, of course, by some of the adults there.
11:34So we have five adults there and one child.
11:36And thank, well, I mean, in terms of the child left a short while after,
11:43you're seeing the child there leaving, running away,
11:45going in the opposite direction.
11:48And then momentarily, we see this black tinted vehicle pull up
11:52and several gunmen emerge.
11:55People are fleeing.
12:02Heavy gunfire, of course.
12:05And these two armed men, you know, look at the people's camper.
12:09You have three to the left.
12:11One, even the cat takes bits of history to retreat into the grasses
12:16while the two other men run downhill.
12:19And, of course, I believe those three men that fled to your left on the screen
12:26and they would have later been found with several gunshot wounds
12:32and they would have been pronounced dead.
12:34And it's indicative, of course, of this area over the last year to two years
12:39where gang violence is wearing its ugly head over and over again.
12:46I believe we had a triple in that area last, a couple of months ago.
12:50Two persons were shot and killed and one was severely injured.
12:54So the police obviously have to pay special attention
12:58in this Port of Spain area and environments where there's that fight for turf.
13:04Yeah, and I recall in 2024 there was a series of killings in the Belmont district.
13:10Yes.
13:11And that was due to gang violence.
13:13I think since 2025 we've not had that type of killing around the Belmont district.
13:19In fact, Belmont had more or less gone quiet.
13:23So they have to pay attention to it.
13:25I read on my way up that the commission of police is saying this wasn't totally expected.
13:32They expected, you know, the gang activity to resurface and death
13:38and an increase in crime following the state of emergency.
13:43Not unreasonable, but still I know the police know how to, you know,
13:50calm down on these gangs and make sure that they obey the laws
13:54and stop the senseless killings, which it is.
13:57Yeah, and I think the Minister of Homeland Security, the Honorable Roger Alexander,
14:02said on the morning edition this morning that they were working on a plan
14:06and, of course, he didn't expect everything to happen overnight.
14:10He's asking the public to be patient as they get ready to roll out that plan pretty soon, of course.
14:16And, you know, as you said, one murder is too many.
14:20Too many.
14:20And people want to see some kind of results.
14:23So I hope that, you know, in the coming weeks rather than months,
14:28we would see some recourse, some pushback by the police
14:31and their mission to arrest this gang problem.
14:36Yeah, because if you look at the video, it could have easily been six murdered.
14:42The headline today could have been six murdered in the Belmont district
14:47because they came to kill.
14:49And we saw the little child.
14:52They have no regard.
14:53It is not the first time a child got caught up in this type of gang violence.
14:58And so they have to respond.
15:00And I think we know for a fact the police knows how to respond
15:04to ensure that, you know, you keep the area quiet
15:07and you suppress the gang activity.
15:09Now, of equal concern, of course, was the kidnapping of Sati Karim from Habasi Street
15:18home in Valsin last night, just before 10 o'clock.
15:23A vehicle with another relative and her son was intercepted by armed occupants.
15:30They ordered the male relative out of the vehicle.
15:33They robbed them of a quantity of cash and his valuables.
15:36And his phone as well.
15:37And they then drove off with Ms. Karim in the vehicle.
15:44And we understand that the other vehicle also fled.
15:47And this vehicle was actually found a couple hours later in the Sunset Drive,
15:51Aruka area.
15:53There's still no sign of Ms. Karim.
15:55And we're asking anybody with information on spotting Ms. Karim
16:00or anybody that might be closely affiliated or seen with her
16:03to contact 999, of course, Crime Stoppers, 800 tips,
16:08or the nearest police station if you find or you happen to spot this lady
16:13in the company of persons that obviously, I guess, would be looking a little bit suspect.
16:20Yeah, and people out there, we ask you to just jog your memory a little bit.
16:26And if you believe you saw suspicious persons in your area or persons in your area who were doing unusual things
16:35and, you know, looking at vehicles coming in late or leaving early in the morning,
16:41you know, just report it to the police
16:43because the police would be depending on information.
