00:00Previously on Project Runway All-Stars, we want you to create an avant-garde look.
00:06Could judges have seen this from you? Really? I think her look would be a bit
00:11more elevated if she used actual fabric. Bondage gear is something we've seen
00:15that's not brand new. The wheel's been done. I'm merely adding a spoke. Okay.
00:20Almost like being like an M.C. Escher painting. It is divine. I love the size of this bow you have.
00:32Everything about it just reeks of fashion. Thank you. The winning designer is Stanley.
00:39There's something very displeasing about it. Can you talk me through what the thought
00:46behind all of that was? That's it, baby. That's what you're gonna get today. I feel
00:51like you're a little defensive. Let's move on. Fantastic. It seemed like a lot of
00:55things just shaken and thrown onto a model. Zero ideas. Okay. The designer
01:00eliminated tonight is Kimberly. This is Project Runway All-Stars.
01:11Jewish Museum. Yes, sir. It's gonna be fun. Oh, wow. Oh, hello. Hi. Right. I noticed a big
01:28Isaac. Well, so I kind of have an idea of what we're doing this week. Well, at least it has
01:32to do with Isaac. Today, I've invited you to the Jewish Museum to celebrate a cultural icon.
01:39We know him as a fashion designer, but he's also a performer, an artist, and an entrepreneur.
01:46But you know him best as a judge. Yes. It is, of course, the one and only Isaac Mizrahi.
01:55How are you kids? Great to see you. Welcome to my world. Wow. The Jewish Museum is celebrating
02:04Isaac's career with an exhibition called Isaac Mizrahi, an unruly history. Tell me what that's
02:10all about. Well, I guess because my career has taken so many unexpected turns. It's so cool that
02:16Isaac is being honored with this exhibition. He has broke so many boundaries, and I think he want us
02:21as designers to have that same influence. One of the things that Isaac is known for is his creative
02:26use of color. You can see it all over the exhibition and in my dress. I'm going to assign
02:32you a challenge to work in color this week. Okay. I have these wonderful little cards that I've
02:38prepared of color palettes. The first one I'm going to give this to is Ken, but I'm going to challenge
02:42you to bring me a red that you haven't done. Okay. Something about green made me think of Fabio.
02:49I don't know why. Ooh. Earthy. Okay. I'm from Brazil. Our flag is green. Nobody designs a queen
02:57in my country unless you're going to Carnival. The sky's the limit. Thank you Isaac. The grass is the
03:01limit. The grass. Exactly. The past couple of weeks I've been noticing a whole kind of Audrey Hepburn
03:07thing with Stanley going on. So I thought of pink. So that's for you Stanley. Perfect. There's a purity to
03:13this idea of blue. When you see light reflected off of buildings and things and blue print. And so I
03:18thought of it for Mellie. Yeah. That's for you. Okay. Good. Now here's something with Helen. I don't
03:24know why but you make me think of purple. How does that sound? Amazing. Okay. Thank you so much.
03:29It was a free association. I just went like Edmund equal sign orange. I think it could be a really fun
03:36exploration. So there you go. Thank you. It takes a good designer to really kind of give us yellow.
03:43So it's an opportunity for somebody. And I think it's Anthony's opportunity. Sunshine yellow. And then
03:52last but not least is Joshua. I thought of teal because I thought that's a really kind of deeply
03:57beautiful color. And it can also be awful. There's a very delicate line to walk. And I think you're
04:03really good at walking a delicate line. That's for you Joshua. Thank you dear. So designers each one of
04:08you has a dominant color to work with. You must choose a complementary color to add to the color
04:16Isaac just gave you. Since every day with Isaac is a party, you're designing party looks for spring.
04:25Isaac's inviting you to a private viewing of this beautiful exhibition so you can see how he uses color
04:30in his own work. Then it's off to mood with a $150 budget for your colored fabrics. And you have a prize
04:37for the winner, huh? That's right. I do, which I will reveal at the runway. We will be judging your
04:41party looks for spring on the runway tomorrow. So let's see what you can do when black and white is off
04:48the table. Wow. And now I really want you to see the exhibit. Come on. All right. I'm glad that I'm in
04:55this exhibition having a private tour by Isaac. He's done everything. He's worked with everyone. And on top of that,
05:00he's always pushed the envelope. That's gorgeous. Wow. Isaac Mizrahi is absolutely a legend. I've known
05:07about him since I was a little boy. And he continues to reinvent himself. And seeing all of his work from
05:13the past, he was definitely way before his time. Why do you love color so much? Because it's essential to
05:20the earth and to our surroundings. And I think people crave it without knowing it, you know? This is a huge
05:25challenge, I know, for me personally, because I dream in color very vivid, but I'm afraid of it with
05:30when working. Yeah. I think most of the designers, including myself, typically work in black and white.
