00:01Previously on Project Runway All-Stars,
00:03it's time for a bait and switch.
00:06Let's see how well you can create evening resort wear
00:09using fabric chosen by another designer.
00:13I'm gonna cry so much.
00:15I got Kinney's brocade.
00:17It is not every day that I have to use somebody else's terrible fabric
00:20to make my gorgeous design.
00:22Getting Sam's bag really made me question him as a designer.
00:25All I have is three yards of turquoise lace.
00:29He has no idea what he's doing.
00:32This is just another jumpsuit.
00:34You really have to amp up this silhouette.
00:36This is not gonna win this competition.
00:43I'm crazy about this dress and I love the color,
00:46so please don't be afraid of colors like this.
00:49It's so beautiful. It's just stunning.
00:53The winning designer is Dom.
00:57Congratulations.
00:58Why all that construction? You have to throw it off.
01:01In regards to the length, it is looking like a bit of a mistake.
01:05I don't love this.
01:07The only thing evening about it is the cleavage.
01:10The designer eliminated tonight is Valerie.
01:14This is Project Runway All-Stars.
01:23The drama bookshop.
01:26Where are we going?
01:27Drama books.
01:28Hey, look.
01:29That is so cool.
01:30We walk into the drama bookshop.
01:32I'm thinking we may have to tell all these books and use the paper to create something.
01:37And I'm praying to baby Jesus that that's not true.
01:40Good morning, designers.
01:42Good morning.
01:43Welcome to the drama bookshop.
01:46The only theater bookshop to have won its very own Tony Award.
01:50So much inspiration comes from literature.
01:53And theater is no exception.
01:55There's one show on Broadway that takes its original story from one of the most famous
01:59children's classics of all time.
02:02Peter Pan.
02:03Please welcome leading lady of the hit Broadway musical, Finding Neverland, Laura Michelle Kelly.
02:12Hi, Laura Michelle.
02:15Laura Michelle Kelly, which is awesome because she's on Broadway and she's in Finding Neverland.
02:20So this is all kind of coming full circle.
02:22Well, Finding Neverland tells the story of how playwright J.M. Barrie found the inspiration
02:27from a young widow and her four boys to write Peter Pan.
02:31I play the young widow, Sylvia Llewellyn Davies, and every night we get to go on adventures
02:36and fly to Neverland.
02:41Sounds amazing.
02:42It is.
02:43Speaking of bringing fictional characters to life, your challenge is to create a modern
02:50runway look for a classic female character in literature.
02:54I've always wanted to design for modern day fairy tales.
02:59Hearing this challenge already, oh my God, it's like a dream come true.
03:03You might think you know these women, but your image of them comes from pop culture.
03:08Your challenge is to use only their backstory from literature to design a modern runway look.
03:14Dom, you're going to be up first.
03:17So Laura Michelle, take it away.
03:19I am a spunky, punky sprite with a bad attitude.
03:22I fly from London to faraway lands and hang out with a group that refuses to grow up.
03:27I am Tinkerbell.
03:29I love that.
03:31She's spunky and small, I'm spunky and small.
03:35Perfect.
03:36Sam's up next.
03:37A life at sea had me dreaming for more.
03:40I come from royalty but would willingly trade it in to be with the man of my dreams.
03:45I am the little mermaid.
03:47It's my sister's favorite fairy tale.
03:50It's kind of a sentimental challenge at this point.
03:52Kini's up next.
03:53I live in a fantasy wonderland and love a real mad tea party.
03:58I am Alice.
04:00Yeah.
04:01I am Rapunzel.
04:03Oh, nice.
04:04If I had my way, things would be frozen all year round.
04:07I am the Snow Queen.
04:09I am Snow White.
04:11That's cool.
04:12I was born poor and living in the French countryside.
04:15I eventually moved in with a real beast.
04:18Now my monster is my prince.
04:20I am Belle.
04:21Yay.
04:22When I was a young girl, my dad had a farm so I know how it is to grow up in the countryside
04:27and then move to a big city so I feel like I can inject a little bit of my story into this character.
04:33I used to work hard day in and day out but thanks to the help of my godmother, things have really turned around for me.
04:40I'm Cinderella.
04:41So cute.
04:42I can totally relate to Cinderella because we're both princesses and I'm a gorgeous tall blonde.
04:48Your budget is $200 each and you have one day in the workroom.
04:53The judges and I want to see a new modern look for your fictional clients.
04:57Okay.
04:58Good luck.
04:59It's off to mood.
05:01Have fun.
05:05Mood, mood, mood, mood.
05:06All right, people.
05:0730 minutes.
05:0830 minutes.
05:09Don't step on swatch.
05:10We have the sketch now, right?
05:11Sketch, sketch, sketch, sketch.
05:12This is Cinderella.
05:13She's one of the most elegant, one of the most royal of all royals in the fairytale land.