16:48Mark, very early this morning, I opened the lines of communication
16:51with the specialized unit and the TTPS to ensure that if we do have information,
16:59that that information goes directly to them.
17:03And so if you have information, you don't want to call the police,
17:06you could call us and we will make sure that they get the information,
17:09whether it's credible or not.
17:11So all of us could assist in returning Ms. Katty Karim safely home.
17:17And I think that's the objective.
17:19Yes, and we just want to, you know, wish her a safe return to her family.
17:25And of course, as I said, if you have any information, please reach out to the police.
17:28We're going to take a short break and we'll be back.
17:30Stay with us.
17:43If you could see what the future holds,
17:46you'd see that while things change, you've still got it.

20:23I am on board in the TTPS fight against crime.
20:27We are all on board.
20:28Welcome back to be on the TTPS.
20:43I'm your host, Mark Bassan,
20:45joined today by Valence Rambrath of the Hunters Search and Rescue Team.
20:48It's the middle of the month, of course,
20:50and we have an update on missing persons for the month of July.
20:53Yes, Mark, and today is the 14th of July,
20:56and we have an unusually high number of persons
20:59who are reported missing for the month of July.
21:02We have 24 reports of missing persons for July 2025 thus far.
21:09Now, we have 13 outstanding,
21:12because on my way up, we were able to account for one person.
21:16All right, so we still have Christina Keto.
21:18We continue to work on this issue of her returning to,
21:25you know, to the authority, to the children's authority.
21:29We have not been successful.
21:31We have been in contact with her.
21:33It's just to get her in her position to return
21:35under the jurisdiction of the children's authority.
21:40And then we have Ashok Banwari,
21:42and we have no, absolutely no lead on Ashok Banwari.
21:47What we do know is he sold a car prior to the 3rd of July,
21:52and he had the money of him,
21:54and on his way to Port of Spain to work on the morning of the 3rd,
21:59both him and his money vanished completely.
22:02It was just a neighbor who saw him enter a taxi.
22:07We have not heard from Ashok Banwari thus far.
22:10So if you have information, call 799-1453 or the nearest police station.
22:16And then we have Nicholas Street.
22:18We still have no information on Nicholas Street,
22:23age 44, from the Morvan District.
22:25And again, if you know of his whereabouts, please contact us.
22:29And then Gaspar William Hendry.
22:35Now, he has been missing from Gopal Avenue in Arima.
22:39We continue to work with his relatives,
22:41and hopefully we could, you know, bring this to our clothes by this week.
22:46It's an ongoing situation,
22:48and we really want to have Gaspar return home.
22:52And then we have Chevron James.
22:58We are in contact with his family.
23:04He's a repeat teenager who has gone missing previously,
23:08and we continue to work with his parents to get him back home.
23:15But he went missing from one of the children's home, right?
23:23So we have to work carefully with the authorities to try and get Isaiah to return.
23:30And then we have Chevron James, 37.
23:36Now, this one is occupying our attention.
23:39We're in contact with the family.
23:41We're in contact with the police on this one.
23:43I don't want to raise a red flag on Chevron as yet.
23:47Hopefully, we believe she's safely out there.
23:50But we're working in a particular direction to try and see how best we could, you know, locate her safely.
23:57Asking people from Point 14,
23:58If you have any information on Chevron, please call us at 799-1453, urgently.
24:08And then we have Mahindra Daniel.
24:10This is the second time he has gone missing.
24:13He's well known to us.
24:15And he has, again, a situation with the children's authority.
24:19Some of them don't like to go before the courts or pay for the hearing.
24:24And they have curfews imposed upon them by the court.
24:29And they find these curfews are too onerous.
24:32So I'm appealing to Mahindra to please contact us or, you know, go to a guardian to ensure that you are safe.
24:41And then we have Elton Chico.