05:36That's the default. That's their safety zone. No one's watching, right? I know. I'm saying, like...
05:42You put on this. I'll put on this. Let's go. Coming off of last week, following my rant on the runway,
05:48it's really interesting to be standing with Isaac. This is what you get today. So you either want to see
05:53more or we can, you know... Okay, then let's move on. Fantastic.
05:59Look, I know I get very feisty and defensive of my work. Like, how do you, for all of these years,
06:06stomach something that's said in a weird way? And how can you go about it? Sometimes you think
06:11you've done the worst work of your life. And then someone says, like, wow, that is so good. And you go,
06:15like, really? And then other times you think you've done this amazing thing. And people go, yeah,
06:19that's right. Trust that all of that is coming from the right place, you know? It's not every
06:25day you get to be in the presence of a true genius. I mean, I want to grow as a designer,
06:30but more so I want to grow as a person that can take critique. Just let it go. Let it go.
06:37All right. Bye. Bye. Thank you, Isaac. Thank you. I should realize if he's judging me,
06:42it's because he cares and he wants me to succeed. You know, I think it just touched me in a way that I
06:49wasn't expecting, to be honest. I sit in the area where Isaac's previous sketches are displayed on
06:58the wall just to kind of absorb some of that energy. I want it to be sexy and contour the woman's body,
07:04but also I want to bring something design-wise that I haven't to the table. So my design is this
07:10disjointed jumpsuit. I'm creating a strapless bodice. There's kind of like a playfulness about it.
07:16I've never worked with purple before, so I'm not entirely sure what complementary color I'm going
07:21with. I love the idea of this challenge today because it's pushing me out of my comfort zone.
07:26I really want the pink to pop and the top is off the shoulder with asymmetrical drape and the bottom's
07:31going to have an exaggerated hip. I just feel really confident about this look. It's time to go to
07:36mood. Let's go. 30 minutes to shop, everybody. Going into mood, I'm looking for a bright, bold,
07:47beautiful yellow. Let me go see if I can find a lavender to go with and then I'm going to come
07:51back and get it for me. I know who would ever put lavender and yellow together. It's going to be
07:55beautiful. I take the swatch of teal I have and just run it across the bolts of fabric until I find
08:04something that intrigues me. What about this color? I think I like these two colors together.
08:10Yellow is going to be that pop-up color. It is a party dress. I don't want it to be too serious
08:14and I'm not really creating a silhouette yet. I'm going to let the shapes kind of like take me there.
08:18Five minutes. Five minutes left.
08:22Sorry, my phone is down. I feel like the reason Isaac gave me purple is because he knows that I have a
08:27certain taste level. The shade of purple that I would choose is a reflection of how I feel as a designer.
08:32This one is amazing. I think that he just correlated me and my work with purple because it's intense.
08:40Okay, everybody, it's time.
08:56Don't know what I'm doing.
08:57I think it's pretty dope, though, that he chose the colors for us.
09:01Yeah.
09:02You can tell a lot of thought went into that process.
09:04The judges have never seen a detail added in my work. They've only seen drama. So this week,
09:10I want to play with corset lacing detail and a choker that's going to come from the back to the neck.
09:16There's going to be something fun for me. Just a little tease of pink here.
09:20I think I'm going to make a gown. I am designing, in my mind, a gown. I'm thinking of placing the
09:27lavender in between some of the seams and just using it as an accent.
09:31It's your personality, the yellow.
09:33Oh, thank you. You know what? All the bad I was wishing on your creation this week,
09:39I'm going to take it all back.
09:40Well, thank you.
09:41Okay. So the most important part of this garment is to kind of execute my shape with this fabric.
09:49I'm ironing. I'm creasing. I'm making sure that it's executed right.
09:55You know when you stare at something for so long?
09:56Mm-hmm. She's already doing shapes, and I distinctly remember the judges saying last week,
10:05don't bring us any more shapes because you've done it before and we're quite familiar with
10:09your process at this point. You can't give us a stress every week.
10:12Oh, yes. We need to know that this idea can broaden out.
10:15Okay. Is that a good fold?
10:18Oh, what are you doing?
10:19This is the whole thing. It'll be, like, different.
10:21Wow. Oh, okay.
10:23Well, it looks lovely.
10:25I'll just ask you about the fold.
10:27Oh. That's what I'm asking about.
10:28Oh, you're the only one. Oh, okay. Well, the folds do look crisp.
10:32In my mind, the shapes shouldn't be there in the first place, but, you know,
10:35she wanted to know if they were precise and crisp, and yes, they are. And wrong.
10:44Didn't they just tear her ass on the road when they have to do shit?
10:46I ain't saying .
10:48Because you know what I done figured about Merlene?
10:49Huh. She gonna do what she want to do.
10:51She gonna do what she won't do.
10:52She can make her shape, though.
