00:01Previously on Project Runway All-Stars.
00:03We are inside the MetLife Stadium
00:05to launch our biggest season ever.
00:08Oh, my God.
00:10They're bringing back All-Stars.
00:11It's rookies versus vets.
00:14But after this week, no more teams.
00:17Each team will create a collection,
00:19and that all happens now.
00:21I don't know the direction Casanova is going in.
00:23I'm wondering if he even has one.
00:25I'm not getting fierce.
00:26This is not a time to play it safe.
00:30There's a fresh glamour to this dress.
00:34The movement when it walked down the runway
00:36was really beautiful.
00:37There are problems in your seaming.
00:39That's something for you to work on.
00:41But I think it's a bent hip.
00:42This dress is so strong,
00:44but also really soft and feminine.
00:46I love the nudity of her arm.
00:48It's such a sexy thing.
00:49The winner is Marilyn.
00:52Her hips look giant.
00:54It looks like a dress off the rack.
00:56You've got a ton of issues going on here.
00:58I want her to change right now.
01:01The designer eliminated tonight is Casanova.
01:05Casanova.
01:22Wow.
01:23Damn it.
01:24It's not normal for Alyssa to be in our workroom.
01:28Oh my God.
01:29A little bit nerve wracking.
01:31I don't know about all that.
01:34I see these cages and mannequins are in the trash.
01:37There's like caution tape everywhere.
01:41There's like smoke.
01:42What is going on?
01:44One week down and already this workroom has been destroyed.
01:49What are you guys doing here?
01:51Huh?
01:52I don't know.
01:53I better clean this place up a little bit.
01:56Okay.
02:00Now listen.
02:01I have enough chemicals in my hair to like wipe out a nation.
02:04So...
02:05Lord, please!
02:08I'm just kidding.
02:09But I do know that out of chaos can come a beautiful runway.
02:15And this week we want to see you tackle a new trend in fashion.
02:20Ooh.
02:21Major designers are embracing the theme of distress to create post-apocalyptic fashion.
02:27Ooh.
02:28Oh.
02:29Distress denim is coming back, but now you're seeing holes in t-shirts.
02:32It truly is a huge trend right now.
02:34You must use at least two different techniques to help your distressed looks.
02:38You've got blow torches, sanders, and vats of all kinds of liquids.
02:45I think I'm going to set my clothes on fire.
02:47Not all the way because I don't want holes, but wheels are turning.
02:50We also want you to come up with a scenario that your woman has survived on the way to the runway.
02:57You have $200 each for fabric at Mood.
03:01Your post-apocalyptic runway is tomorrow.
03:04Wow.
03:05So please try to stay alive until then.
03:08Time to get sketching.
03:10Oh!
03:11Oh, hey.
03:14My girl is a firefighter.
03:16Everybody else's girl is running away.
03:18She goes to the fire.
03:19But she's fly, so I'm thinking like a nice little form-fitted jacket and pants with the exaggerated train.
03:28So it's 2181.
03:30My girl's half human and half a species that we don't know about.
03:34The garment that she has is the map to get to the key that has the power.
03:38So I'm sketching triangle geometric shapes.
03:41I'm always dreaming of these women that I want to be.
03:43My lady was an ice princess and she's like, this sucks. It's cold. So she takes off. She finds this rave. She starts dancing. She heats up. She sets the whole entire world on fire.
03:56So she may or may not have started this apocalypse.
04:00So I'm sketching nude mesh pants, black shorts that go over that and then over that the bodice ties in.
04:07I know when I get to Mood the fabrics will speak to me.
04:10Okay guys, time's up. Let's go to Mood.
04:13Here you guys, 30 minutes.
04:19I need African tribal.
04:23My girl is this princess from Gambia. And then while inside of the ball she finds out, honey, the world has just completely fallen apart. But in the end she still has all this regalness.
04:35Oh, I like this. My design for this challenge is a beautiful gown. The silhouette is fitted at the top and it flares from the waist down.
04:44Yeah, this is going to be perfect. My girl got caught in a fire at some red carpet event and she's just trying to navigate herself through the fire to get out.
04:52So I'm designing a green silk taffeta gown with a mesh knit bodice and a big three-tiered ruffled skirt.
05:00Pale pink. Am I blind?
05:02This challenge was basically made for someone like me. I'm comfortable with burning things, boiling things.
05:07My woman survives a huge shift in all of her tectonic plates and all the volcanoes erupted around the world.
05:12We'll go with this one.
05:13I'm going to go for a wool coat and silk dress. And I'm dyeing my fabric with red fabric dyes because that is something I do really well.
05:21Five minutes.
