00:01Previously on Project Runway All-Stars...
00:03Welcome to Broadway.
00:05We want you to invent something
00:07never seen before in fashion.
00:09This is an avant-garde challenge.
00:14That's a lot of something.
00:16You're right.
00:17Girl, what are you doing? Building a new house?
00:19I'm kind of creating a dry erase jacket.
00:21Oh my God, that's so cool.
00:23So the invention is the apron you can wear many ways?
00:25Yes.
00:26Your invention does not sound like something we've never seen before.
00:29I have two hours to make a look.
00:31I'm doing a Hail Mary.
00:32I think I'm going home this week.
00:36It is smart, totally innovative, and super functional.
00:39It really is graphic.
00:41She's stunning.
00:42One of you is about to become five grand richer.
00:44And that designer is Anthony Ryan.
00:47I'm like honestly a little angry.
00:49This was the week I was expecting you to go hog wild.
00:53I just didn't get the avant-garde from this.
00:56The eliminated designer is Jenga.
00:59This is Project Runway All Stars.
01:03Ooh, JCPenney. I grew up shopping here.
01:12Last week I was in the top and have been in the top the past couple challenges,
01:16and I just don't want to think about it too much because every challenge is a new challenge.
01:21Good morning, designers.
01:23Good morning.
01:24Right now there's only eight designers left in the competition,
01:28and only three international designers.
01:30Everyone being winners, there's no real kind of like weak link in the chain.
01:36Everyone's really good.
01:38Two months in, eight of you left.
01:41We really have the best of the best right now.
01:44As you know, JCPenney is our retail partner this season.
01:48And this is JCPenney's design director of contemporary brands, Monica Dalton.
01:53Hi.
01:54Hi, designers.
01:55We're proud to be working with Project Runway All Stars,
01:58and especially with you as season winners from around the world.
02:01This week we want you to check out one of our most popular stores as a part of a JCPenney challenge.
02:08But being all stars, this is of course no ordinary shopping spree.
02:14You will shop for three different daytime separates and transform them into one sensational nighttime look.
02:23There are eight live mannequins on display around the store.
02:28They are wearing two out of your three separates.
02:32When you find one that has two of the separates that you want to use,
02:36you should claim them as your model, and then you'll get to shop for your third separate.
02:42All the material from your nighttime look must come from the daytime separates that you choose.
02:49What?
02:50In middle school, I would take thrift clothes and tear them apart and turn them into something new.
02:55So this is something I've done before.
02:58A garment inspired by the winning design will be produced and sold immediately after the runway on JCPenney.com.
03:04And the winning designer will also get a real JCPenney shopping spree with a gift card of $2,000.
03:10Oh, wow.
03:11That's good, huh?
03:12Yeah.
03:13Your sensational nighttime look will be revealed on the runway tomorrow.
03:18So designers, are you ready to go fabric hunting?
03:21Yes.
03:22Good luck!
03:23And get shopping!
03:25Hey!
03:26Where do we go?
03:27Just look for the live models!
03:29I'm running around like a sucker.
03:33Like it's just madness.
03:36Yay!
03:37Yay!
03:38This is so messy!
03:39We're on a cloth!
03:40Whoa, girl!
03:41Got you!
03:42All right, darling.
03:43I'm picking the model over the clothes because I know how she walks and I know how she wears clothing.
03:52Oh, we got denim and white.
03:55We'll see how it goes.
03:57Oh, you're with me, girl.
03:58Let's do this.
03:59No, girl.
04:00I ain't picking out that model.
04:01I'm picking out the garments.
04:02The garment is the main thing.
04:04Why are you picking a model to say, okay, I like you?
04:07You got to pick the fabric first.
04:10Separates.
04:11Oh, my God.
04:13It's like so out of my comfort zone.
04:17It's not an easy challenge because in today's world, the nighttime and daytime, there is a thin line.
04:23So I'm having a really tough time finding things.
04:26Ah, this is really difficult.
04:28Right?
04:29My model is wearing jeans and a paisley printed blouse.
04:35The first thing that I go to for my third item is a white blazer.
04:39Something that has structure because I like to work with tailoring.
04:43Separates, separates, separates.
04:46I'm looking for my third piece and I can't find the separate.
04:49Nothing's clicking with this blue heavy denim and this bright white.
04:54Oh, my gosh, Veronica, this is so hard.
04:57The denim with the skirt is not something I would have chosen.
05:02Five minutes, guys.
05:04Five minutes left to shop.
05:06I think I pulled a muscle.
05:08The orange is more of a pop.
05:10Oh, this could be perfect.
05:12This is gonna be interesting.
05:15I find a pair of pants.
05:17It's almost like a jacquard and have a little bit of shine.
05:21And when I look everything together, I think that can be really good.