05:18So I'm thinking I'm just going to make her a gorgeous, elegant, modern gown.
05:22She's the rags to riches success story, of course.
05:23Out of what?
05:24I don't know.
05:25I need to search through mood and see what I find.
05:29I get Alice and I want to create a denim look.
05:36I want to keep her sophisticated, a little bit more funky and fantasy in the back.
05:41So I want to create a ruffle detail that's oversized and a sleek like shift dress in the
05:46front.
05:47I want to make my hair.
05:48I want to make my hair.
05:49Wait, who's your character again?
05:50Rapunzel.
05:51But it says, I spent most of my life in prison.
05:54But I always enjoy letting my hair down.
05:56So she likes to be comfortable.
05:57She's been in prison her whole life.
05:59True.
06:00She's a princess.
06:01I want to create a really regal jumpsuit and an overskirt so that she can say that she
06:06technically wears a dress and dresses the role of being a queen.
06:09But whenever the photos are over, she takes that overskirt off and she's like in her jumpsuit
06:14with the people.
06:15All right, people.
06:16Let's do this.
06:17Let's go shopping.
06:22This is cool.
06:24For the Little Mermaid, I want to do a crop top and a long pencil skirt and like a mesh
06:28netting or something to back my look with.
06:30It's sort of like they brought up the Little Mermaid and a net from the sea.
06:34Yeah, can I get two and a half, please?
06:36Two and a half.
06:37Okay.
06:39The top's going to be really simple.
06:40You're not going to see it.
06:42Something with my color.
06:44I am so stoked that I got Belle.
06:46What I'm thinking about designing is a very romantic, feminine dress.
06:51Probably I will go with a print, which is a bit of a risk.
06:54But I want to take that risk because my silhouette will be very classic.
06:59Five minutes!
07:07I got Tinkerbell and I am stoked.
07:10I get lots of different stripes and plaids and a few graphic prints.
07:15I'm going to use your table to make some decisions.
07:17I'm really going to tap into this edgier backstory with Tinkerbell and how she's basically hanging
07:23out with a bunch of misfits.
07:25So I'm giving her this cool shirt dress that's really long over a pair of stovepipe printed pants.
07:32All right, people!
07:33That's time!
07:34All right, thank you.
07:35Thank you!
07:36Thank you, Moon!
07:37Thank you, Moon!
07:38Bye!
07:45Alex, you're over here.
07:53What are you doing?
07:54I have Cinderella.
07:55I bought this for a full fishtail gown.
07:58So this will have a longer train, I mean, and this one will be for more fitted and whatnot.
08:03I think this is Alexander's challenge.
08:05With his costume background, I think this is the challenge that he should really push himself
08:10and he can show the judges what he's really made of.
08:13Oh, that's really pretty.
08:14Yeah, I thought it'd be nice and elegant.
08:15Yeah.
08:22These are pretty colors.
08:24I still cannot shake off that feeling of being on the bottom twice in a row.
08:31I will give them color.
08:33I'm thinking, oh my God, the judges see me as the weakest link in the competition, which I'm not.
08:38They're bored of me.
08:39This time, I'm going to be like the phoenix that rises from the ashes.
08:43That's all I can do.
08:50How big is it going to be?
08:52Oh, well, I mean, it's going to have a big old skirt on it.
08:55It's eight of us in the workroom now.
08:57The competition is getting stiff as hell.
09:00And to be quite honest, I'm nervous for myself because everyone is absolutely great at what they do.
09:06You know what I thought about this morning?
09:08It could be six of us right now.
09:11Both of you will get a second chance to show us what you've got.
09:16We're good.
09:17Safe.
09:18Both of you?
09:19Both of you?
09:20Yes.
09:21What?
09:22The only person that was during the saves is still the various now.
09:27Stop looking at me.
09:28Stop looking at me.
09:29Bye, girl.
09:31Well, I've also won two challenges.
09:33How many have you won, Keeney?
09:35I actually won three in Project Runway.
09:39And I went to Fashion Week.
09:41It's like one of those arguments you don't realize is an argument until about like halfway through and then like the mood changes and it gets serious.
09:51Go, Sam, go.
09:53If you want to get shut down again.
09:54Oh, good lord.
09:55You boys.
09:56I'll just keep shutting you down on the runway.
09:59Oh.
10:00Oh.
10:01That's where I do it.
10:02The only reason why Keeney's mad is because he's very frustrated.
10:07Sam on the fifth challenge should have been eliminated then and he wasn't.
10:12Run your mouth as much as you want.
10:13I'll be in the sewing room.
10:16Coming up on Project Runway All Stars.
10:18Sam and Keeney haven't been the same after that group challenge.
10:21I don't really give a if Keeney doesn't like me.
10:24Sam looks like he's just pinning swatches on net.
10:27Just another bit of from Keeney Samora.
10:34Go, Sam, go.
