00:00Previously on Project Runway All Stars,
00:03we want to see you tackle post-apocalyptic fashion.
00:07Crafting a story in your head will give you some methodology.
00:10Oh!
00:11Woo!
00:12Oh my god, Ann, starting a fire.
00:14Maybe I should throw some furry earmuffs.
00:16You're kidding me, right?
00:23I really feel that fiction that you've created
00:26through this little sleeveless black dress.
00:29You created your own lace.
00:30You did a beautiful job.
00:31You blew it out and you don't know it,
00:34and that scares me a little bit.
00:35The winner is Anthony.
00:40This is a fashion competition and not a costume competition.
00:43It just looks like it got caught in a lawnmower.
00:46I think you've got too many ideas going on
00:49and I really think the headphones were a mistake.
00:51The designer eliminated is Kelly.
00:59It's so amazing to have a night out.
01:05This is like the fanciest restaurant in New York City.
01:07It is.
01:08Yeah.
01:09Alyssa arranged a dinner for us at the restaurant Danielle,
01:12and we're super excited because it's like fancy.
01:14We're all dressed up.
01:15Oh, wow.
01:16Oh, this is nice and fancy.
01:18I'm going to dress up.
01:21You want to sit with me?
01:22Sure.
01:23You mind if I sit here?
01:25Oh, will we be on a date tonight?
01:27Yes, we're on a date.
01:28The new lesbian couple.
01:29Oh, wow.
01:34Wow.
01:36Good evening, designers.
01:38We are honored to have an exclusive invitation
01:41to one of the world's most renowned fine dining experiences.
01:46I'd like to introduce Danielle's executive chef,
01:49Jean-Francois Bruel.
01:50Hello.
01:51And head sommelier, Raj Wadia.
01:54Hi.
01:55They are here to present you with a fine dining experience
01:58like no other.
01:59Each dish has been expertly paired with a perfect wine complement.
02:04Oh, my God.
02:05I love this.
02:06And as you sat down, you too have been paired.
02:13Your fellow designer is not just your dinner companion.
02:16They are your partner for this pairs challenge.
02:20To be honest, I was really scared because Ken is explosive
02:23and we know that I am not.
02:25Mylene has such a strong aesthetic and I have such a strong aesthetic.
02:29I'm hoping that they mesh instead of collide.
02:32Melissa's girl and my girl are complementary to each other.
02:35Her girl has a little bit more edge.
02:37Mine, maybe a little more classic.
02:40Your challenge is to design elegant looks that complement each other,
02:44inspired by either the dish or the wine in your pairing.
02:49The most successful pair of complementary looks will win the challenge.
02:54And both of you will return to Danielle on another night
02:57to experience a full five-star dining experience.
03:01Oh, wow.
03:02Yes.
03:03The least successful pair of designers will both be going home.
03:08Really?
03:09Really?
03:10Really, Alyssa?
03:11That's tough.
03:12A double elimination is so much scarier.
03:15You have a greater chance of going home.
03:17That's not good.
03:18Your complementary looks will walk the runway after one day in the workroom.
03:21So good luck, you guys, and bon appetit.
03:26Like we can eat right now.
03:27Shall we pray?
03:30So this is white asparagus from Provence.
03:32They finished this entree with a drizzle of balsamic vinegar,
03:36which is just like that punch that you need in an entree
03:39and really kind of in a garment.
03:41And to pair, we're going to do a Gruner Veltliner.
03:44It pairs very well with asparagus,
03:46which is very difficult to get.
03:47I think it's a good idea.
03:49It pairs very well with asparagus,
03:50which is very difficult to actually pair a wine with.
03:522011 vintage.
03:53So for this dish, you have Niemann ranch, lamb shop.
03:57I can't understand a damn thing he was saying,
03:59but sometimes when people have such a beautiful accent,
04:01you just listen.
04:02I love to pair a Syrah with lamb.
04:04Let's get to this meat king.
04:06He's acting like you've been somewhere.
04:08I've been a lot of places.
04:10That's how people act who have been somewhere.
04:12Don't give a damn.
04:13Black sea bass, baked slowly with yogurt, Chardonnay.
04:162013 vintage.
04:18How fun.
04:19Yeah, it looks delicious.
04:20Ooh, that's so beautiful.
04:21So this dish is a citrus-cured hamachi.
04:24It's fresh.
04:25But there's layers, right, to the hamachi?
04:27Mm-hmm.
04:28That's when thinking, like, texture and layers.
04:33Mmm.
04:34Is Niemann like a classy thing?
04:36Are you not supposed to Niemann?
04:37You can do that.
04:38That's fine.
04:40Mmm.
04:41Mmm.
04:42This is really good.
04:43This is really good.
04:44It's really good.
04:45This is amazing.
04:46I feel a little bit more inspired by the wine.
04:48I like the colors of the food.