05:25Oh, this is gonna be fun.
05:26This will be nice.
05:27Yeah.
05:28With this, too.
05:29It's time, guys.
05:30Let's go and skate.
05:31Bye.
05:32Bye.
05:33Bye.
05:34Where's your girl going?
05:38I'm at the gay disco.
05:39I don't know where you at, boo.
05:41This is all probably gonna change in proportions.
05:44I'm gonna make a very dramatic, long evening gown.
05:48It may turn into a jumper.
05:50I've been in the top twice.
05:52I'm pretty much ready to have a win.
05:55And this isn't the first time I've taken clothes apart to make a collection.
05:58Come on.
06:02I think I'm gonna use this side.
06:05Oh, nice.
06:06Because this is too dark.
06:07Yeah.
06:08I'm sketching kind of a t-shirt-shaped frock.
06:11And a longer sleeve, maybe three-quarter, that I'm going to do some techniques with cutting
06:17out shapes and adding them.
06:20We'll see.
06:21I think these materials are gonna be difficult to work with.
06:24She's going to Coachella.
06:26Well, this is the thing with this fabric.
06:29I've gotta be really careful what I do with it.
06:31Yeah.
06:32The most challenging thing here is to look at the garment and see what elements are
06:36that garment you need before you start tearing it to pieces.
06:39I'm making a tailored dress jacket with a skirt underneath.
06:44I'm not really sure what the style's gonna be.
06:47It's a really difficult one.
06:49John's got good fabrics.
06:50Girl, he better do something amazing because he got the best fabrics.
06:53Agreed.
06:54I have a lot of this poly chiffon crepe-feeling fabric, so it's quite drapey and flowy.
07:01I'm making a dress with different tiers.
07:04It's more like evening in a tropical location.
07:08Because my prints are just so loud, it's kind of, I'm just embracing them.
07:13All right, guys.
07:14It's time to go to the workroom.
07:17Thank you, JC.
07:21Woo-hoo.
07:22Woo-hoo.
07:28Woo-hoo.
07:29Oh, so much space.
07:31I know.
07:32We could spread our wings.
07:38I was thinking about to make a vest with this one and a dress with this one.
07:43But when I put everything together here, I don't even like too much.
07:48Print is not something that I really love, but I have this fabric and I need to make it work.
07:55I love the blues.
07:57Yeah, it's really beautiful.
07:58I'm planning to do some oversized vest and some mini dress inside to be my complete look.
08:06But I'm not sure if I will have fabric enough to do the vest.
08:10Oh, yeah.
08:11Big puffy sleeve?
08:12Yeah.
08:13I'm making this sort of full sleeve orange dress and I'm really using the center front of the shirt as a slit.
08:27And I'm using the collar as sort of like pleating details.
08:31Oh, that's fabulous.
08:33What are you going to do?
08:35I'm doing a long, dramatic, away from the body gown.
08:40Mm-hmm.
08:41I'm going to do some blocking.
08:42Good stuff.
08:43We'll see.
08:44How are you doing?
08:45Not great.
08:48What's not great?
08:50As a person who likes to pattern make, I always start on paper.
08:54And I guess for me to start with the pre-existing garment and then like kind of drape it.
09:02I don't know.
09:03It's a very different process.
09:05It's just, you know, not elevated.
09:10Well, elevated.
09:11I don't know.
09:12Any good designer should be able to take a daytime separate and make it a nighttime look.
09:16If you can't do that, like, go home.
09:18What are you making?
09:19I don't know yet.
09:20There's only eight designers left in the competition now and I'm starting to really feel the pressure.
09:27It's because I don't drape.
09:29That's the problem.
09:30I don't know what I'm going to do.
09:34Coming up on Project Runway All Stars.
09:37You're in trouble if you're making a jacket out of a jacket.
09:40All of a sudden everyone's talking around me and I cannot focus.
09:44Be respectful to other people who have work to do.
09:50I'm changing my idea.
09:51It's still super early.
09:53Oh, not really.
09:55I'm not usually this indecisive.
09:57Ever.
09:58We're getting there.
09:59But I don't know, I have like this kind of sexy hippie vibe happening in my head.
10:04I go back to what I was thinking previously.
10:06You know, who's my girl?
10:08I'm thinking of a rooftop bar in Melbourne, you know, where my friends go.
10:11And that's my inspiration.
10:13So fast.
10:14You guys keep saying that.
10:15You've got to channel your inner Anya.
10:16I know.
10:17I'm like, Anya, where are you?
10:18I know, right?
10:19She would just be like, here.
10:20Boop, boop.
10:21Yep.
10:22Hi designers.
10:23Hi.
10:24So I don't think in the History Project Runway we've ever gone shopping for clothes to then
10:40turn into fabric to make into new clothes.