10:36If you want to get shut down again.
10:38Oh, good lord.
10:39You boys.
10:40I'll just keep shutting you down on the runway.
10:42Ooh.
10:43That's where I do it.
10:45Run your mouth as much as you want.
10:47I'll be in the sewing room.
10:48Okay, now it's getting a little ugly.
10:50It was funny now.
10:52Now it's getting a little awkward.
10:54Keeney should be more concerned with the fact that the judges don't seem to really be impressed with the work that he's put out this far in the competition.
11:02I don't really give a if Keeney doesn't like me.
11:05What I notice, that Sam and Keeney haven't been the same after that group challenge.
11:10It's day of the runway and I end up making a top for Sam's garment.
11:15Pretty much constructing the rest of his look.
11:17Probably Sam knows and he feels embarrassed.
11:21Knows what?
11:22That he didn't create that look.
11:24What didn't I make?
11:26The look from the country.
11:29Oh, the, yeah, no.
11:30Keeney made that flounce.
11:32You didn't make it?
11:33Keeney made it.
11:34I didn't know that.
11:35I made everything else.
11:36I made the parts that they liked.
11:38Keeney!
11:39Why?
11:40Did you?
11:41What?
11:42I didn't know you made Sam's top for that challenge.
11:46Yeah.
11:47The one that he was on top for.
11:50Once upon a time, there were a group of fashion designers.
12:05They were the fairest in all of the land.
12:07They were selected by the great Project runway all stars.
12:11Which designer would scape the spell of time management?
12:15We'll find out before the runway.
12:23Hi, designers.
12:24Hi.
12:25This is such a fun challenge.
12:28I have to say, though, it does have a real fashion connection.
12:32I've had the privilege of being front row at many shows that have been inspired by literature and fairy tales.
12:38I'm dying to find out who you all got.
12:40Let's start with you, Dom.
12:43I have Tinkerbell.
12:44Really?
12:45Highly appropriate.
12:47The topic of London came up in the story, so I wanted to play on this, like, 60s kind of London town.
12:52Nice.
12:53Cool, like, hipster.
12:54I'm all about that.
12:55I thought I was taking a risk with prints, but when I see Dom's, I don't like them.
13:00I just can't imagine what she's going to come up with.
13:03I love the vibe, but it's a very far cry from Tinkerbell.
13:07Make sure you sell it with the storyline attached to it.
13:11I have Rapunzel.
13:12So we're kind of doing a little tongue-in-cheek action and making her a really regal jumpsuit.
13:17And I was thinking about the runway, too, and I think when she walks, if I kind of make these slit panels where it will kind of blow away when she walks, that that might give it the most drama.
13:26It feels modern.
13:27It feels good.
13:28Finish is my one thing for you.
13:29Yeah.
13:30I have Cinderella.
13:31Mm-hmm.
13:32To me, she's the most regal, the most elegant, the classiest, of course.
13:36This is going to be a slim silhouette, and this will be sitting on top of it.
13:40Don't go too safe.
13:42Modernize it.
13:43Definitely.
13:44Fresh in her heart.
13:45If that involves doing something different with the length of it, then maybe that's what you have to do.
13:48Okay, I'll think about that.
13:49Hi, Liana.
13:50So my client is Belle.
13:52Her husband decided to surprise her.
13:55He's going to fly her to Argentina to watch a polo match.
13:58I've seen you do the same thing many times.
14:01I think you need to try something a little bit different.
14:04Okay.
14:05My character is Snow White.
14:06I'm making her a power suit.
14:08Anything but dark.
14:10I know you've got a bright color.
14:12Yeah.
14:13That's not enough to win this challenge.
14:14Okay.
14:15Well, I got the Snow Queen.
14:17This is Old Lady.
14:20She's the Little Mermaid.
14:21Mm-hmm.
14:22So in my description of her, she's trying to catch her man's eye.
14:25So I decided to, like, do this play on, like, a net.
14:28There's a certain freedom that comes with this character to me.
14:31Like, she's found her legs.
14:32I mean, I think you should really have that reflected in your look, too.
14:36Okay.
14:37Sam is making a crop top and pencil skirt.
14:40Another boring design.
14:42It looks like he's just pinning swatches on net.
14:45I got Alice.
14:47My favorite!
14:48Right?
14:49She's really rebellious.
14:50That's what I'm getting from that.
14:51So I'm thinking that I'm gonna do a proper silhouette in the front.
14:54Right.
14:55And then I wanted to create drama in the back, which I have.
14:58Which you certainly have, young man.
15:00Keeney is making a ladybug.
15:02Maybe Keeney was trying to disguise the fact that he, yet again, made a outfit with denim and horse hair.
15:07So just another bit of bull from Keeney Zamora.
15:10I'm all about the easy on the eye at the front and then the party at the back.
15:15Okay.