04:50I'll take the food and you take the wine.
04:51Okay.
04:52Lovely.
04:53It's definitely flattering to the figure.
04:58And yours is too, correct?
04:59Mm-hmm.
05:00The hamachi is very bright and colorful.
05:03It has a lot of textures and patterns.
05:05So I am designing a top slash dress with an elegant pant.
05:12When I sip the wine, I feel happy and I feel like it's a really, like, bright day.
05:17So I immediately think cocktail dresses because I don't want to trap myself in, oh, elegant fancy means long dress.
05:27When I set my glass down, the legs on the wine glass drip down.
05:32I start thinking full-body draped pants.
05:36And at the top, organic, maybe flounces or ruffles.
05:40We got to make sure that, like, she looks like thick of red carpet.
05:43I felt like the plate was super light and then you had all these linear shapes on top of it.
05:48And so that's kind of how I wanted to have my dress like a light material in the bottom, but then have this heavy, linear shapes.
05:54I'm excited.
05:55To us.
05:56Cheers.
05:57Cheers.
05:58To winning.
06:0630 minutes, guys.
06:09Whoops.
06:10I sent a lot of pink on the runway last time.
06:12This is not a pink.
06:13This is more like a refined.
06:14A blush.
06:15Yeah.
06:16I'm inspired by the food because it had a lot of clean lines with the presentation of it.
06:19I'm designing a floor-length gown.
06:21It's going to have a plunging neckline and it's going to have these over-exaggerated hips to kind of create some 3D.
06:27This one is better, I feel.
06:29This Pinot Noir has a restrained lightness.
06:31So I am designing a very elegant cocktail dress paired with these very tailored pants.
06:37Can we get swatches of this one?
06:41Hurry!
06:42Kim!
06:43Anthony!
06:44Kim!
06:45Anthony!
06:46K-M!
06:47It's Kimberly and I against the world.
06:49I have one focus and it's to make sure that we excel in this challenge.
06:54I found this in case you wanted to put your jacket.
06:56The meal, because it was so colorful and so bold, I'm designing a long evening gown.
07:01We're going to put a paint detail through the waistline with some abstract cut velvet ribbons.
07:07Ooh, that's stunning.
07:09The wine is a Syrah and it's so bold and crisp.
07:13I immediately go to a jumpsuit with a jacket or a vest over it.
07:17Something really fresh, something really clean.
07:20Five minutes, guys!
07:21I'll be right back.
07:24You also have to be cohesive, so...
07:26That's what I'm saying.
07:27Like, I wanted a more modern pattern.
07:29I just think this neon is not right.
07:31I don't think that's neon right now.
07:32Yeah.
07:33We don't have time, so...
07:34I'm definitely pushing myself just with the colors alone.
07:37They're kind of scary, I'm not going to lie.
07:39I'm just trying to be a good team player.
07:41It doesn't have to match exactly.
07:43Okay.
07:44It has to just complement.
07:45That's time, guys!
07:46All right, move.
07:47We're going to hollage.
07:48All right.
07:57Do you think I should go with the pink underneath, or...?
08:02The pink is...
08:03I don't know.
08:04I thought you was going to do, like, a train.
08:06I was going to do a train, but I don't want it to look bright, man.
08:08Maybe I can put a zipper in, but maybe I'll just do hook and eye.
08:12Yeah.
08:13Dove elimination is nerve-wracking for me,
08:15because you don't want to have to stand before the judges,
08:18and they say, Kimberly, your look was amazing,
08:20but Anthony's look was terrible, so you both have to go home.
08:23For your pant, I almost feel like you should cut that crotch out,
08:27pin it, and just put it to the point before you cut your actual fabric.
08:30Working in a pair is not as easy.
08:32Their struggle is also your struggle,
08:34so if Melissa struggles, I have to help her through it.
08:37I like how flat this is.
08:39I feel like the body should be flat.
08:41I actually feel pretty confident.
08:43I can pick up the direction that I know Malene's going to go in.
08:47I know that I'm going to be able to do it.
08:49I know that I'm going to be able to do it.
08:52What if you layer it?
08:54Yeah, that's what I was going to do, but this is so, like,
08:56well, let me handle this now.
08:57You can do both.
08:58Actually, you know what?
08:59That's bull .
09:00I'm not quite sure where this is going.
09:04It's your architecture, but in a soft way.
09:09You know?
09:10Mm-hmm.
09:13You can't pair if you don't know what one or the other is yet.
09:17It doesn't work that way.
09:18So she's super, like, structured.
09:21I wanted to do, like, a...
09:23Watch the technique she's doing.
09:25They look a little sloppy.
09:26It's a tough competition.
09:28You can't slip up at this point.
09:30Like, you need to know what you're doing.
09:32I think I'm a band of this.
09:36Coming up on Project Runway All Stars...
