00:01Previously on Project Runway All Stars...
00:03Meet the men and women from the Young Naturists of America.
00:08They're naked.
00:09I can't look.
00:10Your theme this week is winter wear.
00:13That makes your model feel confident.
00:15I don't make winter clothes. I've never even seen snow.
00:18Keeney, what are you gonna make for Sam today?
00:21I'm already making four pieces.
00:22Keeney is a very talented sewer, period.
00:25This trench has got an ease to it with just a touch of your personality.
00:34It's very sensual and at the same time witty in its proportion.
00:38The winner of this week's challenge is you, Emily.
00:43Do you feel comfortable in that?
00:46Yes.
00:47I don't think you look terribly comfortable.
00:49Your front skirt is hanging way lower than the back.
00:52Zen, how do you feel in your outfit?
00:54I'm happy with it.
00:55You are both excellent designers.
00:58And you did make your naturists feel confident.
01:01And so we're gonna give you both another chance.
01:03We're good. Safe.
01:08What?
01:09Maybe we should all flirt with the judges then.
01:11I need to go to the bathroom. I'm sorry. Bye.
01:13That was a low blow, guys.
01:14This ain't summer camp and somebody shoulda went home.
01:16I know.
01:17This is Project Runway All Stars.
01:24We're walking into medieval times and the first thing I think is no good can come of this.
01:32Oh my God.
01:33Oh my God.
01:34Oh my God.
01:35What?
01:36Oh my God.
01:37This is so bizarre.
01:39I'm thinking it's a period challenge but I just want to know the challenge at hand already because it's getting me a little anxious and nervous.
01:47Designers.
01:48Are you serious?
01:49Your queen of Project Runway All Stars.
01:52What is going on?
01:54Is that Alyssa?
01:56Yeah.
01:57Oh my God.
01:58She's so pretty on her pretty whore.
02:00I love it.
02:01What an intro.
02:05Good morning, designers.
02:06Good morning.
02:07Good morning, Alyssa.
02:08Welcome to the 15th century.
02:11The medieval period is having a real renaissance in pop culture with books, TV, movies and fashion all drawing on its themes.
02:20This led into the Baroque movement, which is known for its complex patterns and intricate decor.
02:26So this week, we want you to go for Baroque.
02:30Wow.
02:31Okay.
02:32Fashion is always looking forward but often draws on history for its inspiration.
02:37I start getting really excited because history, mixing that with modern day is cool and that I can do.
02:44Your challenge is to create a couture inspired gown that celebrates the innate detailing and fantasy of Baroque fashion.
02:53Baroque is real intricate stuff.
02:56Lots of lace and lots of beading and just lots of everything.
03:02Now, couture by definition means hundreds of hours of detailed work.
03:07Yeah, we know.
03:08But you're all stars.
03:09So we're just going to give you guys two days.
03:12Okay, good.
03:14Good, good.
03:15We can do it.
03:16Couture is very tough but two days, it's a good amount of time.
03:20The judges will be looking for beautiful attention to detail.
03:24And to keep you inspired, my knights are going to put on a show for you while you sketch.
03:29Do your best because for one of you, it is off with your head.
03:36Good luck.
03:39The challenge is to create a couture inspired look.
03:42That's super cool.
03:43Fittable times is so extravagant.
03:46It's inspiring.
03:53The show is just fun and I'm all about fun.
03:56So I'm sketching a fully beaded and hand worked super sexy gown.
04:02I've got a lot of ideas for this one.
04:04And honestly, it's couture so you're supposed to have a lot of ideas.
04:09This is a Baroque inspired challenge.
04:11I want to create a garment for a powerful woman such as Queen Elizabeth.
04:15I began sketching a turtleneck gown with princess seams that's going to elongate my model's body.
04:28I'm sketching a simple red gown and then I'm adding emphasis on the bottom that's different from just a flare or mermaid skirt.
04:36Everyone knows my background is in costume theater.
04:41I can make costumes.
04:42I can make period pieces, but that's not fashion.
04:45I want to do this huge kind of hip flange over skirt that will accentuate a very fitted gown.
04:51And now designers, it is off to mood.
05:06Off to mood.
05:08You guys can call me Princess Mitchell.