10:43Also, turning a daytime look into a nighttime look is going to be very tricky.
10:49So I'm really interested to see how you're doing.
10:51Hi Cynthia.
10:52Hi Anne.
10:53It's going to be a long bust.
10:55I'm thinking about a mini dress inside.
10:58I feel that for a nighttime, something shorter inside would be better to be more feminine.
11:05Okay, so it's going to be a mini dress in either light blue or this busy fabric.
11:09Yeah.
11:10With a vest over it.
11:11Yeah.
11:12Okay, now what about that says nighttime to you?
11:15Cynthia's look is so strange.
11:16She is working so hard on this vest, but it's just like this 9 to 5 kind of work day outfit.
11:22She's almost a cocoon shape, and I think when she's walking it's going to open up.
11:26And I think there's just something really clean because it's about mixing these fabrics.
11:29And so you'll get all that, but then she'll turn around and you just get this like kind of cleanse of the palette.
11:34This is a great fabric that you chose for evening, but clean, simple, cleansing the palette just doesn't make a huge impression on the runway.
11:41Right.
11:42I'm just not sure that this look is going to blow them away.
11:45Right.
11:46I've been having a little internal battle with myself.
11:49What's the internal battle about?
11:50Oh, just like the balance of prints.
11:53It's really bold.
11:54It has the potential to be incredibly fashion forward.
11:57Okay.
11:58Or it could be a hot mess.
11:59Yeah.
12:00I really like Sean, and I think he's young and vibrant.
12:05But for this dress, I don't know how can you go from young and vibrant to like so generic.
12:10Just be judicious in how you mix them.
12:13Okay, I will.
12:14Thanks, Anne.
12:15Good luck, Sean.
12:16Okay.
12:17At this point, Dimitri, I have accepted that you are always going to do ruffles and zigzags, right?
12:21You can make a ruffle out of almost anything.
12:23Uh, true.
12:25This looks great.
12:26Very Dimitri.
12:27It's very on trend.
12:28It looks very bohemian.
12:30I'm worried about the green jeans.
12:31Me too.
12:33Anthony, Ryan, are you making another blue jumpsuit?
12:36No!
12:37Okay.
12:38It's actually going to be a dress.
12:41You know you have to use all three of these garments, right?
12:43Yes.
12:44It just looks still like something that would be great to wear to work.
12:47Okay.
12:48I just want you to give it some pizzazz.
12:49Okay.
12:50These were shirts?
12:51Shirts, yeah.
12:52So I sort of use them as, I use the details of this shirt.
12:56Amazing.
12:57And you know, you can button it up or down.
12:59I love that you can actually see elements of the garments that you chose.
13:03That you're not totally hiding.
13:04That it's an upcycled look.
13:06This might be one of my favorite looks you've done.
13:08You got a cool fabric.
13:10Yeah.
13:11Was this the one that you chose?
13:12Yeah, it was.
13:13And I chose the fabric because if she's going to go out in the evening, you've got denim and then a white.
13:18It needs some sparkle.
13:19It needs some glitz.
13:20We all need some sparkle.
13:21Yeah.
13:22It needs some texture too.
13:23All right.
13:24My real comment to you is just don't cover up all this silver.
13:26No, the silver's great.
13:27I love it.
13:28Just get creative with that denim.
13:29Yeah.
13:30She's worried about my denim.
13:31I'm worried about the denim.
13:32I have to incorporate it.
13:34I don't know what I'm going to do.
13:37I was hoping to finish my pants first and then have a think about the outerwear garment that I want to go with it.
13:44It is a really tricky challenge for me to be honest.
13:46Like this is the biggest challenge I've had.
13:49Well, if this was originally a jacket, I think you're in trouble if you're making a jacket out of a jacket.
13:53Yeah.
13:54Right?
13:55It's just not enough of a change and there's a lot of real transformation going on around you.
13:58Yeah.
13:59So when you say you want to have a think, I think you better have that think very soon.
14:04Very fast.
14:05Yes.
14:06Thanks.
14:07Designers, you've all done a really good job deconstructing your original garments.
14:12But the challenge was to turn daytime separates into a nighttime look.
14:17And I know that's really tough.
14:19And looking at the clock, we're getting into evening now.
14:22So you really need to elevate these looks for nighttime.
14:25I've got my fingers crossed for all of you.
14:27Get to work and good luck.
14:29Thanks, Erin.
14:30Thanks, Erin.
14:31Okay.
14:36I'm making a denim jacket.
14:37Ann says to me that I can't make a jacket out of another jacket.
14:46And I need to listen to her.
14:47And I ditch the jacket that I'm doing.
14:49And I start pattern making another jacket.
14:52I mean, I'm running out of time.
14:53And I need to put something that I like on the model.
14:57So she looks good.
14:58And she's not naked.