05:32Did anybody else get a blow torch?
05:41Come on, let's go.
05:45So we get back to the workroom and it's already a disaster zone. People are banging and blow torching. It smells like burnt hair. I'm wondering if my hair is on fire.
05:56Is bleach flammable?
05:58Yes.
06:04So last week I made the top three. Woo-woo, first challenge. But Merlene won. And you know what? Honestly, I was a little shocked because her design aesthetic I don't really get.
06:14I'm thinking I'm going to do 2D and then 3D. I've never done a 3D garment. So for me, that's going to be different. And then I'm adding candle dripping. I'm adding spray paint.
06:27Once this is all done, then I have to distress it.
06:31So on Project Runway All-Star Season 4, I was living and working out of my parents' basement. And now I have my studio in midtown Manhattan. I just feel confident now. And that has a lot to do with why I'm back.
06:43I just want to get this dang thing made if I can just burn it. My season of Project Runway was an all-team season. So this is my first non-team challenge in the history of Project Runway. So I'm excited.
06:52All this hard work.
06:53All this hard work and then you just burn it.
06:57I got to get this bodysuit done now. So the most difficult part about my design is creating the textile. I have this really fun sequence that I am so excited to lay underneath the sweater material that is just screaming my name.
07:11I know it's going to take a while. I need to stay focused and just crush it.
07:15How's your fur?
07:16I have a fur ball in my mouth.
07:18I can't wait to hear your story on stage. Like, I hope I'm there.
07:21I hope I'm there too.
07:27I know nothing about shred and fabric.
07:32I think everyone is being pushed out of their comfort zone because designers don't always distress their garments. We make beautiful things, not rip them apart.
07:40Don't cut you, Sue.
07:41I'm not.
07:44Wait a minute, bitch.
07:46Oh, I ain't bleeding yet. You know, I'll bend the off when I thought I bleed.
07:50It is most definitely challenging for me to destroy fabric. I have an appreciation for the hand of material and how it moves.
07:58So, for me to completely abandon that thought process for this challenge is really a challenge within a challenge for me.
08:05Huh.
08:07Anthony is such a precious lady that this challenge has thrown him for a loop.
08:17Oh, Josh, I'm so lost.
08:20Anthony's kind of freaking out. He wants everything crisp. So, he's just lost.
08:27I wonder what bleached after this thing.
08:30I know in my mind the dress that I want to create, but I'm having this constant battle about how to distress fabric.
08:37Color's so weird. I feel like I should just leave it.
08:40What am I going to do?
08:46Coming up on Project Runway All Stars.
08:49My thing looks nothing like anybody else's.
08:51I'm scared.
08:52Don't be scared.
08:53Is it hot?
08:54Woo!
08:55And starting a fire.
09:10What smells like burning flesh?
09:14If anybody at home think that we are just doing arts and crafts at this point, you have lied to yourself. This is hard as hell.
09:24The challenge this week is to create a post-apoca-
09:27Post-apoca-

10:02It made us way to denim in the 80s,
10:04and people like Jeremy Scott have brought it
10:06to the forefront more recently.
10:08But I'm really looking forward to seeing how you've used
10:10all these techniques today.
10:11Char, we're gonna start with you.
10:13What are you making here?
10:14My girl is a sexy firefighter.
10:17I want the pants to kind of be form-fitted here,
10:19but flare off a little bit,
10:20almost like they're burning off of her.
10:22Okay, are they gonna finish at the bottom?
10:23Or are they gonna be, like, charged in the flames?
10:25No, we're gonna just, yeah, it's gonna be here.
10:26Okay.
10:27And then I wanna do Detroit firefighters on the back
10:29because I grew up in Detroit.
10:31Okay.
10:32Don't want it to be a Halloween costume.
10:33Okay.
10:34It'll come together pretty good.
10:35All right.
10:36First win of the new season.
10:37Congrats.
10:39Credit to your feedback.
10:40So when Anne speaks, I listen.
10:42Because the first time, I got my feelings hurt.
10:44Right now, it looks like a little house on the prairie.
10:46I am editing down.
10:49Congratulations, Marilyn.
10:51It took me to the next level.
10:53I'm gonna go in and kind of create these cool
10:55three-dimension shapes.
10:57I mean, the silhouette right now is, like,
10:58actually a basic shift dress.
10:59Yes.
11:00Yeah.
11:01But I think you've got a lot of potential here.
11:03Okay.
11:04I have a silk Georgette that I'm gonna be ombre-ing.
11:05Oh, my God.
11:06I also have a coat that's gonna go over the dress,
11:07which I'm gonna be using bleach to distress.