09:38If one look is a little weak, you're both going home.
09:41No.
09:42You know what I'm talking about?
09:43Yeah.
09:44Okay.
09:45It's not gonna go well on the runway.
09:46How do I save this?
09:52It's your architecture, but in a soft way.
09:55I don't know why I chose this fabric, but I did.
09:58Now I'm trying to figure out, like, how can I put Merlene into this?
10:02It's already almost 4 o'clock, and I don't have pants.
10:06At this point, like, there's nothing really happening.
10:09Like, we're almost halfway into the work day,
10:11and I have, like, barely a pant, and she has barely a shape.
10:14And I make peace with myself at this point
10:17that we're gonna be in the bottom.
10:19Okay, Merlene, some of the best mistakes are the genius ones.
10:22That's true.
10:28Hi.
10:29Hi, designers.
10:30Hi, Anne.
10:31Hey.
10:32I heard you guys had a fantastic night out last night.
10:33Yes.
10:34Amazing.
10:35Sounds divine.
10:36But today is all back to work.
10:38And specifically, collaboration.
10:40Fashion is filled with great collaborators.
10:43Dolce & Gabbana, Mary-Kate and Ashley of The Row,
10:46and the creative directors of Valentino, Maria Grazia, and Pierre Paolo.
10:50So I'm really looking forward today to hearing how you're collaborating.
10:53Hi, Kimberly and Anthony.
10:54Hi, Anne.
10:55Tell me about your pairing.
10:56We had...
10:57The lamb chop.
10:59And I had a glass of Syrah.
11:00What we did take from the plate was the way they integrated the sauce,
11:04and we're kind of gonna do this painting technique that mirrors that.
11:07And the paint is gonna go all over this?
11:09God, no.
11:10Hey, I wouldn't do that to you or myself.
11:13I think the fashion-forward element of any gown really comes from the shape
11:17and the proportion and the cut.
11:19Maybe you guys should really sit down and talk about how the tops of your garments
11:22are gonna relate to each other.
11:23Okay.
11:24Good luck.
11:25We had this delicious hamachi.
11:27And then it paired really well with a Chablis wine.
11:30I have this really beautiful trim that I'm gonna be cutting apart.
11:33Where are these gonna go?
11:34Well, we've gotta cover all her.
11:36I'm interested to see how the beads are gonna cluster in this area.
11:39It sounds a little dangerous.
11:40I'm looking at Aria's design, and it's not my cup of tea or a cup of water or a cup of anything really.
11:46I'm doing somewhat of a draped v-neck silk top, and then this is gonna be the pant.
11:51I love this fabric.
11:52It could also go Florida pantsuit.
11:55No.
11:56You know what I'm talking about?
11:57Yeah.
11:58Okay.
11:59I had the lobster and carrot.
12:01Mmm.
12:02And it's paired with the Sancerre rose.
12:04Okay, so you've gone quite literal with your color choice.
12:06Mm-hmm.
12:07I love this fabric.
12:09It's really exciting.
12:11And I actually think that it's a nice pairing.
12:12Oh, wow.
12:13It'll be a four-month gown.
12:14Okay.
12:15Obviously, my inspiration was the wine.
12:16It's very pretty here.
12:20We had a Long Island sea bass.
12:22I think it was safest to stick with black and variations of black.
12:26Okay.
12:27Did you say safe?
12:28You said safest?
12:29It's not a word we really like to hear on Project Only All Stars.
12:32No, not safe.
12:33We had the Pennsylvania guinea hand, and for the wine, it's a Pinot Noir from Southern California.
12:37The presentation spoke to us.
12:39We like the lines and everything.
12:41So, Ken, is this the shape of it?
12:42Is this a dress?
12:43Are these pants?
12:44Yes.
12:45I am making the hips a little over-exaggerated.
12:48Fascinating.
12:49And this is underneath?
12:50Yes.
12:51Yes.
12:52That's great.
12:53And Fabio, what do we got here?
12:54That's a jumpsuit.
12:55And then over it, there is a dress.
12:58I really want the shape to kind of mimic what Ken is doing here with all the understructure.
13:02I think you've both got to amp it up a bit, but you're on the way.
13:06Okay.
13:07Really curious to see how it ends up on the runway.
13:08Awesome.
13:09We had the asparagus.
13:11So, I'm thinking like line shapes.
13:13Yeah, it's like an architectural garnish.
13:15Yeah.
13:16That's kind of like what I've been trying to figure out what kind of layering I want to
13:19do.
13:20Merlene is not a sewer.
13:21She doesn't do seams.
13:22She places things and she layers things.
13:24And in this challenge, it requires, you know, a fit and elegance.
13:27I think the way that she plays with shapes, I'm going to infuse that into my top.
13:32Don't fall into the trap of thinking, oh, we've got the same colors.
13:35We're fine.
13:36Because as you know, if one look is a little weak, you're both going home.