24:44Well, I dealt with him in the open.
24:46He's sickly.
24:47He hobbled out of his home at about 4 a.m. in the morning while his wife was asleep.
24:53And we found that a long time has passed.
24:57Mark, to be missing on the 6th, and today is the 14th.
25:01So we have risen a red flag on this.
25:04We're working closely with the police in the Barakpur district, as well as relatives, friends, neighbors,
25:10you know, to try to cover as much area as we could.
25:13So we may be rejoining them.
25:15We may be joining them again tomorrow.
25:18That's left to be seen.
25:20And then we have Dillian Nutt.
25:24She's new to us.
25:26She was last seen in the Moruga district.
25:29And if the people down there sees her, you could call 996, or the police at 999, or get us at 799-1453.
25:41We want to know that she is safe and she returns to the jurisdiction of the Children's Authority.
25:48And I dealt with Rishma Pouran.
25:51Oh, we have Candice Honore.
25:54Yes.
25:55And our team in Northeast is working.
25:57They know her well and they're working diligently to try to locate her.
26:04No issues of harm coming to Candice Honore.
26:08All that we know is that she's out there and she needs to return home.
26:13And then Rishma Pouran, I dealt with her in the opening.
26:17We are very much concerned.
26:19And this is the case that we are currently occupied with.
26:22And we are going there after this program again to join the search there in Endeavor Shabonis.
26:28But we have lots of people living in Endeavor Shabonis.
26:32And Rishma is well known to everybody.
26:35So if you saw Rishma between Saturday evening from about 6 p.m. Sunday, please contact us at 799-1453.
26:46We did receive some reports of sighting mark.
26:50Today we dealt with it, but she still has not been found.
26:53And then we have Jules, who is still missing.
26:57His mental health is compromised.
27:00And he was last seen in the Shagornis district.
27:05So our central team is working on trying to locate Jules Caesar.
27:10And then we have Amira Williams, where she was located.
27:14She spoke with me on the way up.
27:17So she's fined and she did contact her relatives.
27:21And then we have, of course, Sati Karim.
27:25We did deal with this person who was adopted last night.
27:31And we're asking members of the public to be vigilant, especially east of, I would say east of Arruka, where the vehicle was found.
27:41Please be vigilant and report anything to the police with respect to your observation.
27:48We need Trinidad and Tobago support to find Sati Karim safely.
27:53And so, Mark, those are the 13 who are still outstanding.
27:58I know we just wanted to kind of refresh people's minds about Winston Ross that went missing last October.
28:06Right.
28:06So Winston Ross went missing October 2024.
28:12And on the 28th of January 2025, the police was able to find some remains in the DBA St. James area.
28:21At that time, they did locate one of his work ID cards in his pocket.
28:28And so the family had to wait on DNA testing.
28:31And they received the DNA testing, I believe, on the 3rd of July.
28:36And they were able to cremate his remains on Saturday.
28:40So closure achieved for that family.
28:42I mean, we're happy when closure is achieved.
28:46It's really the less, the least of the agony you could go through, rather than not finding your loved one.
28:55So he was found and he was cremated, I understand.
28:59There was a huge turnout down there in Point 14 on Saturday for his funeral.
29:03Well, we certainly hope that in the same state that he was celebrated,
29:07that the person's responsible for that act will also be brought to justice in the shortest possible time.
29:14All right, we're going to take a short break and we'll be back with your calls.

32:27Welcome back to Beyond the Tape. I'm your host, Mark Bassan, joined today by Carence Rambarat of the Hunter State Chinese ski team.
32:37I don't know, every time I think about your brother sometimes, I call his name instead of yours.
32:42Again, I apologize for that.
32:45Alright, we're going to quickly head to our feature, Voice of the People in San Juan. Let's go.
32:51Hello, wannabe!
33:04So what's your impression about this whole school violence issue and the bullying in the schools?