15:16Just make sure it's proportionate, though.
15:17That's my only worry.
15:18I don't want her walking out with this giant thing on her back.
15:20Yeah.
15:21I'm excited to see it.
15:23Designers, I think you've got some really fun ideas happening here.
15:27But my one piece of advice for all of you is this.
15:29Your inspiration may be these wonderful fictional characters, but this is still a modern runway look for today.
15:35Don't give the judges something off the rack.
15:37Remember, we have the bubble bar jewelry wall and Chinese laundry shoe wall all at your disposal.
15:43Use them.
15:44Good luck, guys.
15:47Me and Liana are the only two that haven't won a challenge yet.
15:53Sam's won like seven, though.
15:54I know.
15:55Did you hear him bragging about it today?
15:57Yes.
15:58Over lunch?
15:59You guys went at it, didn't you?
16:00So why do you hate him so much?
16:02But when he talks bull like that, I have to call him out on it.
16:05No, I agree.
16:06And did you see what he's actually doing?
16:07He's doing a crop top.
16:09The same exact thing that Stella got booted off for.
16:13And he's done it before.
16:15Models.
16:16Hi.
16:17Yes.
16:18We're doing like an edgy Tinkerbell.
16:21Okay.
16:22Legend calling look for you.
16:23I get my shirt on her to get it fitted because that has no back.
16:28So I have to make sure it looks on point because if it looks sloppy, I could be going home for that.
16:33Oh my god, the print is giving me vertigo.
16:36Looks good, though.
16:38Cool.
16:39Okay, so let me remark these just to make sure I got this right.
16:46I left enough seam allowance in the pants to make sure that I wasn't short on fabric at all, which is good.
16:51I don't have any parts of the skirt done yet.
16:53It's in the back of my head that I got to get that done.
16:55But I couldn't ask for a better fitting.
16:57Yeah, perfect.
16:58How does it feel?
16:59Feels good.
17:00Feels good?
17:01Yeah.
17:02Wonderful.
17:03Always what I like to hear.
17:05My fitting is pretty good.
17:06There's really nothing that I'm concerned about.
17:09This is moving.
17:10Yeah.
17:11It looks beautiful and it looks like nothing else in the room.
17:14It's basically full steam ahead from here.
17:16All right, bye, Hildy.
17:17Have fun tomorrow.
17:18See you in my morning.
17:19Oh my god.
17:20Bye.
17:26How's it going, Alexander?
17:27I'm freaking out about time.
17:29I haven't even cut out my outer dress yet.
17:32I have so much to do.
17:34I have two layers of the silk to work out.
17:36I have to create a train.
17:38I have to finish the bodice.
17:40I love it when I create more work for myself.
17:42The amount of time I don't have and how much work I have to do,
17:45I'm thinking, what the am I doing?
17:47Why am I doing this?
17:48Why am I making it so complicated?
17:5015 minutes, everybody!
17:57Are you adding a trim on the body?
17:58I think so.
17:59I'm not sure.
18:00I'm coming up with ideas.
18:02Nothing that it's like, oh my god, I transformed this into the most amazing dress.
18:07This is so hard.
18:09I think Liana's really falling into ready-to-wear.
18:13And, of course, at this point we can't be safe.
18:15We have to step up and do something better than everyone else.
18:18Liana, are you changing it?
18:20No, I'm finishing it.
18:22I'm in the mindset that I only have two options.
18:26I either win or I go home with something that I'm extremely proud of.
18:30All right, you guys, that's time.
18:31Okay.
18:32Get out.
18:33Get out.
18:34Coming up on Project Runway All-Stars.
18:37Let's sprinkle some fairy dust on these bitches.
18:39I cannot send an unfinished garment on the runway.
18:41I really like my look.
18:42You could see it at, like, a Marc Jacobs show or something.
18:45He literally threw fabric on a mannequin and hope it's stuck.
18:50What was I doing?
18:51Ow.
18:52The needles are sharp.
18:53Morning on the runway, I'm exhausted as hell.
18:55I think two hours will be enough for me, but I have to scramble.
19:12I cannot send an unfinished garment on the runway.
19:16Looking at the dress form, I'm questioning it so much.
19:19It's beautiful, but it's not enough.
19:21It's a bit hard to feel ecstatic when you don't love something that you made.
19:27Models!
19:28Hey!
19:29Good morning.
19:30It shouldn't poke you.
19:32I'm feeling really excited.
19:33I'm really confident in my look.
19:35Yeah.
19:36I feel like I totally executed Alice.
19:38It's like she was my customer for the day.
19:40Ready to go to the Schwarzkopf hair studio?
19:42Let's do it.
19:43Hey, Liberty Spikes!
19:44Good morning, Lynn.
19:45So I really wanted to carry that, like, spiky theme.
19:50It'll have a little texture to it, but we'll make it happen.
19:53Accentuated bun, like, to the side of her head.