13:41Designers, I'm really thrilled to see you guys are all really working together.
13:44Push your partner creatively and allow your partner to push you creatively.
13:49Let's not forget the losing pair this week is going home.
13:53That's really a double elimination and none of you want that.
13:56Not at all.
13:57So, good luck.
13:59Why are you so damn clumsy?
14:11You're not even top hit, but why are you always following forward?
14:14I think they're cute.
14:16Oh, yeah.
14:17Super cute.
14:18Ann tells me that she doesn't want my pants to go Florida because that could be overly tacky.
14:24I don't know.
14:25I don't see it.
14:26Oh, my God.
14:27That's beautiful.
14:28Finally.
14:29Ann tells us that color is not enough for our garments to be complementary to each other.
14:34That really took me for a loop.
14:35If I don't finish this dress, we both are going down.
14:39I don't want to have to look to Candace and say, I'm so sorry that, like, it didn't work.
14:43If we don't go up, we're going up together.
14:45If we're going down, we're going down together.
14:47Hi, ladies.
14:48Hey, Rachel.
14:49Hi.
14:50How are you doing?
14:51How are you doing?
14:52It's gorgeous.
14:53My model fitting has never gotten better.
14:56This girl looks like she owns this jumpsuit.
14:58It actually makes me a little bit afraid to actually put the over skirt in it because it's so well done.
15:04I think my dress looks good.
15:06However, I realized that I needed to add something to elevate it a little bit more.
15:10So I decided to create this bustle to add the drama for the runway.
15:15Great job.
15:16It looks good on her skin, too, and her hair.
15:17Yeah.
15:18And this compliments her.
15:19I know.
15:20You look amazing in that color.
15:22I don't know what Helen and Edmund have.
15:25It looked like a tampon and blood.
15:27Like, right before they come together, that's what they look like individually.
15:31They're so incredible together.
15:32They really are.
15:36Okay, let me see.
15:38I have my pant for her to put on.
15:41And I have the direction of my top.
15:44It still needs so much work.
15:46My lean, I don't think, really has anything yet for the model to put on.
15:51Which is kind of disappointing because I really wanted to put them together.
15:58I think I should bring up the crotch more.
15:59Yeah.
16:00How much room?
16:01Like there?
16:02Yeah.
16:03Okay.
16:04The model fitting isn't going as well as we need it to.
16:06It's always a risk to design pants because we're changing models every week.
16:09And once you cut it and you fit it, like, you have no more fabric left.
16:14How do I save this?
16:15Good morning.
16:16Good morning.
16:17Thank you so much.
16:18See you tomorrow.
16:23Instead of killing myself for hours and hours trying to make something right that will never
16:28be right, I decided to scrap everything and start a new dress.
16:31I just scrapped my whole first look.
16:33I know Melissa's, like, panicking a little, but I need her to pull through this.
16:37She needs to just calm her thoughts.
16:38And I think that's what might get her in the end.
16:4130 minutes, guys.
16:42I love it.
16:43I do feel that my dress looks special.
16:44And I think the boldness of Kimberly's look will land us above the rest.
16:57But Ken and Fabio are working exceptionally well.
16:59I love the rhythm that they have.
17:01You bitches.
17:0215 minutes, guys.
17:07It cuts.
17:08Like, it's not a great transition.
17:10I still have to do, like, the underpinning of my coat.
17:14The hem of my pants still needs to be resolved.
17:17The waistband in the pant needs to be done.
17:19Just make sure you add a brown one or a brown flounce somewhere.
17:23I know that there's no conversation between Merlene and Candace.
17:27The outfits don't correlate.
17:29It's not going to go well on the runway.
17:31All right, guys.
17:32Time to go.
17:33All right.
17:34Let's hit it.
17:35Let's blow this popsicle stand.
17:38Coming up on Project Runway All Stars.
17:41Cover her goodies.
17:42I don't think I always look as elegant at all.
17:44I think it's borderline tacky.
17:47I can find love and beauty in Candace's look.
17:51Merlene, I think that there has been a set up.
18:04Oh, you again.
18:06She's dry.
18:07Hallelujah.
18:08And it looks good.
18:10Look at the black.
18:11Just come look and see how the black dry.
18:13Cover her goodies.
18:15This is heavy.
18:16It's the morning of the runway and I'm spending a lot of time in a brother's sewing room.
18:20Normally, I'm running around like a chicken with his head cut off.
18:23But at this point, I'm confident in what Fabio and myself are doing.
18:27I still have to do all of the finishing details and also add the bustle to the back of the dress.
18:33Hi, y'all.
18:34You look beautiful as usual.
18:35We're not doing a jumpsuit.
18:36What we're going to do is the jacket over the pants.
18:37Are they too big?
18:38Oh, .
18:39I realize there's stretching going on in the side.