05:1130 minutes.
05:12All right, let's go, let's go, let's go.
05:15Like this is good, but this is $50 a yard and we only get $300.
05:18Maybe not so generic, maybe not so obvious.
05:21I need a print that looks like the Sistine Chapel.
05:25Okay.
05:27I'm doing this like full skirted gown.
05:29It's got high neck, some puff sleeves because that's very Baroque.
05:34I need the red.
05:35So last week the judges told me to quit overdoing it.
05:39So I'm going to make a dress with a structured semi-fitted bodice and then a faux corset.
05:45Thank you so much.
05:48You're welcome.
05:49It's something that speaks to me.
05:51Even though I'm a ready-to-wear designer, I have done couture design when I used to work at Oscar de la Renta.
05:57Este señor quiero.
05:59I look down and I see this most amazing fabric.
06:02It's a brocade with yellow embroidery and the best part of it is that I can use both sides.
06:08I'm going to create my textile by doing patch working and I'm going to do a lot of volume.
06:17Five minutes!
06:23Today is a nightmare.
06:24I cannot for the life of me find anything that resembles a Sistine Chapel.
06:30Finally I decide screw it.
06:32This is not happening.
06:33I pick up some lace.
06:34I pick up some trim.
06:36Can I get five yards of this please?
06:38It just sucks that I can't do exactly what I wanted to do.
06:42Wow.
06:43Good luck.
06:44Need more than luck.
06:46Thank you!
06:47Bye!
06:48Thank you so much!
06:49Thank you!
06:54So much to do.
06:59This is going to be a lot of hand work.
07:02I get into the work room with my lace and all I can think to do is just start draping it.
07:08I have no design.
07:09None.
07:11I'm going to put the black to trim it and then do the same details.
07:17You're like a new designer I feel like.
07:19Being on the top feels nice.
07:20Mm-hmm.
07:21Emily, how do you feel to be a part of the winning circle?
07:24Well, it's nice.
07:26I would like to join you one day, okay?
07:28You haven't won a challenge?
07:29No.
07:30No, I haven't.
07:31To win a challenge, I mean, I think it confirms a lot of things.
07:34I think we all deserve to be here, you know?
07:38On my season on the couture challenge, I sucked balls.
07:42I think this looks like a beauty pageant dress.
07:46I mean, I really question your taste with this.
07:51This time around, I'm going to try not to freak out.
07:54I just took an hour to test my fabric.
07:56This is ridiculous.
07:57I think Sam should make a jumpsuit.
08:01I think you guys should all shut the go.
08:05Sam, you've done eight jumpsuits so far.
08:07Eight jumpsuits.
08:09Eight jumpsuits and five challenges.
08:11I am impressive.
08:13Well, don't forget, Keeney made one of them.
08:17Oh, the shade was real.
08:19Keeney's not happy at all with Sam.
08:22And I kind of feel like there's been, like, tension brewing between them ever since the group challenge.
08:27When Alyssa was, like, raving over Sam's jumpsuit.
08:30Holy , I love this.
08:32Might be one of my favorite designs that's ever walked down the runway.
08:35I made that.
08:37Sam didn't say, Keeney made that thing.
08:39So, I think it started there.
08:41I'm just going to start, like, laying it over itself.
08:44You don't want the see-throughness?
08:45I don't want them to see muslin.
08:48Why do you want to put muslin under it?
08:50Because I have nothing else.
08:52Why can't you, like, strategically cut out some of the flowers and place them?
08:56I think Dom has a great idea for Sam's garment.
09:00It sucks.
09:01He's going to get all the credit for it.
09:03So, did you figure out what you're doing with those five yards?
09:06What Sam has done for this challenge is buy five yards of really, really expensive fabric.
09:10And it's the easy way out because the fabric's doing all of the work.
09:15Just because you can sew a dress with a really nice fabric, like, doesn't make it couture.
09:20Yeah, I agree.
09:22100%.
09:23I've just been hearing everyone, like, talk about me behind my back this whole time.
09:27I'm sick of hearing it.
09:29Alright guys, it's time.
09:31I'm not going to stop being who I am because, like, people don't like it.
09:37Coming up on Project Runway All-Stars.