19:55Right here.
19:56Yeah, exactly.
19:57Okay.
19:58Which character did you get?
19:59I have Rapunzel, so I want a braid as long as we can make it.
20:02This, like, really strong graphic braids.
20:05Dark smoke around her eyes really pop out her eyes.
20:09And I think maybe, like, a deep red lip, too.
20:11Okay, I love it.
20:13Thanks.
20:14I want one feature to stand out, but everything to kind of be real minimal.
20:19We should raise the interest up to a gorgeous bra.
20:22Okay.
20:23So I definitely want to keep it natural-looking and have the eyes be the focus.
20:27In the eye line, just dragging it down a little bit, and it just makes it look lashy.
20:35Try this on for me.
20:36Just make sure it fits around your waist.
20:38I knocked out a ton of stuff this challenge.
20:41I am, like, super proud of the fact that I got the whole jumpsuit together with the tuxedo stripe.
20:46So, yay for Asha.
20:48Yeah, and I love the smile, too.
20:50Oh, you look gorgeous.
20:51Okay.
20:52Let me go finish this.
20:54I really like my look.
20:55I think that it's really cool, and you could see it on the runway at, like, a Marc Jacobs show or something.
21:01It's perfect.
21:02Yeah.
21:03Really happy.
21:04Like, I love it.
21:05Hopefully the judges love it.
21:07She's sporty with a sporty mermaid.
21:10Sam is in trouble because it just looks like pieces of fabric pinned onto a pencil skirt on the crop top.
21:18It looks like he literally threw fabric on a mannequin and hope it's stuck, and that's just how it's gonna be.
21:23Tinker Bell.
21:25Let's sprinkle some fairy dust on these bitches.
21:27Doms is so cool.
21:29I love Doms.
21:30I would wear Doms in, like, a heartbeat.
21:32This color is so pretty on you.
21:34Actually, when I see the dress on my model, she looks so pretty.
21:40I think it's the perfect dress for Belle.
21:43It looks so beautiful.
21:44What?
21:45My attitude changes completely.
21:47She's, like, twirling around.
21:49Oh, I want to wear it.
21:50It looks really nice.
21:52I love this dress.
21:54Liana's dress is cute, but it doesn't feel designed.
21:57It feels like it's just a dress.
21:59It trails behind you nicely.
22:01Yeah.
22:02I think my garment looks beautiful.
22:04My dress fits her flawless.
22:07She's beautiful.
22:08She's royal.
22:09It's cute.
22:10It's pretty.
22:11Alexander makes a beautiful dress, but it does not read Cinderella to me.
22:15It's a little dull.
22:17It reads more like evil stepmom or evil stepsister.
22:20All right, guys.
22:21That's it.
22:22Let's head to the runway.
22:23All right, let's go.
22:27Coming up on Project Runway All Stars.
22:30I like that you took a risk.
22:32I get fantasy.
22:33I get adventurous.
22:34This dress just feels old.
22:36Damn.
22:37My neckline is so sort of like tacky.
22:39Oh, be nice.
22:40I talk this way to you because I love you, darling.
22:44The winner of Project Runway All Stars will receive the opportunity to design an exclusive line of jewelry for bobblebar.com, the final say in fashion jewelry.
22:54A capsule footwear collection by Chinese Laundry.
22:57A fashion spread in Marie Claire and a position at the magazine as contributing editor.
23:02From Brothers Sewing and Embroidery, a complete sewing studio to launch their line and to elevate their business and build their brand, a cash prize of $100,000.
23:17Hello, designers.
23:18Hi.
23:19Hi.
23:20Once upon a time, eight designers used fictional female characters to inspire modern runway looks.
23:27Let's meet tonight's judges.
23:29First, co-founder and designer of Marquesa, Georgina Chapman.
23:34Hi.
23:35Hi.
23:36Next, one of the most iconic names in American fashion, Isaac Mizrahi.
23:41Hi, little fairies.
23:42And our first guest exploded onto the music scene as a rapper, singer, and songwriter with a string of number one hits all across the globe.
23:54Please welcome multi-award winning artist, Kesha.
24:01Our next guest went from interning at Vogue to becoming one of Hollywood's hottest stylists.
24:06He's dressed stars such as Demi Moore, Jessica Alba, and Rashida Jones.
24:11He's now part of the notorious fashion police.
24:14It's Mr. Brad Goreski.
24:20Who will live happily ever after?
24:22Who will be banished from the runway?
24:25Have a great show.
24:36Yeah, she has tootsie rolling around London.
24:38I love my look.
24:40I think it looks very sophisticated.
24:42It's chic.
24:43She's fun.
24:44I love the surprise that you get in the back when she turns.
24:47I really liked what I did this week.
24:50I love that you can actually see it shimmer.
25:02She's beautiful.
25:03She's royal.
25:04She's romantic.