18:40They have to get you out of this dress for any reason.
18:41Tell them to come get me.
18:42And I'm like, Lord Jesus.
18:43I don't have enough time to take the stretching out.
18:44I can only create a dart.
18:45Okay, that's fine.
18:46Okay, Melissa, you let me know when you need me.
18:47Melissa's a little nervous.
18:48She keeps saying like I have so much work to do.
18:49I was like, yes, you do, so just do it.
18:54I'm thinking here.
18:56Because it's a pair competition, like her look is just like a little bit of a scope of
19:03it.
19:04Like she's like, I'm hanging around the room.
19:05She's like, I'm hanging around.
19:06But I'm like, you know what you do?
19:07I'm like, if you're hanging around, this is not like I'm hanging around.
19:12But she's like, you know what you're saying?
19:13And what you're saying?
19:14Because it's a pair competition,
19:15like her look is just as important to me as my look.
19:18So I need her to pull through this.
19:20Pull in.
19:21Yes!
19:22It's cleaner, right?
19:23Yes!
19:25I'm just trying to be a good partner to Ari.
19:27So I'm like, do whatever you have to do to finish this dress.
19:30So pretty.
19:31Okay.
19:34So what can we do for you in Liberto hair salon?
19:36I'm thinking like a blunt bob,
19:38like as blunt and straight as you can get me.
19:41Maybe a part and did not take away from the flounces.
19:44So we use like the Liberto blow dry serum.
19:46We'll blow it through.
19:47We'll curl the hair and then we'll finish off
19:49with a super cold Liberto hairspray.
19:52Sounds beautiful.
19:56Welcome to the Rodeal glam room.
19:57So tell me about your look.
19:59I want to do a bow with the lip.
20:00Rodeal has a gorgeous lip color.
20:02It's called revenge.
20:03Okay.
20:04Really pretty, but bold.
20:06Perfect.
20:09Maybe add some eyelashes for her.
20:10We're going to use the Rodeal glamor lash.
20:12Yes.
20:13Which is gorgeous.
20:14I'm excited.
20:15Thank you. I'm excited too.
20:22Works really well.
20:23And the ring looks really good too.
20:24From the intermix accessory wall,
20:26pulled a pair of gold earrings.
20:28Because my dress was so simple,
20:30it just created a really nice backdrop for all the gold.
20:33Let's go pin it up.
20:34This is getting dirty.
20:35I love Stanley's dress.
20:36I love the color of it.
20:37I love that it's young and that it's happy.
20:41I think our hands should be in her pockets.
20:43Yeah, no, that hand's in the pockets.
20:45I feel like our designs complement each other
20:46because we really had a clear vision
20:48of who these girls are.
20:50Gorgeous.
20:52Five minutes, guys.
20:57Yeah?
20:58You might as well practice walking in it.
20:59It's going to get dirty anyway.
21:01I don't think Ari's look is elegant at all.
21:03It's with the cut out and the sheer.
21:05I think it's a borderline tacky.
21:07I think they look beautiful together.
21:10Kimberly's look is cool, it's chic,
21:12but it seemed almost like an afterthought.
21:15I mean, it's really easy to cut a square
21:17and put arm holes in it.
21:20Did you want to see them together?
21:22Not yet?
21:23OK.
21:23Work, work, work, work, work.
21:26I can find love and beauty in Candace's look.
21:29Meleen, I think somebody has fooled her
21:33into thinking that poor construction would just
21:35be OK in this competition.
21:37I'm going to cut this.
21:40This runway could be a disaster.
21:42I just don't like how I finished the design.
21:46And so that right there is weighing on me.
21:48Sorry.
21:50Time, guys.
21:52All right, let's go.
21:54So good.
21:55Beautiful.
21:56Bye.
22:00Coming up on Project Runway All-Stars.
22:02The hem on these pants is unacceptable.
22:05It looks like I put it together.
22:07Your dress is bordering to Slotty.
22:12The winner of Project Runway All-Stars will receive a fashion
22:15spread of Marie Claire and a position at the magazine
22:18as contributing editor.
22:19An inspiring trip for two to fashion capital London, England,
22:23and luxurious skincare and makeup for their debut show and beyond,
22:27all provided by Rodial.
22:29From Intermix, accessories and styling services to enhance
22:33their next collection, from Brother Sewing and Embroidery, a
22:36complete sewing and crafting studio to launch their line.
22:39And to elevate their business and build their brand, a cash prize of $100,000.
22:44Hello, designers.
22:46So this week you worked in pairs to create looks inspired by exquisite food and wine pairings.
23:00Let's meet tonight's judges.
23:02First, co-founder and designer of luxury brand Marquesa, Georgina Chapman.
23:07Hello.
23:08Next, one of the most iconic names in American fashion, Isaac Mizrahi.
23:13Hi, kids.