10:53Crispest shape I ever seen. It's just as crisp as the other times you did.
10:58What did you say?
10:59Oh, I didn't say nothing to you, Merlene.
11:01I'm, like, watching Anthony.
11:02Because I feel like he's, like, smack-talking.
11:05It's just not cool.
11:06I keep my eye on you.
11:07Sayonara.
11:11Coming up on Project Runway All-Stars.
11:14You had me until we got to the tiara.
11:15Oh, you don't like her?
11:16I'm dead.
11:17I don't know what's up with Ken.
11:19Our child is getting moody.
11:21Edmund's gowns look like a teddy.
11:23Let's take this to the bedroom.
11:31You all right, Merlene?
11:42I can tell sometimes of how the other designers roll their eyes and stuff like that,
11:46because I'm so, like, so intense.
11:48And they're like, she's a 26th waist.
11:55She's a 26th waist.
12:01I have Merlene, who is my next-door neighbor.
12:05She has absolutely no consideration for other people's personal space.
12:11Hi, designers.
12:12Hi.
12:13Hi.
12:14You all have come to know Isaac Mizrahi primarily as a judge.
12:17This morning's trip to his exhibit was a reminder of what an amazing career Isaac Mizrahi has had.
12:23I hope you were inspired by the trip, and I really hope you were inspired by the colors he chose for you.
12:27And I'm interested to see how you're going to work those interior designs today.
12:31Hi, Helen.
12:32Hi.
12:32I love this purple color.
12:34Okay, good.
12:35Where are you going to put this pop of blue?
12:36I mean, I haven't got that far yet.
12:38I don't want it to be overwhelming.
12:40I know that the majority of the look...
12:40It's not overwhelming so far.
12:41You might want to think about it being a little more overwhelming.
12:43Okay, I will.
12:44Good luck.
12:45The color that Isaac chose for me is this orange.
12:48This is the complementary color that I chose, this berry effect.
12:51It's a really great combination.
12:52I love the way the colors work together.
12:54Can I see the sketch and what you're thinking for length and silhouette here?
12:57Oh, length, I'm actually, my model has beautiful legs.
13:00So I'm hitting it like mid thigh area.
13:02I would suggest when you get on the model,
13:04make sure that it's not just short for the sake of being short.
13:07Thank you, Anne.
13:07Good luck.
13:07All right.
13:09Hey.
13:09Hi, Lily.
13:10Hi.
13:11Do I see a little architectural detail here?
13:13Yeah, see?
13:13So I'm trying to like switch it up, change the different approach.
13:16The way I'm thinking is maybe I can do a hint of yellow inside or yellow outside.
13:21Just kind of, I don't want it to take over.
13:23I'm curious how this is going to be different from last week's.
13:26This is going to be a short architectural dress, somewhat like last week's with different colors.
13:30You know, I usually do 3D.
13:31Mm-hmm.
13:32This feels pretty 3D to me.
13:34Okay.
13:35Anne says, how is this different from my other work?
13:37But I've never seen this from me and so I don't kind of quite get what Anne is saying.
13:44You know, where the chain connects, this kind of continues.
13:49What do you think?
13:50You had me until we got to the tiara.
13:52Oh, you don't like it?
13:53This to me right now looks sort of 1950s.
13:55How is this one going to be fashionable?
13:58I really haven't showed the judges detail.
14:01After looking at the subtle details at the exhibit, I kind of want to add more detail in my design.
14:06Everyone knows your style.
14:08It's very classic, very sleek, very elegant.
14:10But I feel that you haven't ever put all the money on the table.
14:14Well, when you have 10 to 13 hours to put all of the money on the table, sometimes things fall short.
14:20So I'm trying to push myself at the same time, but still work hard enough to where it doesn't throw me under the bus.
14:26Go for it, Ken.
14:27Okay.
14:28What are you working on there?
14:29I am building a hip pad corset thingy.
14:33How did you go with this idea?
14:34Well, my model this week is very thin.
14:37And so I wanted to create volume.
14:40Very clever.
14:41It's a lot of work, but I think I'll be rewarded.
14:43It looks like you've got the aqua for the top and the hot pink for the bottom.
14:47Just make sure the pink remains the dominant color, right?
14:50Good luck.
14:51All right.
14:51Thanks, Jen.
14:54I'm focusing on my silhouette right now, so if you don't see much design, that's okay.
14:58I'm thinking the lavender at the top and doing the bright yellow at the bottom.
15:02All I can say is that it looks elegant, and you might have to make it look a little more than that.
15:06Okay.
15:06And I would think about where she's going.
15:08It might help you.
15:09It's a party.
15:09It's not a red carpet challenge.
15:12I hear Anne giving the worst critique to Anthony today.
15:15I can see, you know, like, he's a little peeved.
15:19Jesus.