25:05I love it.
25:06She looks so pretty.
25:07That jacket is so badass.
25:25She looks awesome.
25:27The fabric is, like, catching all this light.
25:31And she looks, like, hardcore.
25:34And if they're gonna put me on the bottom for this, I don't care.
25:37I don't know if it's gonna be a little too simple for the judges, but honestly, the detail is in the tailoring.
25:58The way I mix the leather and that wool in those same lines, I'm very pleased in myself.
26:13Yes, mermaid girl.
26:17I do notice that there is some weirdness going on in the side seam of the skirt, but this look is glittering.
26:26It is so modern, I could not be happier.
26:29Oh, it's pretty.
26:40I think she looks like such a cool, modern take on Rapunzel.
26:44And I feel like my character has really come to life completely.
26:48And I love it.
26:49I'm proud of myself.
26:50I think the shift that I created in the front looks really cool.
27:10And then when she turns, the ruffle in the back really is that dramatic piece.
27:16I'm glad I really took that collar and put it on there, too, and added a little bit more.
27:20It really felt more like Alice.
27:35My favorite part of the dress is definitely when she's spinning around and you see, like, the fabric morphing together with the yellow.
27:43I think it's the perfect dress for Belle.
27:46Yes!
27:57Designers, thank you for a real fairytale runway.
28:00If I call your name, please step forward.
28:02Ken?
28:04Emily?
28:06You're both safe.
28:08And we'll see you next week.
28:10Thank you so much.
28:11You can leave the runway.
28:18The rest of you have the highest and lowest scores.
28:22One of you is the winner this week.
28:24And one of you will be going home tonight.
28:32We're going to start the critique with Keeney.
28:34So I got Alice.
28:36She's going to a denim tea party, but I wanted to make it a little different.
28:39So I wanted a sophisticated look in the front, party in the back.
28:43That's fabulous that it's denim.
28:45But the ruffle, it goes a little costumey for me.
28:48But I do love your idea.
28:50And I was so happy when this walked.
28:52It made me feel like I was actually at a fashion show.
28:55Ooh.
28:57I love the strictness that you have in the front and the playfulness at the back.
29:01I think the balance is really, really great.
29:03Can we see from the back?
29:06This is the definition of business in the front, party in the back.
29:10Like a fashion mullet.
29:11Yeah, exactly.
29:12You look like a present and like a whimsical, fun girl I want to like go to a tea party with.
29:19The collar, everything.
29:20I get fantasy.
29:21I get adventurous.
29:22I get that little girl quality that Alice in Wonderland had.
29:26Thank you very much.
29:27Sam, your critique is up next.
29:29So I got the Little Mermaid.
29:30She still loved the ocean, but she was like trying to like get this guy to notice her.
29:34So I wanted to incorporate that idea of like the netting with the like sparkle of different kinds on top.
29:40I like the modernity that you've bought to the Little Mermaid.
29:43Right.
29:44But it isn't quite executed well enough.
29:47Is that sleeve meant to be sort of strangely shorter than the other?
29:51Yeah.
29:52Is it?
29:53Well, it isn't quite enough if it is.
29:55If this is who you are as a designer, make it perfect.
29:58Make it a statement.
30:00I wish that the net wasn't so stark.
30:03It cheapens the design a little bit.
30:05I don't love the top.
30:06The top gives me junior a little bit.
30:08Yeah.
30:09Top tops.
30:10On Project Runway All Stars, to me, it's just like think again.
30:14I think the skirt is actually the star of this outfit and had the top even if it was in this shape and just like a plain cotton or something like that.
30:22That actually would have made it more modern.
30:24Okay.
30:25Hi, Liana.
30:26So my character is Belle.
30:28So the Beast decided to surprise her.
30:30They're going to go to Argentina to watch a polo match.
30:33And this is what she's going to wear.
30:35It almost is giving me a vintage vibe with like the cut of it.
30:38You lose me on the bottom.
30:39It's just too much going on with the yellow into the pleating.
30:43From your fantasy, what you just explained about polo matches in Argentina, this is the last thing I would think about wearing to that.
30:49That gives me PTA.
30:50I think it's that print that just sort of feels a little TJ Maxx or something like that.
30:55I think there could have been other exciting things to do with the character Belle.
31:01Asha, tell us about your fairytale character.
31:03So my client is Princess Rapunzel and her stepmother, the queen, is always getting on her for not dressing up enough.
31:10She can take all of her photos and do all of her press things with the skirt and then the skirt comes off and she's got her jumpsuit.
31:16It has a duality to it that I love with the strength of the pant and the flirtiness of the top.
31:21She looks fresh. She has a sense of regal about her.
31:25I think it's just the shine in the print just, to me, just doesn't look the most expensive.
31:31I have to disagree with you, Georgina. I really like the fabric here and the flat, darling, is just everything. Really, it's great.