23:14And our guest judge is one of a very few entertainers to be known as an EGOT,
23:20meaning her many awards include an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony.
23:26She uses her fame to help a variety of causes.
23:30But when it comes to fashion, her greatest obsession is with her collection of killer shoes.
23:39Please welcome to Project Runway All-Star's Whoopi Goldberg.
23:47The designers in this week's least successful pairing will both be eliminated.
23:53So the stakes could not be higher.
23:55Have a great show.
23:56Cheers.
23:57I think they're going to respond really well to my look because it represents the dish
24:10without being so literal.
24:22I know what I made.
24:23I'm proud of.
24:24And I'm just hoping that the judges respond well to that.
24:27We look good together.
24:29We look good together.
24:30I'm extremely proud of the way that this look has turned out.
24:48It's really sexy and edgy.
24:50And really, that's who I am.
24:55I like that we're one of the only groups using black.
25:02But I'm a little nervous that I'm not giving them something different enough.
25:09To me, it's obvious they're a pair.
25:21The reflection of the bead off the metallic brocade really tells a sweet story.
25:25I truly love my dress.
25:31Our combined looks look great together.
25:33I think under the lights and on the runway, they really come to life.
25:38I think the judges will love my look.
25:39I think it's very elegant and I think it's strong and confident.
25:53I think the judges are going to react very well to the pairing, but I don't know what
25:56they're going to think about my hip moment.
25:58It could be a hit or a miss.
26:00Can and my design next to each other, they're strong individually, but they're stronger together.
26:08These looks are incredible.
26:11I am really taken by my design this week.
26:14I'm just so impressed.
26:15And I feel like it's such a good feeling to be impressed about what you can actually accomplish.
26:20I love my design and status.
26:30I love the way I think.
26:31I just not, I'm not really confident about this look coming down the runway.
26:35I am worried that we're both going to go home.
26:38I just know that we're going to be in the bottom.
26:49It's not because hers is bad or mine is terrible.
26:52It's just because they don't pair and that was the challenge.
26:55They needed to pair.
27:08I'm loving how the dress is moving.
27:10I'm loving how the color is popping off of her beautiful chocolate skin.
27:15I'm proud of my design.
27:17Looking at both of our designs together, I think they look really good.
27:23Do I think we'll be top two?
27:26Maybe not.
27:27Do I think we'll be safe?
27:28Yes.
27:29It's a beautiful dress.
27:30It's a beautiful color.
27:31I'm really proud of my design.
27:33It looks absolutely stunning.
27:47I am so proud of my dress.
27:49Damn, Jackson Pollock.
27:50I know, exactly.
27:52I feel confident that Kimberly and I have a top look simply because you can clearly see a story being told.
28:01We have something really fresh, something really clean.
28:11I don't know what the others are thinking about our looks, but they should be worried.
28:18If I call your pair's names, please step forward.
28:33Joshua and Amanda.
28:35Char and Stanley.
28:39Edmund and Helen.
28:41Your pairings have kept you in the competition, and we will see you next week.
28:51You can leave the runway.
28:56Designers, one of these pairs is the winner of this week's challenge.
29:00And one of these pairs will be eliminated, meaning two designers will be going home tonight.
29:11Anthony and Kimberly, let's start with your critique first.
29:15We had lamb chops.
29:16The plate had sauce, kind of swished around on the plate and all.
29:20I don't know, it was just really, really nice.
29:22So I had a 2011 Syrah, which was very bold, and so that was where I went in terms of my inspiration and my design.
29:31Kimberly, you had the African wine, right?
29:33To me, there was a little tribal thing going on with the design.
29:37I like the boldness of color. I find it edging on a little bit frumpy.
29:42You know, it looks like it's one size . Like that would be the size maybe I would wear.
29:48It just looks like that's a four on a size two, you know?
29:52My shape changes every couple of months. I've put on or taken off 105 pounds.
29:57So I know that if I put this on, I could wear it no matter what size I am and still look good.
30:05I don't know how you get like blue from lamb chops and red wine, but who cares because you killed it this week, I think.
30:12Anthony, I think you're getting very good with this use of color on a very simple silhouette.
30:16But I say simple and then you've got this wonderful drape at the back, which feels very light.
30:21Is it supposed to be out this far?
30:23Yes. Making sure the dress tells a story, a different story from every angle.
30:27I was at the Oscars. And when you're on those red carpets, people hit your dress.
30:34And you start at the top of the red carpet and your thing is out and you're looking fly. And by the time you get there, it's like this.
30:41So this is one of those pieces where you just wish you could wear it.
30:45I do think, yes, you're onto something. And I hope you get that this is really great.
30:50I do this week.
30:51Okay.
30:52Marlene and Candace, you guys are next.
30:54I had asparagus with nuts and watercress. So I really wanted to do like an abstract representation of the food.
31:03And Candace, tell us about your wine inspiration.