15:21Designers, this competition is getting really stiff, but I want you to remember this is supposed to be fun.
15:25Isaac Mizrahi has always had fun with color.
15:28I think the look that's going to win is that one that comes down the runway and captures Isaac's imagination.
15:33So get loose.
15:35Have a party.
15:36Good luck.
15:40How'd it go, Maylene?
15:41Um, I'm trying to figure out.
15:43She said, like, you got to make sure that it doesn't feel heavy.
15:45Trust the judgment.
15:47After Anne, I scratch my idea and I start from kind of, like, scratch.
15:51I kind of wanted to do that.
15:53It's, like, more of, like, fold, fold, fold, fold, and that created a shape.
15:59I've never done that before.
16:00That was, like, a cool technique that I wanted to try or made up or whatever.
16:03I'm staring at it too long.
16:05Maylene doesn't do a whole lot of dress construction.
16:08She's much more of an artist.
16:09I like that direction I'm going, you know what I mean?
16:13I like this.
16:15Because she's incredible at what she does.
16:16But she wants to apply triangles.
16:19And it's just, it just looks like a lot of work for a one-day challenge.
16:22You're almost there.
16:26What the I just did to the iron?
16:28Anthony just messed up the tip of the iron.
16:33However, I'm encouraging everyone to immediately get over it.
16:39Say hey.
16:40Hi, gorgeous girls.
16:41How are you?
16:42Good.
16:45We have to design a party look for spring.
16:48All right, let me get you out of here.
16:50Based on my mentor session with Ann, she mentions Isaac is a stickler for the lint.
16:55So I decided to go with the floor lint.
16:57I think the Edmonds gown looks like a nightgown or a teddy.
17:02Like, I don't see it being like, oh, let's take this to the runway.
17:05No, no, no.
17:06Let's take this to the bedroom.
17:08Oh, my God.
17:10So good on you.
17:11Somehow, by some stroke of fate, I have my bodice and my pant ready to fit on my model.
17:17I just have to mark before they call time.
17:19Yeah.
17:20This went on perfect on you.
17:22All I have to do is just cut out the fabric.
17:24And my goal is to have the bodice and the skirt ready to put together the morning of the runway.
17:31See it?
17:31Yeah.
17:31It's going to be beautiful.
17:33And the shoes, is this yellow or?
17:37I love the intermiss wall this season.
17:41Their pumps are, like, on point.
17:43This fun.
17:44I haven't made that decision yet.
17:47Thanks, hot stuff.
17:48See you tomorrow.
17:49Bye, baby.
17:51Bye-bye, darling.
17:51Bye, ladies.
17:53Got so much more to do.
17:54That's pretty, Josh.
17:57As the night goes later, the colors are changing.
18:00Yeah.
18:01I'm curious, like, what sunlight does, what night does, and then what stage lighting will do.
18:05Stage lighting, especially.
18:08I'm dead.
18:09After Ann's critique, I realized I didn't have time to add the detail into my garment the way I wanted to.
18:17I'm going to play with other elements and probably add volume, but it seems like nothing is working.
18:22Since I took the design out of my dress, I have to put design in my dress.
18:26And I can't send this basic strapless dress down the runway.
18:29It's not going to keep me here.
18:31I know that for a fact.
18:34It's the end of the day, and my top isn't completed.
18:37I think the thing that Ann said that threw me off my game was she made reference to it's not a red carpet.
18:44I don't like that.
18:45So I have no clue what I'm going to do with the top.
18:48I just got to keep letting it speak to me.
18:50Yes.
18:50Not.
18:51Anthony, it's your fabric talking.
18:56Anthony.
18:58Is that Helen?
18:59I mean, I thought it was the fabric talking.
19:04Helen is starting to break out of her shell.
19:06I like it.
19:09We got one more hour left.
19:11Just one more hour.
19:12Being here at Project Run All-Stars, there are a lot of long days and sleepless nights.
19:19At this point in the competition, I'm tired as hell.
19:23And I'm finna sit my ass down and have a piece of chicken because I have a blockage.
19:28And I'm not trying to figure out. I'm just going to rest this last hour in the work room.
19:33He's stealing that chicken.
19:34Yeah.
19:35I don't know what's up with Ken tonight because he's just eating some chicken and if he's falling behind,
19:42it's going to be all on him. So I don't understand that move.
19:45A child is getting moody.
19:47Hey, everybody. It's time to go.
19:49Oh, all right. Let's go.
19:50You ain't got to tell me twice.
19:53My body's shutting down. I'm tired.
19:56Coming up on Project Runway All-Stars.
20:00Marlene looks like a really high-end couture cheerleading outfit.
20:03Good job.
20:04I have a basic bitch dress.
20:07Get your up and just go stitch the dress.
20:11Bloop, bloop.
20:15All right, y'all. Let's go do it.
20:17How you feeling?