11:10You're gonna do the ombre dye job,
11:12then you're gonna distress the silk,
11:14then you're gonna do all of the things you need to do
11:16to the wool, including bleaching it.
11:18Yeah.
11:19I agree.
11:20It's a lot of work, so I'm a little panicked.
11:22I would just make sure that the judges can see the distressing
11:25and they should be able to see what the technique was.
11:27Okay.
11:28Have you tried any of your distressing methods yet?
11:29Uh, no.
11:30Okay, let's try it out.
11:31Get a nice fray going.
11:32There's a big difference between mess and distress.
11:34Yes, exactly.
11:35So I would rip it up a little.
11:37That's the hard part.
11:38We work hard on these.
11:39Am I distressing enough?
11:41I don't see any distressing yet.
11:42Right.
11:43I've never distressed a garment in my life.
11:45Go bold.
11:46I wanted this whole layered ruffles,
11:48sort of bohemian kind of skirt.
11:49This is gonna go over it.
11:50You're going to have to think about
11:52how it's not gonna look like a pretty prom dress.
11:55Okay.
11:56I feel like a lot of Stanley's designs look very costumey.
11:59I have this woodcutter.
12:00Is it hot?
12:01Yes.
12:02Don't touch it, Anne.
12:03Okay.
12:04So obviously the longer you hold it.
12:05Oh, right.
12:06Woo!
12:07Okay.
12:08Oh my God.
12:09Anne, starting a fire.
12:11This post-apocalyptic world,
12:14there's still the hierarchy of society,
12:16and here she is on the run.
12:18I'm gonna distress it with some paintballs.
12:21Is there like a paint gun range here?
12:23Should we try it?
12:24We should.
12:27Kinda like that.
12:29The effect is fantastic.
12:30So I'm gonna end up burning all this from the bottom up.
12:33Okay.
12:34So you can like really see your legs.
12:35Have you tried burning either of them yet?
12:37No.
12:38I was cutting these holes
12:39and then putting the new textiles in there.
12:41Kelly created her textile, which is great.
12:43It looks beautiful, but the fringe on the shorts,
12:47it doesn't look like she's doing enough.
12:49So I really wanted to do this idea of this African queen
12:53who survived the end of the world.
12:55Something tragic happened,
12:56but I'm really just kinda doing what I know to do first,
12:58build a foundation.
12:59I think articulating how she lost everything
13:02will help you come up with your distress method.
13:05Okay.
13:06Anne is challenging me to look beyond the end product
13:10and try to figure out how did you get to that end?
13:12What happened to my girl?
13:14Crafting a story in your head
13:15will give you some methodology.
13:17I get that.
13:18Designers, it's been so interesting
13:19to see your reaction to this challenge.
13:21At Marie Claire, we really celebrate designers
13:23and pushed boundaries.
13:25And who knows?
13:26I've been so inspired by today
13:27that if I really love the winning design,
13:29I may just put it on the pages of Marie Claire.
13:32Ooh.
13:33So, good luck.
13:34Awesome.
13:37It's really real.
13:42She was like, you haven't distressed at all.
13:49Even though Anne tells me,
13:51be careful that it doesn't go too costumely,
13:53I'm still gonna stick to what I originally planned.
13:56My take on making something that's still identifiable,
14:00but with a twist.
14:04What are you up to?
14:05I'm about to blow torch.
14:07Anne's advice, it gave me a foundation.
14:10Oh, I'm scared to turn it.
14:12I know now that if my girl went through the fire,
14:16then her dress must be burned.
14:19Dear God, it's Anthony again.
14:22Please do not let me burn up
14:24on Project Runway All-Stars,
14:26as it would be embarrassing
14:27to have already lost once before
14:29and then catch on fire your second damn time around.
14:33What if I blow up?
14:37Ah!
14:38It worked!
14:40Oh, my God.
14:41It most definitely was a sacrifice
14:43against my natural will to blow torch fabric.
14:46But it is so much fun burning stuff up.
14:50Aw, you guys, these are my favorite pants.
14:55You got bleach on them?
14:56Oh!
14:57Are the models coming in soon?
15:03We're just gonna finish off the back.
15:05Let me continue in for now.
15:07I was so worried about the pants.
15:09Candace is ahead of the game right now.
15:11Her look has all this volume,
15:13and I really, really like it.
15:14I'm gonna ask for a better fit right now,
15:17especially because I have a lot of work to do tonight.
15:21Okay, go ahead.
15:22The pants are fitting her great.
15:23To me, having an exaggerated train
15:25on the back of a pair of pants,
15:26it's so different that I wanted to make sure
15:28that I knock it off the park.