14:59Hello, models.
15:00Hello.
15:01Hello.
15:02Hello.
15:03Not very far along, but we're getting there.
15:07So these are two of the fabrics.
15:08I'm just going to try and work on the third one, as you know.
15:11Can you please turn?
15:14Perfect.
15:15The vest looks good on the model.
15:18I just need to finish some parts in my vest.
15:20Thank you so much.
15:22I'm really confident.
15:24She said the back was underwhelming.
15:26And I'm like, the back is my favorite part.
15:28I'm thinking about what Anne told me, how to elevate it and bring it somewhere more exciting.
15:32Just get a top stick the hell out of it.
15:35Yeah.
15:36And it's okay, but I think it could be better.
15:38So I'm going to turn it into a jumper.
15:46These are the pants.
15:47Turn around.
15:48They look pretty cool on you.
15:50Poor Christina.
15:51These cha-cha pants.
15:53I'm like, where did this come from, girl?
15:56Something's not right.
15:57She's in trouble.
15:58Yeah, it looks really cool.
16:00Dimitri's skirt is so bad.
16:03But I kind of like it like this.
16:05It's funky.
16:06He will always say he loves something, even if he knows it's bad.
16:09And that's what he's doing with his skirt.
16:11Oh, but I love it.
16:13I'm going to unpin this.
16:15Michelle is doing still the same thing she was doing years ago.
16:19There is no design to it, really.
16:22Oh, my God.
16:23You look cool.
16:24Oh, my God.
16:26Get some sleep.
16:30Girl, the time just went so fast.
16:32I'm doing ruffles.
16:34Does it take a long time?
16:36Well, it's time consuming.
16:39Let's put it this way.
16:40So the jumper's done.
16:42I've got it pressed.
16:43It looks pretty fun.
16:44And now I think I'm going to try to make a turban.
16:47I'm going to try to use it for my look.
16:50I know it's supposed to be evening wear, but I sometimes wear my sunglasses at night.
16:5530 minutes to go.
16:58You okay, Christina?
17:01Uh, I'm very behind.
17:04Just keep pushing, girl.
17:07Yep.
17:10Do hotcakes really sell that well?
17:12I'm not a big hotcake person, so if something sells like hot...
17:15What's the difference between a hotcake and a pancake?
17:17All of a sudden, people are, like, talking around me.
17:20Temperature?
17:22And I'm just, like, cannot focus.
17:32I'm the type of person, I don't like to ruffle feathers, so I'll just grin and bear it.
17:36And just pretend like it's not affecting me, but it is.
17:40So, yeah.
17:42Guys, be respectful to other people who actually has work to do.
17:46Will you?
17:47I think it's just very disrespectful to other designers.
17:50If you finish early, relax or eat more.
17:54Like, leave us alone.
17:56Okay, guys.
17:57It's time.
17:58Okay.
18:03Coming up on Project Runway All Stars.
18:05You don't like this?
18:06Oh, yeah.
18:07It's strange to see Sean helping Christina when he has a mediocre dress sitting there.
18:10It's like, go ahead and up.
18:12All right, we're gonna do head first.
18:13I understand Arena's girl, but there's a taste level there that I'm, like...
18:25All right, guys, let's do this.
18:26And around the corner is Michelle, and then there's Cynthia.
18:30It's the morning of the runway, and the first thing I do is run back to the brother sewing room to finish my pants.
18:37Come on.
18:38It's time to really focus.
18:40This is crazy.
18:41Bananas.
18:42I'm just trying to figure out still how to integrate this third fabric.
18:49I have one ruffle of the white at the bottom, and I have these two pieces that I'm thinking about putting on.
18:55I think it just kind of ties it in.
18:58Yay, model!
19:00Hey, how are you?
19:02Well, it's a jumper now.
19:03I'm really excited to see this on you, because it looks like this when it's not on anybody.
19:07Yeah.
19:09Let's put it on.
19:10I just want to see where the sleeves are so I can set the sleeves in.
19:12I've got some sleeves put in.
19:14I've got to fix the hem and press the F out of this.
19:17Like, the number one thing that you can do to make your sewing look really great is a really solid pressing.
19:25Okay.
19:26My skirt is done.
19:27My vest is almost complete.
19:29I need to do the hem and to finish the arm hold.
19:33Uh-oh.
19:34Okay.
19:35It's falling down.
19:38Welcome back.
19:39At the Humberto Beverly Hills Hair Studio, I just want, like, a really long, beautiful ponytail,
19:45but also, like, sexy and wild at the same time.
19:47Not stripper long, right?
19:48Like, sexy.
19:49I mean, I like stripper long, too, but...
19:51Okay.
19:52We'll use the Humberto Controller Conditioning Spray.
19:54Blow dry, nice clean.