31:39I like that you took a risk and I love the idea of the flat. I wish that it was a little dressier.
31:45I know, but I think that it looks fresh to me, like I would never expect that shoe ever.
31:50This feels to me like something you would wear with a sundress and St. Bart.
31:54I might have to wrestle Brad to the ground over a shoe.
31:58Obviously, we love it, Asha, so thank you.
32:01Thank you all.
32:02Alexander, hi.
32:03Well, I have Cinderella and I wanted to kind of modernize the gown, modernize the silhouette and bring it in and just basically make her now, but still in a beautiful gown.
32:13Cinderella is this young girl and she's so fresh into this world and this dress just feels so sophisticated and old to me.
32:22Can you do a little spin for us?
32:24It is the year of the booty and it's all about that shape and unfortunately it didn't pan out so well.
32:30The back of the dress is so off-putting and the neckline is so sort of like tacky.
32:36Oh, be nice.
32:37What? No, I'm trying to be. He's incredible. That's why I'm so, I mean, I don't talk this way to everybody. I talk this way to you because I love you darling.
32:45Oh, thank you.
32:46I don't know. Maybe it's just because I recently went bridesmaid's dress shopping. This kind of reminds me of like a bridesmaid's dress.
32:53Ouch.
32:54I just feel like this dress, it's just more beauty pageant to me than fairy tale or literature. Thank you, Alexander.
33:02Hi, Dom.
33:03So, I had the honor of having Tinkerbell and on the back I thought it'd be cool to play up that area on her back where her wings would be and give her kind of like these visual kind of negative space wings.
33:15The midriff has been such a big trend recently. I think the way that you're interpreting that is really extraordinary. I would take this from you right now and put it on one of my clients.
33:24I love a button up with like a pant. So, I was just obsessed when I saw this on the runway.
33:30Those pants are exceptionally well cut and it's bold and fresh and modern and just something totally out of the box.
33:38You detail your work. I mean, even down to the black and white ribbon that you put on the bottom of her wings.
33:44You would think that you don't want to see the other side of that fabric and so you kind of call our attention to it in the smartest way. Really, it's great.
33:52Thank you, designers. We have a lot of mixed reviews from the judges so we have a lot to discuss between us. Please take a seat in the backstage lounge and we'll call you back soon.
34:01Hi.
34:02Hey.
34:03So, as usual, I'm in the bottom.
34:04Oh.
34:05Actually, I got the worst review.
34:06I think I got the worst review.
34:07None of them liked it. It's not looking good for me.
34:08Or me.
34:09Or me.
34:10I was just like, kind of just confused by the feedback.
34:12Last week they downed you for not constructing it and they could see the hands sewing in it. And this week they did the same thing. So, I'm actually glad they finally saw that.
34:16Okay.
34:17Okay.
34:18Okay.
34:19Well, let's talk about our favorite looks. Let's talk about Keeney.
34:23So much fun. And so witty and smart. Just the idea that he just went for it and I want to see him.
34:29And this week they did the same thing, so I'm actually glad they finally saw that.
34:33Okay. Okay.
34:36Well, let's talk about our favorite looks. Let's talk about Keeney.
34:40So much fun and so witty and smart.
34:43Just the idea that he just went for it and had a good time with it, you have to applaud.
34:48Give me a white collar.
34:50Amen.
34:51There's nothing I like more than a white collar, especially on a girl named Alice, right?
34:55I thought it was really fun and it was adventurous, which I like.
34:58When people take risks, I can definitely respect that.
35:01There was the ruffle, the bow, the necklace.
35:03Just let us focus on the magic that you've created and we won't be worried about anything else.
35:11Let's talk about Asha. How beautiful did that train billow in the back?
35:16And the Rapunzel aspect, it did almost snake behind her like a braid and not a train.
35:21I mean, the image was evoked.
35:23I thought the cut was beautiful on the top.
35:26I really liked the width that she left at the shoulder.
35:29I really thought that balanced it perfectly.
35:31That neckline is one of the best necklines we've seen here, you know?
35:34And particularly since it's not all that sort of like woman thing with busty.
35:37I'm so sick of that, you know?
35:38Sick of what?
35:39No, nobody loves boobs more than me.
35:42I love boobies.
35:43No, I love boobies.
35:44I love boobies.
35:45But I just, I like the way this looks kind of like natural and relaxed and chic.
35:50Not forced.
35:51Not forced.
35:52I just think it's great.
35:53I feel like if you're going to do something that's so unexpected, I still wanted more.
35:58I loved Dom's interpretation of Tinkerbell.
36:02I felt it was the most confident and complete.
36:05There were just like these slight little details too with the mix of the prints and then you get that great little hint of skin on the front and the back.
36:13It's something you could just wear out to dinner and just look like the coolest girl in the room.
36:18But at the same time, it does look like you sort of went to like a sportswear department and threw that together.