20:18I'm feeling.
20:19I wasn't really too concerned with like where I'd be placing my color.
20:22No time for feelings.
20:24But Ann mentioned that I have to wow the judges with my combination.
20:27So now I'm nervous as .
20:32Hi.
20:32Oh, hey.
20:34Slide that on.
20:35So today I have to attach the bodice to the skirt.
20:38And there's a flounce that wraps around the arm.
20:40It's time consuming, but I just feel really confident about this look.
20:43Can you put your own still?
20:45The main thing about my design is proportion.
20:48And my model, Amina's taller, and that changes everything.
20:51Right now in this moment, I have a basic bitch dress.
20:55And to be honest, I don't know where I'm going to add my complementary color.
21:00Ken still hasn't put any bit of his secondary color on his look.
21:04This is easily the most lackluster work I've seen from him ever.
21:08Today's one of those days.
21:10I have nothing ready for my model this morning.
21:14I still have to finish my top.
21:15So it's a really tight two hours.
21:18Josh has nothing today.
21:21That's not a situation that I want to be in.
21:23Hey, everybody.
21:24We got one more hour left.
21:25And this should be fun.
21:26I'm hoping that I can reconcile my top.
21:29It's just not coming together the way I had hoped.
21:32Why is it acting so weird now?
21:36Edmund's look is just, I like the color, but I don't see design.
21:40And that bow in the back, it's an afterthought for sure.
21:44So I love my design.
21:47But as usual, I'm running around from the brother's swim room to the iron to my station.
21:53Good job.
21:54And it's like, why can't I just do a simple skirt and call it a day?
21:57It's okay.
21:58You're almost there.
22:03Welcome to the rodeo glam room.
22:04This is the complimenting color.
22:06Maybe a pop of color or lip closest to this.
22:08Got a cheek called South Beach.
22:10She's enjoying her weekend with her girls.
22:11Her look is fabulous.
22:13So she don't necessarily have to have like a lot of makeup going on.
22:16I'm going to send you to South Beach.
22:21Welcome back to the Umberto Hair Salon.
22:23I just want to like define the curls and give it a little more bounce.
22:26And then all to the right side.
22:28I'm just going to go full on sexy beach waves.
22:31We'll like blow it out for you.
22:33Set it with Umberto regular hair spray.
22:35Make it look nice and soft and beachy.
22:37I'll make it happen for you.
22:38Good luck.
22:39Hey guys, 30 minutes to runway.
22:41I think Joshua could potentially go home this challenge.
22:46The landing strip down, the back of his dress is just not flattering.
22:49Trello.
22:50My least favorite color story is Marlene's.
22:53It looks like high school colors to me.
22:55Okay, one more.
22:56It almost could be like a really high-end couture cheerleading outfit.
23:00How you coming?
23:01Girl, I need a nap.
23:03Ken completely has given up at this point.
23:06This show is over.
23:07I'm tired.
23:08This show is not over.
23:09To the living there is hope.
23:10As long as you have breath in your body, you keep going.
23:13I don't know what's wrong with Ken.
23:15I still don't see a complimentary color in his design.
23:18Just go stitch the dress.
23:21I do notice that Ken is losing his mojo,
23:23but whatever he's going through, he needs to snap out of it.
23:25It's finished.
23:27It's not finished.
23:27As long as it's one color, go stitch the dress.
23:31Ken is better block and I don't know how he's going to like get himself out of this funk.
23:36He better do something or he can go home.
23:39Hey guys, we got 10 minutes left.
23:41We have 10 minutes left, so I need to add my complimentary color so I don't get sent home.
23:57Jesus showed up and worked a miracle.
24:01Hey everyone, it's time to go to the runway.
24:03Let's go.
24:04We came through whatever's for evers.
24:11Coming up on Project Runway All-Stars.
24:13When you are great, you are really great.
24:16But the length it is right now, it looks like a pajama party.
24:18If I were wearing it, it would be easy to go to the bathroom.
24:23Bonus.
24:25The winner of Project Runway All-Stars will receive a fashion spread of Marie Claire and
24:29a position at the magazine as contributing editor.
24:32An inspiring trip for two to fashion capital London, England.
24:36And luxurious skincare and makeup for their debut show and beyond, all provided by Rodial.
24:42From Intermix, accessories and styling services to enhance their next collection.
24:47From Brother Sewing and Embroidery, a complete sewing and crafting studio to launch their line.
24:53And to elevate their business and build their brand, a cash prize of $100,000.
25:03Purple, good choice.
25:07Well, hello, designers.
25:08Hello.
25:08Hello.
25:09This week, you visited the exhibition, Isaac Mizrahi, An Unruly History,
25:15to see how Isaac uses color throughout his incredible career.
25:19This inspired your own use of color as you worked with one dominant and one complementary color
25:25to create spring party looks.