33:23I really don't like it, but it all begins with the parents at home, the children, teaching, learning the children about growing up manly.
33:35And I find this bullying thing, they should, it's got out of hand now.
33:41So they station some officers, some jeeps, some police jeeps or something by the school.
33:47Every day at the, in between the school hours time, so you get to learn as they go into the school.
33:53And, you understand? We have, we have like a, how do you call it, surveillance all day.
33:59Right.
34:00You know, until school, start to finish.
34:03But we have enough officers to do that every school?
34:06Yeah, so I feel it, if there are enough officers, they can have like, armed security guards, assistance with the police, you know what I'm saying?
34:14To train security guards to take care of these, you know what I'm saying? To do something, to do, to be, because these, I don't know, but they're evil things going on now, with that evilness.
34:26Should we blame the parents, the behavior of some of these students who got involved in these, in these fights?
34:32If we should blame them?
34:33Well, I don't like to blame people, but I feel it has, it has, it has, parents now, they, I feel they're encouraging that.
34:46I ain't blaming nobody, but the upper-wide receipt, yeah.
34:51What do you think we can do to reduce crime in Trinidad and today, right?
34:56I feel, I feel the same thing, the surveillance, right, surveillance, and I don't know what to do again, because there's everybody involved in crime, as people see, from the highest to the, you know what I'm saying?
35:12Yeah.
35:12The heads and whatever, so I really can't say, the only thing is the government, the officers, the police, the army, get together and patrol, the police alone maybe can't do it, you know what I'm saying?
35:26You know what I'm saying?
35:27You're the army involved.
35:28I've had, like, notice I've had before, army and the police, patrol areas, communities, you know what I'm saying?
35:36I feel so.
35:37What do you do to ensure the safety of yourself and your family?
35:40What do you do different now that you know crime is an issue?
35:43Well, I have a little business in the market.
35:45I just come work, when I go home, I keep my driving, I take different routes, watch one in any way to home,
35:55my driving, you know, you always keep paddling.
35:58Yeah.
35:59I see a vehicle, I find a unit, I make a block, make a spin somewhere else, come back until that vehicle,
36:05so I realize, you know, it went somewhere else, it wasn't on me.
36:08Yeah.
36:09Plenty of other things I didn't do.
36:10I don't go one direction every day.
36:12Right.
36:13When I leave the market.
36:14That's all.
36:15I change up my routine.
36:17Voice of the people, Mr. Rambrat.
36:24Well, the gentleman, you start asking questions about bullying, and I think a lot of resources have been thrown at students and schools to resolve the issue of behavior.
36:39And you have deans in schools, you have the student support services system, you have things like expulsions and suspensions,
36:53and over the years we've not seen these things work.
36:56But I think when the message was sent that these children could be charged for their violent behavior in schools, I think that was what was needed.
37:07And I'm honest about that.
37:09You need to set a tone, and that tone must permeate the country, permeate the homes, and so when students go to school, they know that if they engage in violent behavior, they could be charged.
37:25And I think, to me, that was a step in the right direction.
37:30And then, you know, you spoke to him, and he says everybody isn't involved in crime, and really and truly.
37:39Well, I don't agree with that.
37:41I think the vast majority of the citizens of this country are law-abiding citizens, and they mean well, and they are well-intentioned.
37:49But you have those who continue to probably, because of a lack of a proper education, have no other choice sometimes to go out there, but the opportunity was provided for a proper education and for you to get a proper job.
38:05And because that wasn't taking advantage of, you know, how to look for other means of survival and income.
38:12But it's not everybody that is involved in crime, it's not everybody in Trinidad and Tobago that has given up an almost perfect moral and value system that we have in this country.
38:24And so, but I would say that the Caribbean way of parenting, we need to struggle to keep that together, and that's our anchor as a country as we deal with this issue of crime and violence.
38:40And then he spoke about, you know, again, quite rightly about taking action.
38:47Well, what do you do to prevent yourself from being a victim of crime?