19:55Good.
19:59Like a middle part, and then just, like, a really kind of tight bun at the back.
20:02We'll finish it off with the Humberto Shine Spray.
20:04Yeah.
20:05And we'll give it a nice, clean, sleek finish.
20:07Sounds amazing.
20:08This is the main print, and it's almost like it looks like embroidery from afar.
20:16I want this kind of yellowy golden eye from Butter London.
20:19Nice.
20:20Beautiful.
20:21I feel like it'll kind of tie the look together and pull in the colors from the print.
20:25She's gonna look gorgeous.
20:27There we go.
20:28Perfect.
20:29Darken on the eyes and no lips.
20:31And lots of mascara.
20:33Yeah, please.
20:34Beautiful.
20:35From the JCPenney accessories wall, I grab a pair of red sandals.
20:46I love the color, and everything together is really good.
20:50You don't like this?
20:51To include the dot?
20:52Like...
20:53Oh, yeah.
20:54Sean helps me with my look.
20:55He's just so lovely, and there's something so nice about that.
20:58What would I do?
21:00You would be doing a facing.
21:02Yes, I would.
21:03It's strange to see Sean helping Christina when he has a mediocre dress that could easily
21:08be elevated with a bit more work.
21:11I don't think they should be helping each other anymore.
21:13It's like, go ahead and up.
21:14Let's get real, people.
21:15This is $100,000 in a world championship title.
21:2315 minutes left, guys.
21:2515 minutes.
21:26Good luck, everyone.
21:27Can I see you walk, Priscilla?
21:31I understand Irina's girl.
21:33Ass out, boobs out, whatever.
21:35But there's a taste level there that I'm like, mmm.
21:40You look like you're wrapped in tin foil.
21:43I'm gonna bake you in the oven.
21:46I wouldn't feel comfortable just putting out something so basic, but if she does, great
21:51for her.
21:52Okay.
21:53Sorry.
21:54I'm a mess today.
21:55Sorry, sorry, sorry.
21:56So I'm looking at Cynthia's look, and it is something that a girl would wear to an office.
22:01It's not reading evening wear to me at all.
22:03Can you please put your pants on?
22:05I think I'm the only one that's trying to really finish.
22:09I don't know how I'm gonna do this.
22:11We've got like five minutes left here.
22:13I don't have much time left.
22:15I'm just wondering what I should do about this.
22:18Top second.
22:20I really wanna win this one.
22:22I'm not here just for fun.
22:24I think Bedell's look is absolutely terrible.
22:28Like a really bad disco stardust outfit.
22:33All right, guys, it's time.
22:35Let's go to the runway.
22:36We're ready.
22:37All right, let's go.
22:38Just be careful when you walk.
22:40Off we go.
22:45Coming up on Project Runway All Stars.
22:48I would totally wear this.
22:49So badass.
22:50I love it.
22:51We use trim really well to make it look expensive.
22:53You went for something completely unique to anything else on this runway.
22:56I wanna like it, but I can't make myself.
23:00The winner of Project Runway All Stars will collaborate with JCPenney on a capsule collection
23:05as part of the Project Runway line to be sold at select JCPenney stores and online at JCP.com.
23:11An editorial and photo spread in Marie Claire Magazine and a position as guest editor for one year.
23:17The opportunity to create a signature nail color and an inspiring trip for two to London, England
23:22from luxury makeup brand Butter London.
23:24A selection of brother sewing and embroidery machines valued at $40,000.
23:29And to elevate their business and build their brand, a cash prize of $100,000.
23:38Oh.
23:39Oh, hello.
23:40Hi.
23:41Hi.
23:42So this week our retail partner, JCPenney, challenged you to find daytime separates and transform them
23:51into one sensational nighttime look.
23:54Let's meet tonight's panel of judges.
23:57First, co-founder and designer of luxury brand Marquesa Georgina Chapman.
24:01Hello.
24:02Next, one of the most iconic names in American fashion, designer Isaac Mizrahi.
24:09Woo.
24:10Hello.
24:11Hi, designers.
24:12Hi.
24:13Our first guest is one of the most respected performers in entertainment.
24:17She has sold millions of albums worldwide and has received critical acclaim as an actress
24:24on stage and screen with a notable standout role as the wicked fashion editor Wilhelmina
24:30and Ugly Betty.
24:32Yeah.
24:33Please welcome Vanessa Williams.
24:35Woo.
24:36Yay.
24:37So up.
24:38Our next guest grew up inside the fashion industry and has modeled for Armani, Versace,
24:45and Prada, to name just a few.
24:48Her prestigious role as a Victoria's Secret Angel led her to wearing their world-famous
24:53fantasy bra worth a cool $3 million.
24:57Please welcome supermodel Jasmine Tookes.
25:00Woo.