25:28Let's meet tonight's judges.
25:30First, co-founder and designer of luxury brand Marquesa, Georgina Chapman.
25:35Hi, designer.
25:36Hello, Georgina.
25:38Next, one of the most iconic names in American fashion, Isaac Mizrahi.
25:42Hello, acolytes.
25:44Hello, acolytes.
25:46Our guest judge was discovered at the tender age of 13.
25:49Wow.
25:50Two years later, she was on her first cover of Vogue and is still in demand 70 years later.
25:57Wow.
25:58As a model and an actress, she served as a muse for almost every designer and photographer
26:03in fashion, even the artist Salvador Dali.
26:08Please welcome the incomparable Carmen del Orifiche.
26:18Let's get this party started.
26:25It's a great corset if I ever saw one.
26:27I learned from Helen.
26:29It moves so pretty on the runway.
26:31And I absolutely love the complementary color that I chose.
26:37My favorite part about it, though, is the drape.
26:40I'm so happy I listened to my instinct.
26:47It's a spring drape.
26:48That sure is.
26:49It's cute.
26:50It's fun.
26:50It's flirty.
26:51I love the colors.
26:56I could have done better, but I'm happy with this look.
27:01So you showed up.
27:07I get it.
27:08She looks very elegant.
27:10She looks rich.
27:15You give her some help.
27:17Mm-hmm.
27:17There's an ease in elegance about her, which I was trying to portray using those two colors.
27:21She looks sexy.
27:28She's going to party already.
27:29It looks like Versace.
27:31To be absolutely honest, it looks better than I thought it would.
27:34That purple is right on point.
27:39My colors are sophisticated.
27:41I think they look beautiful together.
27:48I know that girl.
27:50She came out to play.
27:52I'm really happy.
27:53The eggplant still reads purple, and my complementary color really pops.
27:57The drape, and the pant leg, and just enough movement that it's balanced.
28:10Damn, that color choice is great.
28:12I love the color.
28:14The orange is moving like liquid.
28:18Damn, everybody came through.
28:19That's dope, because it looks like her skin and the cut-out.
28:34Clever.
28:34My stuff totally looks different from everyone else.
28:42I've always made a dress.
28:43This is the first time I made a two-piece garment.
28:49I nailed a look that I didn't know I had inside me.
29:01It's tall Scarface Miami, right?
29:04It's so simple and chic, yet still very well designed.
29:08If I call your names, please step forward.
29:22Fabio.
29:24Joshua.
29:27Your work has kept you in the competition.
29:32We will see you next week.
29:33I love you girls.
29:35Thank you for the colors.
29:36Designers, one of you is the winner of this week's challenge.
29:41And one of you will be eliminated tonight.
29:48Helen, we're going to start with you.
29:49If there's anyone to admire as an American designer, it would be Isaac, amongst others.
29:55So after we'd visited Isaac's exhibit, it dawned on me that I shouldn't always go for muted tones.
30:00And I've never done a pant before on the show, so I was like, let me just do it.
30:03I did not expect this to come from you, Helen.
30:05It's really playful, and I really appreciate you stepping out of your comfort zone.
30:10But to me, the colors are a little depressing.
30:12I'm very surprised that you went to eggplant for purple, and I'm glad that you brought this
30:17blue to it as well. Can you tell me what drew you to those colors?
30:21I just thought it was a good time to take risks and do something totally new.
30:24It's great. And I also love that it refers to a kind of disco era thing, and yet it has a completely
30:31modern idea to it.
30:33I love the cut off leg. That's a fun surprise.
30:36I love that you took a risk with this. I'm just not sure about this color scheme. And since this
30:42challenge was so much about color, this just fell a little short for me. No worries.
30:47Anthony, you're up.
30:48So first I selected my yellow, and then my lavender. I knew a bright yellow needed to be
30:53grounded with something that would make it a little more sophisticated.
30:56I really like this dress. It made me really happy that someone just made a long one-shoulder dress.
31:02The purple gets a little lost. It's almost looking like sort of gray or something because of the
31:06shine. And then I find some of the lines on her a little wonky.
31:12It's a dress I like very, very much. And you know what I like best?
31:15What?
31:16Is that if I were wearing it, it would be easy to go to the bathroom.
31:19Bonus!
31:23Fashion and function.
31:25I like this one shoulder cross in the back. The one thing that I can't stand is when you
31:30see toes in a long dress. It junks it up a little bit.
31:33Okay.
31:34Anthony, you have this hand about you that has been so light this season. And today,
31:40you know it. It feels tortured. The little cutout you got here was a genius idea. It's
31:45just not quite big enough. And I feel like your slit is too big.
31:48Okay. Let's move on to Ken.
31:51Color is something that I do stray away from. But after seeing the way you did it,
31:55it made me want to do something that was a little playful.