38:51And he gave some good advice, you know, watch out, be alert at all times, you know, change your route, be observant, do things differently, and don't fall into a routine.
39:03Because when you fall into a routine, there are people observing you, and they're looking for that routine to intercept you and to, you know, rub you and carry out a criminal activity.
39:14All right, we're going to pay some bills, and when we come back, we'll have more. Stay with us.

42:41Welcome back to Beyond the Tape
42:46I'm your host Mark Bussan
42:47Joined today by Valence Rambrath
42:48of the Hunter's Search and Rescue team
42:50And you know, Mr Rambrath
42:53I think we need to get some body or bodies
42:55to sponsor our road safety segment
42:58Yeah, I think so
42:59We are seeing so much vehicular accidents
43:03on the nation's roadways
43:04We have a couple to share with our viewers
43:09of course, and it's important that
43:11you know, we continuously tell people
43:13especially on the weekends
43:15to try to be safe on the roadways
43:17Of course, there's always this unguarded moment
43:20somebody driving
43:21KLS, I was, I had in East Arm
43:24I think in the El Sikoro area
43:26there was a three-car smash-up
43:27Right, I saw that one
43:28You saw that one, right?
43:30With an SUV and two vehicles
43:32It caused a little traffic prior to
43:33you know, by the courts area
43:36there will be four
43:36And then when we got there
43:38you saw the police on the scene
43:39And speaking of course, of police
43:42our first video
43:43is in the Barataria area here
43:46a police vehicle
43:48on its side
43:50Of course, there's a person
43:52from the defense force
43:54there sitting behind the vehicle
43:55I don't know if he was part
43:56of a joint patrol
43:57but clearly
43:59you know, something might have happened
44:02you know, they would have
44:03probably been coming along a corner
44:05trying to avoid
44:06hitting a vehicle
44:08a number of factors of course
44:10but we're hopeful that
44:11none of the officers
44:12were hit badly
44:13in that accident
44:14Yeah, and that's in the Morva district
44:16and within the Morva district
44:19the type of road you're seeing there
44:21the steep corners
44:22the narrow streets
44:24that is typical of the Morva
44:26some parts of the Morva district
44:28and you know, you could have
44:30things like mechanical failure
44:31and your braking system
44:32because, you know
44:33it's difficult to navigate
44:35a vehicle in that area
44:37because you have vehicles
44:38parked on the side of the road
44:40and stuff
44:40Yeah
44:41But I hope they came out safely
44:42and if they
44:44that
44:45they have a speedy recovery
44:47And you know
44:49we always talk about
44:50that dangerous Valencia stretch
44:53heading to Sanguigandi
44:54and over the weekend
44:56there was a road traffic accident
44:58in that area as well
44:59You know
45:01some persons were hurt
45:02obviously
45:04the passers-bys
45:06who stopped passers-bys
45:09that stopped
45:10and rendered that assistance
45:12to
45:12this vehicle looks
45:13pretty mangled
45:15Yes
45:15If you ask me
45:16Yeah
45:16And
45:18it seems that persons
45:20were injured
45:21in this accident
45:22Yeah
45:24And Mark the Valencia stretch
45:25is really an area of concern
45:27when I am using that
45:28and most of the time
45:29I am driven out
45:30I
45:31I don't
45:32don't look into my phone
45:33when I'm in the
45:34or look elsewhere
45:35I pay attention to the road
45:37because at any minute
45:38you could expect
45:39something to happen
45:40Yes
45:41And
45:41you know
45:42that Valencia stretch
45:44is an area of concern
45:46for speeding vehicles
45:48Of course it's at times
45:48speeding and overtaking
45:50unnecessarily
45:51Yeah
45:51and on blind
45:53on those blind hills
45:54right
45:55you are approaching
45:56the hills
45:57and you're expecting
45:58a vehicle to come
45:59on your side
46:00and that
46:02that has been going on
46:03for a long time
46:04so I think
46:04you know Mark
46:05we cannot give up
46:07on you know