25:01Okay, so JCPenney will be producing a version of your nighttime look which will be made available
25:08online immediately after the runway at JCP.com.
25:12Have a great show.
25:13Good luck.
25:24She looks chic.
25:25There's something effortless about it.
25:27I did an adjustment to the waistline.
25:30That made a huge difference to be able to see her body.
25:33I'm really happy with this look.
25:42I'm not as offended by the three fabrics together.
25:45I think they kind of look okay.
25:47The colors go really well together.
25:49It's definitely like a bright, colorful look up there and it stands out.
25:57I think that extra detail that I did with the belt from the other pants, I think it makes the skirt edgier.
26:12Where's she going tonight?
26:14Like all over the place.
26:16I love the applique.
26:30It is reading kind of embroidery which was the whole goal.
26:34It doesn't look overworked and that is my aesthetic.
26:37You want it to look clean and polished and just like one zip and here she goes.
26:42I've tried to stick to this 70s look.
26:52I swear this best, it's very right now.
26:55Then create a silhouette that I like and I love bell bottoms.
26:59I think they're hot.
27:01I love the denim element.
27:13It acts almost like a shoulder pad.
27:15It really helps balance the body and it gives her strength.
27:18She looks great.
27:31You can tell she's living it.
27:33The color looks amazing.
27:35I love the shirting details.
27:37She also has a personality and excitement for a bright pop of color like this.
27:43It came together really well.
27:52I'm seeing my mother walking on the runway and I like how everything is really well done and straight.
27:58So the jacket or pants?
28:00Yeah.
28:01I think she looks amazing.
28:02I'm really glad.
28:04Okay, we'll get back.
28:08Designers, if I call your name please step forward.
28:11Anthony Ryan.
28:14Dimitri.
28:17Your night time looks have both put you through to next week so you're both safe.
28:26Please wait in the backstage lounge, thank you.
28:28The rest of you have the highest and lowest scores of the week.
28:33One of you is the winner of this week's challenge, and one of you will be eliminated tonight.
28:46Irina, we're starting the critique with you.
28:49So how did you incorporate your separates into your nighttime look?
28:52She was wearing a khaki short with, like, a peasant top, and then the dress was the shirting that I found.
28:59And then I used the lapels to create these pockets and kind of keep the details in its own cool, different way.
29:06Where is the khaki short? Is it just the piping?
29:08It's in the OB belt.
29:09Unbelievable. And I love the fact that there actually is kind of humor, because you know that it's shirting.
29:14The wonderful way that you have a shirt slit that opens as a button placket, I mean, really great.
29:19It's not my cup of tea, but I really love the colors, and that's one of my favorite necklines.
29:25This girl just makes me very happy. She's like Fiesta girl.
29:29My only critique would be, I just think the shoulders need some resolving.
29:32They just look a little heavy-handed from here.
29:35You really invented something wonderful here, so thank you so much for turning it up.
29:40Thanks, Alyssa.
29:41Hi, Michelle.
29:42Hi.
29:43How did you create your nighttime look from your separates?
29:45My separates were a denim jacket, a white pleated skirt, and they were reading really flat, so I went and found something with a bit of sparkle to be like, hey, nighttime, I'm here.
29:57You know what's really clever about this? The way you put in the denim and give them those really sharp lines on the shoulder with a little bit of the rays, it sort of gives this sort of galactic, futuristic feel.
30:08I really like this gal.
30:10Could you turn around, please?
30:13The back is great. I wish the dress was on back to front.
30:17Okay.
30:17Right? Because it's a great little silver dress. I don't need all that neckline personally.
30:22Mine says raw edge needs to be finished off with the bottom. Even if you finish it off with something else, with just an inch, that would have satisfied me.
30:30To me, it resembles something that you would wear to, like, a space party. I don't know, the fabric just kind of threw me off.
30:36I love what you're doing this season with all of this cutting out and framing the body because it's so incredibly flattering. So, good job, Michelle.
30:45Christina, your look is next.
30:47She was wearing a peasant top and jeans. From there, I created this reworked denim vest, which is a really big trend at the moment, this kind of 70s vibe.
30:58Listening to your explanation, you're like, well, I wanted to do something on trend. And I really think that's where you've gone astray.
31:05Your best work will always be when you just follow your rules, because that's why people are going to want to come to you and buy your clothes.
31:11If you're going to commit to a pair of pants like that, which has this fantasy kind of flamenco sort of ruffly thing, for me, it could use, like, four times as much ruffles.
31:21It's poor. You know, it just feels poor.
31:22You know, I salsa dance. I wouldn't even be caught dead salsa dancing in these pants. To me, it looks like a costume.
31:28I actually really love the pants. It's something that I would wear. I think a lot of young girls wear them. I feel like they're not nighttime, though. I feel like it's more of a daytime look.