31:59It's perfection from the front. I love the drape and it feels very effortless.
32:03I think this is such a bright, happy red for you. It looks so fresh and wonderful.
32:08I wish the pink was a little darker so that you could actually get pink from it.
32:12The zipper bothers me because the pink in the back doesn't work.
32:16And it's because my eye was taken by the zipper.
32:19Ken, what a flattering silhouette. Like if we're talking about the woman that wears the power suit
32:24during the day, this is what that woman is wearing to a party.
32:27You're finding a softness now, Ken, which I really like in the femininity of your clothes.
32:31It's lovely to see you.
32:32I'm listening.
32:33Well, we appreciate that. Thank you.
32:35Hi, Edmund.
32:36I had an idea initially to do a very structured look, but that's not what the fabric wanted to do.
32:42It wanted to move and dance.
32:43I love these two colors together. It's just hard for me to comment on it because it's such a simple
32:49throwaway dress. For a design competition, it just feels like something's missing.
32:53I definitely agree with it. Being in satin makes it a little bit more difficult to talk about.
32:58I love the back though. The back is amazing, but the length it is right now, it looks like
33:03a pajama party.
33:04I agree very much about it being a sexy nightgown. Your obvious talent is there.
33:10You just have to bring it round to the front a little bit more.
33:14Okay.
33:14I love this dress. I gave it a really high score.
33:16And I thought it was very clever how you used your secondary color.
33:22Stanley.
33:22I love how unapologetic you are with colors. Just like, there it is. And I kind of play with
33:26proportions. I built like a hip harness thing underneath and just a little strapless, asymmetrical
33:31top with it.
33:32I think it's madly interesting. The colors are divine. There's this crazy little facet in her hip.
33:39Can you tell me about that?
33:40Basically, it's like the Dior hip hat, but I made one out of boning and muslin.
33:44I love that it makes the skirt two colors because the way the light is deflected by that facet.
33:50I adore this dress because it reminds me of old couture.
33:54Yeah.
33:55I disagree with Isaac, finally.
33:59The dress doesn't need that construction underneath. I think that waistline without
34:05the construction would have let the fabric follow the contour of the hip naturally.
34:11See, I love this thing that you created underneath. It just gives it really interesting angles.
34:16The silhouette, I think, is terribly interesting. I love the proportion of it.
34:19Your top construction is a great idea, and it's incredibly photogenic.
34:23I do think, though, it feels a little papery in comparison to the skirt.
34:28Marilyn.
34:29When I look out in the world, all the architecture, I think blue.
34:31And so I wanted to pair blue and yellow.
34:34I love blue so much, and you chose a really good blue.
34:38The yellow is not my favorite. It looks mistaken.
34:42I love the back, and I like the yellow and the blue.
34:46I think you have to find your fabrics and what works for what you do, because when you are great,
34:53you are really great. But when it doesn't work for you, it really goes another way.
34:57I would encourage you to do a collection of origami-inspired dresses.
35:05Thank you to all of our designers. We will call you back soon.
35:15Oh, that's a face.
35:17Oh.
35:18That's a top face.
35:19Are you in the top?
35:19Oh.
35:20I'm in the top, yeah.
35:21For every top, there's the bottom.
35:23You're in the bottom?
35:23Yes.
35:24Oh, Kenneth.
35:26They liked it. They liked the color combination.
35:28Oh, my God. They loved it.
35:31I don't know where I pulled this from at the last minute, but I'm so happy I listened to Anthony's advice.
35:36It was a knockout.
35:37I am so tired.
35:38What a treat, Isaac, to be able to see your exhibit, first of all, but then all of that time you shared
35:44with the designers, I think, really made a difference.
35:47I was really pleased with the runway. I thought it was beautiful.
35:50Let's talk about Helen's look.
35:52I like that she did pants, but why do one pant leg? It's a little too quirky even for me.
35:57You liked the one pant, didn't you?
35:59Yeah, yeah, because you don't catch it unless you're looking at the lady from the ankle up,
36:04and you have that surprise.
36:06And it really was well executed. It was a whole thought-through process.
36:09I thought it was slightly odd that she picked, like, an eggplant color.
36:13I know what you mean about that dark side of purple, but Helen has a dark side.
36:20I want to talk about Ken.
36:22Great from the front.
36:23Amazing from the front.
36:25The proportion was wonderful, the balance was wonderful, and it was like,
36:28he didn't think about the back at all.
36:30Yeah, and not merely because of a badly inset zipper.
36:32No, it was the way the drake came out.
36:33The flourish wasn't integral to the back, whereas it really was in the front.
36:38Every week, we can see how we've criticized Ken and his growth from that criticism.
36:46Let's talk about Stanley.
36:47His color is amazing.
36:49Courageous.
36:50Yes, spot on.
36:51I think he's a very smart designer. He's very thoughtful.