15:29Fit her butt cute, too.
15:30We're just gonna put on these shoes.
15:33I'm using these great pair of open-toe booty heels
15:37from the intermix wall,
15:38so it should go really well
15:39with the color scheme of my look.
15:40Do you feel post-apocalyptic?
15:41Yes.
15:42Whatever.
15:43Whatever.
15:44This is gonna be cute.
15:45I'm excited.
15:46So seeing my garment on the model
15:47is definitely what was in my head,
15:49and now I'm figuring out
15:50how I'm gonna do this.
15:51What are you doing?
15:52What are you doing?
15:53This is gonna be cute.
15:54I'm excited.
15:55So seeing my garment on the model
15:56is definitely what was in my head,
15:58and now I'm figuring out
15:59how I'm gonna distress this fishnet
16:01on the bottom.
16:02Love it.
16:03It's gonna be burned,
16:04and I'm gonna put charcoal over it.
16:08No, it's not gonna be burnt on you.
16:09No.
16:12Have a good one.
16:13Bye.
16:14Guys, we have one hour left.
16:19So it's the end of the day,
16:20and as usual,
16:21my thing looks nothing like anybody else's.
16:23I'm gonna ombre it up.
16:25You are?
16:26I'm scared.
16:27Don't be scared.
16:28I love Kelly's vibe.
16:29I think our girls would hang out,
16:31but I'm a little concerned
16:33that she's not distressing enough.
16:35You can do it.
16:36It's okay.
16:37It's okay, Marlene.
16:39You all right, Marlene?
16:41I'm gonna lose my mind.
16:42I don't know what I'm doing.
16:43For me, I feel like time is like,
16:45it just passed by, you know?
16:47Marlene, you look like
16:48you just escaped the loony bin.
16:50I just got together
16:51and didn't burn it tomorrow morning.
16:53My dress has not been distressed
16:54and is not even put together.
16:55All of us have so much work to do.
16:57Tomorrow morning,
16:58I have to get to the blowtorch
16:59and get to distressing.
17:00I mean,
17:01can I just throw her into the fire
17:03and then be done?
17:04All right, guys, time's up.
17:05We gotta go.
17:06Okay.
17:07It's okay.
17:08It's not the end of the world.
17:10Technically, it's an apocalypse.
17:12Coming up on Project Runway All Stars.
17:16I'm praying that these things
17:17are not dripping off her
17:18as she walked down the runway.
17:20I have misjudged my time.
17:22I'm really just trying to hustle.
17:23He may be in trouble.
17:29All right, let's get this going.
17:30All right.
17:31And so it begins.
17:35Morning of the runway,
17:36there's a lot to do.
17:37I know that distressing this look
17:38could eat up all my time this morning.
17:44I get the idea last minute.
17:46Like, maybe I should throw some headphone,
17:48like, furry earmuffs
17:50because she lives in an icebox,
17:51so her ears are probably cold.
17:53I have this cool fur left over.
17:55Like, let's do it.
17:57You're kidding me, right?
17:58You're kidding me, right?
17:59Look.
18:02Where's the other way?
18:03Not the other way.
18:04That's...
18:05Maybe the other way.
18:06I can't with you.
18:08I just can't.
18:09You're ridiculous.
18:11Oh, that's sick.
18:13Have you looked around the room?
18:15It looks like a crazy barbecue gone wrong.
18:18Fire.
18:19Oh, .
18:20That's really hot on my foot.
18:23Yeah, that's beautiful.
18:25It's like hard rain.
18:26So romantic.
18:27Maybe it's a post-apocalyptic,
18:29like, acid world.
18:33Oh!
18:34I'm super, super, super nervous right now
18:36because I haven't done enough distressing,
18:39and the model's about to show up.
18:40I'm praying that these things are not dripping off her
18:43as she walked down the runaway.
18:47Hi.
18:48Good morning.
18:49Models come in,
18:50and I'm still in the brother sewing room.
18:52I have to attach the ruffles to the bodice,
18:55and then distress my dress.
18:56It's got to burn the hell out of this dress.
18:58I have, like, misjudged my time.
19:00I'm really just trying to hustle and get it done.
19:03Waiting on the Lord.
19:04Okay, pull that through, the tool through.
19:06I thought a beautiful turban made of netting would be great.
19:10I burn it and distress it,
19:12because, you know, at this point I'm the distresser.
19:14Um...
19:16The dresser turned distresser.
19:18Boom-chicka-boom-boom.
19:19Hi, welcome to the Umberto hair salon.
19:24Distress mode.
19:25I was thinking off-skew center with a fishtail braid
19:29and just have it, like, really messy.