31:36Yeah.
31:37Thank you, Jasmine. And thank you, Christina.
31:39Thanks.
31:40Hi, Cynthia.
31:41So when I found Samantha, she was wearing printed shorts and light blue cotton blouse. I used it just inside as a detail to have a little bit more bright in the entire look.
31:56The vest is a little frumpy. It's just a little matronly.
31:59I am so dying to see this without the jacket.
32:06That's better.
32:06Much better.
32:07Yeah.
32:07I had no idea what was going on under there, and I think the most successful thing about this is the neckline on that top. I think that's really beautiful.
32:15I would have rather seen you spend more time resolving this than seeing a jacket on top.
32:22Thank you, Cynthia.
32:25Let's move on to Sean.
32:26I had this yellowy blouse, and I had this really polyester lace that had this trim on it. I had to go to a nighttime that was a more colorful kind of, like a fiesta or something.
32:39I like the idea of creating an evening dress out of a print like this. It's very clever. But somehow, the third tier, it looks like an afterthought to me. Just could we see that without the flounce?
32:50It wasn't here two hours ago.
32:52A T-length dress.
32:53So much better.
32:54So great.
32:55It's actually a really good idea, what you've done, and I wish perhaps you mixed and matched the fabrics a little bit more.
33:00You said the polyester trim, but you used it really well to make it look really expensive.
33:05I like to see a woman's waistline, so I feel like if it was cinched in a little tight just there, it would be perfect.
33:11I just think there's a lot of lines. Even the lace has little lines in it. I want to like it so much more, but I can't make myself.
33:19Thank you, Sean.
33:20Thanks.
33:21Hi, Bedell.
33:24I really wanted to get Nikki, my model, and she was wearing these really great metallic pleated pants.
33:30I chose the crushed velvet in the rose quartz color, and then this was an army jacket that I used for just sort of the tuxedo striping and then the ribbing here.
33:38This is the girl that I want to be. I love the fabric. She looks like a really cool base jumper, like so badass. I love it.
33:47I love the crushed velvet, plus the textures of the silver. It's really modern, but very, very retro.
33:54I love the sophistication of this kind of bronze color that's framing the velvet and the silver. It really brings it together in a great way.
34:03You really committed to a look and went for something completely unique to anything else on this runway today, and that's really worked for you.
34:11My only critique would be, I do think that crotch is just a touch too long.
34:15Maybe if the crotch were even lower, if it was just a full-on...
34:18I think it's perfect.
34:19Thank you, designers, and thank you to your models. The judges and I are now going to discuss your work, so please join the others in the backstage lounge. Thank you.
34:37Wow, lovely, too.
34:38They love us. What happened?
34:41They said that the vest covers everything inside, and, well, it's not so good.
34:49Okay.
34:50They really liked it in, like, a, like, that it was, like, a summery nighttime dress, but they didn't like that there was, like, that extra tear at the bottom, and...
34:57They said the drop crotch was maybe too low or not low enough.
35:00They're so picky about their hemlines. They were talking about an inch.
35:04An inch on it, yeah.
35:04Like, are we getting judged on an inch?
35:08It was a great runway, repurposing sportswear into evening wear. I didn't know what to expect, but I was really pleasantly surprised.
35:16I think there were some very successful looks. Should we start with those?
35:20I'd like to start, actually, with Irina.
35:23We saw the shirt in all of its formation on the sleeve in the front, which I thought was really humorous, but also couture.
35:30You just thought, perhaps, she was, like, inspired by a shirt, referencing a shirt, right? I thought it was clever.
35:34She has a polish, and it even came through in this.
35:38The sleeves really threw me off that, like, high point here. I feel like it was a little bit more flat. It would have done much better.
35:43But the rest of the dress was gorgeous.
35:48Well, let's also talk about Michelle.
35:51Michelle, I mean, she's really got something.
35:54I love the geometry of it. I love the ease of it, that it's not too tight. It's this little throwaway t-shirt shift.
36:00And I'm a sucker for a dress I can just throw on and be done with it and not have to, like, worry about straps and what I'm going to wear under it.
36:08It felt very ungotten, and it just really resembled, like, a Halloween costume to me.
36:13From the future.
36:14Yeah, from the future.
36:17Can we talk about Bedell, please? Because this made me so happy.
36:21Me too.
36:22Amazing. I love it.
36:23It's just that it made sense. I personally don't love turbans, but I like being surprised a little bit.
36:29But the way he combined all the fabrics I thought was really, really smart.
36:32They looked expensive.
36:33The fabrics looked really expensive.
36:35It definitely evokes a period in time, and I thought it was Studio 54-esque.
36:42Okay, so those were our favorite looks. Let's talk about our least favorite looks.
36:46My least favorite look was Cynthia's.