46:07talking about road safety
46:09Yes
46:10and asking drivers
46:11and road users
46:12to practice
46:13practice safe
46:14driving techniques
46:16at all times
46:17not only to protect yourself
46:19but to protect others
46:20Yes
46:21and on the west
46:22of Trinidad
46:23along the Dago Martin Highway
46:25there was also another
46:26accident here
46:28involving at least
46:29two vehicles
46:30just as the first
46:31the second
46:31there between
46:32the lanes there
46:34overturned
46:35and it would appear
46:36that you know
46:37there were
46:37persons would have been
46:39hurt
46:39during this
46:40this incident
46:41and hopefully
46:42they were taken
46:43to hospital
46:44within a short
46:45period of time
46:45and you know
46:47that it appears
46:48that it's early morning
46:49Yes
46:49and it's mounted
46:52sideways
46:53on this
46:53on this signage
46:55Diamond Valley
46:56area I think
46:57Yeah
46:57and Mark
46:58you would see
46:59we
46:59you know
47:00some years ago
47:01we'd see accidents
47:02like this once in a while
47:03but it's not really
47:04common place
47:05to see vehicles
47:07in all sorts of positions
47:08mangled vehicles
47:10vehicles
47:12because
47:13you know
47:14all about the place
47:15so these vehicles
47:16modern day vehicles
47:17are not meant
47:19to you know
47:19to be driven
47:21that hard
47:22although you may have
47:23the
47:23the vehicle may have
47:24the ability
47:25we ask you to obey
47:27the speed limits
47:29on our nation roads
47:32Yeah
47:32and you see
47:33especially if you don't know
47:35a highway
47:35a Dago Martin Highway
47:37I respect it
47:37because you know
47:38those sharp corners
47:39you have
47:40and so on
47:40and if you don't
47:42peruse that road
47:43regularly
47:44you will not be familiar
47:45with the twists and turns
47:47as much as
47:47those who
47:48traverse it every day
47:50Right
47:50so like me
47:51who wouldn't use it
47:52every day
47:52I would use it
47:53once in a while
47:54to go on a search
47:55or to visit friends
47:56but that's
47:57probably four or five times
47:58for the year
47:59I have to be careful
48:01and I understand
48:02the point you're making
48:03because
48:04so we're asking drivers
48:06you know
48:07please be careful
48:08on the nation's rules
48:10it's important
48:11that we save lives
48:13don't throw away
48:13throw away lives
48:15unnecessarily
48:16yes
48:16we also had an accident
48:18in the Arangues bypass area
48:21I think it was a truck
48:23it was something I saw
48:25occupying that
48:28as you approached
48:30you around about
48:30yes I was right
48:32yes
48:32I remember seeing this
48:33on social media
48:35and it caused
48:36you know
48:37some traffic
48:37there
48:38I think it might have
48:38happened on Saturday
48:39and you know
48:41the truck is overturned
48:42of course
48:42luckily
48:43it didn't seem to have
48:45any flammable liquid
48:45or anything of this sort
48:47seems to have been empty
48:48yeah
48:49so but
48:50even so
48:50it did cause some inconvenience
48:52maybe as you say
48:53sometimes
48:54you're trying to veer
48:55a long vehicle
48:56trying to go around
48:57a particular corner
48:58or something
48:58even if they take it
48:59at a particular speed
49:00tends
49:02at times to topple over
49:03topple over
49:04yeah
49:04and I've made a point
49:05on this program
49:06that I have been looking
49:07at these accidents
49:08and I'm seeing a lot
49:09of trucks and vans
49:10and so we ask
49:12those users
49:13with you know
49:14they hire
49:15much larger
49:18because
49:19to you know
49:20understand
49:21that there are
49:22many users
49:23and even the smaller
49:24cars
49:24please respect them
49:26you know
49:26I have noticed
49:28that I've brought it
49:29up on this program
49:30that a lot of those
49:31vans and trucks
49:32are now in accidents
49:33yeah
49:33alright
49:35we're going to take
49:35a short break

52:11welcome back to the show
52:41To be on the tape, I'm your host, Mark Moussan, joined today by Valence Rambath of the Hunter's Search and Rescue Team.