19:31We'll finish it off with the Umberto dry shampoo,
19:33and it'll give you that messy, nice texture.
19:35Yeah.
19:36Everything to the right.
19:37And on this side, lots of volume.
19:38We'll use the super strong hair spray from Umberto.
19:41It will definitely give you that control you need.
19:43Perfect.
19:44Welcome to the Grodial Glam Room.
19:46I want to do, like, a runny mascara.
19:48We're using Glamalash on the Glamazon.
19:51The surface of the earth has been scorched,
19:53so I want it a little burnt, but gorgeous.
19:56Warm, golden skin.
19:58Mm-hmm.
19:59Then the cheek is really burnt.
20:07Let me see.
20:09I don't really understand Char's look,
20:12because a firefighter would probably be burnt, right?
20:17But I don't think she burnt the fabric at all.
20:19Yeah.
20:20I don't get it.
20:21Ah!
20:24Yeah? Okay.
20:25She's a nice princess.
20:27Kelly's design is so her.
20:29I love the fact that she made the headphones from scratch.
20:32I thought that was really clever.
20:34How much time?
20:35Five minutes.
20:36Ah!
20:37I'm gonna do one more thing real quick.
20:43Are you burning it on her?
20:44Yeah, I did.
20:45Girl, if you catch fire, just roll.
20:46Just run.
20:47Rock and roll.
20:48Stanley's look is very well made.
20:50You know, he can sew.
20:51But I think the fashion forward elements were a little bit lost,
20:55so he may be in trouble.
20:57That's it, guys.
20:58Time to go to the runway.
20:59You look fabulous, don't they?
21:02All right.
21:04This is so nice.
21:06Well, she's distressed.
21:07That's not fair.
21:08Wow.
21:10Coming up on Project Runway All Stars.
21:13I love this.
21:14It just looks like it got caught in a lawnmower.
21:18This week, you blew it out, and you don't know it, and that scares me.
21:23The winner of Project Runway All Stars will receive a fashion spread of Marie Claire
21:28and a position at the magazine as contributing editor, an inspiring trip for two to fashion
21:33capital London, England, and luxurious skin care and makeup for their debut show and beyond,
21:39all provided by Rodial.
21:41From Intermix, accessories and styling services to enhance their next collection,
21:46from Brother Sewing and Embroidery, a complete sewing and crafting studio to launch their line,
21:52and to elevate their business and build their brand, a cash prize of $100,000.
22:00She's so cute.
22:02Hi.
22:03Hi.
22:04Hi.
22:05Hello, designers.
22:07Hi.
22:08This week's challenge was to create a post-apocalyptic runway by distressing your looks in the most extreme
22:15way possible.
22:16And hopefully our judges won't make the runway too distressing for you.
22:22Let's meet them.
22:23First, co-founder and designer of luxury brand Marquesa, Georgina Chapman.
22:28Hi, designers.
22:29Hi.
22:30Hi.
22:31Next, one of the most iconic names in American fashion, Mr. Isaac Mizrahi.
22:36Hi.
22:37And his poodle.
22:38Hi, poodles.
22:39Hi.
22:40And our guest judge is one of the breakout stars of the global phenomenon that is Orange
22:45is the New Black.
22:46She won two Screen Actors Guild Awards.
22:47And more recently, she created major buzz on Broadway with her Tony-winning role in the
22:55hit revival of the musical, The Color Purple.
22:58Please welcome stage and screen star Danielle Brooks.
23:01Hello.
23:02Hi.
23:03As you know, we're judging blind, so we won't know who designed which distressed looks until
23:10after the runway.
23:11Have a great show.
23:14Yeah, that's cool.
23:16Wow.
23:17I love the fabrics that I've chosen, but I'm nervous because I've never done a distressed
23:28garment.
23:29I'm trying to present something clean, and right now is not the time to play safe.
23:42I love that the pants are dragging around.
23:43Dragging around.
23:44Yeah.
23:45I'm feeling confident about my design because it's so different from the other designers.
23:49I'm just worried that they'll say that it looks a little costumey.
24:03I've never done anything like this before where I've brought a technique like that into fashion.
24:08So I'm just hoping that I'm in the top.
24:23She looks real powerful, chic, and regal.
24:27The jacket has the effect I want, and I love the umbring effect on the dress.
24:33I'm not completely confident in what I've put together, but my tailoring is impeccable,
24:48and I think they'll see that the ideas and the elements are there.
25:01I feel like I completely nailed it.
25:08The bodice is everything, and I just hope it reads on the runway, because the time put
25:12in that little bodice is, like, incredible.