36:54He's bringing experience with him to this runway.
36:57It reminded me of old couture, and actually, that dress could go to the floor.
37:02Reminded you of old couture. That's a beautiful compliment.
37:05Okay, now our least successful looks, Anthony.
37:11I think it's flattering. I like that color on that girl.
37:14That acid yellow, it doesn't fly with me.
37:16I think that that gray showed all the flaws, and the hem really upset me.
37:21Me too.
37:22It doesn't need to feel tortured.
37:24No, it doesn't.
37:25It was labored unnecessarily.
37:29I want to talk about Edmund.
37:31There's not much to talk about.
37:33I liked the simplicity of it.
37:34I liked it when she walked.
37:36Of course, the minute she stands still, she looks like she's ready to put her head on the pillow.
37:41Yeah.
37:42It did look like a nightgown.
37:43And I think that's such a great color.
37:45It's just not exactly such a great fabric.
37:47He did say the fabric wanted to dance.
37:49He tried to make something structured, and it didn't work.
37:52I think kudos for him for not forcing it.
37:57Because then you have someone like Marlene, who did force it.
38:00Marlene really did not come across.
38:03I don't think she has a sensual tie to fabric.
38:07But there was something in the back that told me that she has design in her.
38:11You know, props to her for giving us an intention and perhaps pushing the boundaries.
38:16Like, Edmund to me gave me nothing.
38:18At least Marlene gave me a thought.
38:21We've made our decision.
38:26Okay, let's bring him back out.
38:32Designers, one of you is the winner of this week's challenge.
38:35And one of you will be eliminated tonight.
38:42Ken, your design has put you through to next week.
38:45Helen and Stanley.
38:50One of you will receive tonight's special prize.
38:54Tell us, Isaac, what is it?
38:56The winning designer will collaborate with me
38:59on a capsule collection for my line at Lord & Taylor.
39:04Wow.
39:05The winning designer is...
39:10Isaac, do you want to...
39:11Stanley.
39:12I got to hug you now.
39:17Hooray.
39:19I love this glove.
39:21Yes.
39:21Well done to you too, Helen.
39:23We will see you next week.
39:27I won.
39:28I'm so excited.
39:29Yes, Stanley.
39:30The only thing about winning twice in a row is the pressure to keep the momentum going.
39:35Who, who, who?
39:36Good job.
39:37Pressure's on, but you know, I'm up for it.
39:40And, and he'll be making a capsule collection with Isaac for next season.
39:46I know.
39:46Oh.
39:47No way, right?
39:48Wow.
39:48Wow.
39:49I'm just like, shaking.
39:53Edmund, you had a low score, but you are safe.
39:57Good luck.
40:00Merlin, we love your unique architectural approach to design, but you need to learn which fabrics work
40:08best for you.
40:10Anthony, we've been impressed by your work, but this week it was way off.
40:15Your dress did nothing to flatter your model and your design was full of flaws.
40:21The eliminated designer tonight is...
40:23Merlin.
40:35And that means, Anthony, we are going to see you next week.
40:42Merlin, thank you so much for joining us on All Stars.
40:45I'll see you next week.
40:49Bye, guys.
40:50Bye, Millie.
40:50We love you.
40:51You inspire us.
40:52You're amazing.
40:53For me, I felt like it was a win because I got to know myself as a designer and I love the fact
40:58that I took a risk.
41:01Millie.
41:01Millie.
41:02You're safe?
41:03No, I'm going home.
41:04Oh, I came out just so happy.
41:06I'm gonna miss everybody.
41:07I know.
41:07It's something to be said when you work in a creative environment, how that juice keeps flowing.
41:11Bye, baby girl.
41:12Bye, baby girl.
41:13Bye.
41:14Bye, baby girl.
41:16For me, it's about where you're going.
41:18And I feel like All Stars took me to the next level for my career.
41:26Next on Project Runway All Stars,
41:28Zach Hozen has never allowed cameras into his workroom until now.
41:33But he's extended an exclusive invitation to you guys.
41:36Wow.
41:37Can't do a evening wear challenge in 10 hours.
41:42Seeing a shoe wouldn't be a no-no.
41:46I'm not going to play this game.
41:47So insulting.
41:49That's a little shady.
41:50I am always one for a ruffle and a flower.
41:53It's not how hard you work.
41:54It's what it looks like.
41:55Boobies or no boobies.
41:57This dress is really great.
41:58I'm dying over here.
42:11It's not how hard you're going to play.
42:11It's not how smart you can do it.
42:21You can't follow up on a group.
42:22You can go to the ranks.
42:24You can't do it.
42:25I am not going to be the one for a while.
42:27I am also one for a while.
42:29One for a long time.
42:30I'm not going to be the one for a long time.
42:31I am not going to be the one for a long time.
42:33I'm not going to go.