31:05What I love most was when I set the glass down, the legs on the glass were very organic and something felt extremely regal about the whole entire atmosphere.
31:15The last thing I would think seeing those two ensembles together would be asparagus. I would think immediately mushroom.
31:22Your girls actually do go together. I see that they're pairing. I just, Marlene, I'm upset with you this week.
31:31I know who you are.
31:32I am upset. I love the idea of this crinoline with these geometric placements on top. However, it's so imprecisely done that it's just very bothersome to look at.
31:48Both pieces are very theatrical. I was on Star Trek, so that's what I'm seeing when I look.
31:52Yes, I see you.
31:53I kind of really dig it. And I love the color of these pants. I love this color. I could never get away with the top, but the top is cute.
32:02When you sent her down the runway, Candace, were the hems better?
32:06I keep pulling on it, and it's wanting to, like, shrink.
32:10Yeah, because the hem on these pants is unacceptable.
32:13Thank you, Marlene, and thank you, Candace.
32:17Melissa and Ari, the dish itself was very textured, layered, and colorful, so I wanted to create a look that represented these kind of layers and the bright textures that exuded from the dish itself.
32:28The wine that it was paired with was a Chablis, and it was vibrant. It was still light and sensual, which played very well with a lot of the citrus that was in the dish.
32:36To me, these are two very different girls. Bless your dress just felt, it felt, it didn't feel anything. For a design competition, it just wasn't enough.
32:47It looks like I put it together, do you know what I mean? Because I'm the kind of person who would put on sort of a boxy top and just try to put a belt over it.
32:56That's not what I was trying to do.
32:58Melissa, there's weird pleating going on under the armpits.
33:01Well, it comes like this. Like, it could probably, if I had a couple more.
33:05Yeah, look at that. That's so beautiful.
33:08And then with Ari, your dress, I really have an issue when a belly button is just there on display, where you're talking about sensual, but it's bordering to slutty.
33:18Okay.
33:19I didn't love the front, but I loved the back because it was like, I was here, you know? That's how it felt like when she was walking. I was here. That's the message I got from the back.
33:30I love the back. If the front was just plain white and you had that little peekaboo thing at the back, it would have been a divine dress.
33:37Thank you, ladies.
33:39Ken and Fabio, your final pair.
33:41I had guinea hen, egg, and spinach.
33:44I was basically struck by the presentation, so I wanted to play with the lines and everything on how the food was actually presented to us.
33:51When the sommelier was explaining about the wine, he used this phrase, restrained lightness, to explain how the wine tasted.
33:58So I wanted to play with this idea, and I went with the jumpsuit and this airy skirt, but out of a very heavy machine lace.
34:06I like your pairing, especially because it felt like a pairing, whereas a lot of the other groups didn't feel like they were necessarily related.
34:14Here's why I love them. Different size women can pull both of these pieces off without feeling like, oh, I shouldn't have this on.
34:22And I just saw all my granddaughters in both these pieces because it just felt like this is for people to wear. I liked it a lot. Thank you.
34:33I love the idea of this lace over the pant. I like the way that it picks up the color of your dress, Ken, and I think you've done an exquisite job with your draping.
34:42The only critique I would have at the back of the dress is I don't love the slit that just threw my eye a little bit.
34:49I love the way Fabio's fits. It kind of is just easy, and I love the sculpture of yours. There's an architecture to it and a grandeur to it.
35:00I cannot believe that I gave you this challenge reveal, and you guys came up with this. An unbelievable job, so thank you for your work.
35:07Thank you so much.
35:08The judges and I have a lot to discuss, so we will deliberate and call you back later. Thank you.
35:19Hey.
35:20All right, who's in the top? Ken and Fabio for the win.
35:24No, I think it's even.
35:26Oh, they were kind.
35:27So the rest of us were in the bottom?
35:28Yes.
35:29For you to be next, like, on the bottom with me was a shocking for me, you know?
35:33I just didn't get it.
35:34At least they got your ideas, you know?
35:36And it's hard. Like, two people are leaving.
35:40So we had some perfect pairings and some not-so-perfect pairings.
35:45I want to start with Anthony and Kimberly.
35:47I'm so thrilled with Anthony so far in this season.
35:50The way he has with fabrications is looking so far very promising.
35:55Every single week, he seems to grow.
35:57I think that he's finding himself, which is so lovely.
36:00Also, the pairing is quite good, don't you think?
36:02The lines are simpatico.
36:05I loved these because, you know, while not everybody can wear that gorgeous dress,
36:10it's one you can dream about wearing.
36:12But the blue piece?
36:13I could wear that tomorrow.
36:15I am less keen on Kimberly's look.
36:18There was a lot of that blue, and I found that became very heavy.
36:22The proportions on that pantsuit were, like, off.
36:25The other successful pairing, Fabio and Ken.