25:14Amanda, you are giving me life right now.
25:29I feel like my look is a bold statement.
25:32You continue to find something new, like you can see the handwriting, or you can see the trim on the jumpsuit.
25:38I'm not trying to bore Isaac Mizrahi.
25:41All right.
25:50I really love how the gown flows and flutters down the runway.
25:54After burning those holes, it gave the skirt much more air and much more life than it would have.
25:58That jacket is so nasty.
26:11I love how vibrant the target is through the clear vinyl.
26:16The techniques on the shoulder of the coat with the dripping wax is such a cool effect.
26:21I'm just excited that this looks as fantastic as it does.
26:31Last feedback, my lines were an issue, so I made sure that everything was clean, it was polished.
26:37It has, like, detail, but yet it has structure.
26:54I like those pants.
26:56I'm in love with it.
26:57I feel like I achieved the mixture of this hard and soft.
27:01It's not normally something that I do, but I feel like it still has my language.
27:07I think the element that I add is an ultimate sexiness.
27:18I love the sculptural design that I've taken the time to, like, hand sew and create on the side.
27:23I'm feeling good.
27:24I'm loving it.
27:25Looks like fashion.
27:26You know what I mean?
27:27I love my design.
27:28I love the color.
27:29I love the concept.
27:30It fits her really well.
27:44I'm happy with it.
27:45I think she just looks pretty badass.
28:00She looks like the character I wanted to create.
28:03I love the pants.
28:04I love the top.
28:05I probably actually would wear all of those things.
28:15Oh.
28:16That's fantastic.
28:17Wow.
28:18I have an absolute appreciation for the work, for the color, for the beauty of my model.
28:25And she is handling this tattered, abused gown like a pro.
28:31That was amazing.
28:32Yeah.
28:33So good.
28:34Designers, your distressed looks definitely set the runway on fire.
28:52The runway we've ever seen, I think, personally.
28:54It was so, like, not boring.
28:57It's a pet peeve of Isaac's is the boring.
29:00Oh, my God.
29:01If I call your name, please step forward.
29:04Ari.
29:05Marlene.
29:07Stanley.
29:09Char.
29:12Kelly.
29:13Anthony.
29:15Step forward, girl.
29:18You represent the highest and the lowest scores of the week.
29:25The rest of you are safe, and you can make your way to the backstage lounge.
29:32Goodbye, guys.
29:34Great job.
29:35One of you is the winner of this week's challenge.
29:39And one of you will be eliminated tonight.
29:42Anthony, what in the world happened to your girl on the way to the runway?
29:53My girl was a princess from Gambia, and inside of the Met Gala, you know, they found
29:58out the world had ended, and it was chaos, and the dress just caught on fire.
30:02Somehow I knew that that was going to be your story.
30:05Well, if you're going to tell a story, tell a story.
30:08I love this.
30:10It's elegant, it's balanced, but I would have hated that fabric had you not distressed it.
30:16Did you paint that on?
30:17I did do a lot of distressing and painting and charcoal, but I bought the fabric with
30:21the flowers already on it.
30:23I love the split.
30:24I love a bit of sexiness.
30:25I could have watched this on the runway for another five minutes.
30:29I like that the distressed nature of it looks like it's just part of the design.
30:34Sometimes distressing goes a little dirty, but this is distressed and fresh as a daisy.
30:41You know what I thought about?
30:42If you showed this with really thick, shiny tights highlighting these fabulous legs.
30:48I've never really embraced bringing the sexiness into my garments.
30:53Well, darling, this is my big comment to you.
30:55You have to know what you're capable of.
30:57This week you blew it out, and you don't know it, and that scares me a little bit.
31:02Stanley.
31:03She survived an evening at the opera where a fire broke out.
31:08I used spray paint, charcoal, and a blowtorch.
31:11I adore what you've done with this olive taffeta, the way you've burnt it.
31:17But then I get to the top, and the top to me is suddenly becoming a little cheap.
31:22Remember, this is a fashion competition and not a costume competition.
31:25Exactly.
31:26This model fell into the fire too perfectly for me.
31:30I wish one of the shoulders was off.
31:32Right.
31:33But I love the color.
31:34The color from that blowtorch is actually really, really beautiful.
31:39I think there's a fragility to the fishnet that kind of works, but I disagree about the color.
31:44I think that's your big problem.
31:45Okay.
31:46If that dress was black or even shades of white, it would go much less kind of swamp thing than it's going right now.
31:53Yeah.
31:54Marilyn.
31:55It's 2180, galaxy 51, and her planet has taken over by humans.
32:02I wanted to create a garment that would have the floor plan of how to get to the key.