36:49How could you even see it? I couldn't even see it until it was standing there.
36:52I mean, yeah, well, luckily you couldn't see it.
36:53Because then we did see it, and you made her take the coat off, and it was still a hackneyed, sort of poorly executed, poorly proportioned day look.
37:01It looks like she should have been in an office.
37:03She did. She looked like a secretary from a sort of 60s or 70s movie.
37:07It does not read nighttime at all.
37:11Is there anything that she could have done with this fabric, do you think, that would have made it more nighttime?
37:15Yes.
37:15If she had got rid of the jacket and concentrated on the dress, I do think that there are things you can do as a designer.
37:23But she chose it.
37:27Let's talk about Christina.
37:29I mean, I think she had a good idea.
37:31You do?
37:32I don't mind flamenco pants. I think they could be really fun. Those, no.
37:37Not one piece I don't think is wearable, really.
37:40I didn't like the vest.
37:41You didn't?
37:41I didn't like the neckline.
37:43I didn't like the cost of the shoulder.
37:44So you like those pants better than the vest?
37:46Yes, I did, actually.
37:47Really?
37:47Yeah.
37:47I agree. I like the pants better than the vest as well.
37:49Oh, yeah, yeah.
37:49The vest was a bit messy.
37:51Yeah.
37:53Let's talk about Sean, shall we?
37:56I scored him low, but the more she stood in front of me and I looked at that dress, there's art to it.
38:02Art?
38:03Art, yeah.
38:04This could be a dress, and you could see, and intimate. This could be anyway.
38:07It's just, it's resort to me.
38:09It's very vacation, throw this in your bag, but it's like beach cocktail, you know?
38:14I really loved the dress. I thought it was really fun, great for, like, a summer night out.
38:17But I do think that it was a little messy, and I did not like the white at the bottom.
38:23Have we made our decision?
38:25Yes.
38:25Do we all agree?
38:27Okay, let's bring him back out.
38:35Designers, one of you will be hailed this week's winning designer.
38:38And one of you will be going home tonight.
38:51Bedell, Michelle, and Irina.
38:55One of your looks will inspire a garment for sale on jcp.com, giving its designer this week's win.
39:03And that designer is...
39:09Bedell!
39:13You got it!
39:15Thank you, thank you.
39:17Well, congratulations.
39:19And well done to you, Michelle and Irina.
39:22We will see all three of you next week.
39:25You can leave the runway.
39:26Oh, my God.
39:27After all the stress, I completely agree with the judges this time, finally.
39:32I am filled with so much confidence.
39:34I'm feeling good.
39:35I'm feeling in the game, and I'm ready to rock.
39:37Bedell!
39:38I finally got one.
39:40Your first win.
39:44Sean, you had a low score, but your design has kept you in the competition.
39:50You can leave the runway.
39:50No more low scores, please, Sean.
39:53Okay.
39:53I'll try.
39:54Bye, guys.
39:59Cynthia and Christina, you're both deserving winners of your own international seasons.
40:06But only one of you can remain on All-Stars.
40:09The eliminated designer is...
40:11Cynthia.
40:24And that means Christina, we'll see you next week.
40:27You can leave the runway.
40:28Thanks, guys.
40:34Cynthia, thank you for joining us on All-Stars.
40:38I appreciate the opportunity.
40:42It was a pleasure.
40:43Such a pleasure.
40:44Take care.
40:46You're welcome.
40:47Bye-bye.
40:48Good luck, darling.
40:49It's a good sport.
40:53It's frustrating for me because I really don't think that my outfit today was that bad.
41:00You're one of the most amazing people that I know.
41:02I'm so glad that we come to Malaysia.
41:03I'm so glad that we can find some really good friends here and for the opportunity and everything
41:10else.
41:10I'm really glad.
41:12Bye, Sylvia.
41:13It's really going to be nice to go back home and I'm happy to go back to my family, but
41:19I know that they could wait a little bit more.
41:27Next on Project Runway All-Stars, your challenge is to design gender-neutral streetwear.
41:33I'm really excited about these.
41:35Michelle is dyeing her fabric.
41:37It looks like someone took a shotgun to someone.
41:39I really need to grab this challenge by the balls.
41:42It's really schlumpy.
41:44I just need to use that machine, Irina.
41:47Christina's on my machine because Irina's on hers, making an outfit for herself.
41:53It's bull****.
41:55It really reads like a fabulous garment.
41:58I love the color blocking in this.
42:00I want those pants.
42:03It really sucks.
42:04Oh, my gosh.
42:04I love it.
42:05Like the me, girl.
42:14What do you want?
42:18And have a nice tattoo.
42:20Oh, yeah.
42:21If we wait for you, anybody have to respond.
42:23No.
42:24I want those pants.