36:31I just think they did a really wonderful job.
36:34Yeah, this was a great example, too, of pairing but not having it be too on the nose.
36:39You know, there was an ease to Fabio's look.
36:42And to take that sort of gray lace and make it something that floats is really, really great.
36:47And then the one thing we never spoke about, about Ken's, I love this sort of funny, like, the points that he created on the hips.
36:54Me too.
36:55That was fabulous.
36:56I really enjoyed that.
36:57Me too.
36:58Are they good?
36:59Me too.
37:00A lot.
37:01Me too.
37:02Okay, so let's talk about the least successful pairings.
37:06I guess we should start with Ari and Melissa.
37:09Ari is a very competent dressmaker.
37:12I'm just worried that is she the most forward-thinking.
37:15I like the back.
37:17I wanted to wear that.
37:18That whole color story with that pink pearl on the new with the sort of off-white on the side was very, very strange.
37:25And Melissa's too.
37:27Me too.
37:28I can't think what she was thinking with this.
37:30The tiniest, littlest change on that dress from Melissa.
37:34And she would have been safe.
37:35But there was something about it that went very dowdy.
37:41Okay, so let's talk about Marilyn and Candace.
37:45I have to say, how does Marilyn send down a look where you can see the crotch?
37:49I don't mind seeing a crotch.
37:51What I mind is calling attention to a crotch the way Ari did.
37:56I think Marilyn, you know, she's examining where she's going as a designer with the architecture.
38:00Today was unforgivable.
38:02And if I see that from her again, I'm going to lose belief.
38:05Boom. Out.
38:06I really am. I'm done.
38:07And Candace's pants.
38:08I don't know what was happening there, but that top was so pretty.
38:11It was honestly one of my favorite things.
38:13So we're all in agreement?
38:18Okay, let's bring them back out.
38:26Designers, one of these pairs is the winner of this week's challenge.
38:30And one of these pairs will be eliminated.
38:33Meaning two designers will be going home tonight.
38:36Ken and Fabio, Anthony and Kimberly, you were the top scoring pairs.
38:50And two of you are the joint winners of this week's challenge.
38:54So who will be enjoying their exclusive dining experience at Restaurant Danielle?
38:59The winning pair of designers is...
39:06Whoopi, would you like to do the honors?
39:08Sure.
39:09Okay.
39:11Ken and Fabio.
39:15We won because the pairing up the colors is stunning.
39:19The bobs, the presentation, everything is on point.
39:22Congratulations, boys.
39:24Thank you. You can leave the runway.
39:26Finally, a win. Come on, like third week in.
39:29Now I'm in the judges' good graces.
39:31So I'm feeling confident.
39:33Now who's taking who on the date to Danielle?
39:38And now to the least successful pairs.
39:40Marlene and Candice, we appreciate how you both think as designers.
39:45But your execution this week was very disappointing.
39:50Melissa and Ari, you really missed the mark from a design perspective.
39:54And your looks did not work as a pairing at all.
40:00The pair of designers eliminated tonight is...
40:12Melissa and Ari.
40:13That means Marlene and Candice, we will see you next week.
40:24Melissa and Ari, thank you both so much for joining us on All Stars.
40:28Would have loved to have shown you more.
40:33Bye.
40:37Thank you very, very much.
40:38It sucks to go home today.
40:39But I'm just so thankful that I got this chance that I didn't even expect I'd get to come back.
40:49I mean, it just feels awful to have to leave with Ari.
40:53We really worked hard.
40:54And we really tried to create this harmony together.
40:57Which we thought we did.
40:59Bye, y'all.
41:00Bye.
41:01Bye.
41:02Bye.
41:03Beautiful.
41:04I wish that I would have been able to show more.
41:06I wish that I would have been able to go to the end.
41:08I feel like I'm disappointed in myself, but I also feel that I did what I could in the time I had.
41:23Next, on Project Runway All Stars.
41:26You'll be visiting and touring a castle.
41:29I'm cutting it.
41:31Seriously?
41:32What in gay hell is this?
41:34This is the unconventional challenge.
41:36I hate this so much!
41:38A lot of you didn't grab enough balls.
41:45You didn't want a sagging ass.
41:47Ass.
41:48I just felt like it'd be a cop-out to just, like, hot glue to muslin'.
41:53You undermined everybody else to make yourself look better.
41:55Like, why would I do that?
41:57Is that a drama that's taking place backstage?
42:06Because if we don't show up, we'll be watching this in just a moment.
42:07We are all over here waiting for you!
42:08Look out to…
42:10Yeah!
42:11…you'reate.
42:12The aquarium's all可愛ues, all these is just awesome.
42:15We would beворced for you to try because a Wenka, you know, maybe its beautiful athlete.
42:17There's what we have THEM dialoguing team though.
42:19And there's no way, the some of the challenges leave themselves.