32:07I used torting, wax, and then spray painting two different colors.
32:12I love your story, and I really feel that fiction that you've created through nothing more than this little sleeveless black dress, right?
32:20It's fabulous.
32:21Yeah.
32:22You really honed in on what we talked about last week, and you've sharpened up your lines.
32:26In the back, I enjoy the way you've distressed it.
32:29But at the front, the shoulders look a little bit unfinished.
32:32I think the structure is sick.
32:34I love the peekaboo holes for hair, the glasses.
32:38I love how you added these 3D pieces.
32:42I appreciate the way you think.
32:45It inspires me.
32:46Aw, thank you.
32:47You're welcome.
32:49Shari, you're next.
32:50She's a hip fashionista firefighter, so she gets a call that there's an explosion in her neighborhood.
32:56She rushes over, her outfit gets shredded, they pulled the sleeve off.
33:00Darling, one thing that I think is absolutely divine about this is this idea of pants with a train, because I don't think I've ever seen that.
33:08Like, that is one hell of a kooky and great idea.
33:12I like this jacket, how it's, like, finely distressed, and then you get to the bottom, and it just looks like it got caught in a lawnmower or something.
33:21I do like the high-waisted pants, and I actually like the hand bit that you did.
33:27I thought that was kind of cool and innovative.
33:29When I look at this, I don't really see a design.
33:32And this writing on the back, it's sort of going party city to me.
33:36I saw what you did last week, I know how capable you are.
33:39Don't get lost in the challenge.
33:41Start with a design that you like, then distress it.
33:45Kelly, tell us how your woman survived.
33:47Actually, she started the apocalypse.
33:50She was an ice princess from a faraway galaxy, and she sees this big party in the desert, and she dances so much, she sets the whole world on fire.
33:59We should have lunch sometimes, because you're hysterical. You're so funny.
34:02Oh, my God. I love your story.
34:03I love to. Stop it.
34:04Can you tell me about the funny embroidery on the bodice?
34:07I've spent a lot of the time creating this textile.
34:09This was a fabric, and then I cut a bunch of holes, and then I filled it with sequins and zipper details.
34:15One of the good parts of this is that textile, because it's sort of fascinating.
34:19And I love the idea of layering fishnets over fishnets, but sadly, in this runway, it didn't show very well.
34:27I'm more drawn to the accessories than I am the actual outfit. Like, I love the distressed shoes.
34:33I think you've got too many ideas going on with the embroidery, with the neckline, and I really think the headphones were a mistake.
34:40Don't spend time on accessories. Make an outfit.
34:43I feel like I stopped doing it, and then I went right back to it.
34:45There are 12-step programs for over-accessorizers.
34:48I've got to go back to one, all right?
34:50All the way down.
34:51Ari!
34:52Our tectonic plates all shifted suddenly around the world, and it set off all of our inactive volcanoes to erupt again.
34:58And the only ones who could survive were the ones who learned how to master the power of fire.
35:03She's this fire goddess.
35:05I like the degradé effect of how it's sharp on the top, and it goes to this distressed feeling at the bottom.
35:12I particularly like the dress underneath.
35:15This is so fabulous.
35:18I love your story, too.
35:20Everybody had really good stories this week, and if that's what it takes to make you guys do beautiful clothes, it really works.
35:26Did you bleach the fabric in that degradé thing in the center?
35:29I ombred white silk Georgette, and then I also painted with dyes.
35:33And then when I got the blowtorch, I kind of enjoyed it a lot.
35:36A little too much.
35:37But what I liked about it is that it started to look like a conceptual lacework.
35:41You created your own lace with a blowtorch.
35:44I don't think you went too far.
35:45I mean, we asked you to go extreme.
35:47Go big or go home, right?
35:48Yeah, exactly.
35:49I think you did a beautiful job.
35:50Thank you so much.
35:51Thank you, designers.
35:53The judges and I will deliberate, and we will call you back.
36:04Hi!
36:05How are you?
36:06How are you?
36:07How are you?
36:08Bring it in.
36:09We're dying to know.
36:10Well, they said that my dress looked like a really pretty costume.
36:13I totally agree with what they were saying.
36:15It was just like so many ideas in one.
36:17I could not have had a better critique.
36:19They responded really well.
36:20The one thing was that I probably went overboard with that blowtorch.
36:23Do your best every challenge, because one minute you're on the top,
36:26and the next minute you're on the bottom, baby.
36:30I loved that runway.
36:32You could feel the creativity, and you could feel that they'd let it go,
36:36and they'd listened from last week. It was great.
36:38Anthony let it go to such an extent...
36:40Yes.