52:46You know, I have a good idea for our voice of the people.
52:49We're going to ask people about the rest of these.
52:50Yes, we have.
52:52That would be an interesting program.
52:55And because, you know, there are many out there who feel that, you know, after Brian Lara or that great legend departed cricket,
53:05it's been difficult really to first get, you know, top class batsmen out there.
53:11And I noticed, I'm not too sure who mentioned it, but they said that, you know, batsmen who represent the West Indies currently,
53:22they're not exposed to that type of fast bowling by the Aussies.
53:28But what is interesting is that even our fast bowlers, we get the wickets of the Australians.
53:34So, I don't share that view, but I think we need to have all bowlers bowl quickly at our batsmen and get them in shape and get them organized.
53:45But, you know, historically, the whole question of selection, all that comes into play.
53:51But this is the opportunity for the West Indies cricket to step up and get their act together.
53:57In the three test matches, we could have won those three tests.
54:01All right, so, parting words.
54:03I just have one parting word.
54:06I had a friend, Mr. Latchman Babal, he turned 70 on Saturday, and I want to wish him a happy birthday, Mark.
54:15He is my hunting partner.
54:17We hunt together.
54:19He's 70, and if you, that's a current pity of him.
54:23That's good, Mark.
54:24And we are preparing to head into the forest come October, again, to continue our hunting expeditions.
54:32He's a personal friend of mine's, and we have a long-standing relationship.
54:39And also, as I close quickly, if the government is formulating a plan on crime, for crime,
54:47I would like to make one suggestion quickly, and that is CCTV footage.
54:52We've got to get our camera act together, because we're currently looking for missing persons,
54:59and we need the assistance, CCTV assistance, to find them.
55:05Even in Satie's case, Karim's case, I know the officers would be looking at CCTV footage.
55:13So, that would be our recommendation from Hunter's Search and Rescue Team,
55:17that one recommendation, let's get our camera system going in Trinidad and Tobago,
55:22so we could have proper surveillance to assist law enforcement to, you know, get their work done.
55:29Yes, and as we go, obviously, we would like to just put the photo back up of Satie Karim there,
55:36if my producer, okay, I might be able to get to the photo.
55:41But, obviously, if you have any information, we are asking you to contact the nearest police station,
55:47or 800-TIPS, or 999, with any information.
55:51Again, Ms. Karim was kidnapped on this last night, sorry, near home.
55:57The vehicle intercepted, and armed occupants took out of the vehicle,
56:02or rather, took out, asked that the two relatives leave the vehicle,
56:05and they drove up with the vehicle, with her in it,
56:09and then, of course, that vehicle was found a short distance later,
56:12but no sign of Ms. Karim.
56:15So, we are asking for anybody with information,
56:17and, of course, the Hunter's Search and Rescue Team will also be,
56:20that's Ms. Karim there, will also be looking into this matter as well,
56:25with the assistance of the police.
56:27Yeah, quick words?
56:28Yeah, yeah, yeah.
56:28We will, we will, we continue, and we're looking forward to, you know,
56:32assist the police to get Ms. Karim home.
56:34Please, we want, she has a son, her husband was left,
56:40both the son and her husband were left out of the vehicle,
56:45but we will need to find her and get her back home safely.
56:48All right, and I'm asking, anybody, please,
56:50just release Ms. Karim and send her back home safely to our relatives.
56:54We run tonight at 11 o'clock, repeat tomorrow at 11.30.
56:59The TV6 News is up next, and we'll see you back here tomorrow at 6.