36:25And let's move on to our least successful looks.
36:28Should we start with Alexander?
36:30It's just a design competition and there was nothing there to me that was designed.
36:35If you're going to go that simple, you better get it right.
36:38The dress was depressing.
36:40But the back of it, I was like, OMG.
36:44That was a huge problem.
36:46It looked like it was safety pinned up there.
36:48It was not.
36:49And no Cinderella in there either.
36:51Not an ounce of Cinderella.
36:52That doesn't say Cinderella to me.
36:54No, no, no, no, no.
36:55The evil stepmother.
36:58Let's talk about Liana.
37:00It's a lack of taste there.
37:01There's a taste issue going on with Liana.
37:04Those fabrics, every week she gives us these fabric color stories that are so jarring.
37:09Yeah.
37:10Too much taste.
37:11It's too much.
37:12It's so refined.
37:13So nothing.
37:14No, I don't think it's that.
37:15It was super boring to me.
37:16I kept really trying to find something nice to say about it, but I don't like it.
37:21It's pretty though.
37:22So it's hard for me to be like, oh, it's so terrible because it's a pretty dress.
37:25A pretty dress for a sail rack.
37:27Okay.
37:28Yeah, sorry, but that's fine.
37:29But some people love a sail.
37:30Let's talk about Sam.
37:31The way that he used the panels to hide and show the body was interesting, but somewhere
37:37in there, there's some panic.
37:39I just felt like he phoned it in this week.
37:40He did.
37:41In a serious way.
37:42And I was a little insulted by it.
37:43Kind of did really look like kindergarten sort of arts and crafts, but I think that's why
37:50I liked it because I haven't really seen anything like that before.
37:55I think we've made our decision.
37:58We know who's going home.
37:59Yes.
38:00Yeah.
38:01Let's bring him back out.
38:02Designers, one of you is the winner of this week's challenge.
38:09And one of you will be going home tonight.
38:16Kini, Dom, Asha, one of you is the winner.
38:27Kini, you are safe.
38:30You can leave the runway.
38:32Dom and Asha, one of you is the winner of this week's challenge and will live happily
38:41ever after.
38:44And that designer is...
38:47Asha.
38:48Oh, my God.
38:51Congratulations.
38:52Thank you so much for all of your feedback.
38:54And you did great too, Dom.
38:56Oh, thank you.
38:57Both of you ladies are safe and we will see you next week.
39:01It's so nice to meet you.
39:05You won?
39:06Who won?
39:07I won!
39:08I won!
39:11Thanks.
39:12That was a good time.
39:13It's just nice to bust your ass, get everything that you wanted to get done accomplished,
39:17take a risk, and be rewarded for it.
39:19So you got two wins now.
39:20Well first, let me say, it was an honor to even be up there with you guys.
39:25Oh no, ditto.
39:26I'm shocked.
39:28Congratulations.
39:30And now to the least successful designs.
39:37Sam, you had a low score but you are safe.
39:49Which leaves us Layana and Alexander.
39:53Layana, you were designing for Belle, a beautiful princess.
39:57And you gave her a dress that looked cheap and tasteless.
40:04Alexander, we wanted a modern look for Cinderella.
40:08And you gave us a dress that looked inexpensive and old.
40:14The designer eliminated tonight is...
40:24Alexander.
40:25Damn.
40:30That means Layana, you remain in the competition and you can leave the runway.
40:41Thank you for joining us on All Stars.
40:43I wish you all the best.
40:44Thank you, everyone.
40:46Thank you so much.
40:47Good luck.
40:48Season 12, Project Runway, when I was on it, my main critique was, oh, you're too costumey,
40:51you're too costumey.
40:52So I think the past two years, I've been really focusing on not being costumey.
40:56And I think I overcompensated this season.
41:01Hey.
41:02Bye.
41:03I don't want you.
41:04It wasn't a total surprise.
41:07This has been a great experience.
41:09I actually really liked being here.
41:11Good luck, everyone.
41:12You're all very talented.
41:13So are you.
41:14Bye.
41:15Bye.
41:16I've never really realized I design old, so I'm going to reevaluate that and just really
41:21kind of move forward from here.
41:26Next on Project Runway All Stars.
41:28Welcome to the home of the Brooklyn Cyclones.
41:31We want you to redefine athleisure wear.
41:34Sam is going to use mesh.
41:35I got mesh.
41:36Maybe I can show you how it's really done.
41:39I'm not that fond of my work and I'm very frustrated.
41:43Oh, my God.
41:44I'm done.
41:45That's not good.
41:47It's beautiful for a cocktail party.
41:52Okay.
41:53I would wear that to a game.
41:54This is athleisure for Georgina.
41:56This girl loves that dress, honey.
41:59Thank you, Miss Isaac.
42:00Mrs.
42:01Thanks.
42:02.
42:07.