36:41...that, like, he didn't realize how well he did.
36:43Anthony's look was distressed, but it didn't look dirty.
36:47No.
36:48And it did not look costuming at all.
36:50No.
36:51It was very balanced.
36:52From head to toe, he really thought it through.
36:55I think it was a beautiful work of art, and I'd love to wear it.
36:59But I also really liked Ari's.
37:04Yes, the dress was very pretty, but it was just that, a very pretty dress,
37:08if you took away the distress.
37:10I didn't like the regularity of Ari's burning.
37:12I think you referred to it as lace, but had it been lacy, I would have loved it.
37:16I was just more impressed with the fact that she was able to do all of that in ten hours.
37:23I want to talk about Marlene.
37:25Stunning.
37:26Stunning.
37:27Chic.
37:28And I love that her just two runways, we're already getting who she is as a designer.
37:33Georgina, she took your note about edges and really fine-tuning things.
37:36Yes.
37:37I mean, she really did.
37:38She brought that this week.
37:39She did.
37:42Our low scores, let's start with Char.
37:45I just thought this was a mess.
37:47A mess.
37:48It looked dirty and cheap.
37:50There was some distressing I thought actually worked, and then other parts where it just looked
37:54like she, I don't know, took a razor to it.
37:57That looked like a three-hour project.
37:59Yeah, but I think something marvelous about the idea of a pair of pants with a train.
38:08Kelly, to me, looked like she went to some boutique and bought loads of things and just
38:12kind of cut them up and spray painted them.
38:14I do like the fact that she is into making new medium, and I think that's really cool
38:20and unique.
38:21She had visions to us with a bad Burning Man costume.
38:24Right.
38:25If my teenage daughter was going to Burning Man and made her own thing, that's probably
38:29what she would look like.
38:32Let's discuss Stanley's look.
38:34It almost felt like he went on eBay and got an 80s prom dress and dyed it green and torched
38:40it.
38:41The apocalypse happened during a quinceanera.
38:43You know, like...
38:45I felt like he didn't go far enough for it to make a statement.
38:48It's not a bad dress.
38:50To me, this is so dated.
38:54So we've decided on our winner this week.
38:57And we all agree who we're sending home.
39:01Okay, let's bring them back out.
39:09Designers, one of you is the winner of this week's challenge, and one of you will be going
39:13home tonight.
39:20Ari, you did a great job, and you are safe.
39:25You can leave the runway.
39:26Thank you very much.
39:28Marilyn and Anthony.
39:30One of you is the winner of this week's challenge, and that designer is...
39:39Anthony.
39:40Congrats to you too, Marilyn.
39:43You can leave the runway.
39:46I won the challenge, and I feel terrific about it.
39:50Who won?
39:52But it's my third time on Project Runway, so winning a challenge most definitely does not
39:57change my approach.
39:59It's onward and upward to the next challenge.
40:01It was just kind of like, you know?
40:02We heard you.
40:03Y'all heard me?
40:04We heard you.
40:05Y'all heard me?
40:06We heard you.
40:07We heard you.
40:08Y'all heard me?
40:09We heard you.
40:11Char, you are safe.
40:12And through to next week.
40:14Good luck, Stanley.
40:20The designer eliminated tonight is...
40:22Kelly.
40:35Thank you for this chance.
40:37Stanley, you remain in the competition, and you can leave the runway.
40:41Kelly, thank you for joining us on All Stars.
40:48We wish you all the best.
40:53Take care.
40:54It's useful.
40:56I know that my aesthetic isn't for everybody.
40:58I've been dealing with that my whole life.
41:01No sadness.
41:03Nobody, none of that.
41:04No sadness.
41:05We still want to hug you.
41:06I feel like I'm definitely meant for some crazy life journey.
41:09Keep going.
41:11And maybe Project Runway All Stars isn't the thing.
41:13Thank you, guys.
41:14Bye.
41:15I like you.
41:16I'm happy that I was who I am.
41:17I've always been me.
41:19And I'll never change.
41:24Next, on Project Runway All Stars.
41:26We have an invitation to one of the world's most renowned fine dining experiences.
41:32Your fellow designer is not just your dinner companion.
41:34They are your partner for this challenge.
41:38If one look is a little weak, you're both going home.
41:41This runway could be a disaster.
41:43It's a tough competition.
41:45You need to know what you're doing.
41:47The model fitting isn't going as well as we need it to.
41:50How do I save this?
41:51The address just crosses a line that's bordering to slutty.
41:55I'm getting a little too much side boom.
41:57I was on Star Trek, so that's what I'm seeing when I look.
41:59Even when I look.