09:41It feels very costumey.
09:42Really?
09:43It has a lampshade feel to me.
09:45Down the group, everybody a new ass .
09:47I'm kind of overwhelmed.
09:48Everyone's freaking out.
09:50I don't have time for this.
09:55Me.
09:56Who else?
09:58Another day, a lot of work.
10:00It's Baroque inspired, not directly Baroque.
10:04It's very Baroque.
10:06It's morning of day two.
10:08I go straight to the sewing room and I am, you know, just pumping those babies out.
10:13You're the only person that's really, like, making a ball gown type skirt.
10:17I'm going to win.
10:19The most challenging part of my look now is really creating the puzzle pieces for the top of the dress.
10:26It's so time consuming.
10:28She looks like a matador.
10:29Yes.
10:34What are you doing?
10:36I'm making a dress.
10:37I bought this gold sequins that's beautiful.
10:40It looks actually metal and I want to make little strips of it in the pattern for the overskirt.
10:45I don't know if it's going to show up on the runway, but it's a nice detail and couture is about detail.
10:52It looks like liquid dust.
10:53That was my goal.
10:55It kind of looks like tree bark to me.
10:57Tree bark? That's shade, bitch.
10:58No, it's not.
10:59Yes, that's shade.
11:01That is not shade.
11:02It looks like expensive.
11:04Expensive.
11:05Tree bark.
11:06The kind that was in Marie Antoinette's garden.
11:08Exactly.
11:10My statement piece in this look is the cape.
11:12I love everything that I'm doing so far.
11:14The only thing that I'm a little on the fence about is the front of my dress could be a little heavy with this cape.
11:19However, I want the detail in the back to be the attention grabber.
11:24It's gorgeous, Ken.
11:30I have a question for you.
11:31Yeah.
11:32I'm thinking of making like a slim sleeve.
11:34Like to the arm?
11:36So I'll have extra.
11:37Dom, are you designing Sam's look?
11:39He's asking me advice.
11:41We're talking about the sleeve.
11:46Hi, designers.
11:47Hi.
11:49You have really got your work cut out for yourselves this week.
11:52The couture inspired baroque gown in just two days.
11:56You all know couture is about extreme attention to detail.
12:00So I'm going to be all up in your business.
12:05Hey, Ken.
12:06Hi, how are you?
12:07I'm good.
12:08What attention to the detail are you paying here?
12:11With the baroque theme, I was thinking about apparel woman, Roy T.
12:14Uh-huh.
12:15I see something that's really heavy.
12:17Mm-hmm.
12:18I feel something that's great if you're going to a medieval costume party.
12:22I can see where you're going with that direction.
12:26We need to make this modern.
12:28Nail it.
12:29All right, thanks, Xana.
12:30Okay, good luck.
12:31All right, thank you.
12:32Xana isn't a love for my look.
12:33I'm like, chill, Xana.
12:34I got this.
12:35Let me finish the garment.
12:36I wanted to create kind of like some faux corseting, still playing on like my geometric flair.
12:41I just need you to have a wow factor.
12:43It should be breathtaking.
12:45Last time on the runway, that was like the first time I'd been in the bottom, really.
12:49Right.
12:50And I'm just nervous.
12:51I don't want to go too far.
12:53I don't want you to become gun shy.
12:55I really need you to still strive for the designer that you are.
12:58Valerie's construction techniques are meticulously done.
13:01You know, I'm just a little bit over Valerie's pleats.
13:03She can start doing something different would be nice.
13:06Don't second guess yourself.
13:08Do you feel this has enough baroque in it?
13:11Just make sure you have nods to it.
13:13A little bit more than gold.
13:14Okay.
13:15I see Halle Berry a little bit and Elie Saab.
13:18Oh, cool.
13:19But I don't know if that's cool, but.
13:21So I have this dress that's all gathered and I built a corset and draping over it.
13:25This is going to be nice fitted.
13:28I need it to look today.
13:29We can't go back in time.
13:30We have to think fashion forward.
13:32So make sure this is modern.
13:35Okay.
13:36As soon as I saw this fabric at Mood I fell in love.
13:38Your attention to detail is great.
13:40There's a way to do this and still make it look modern and a little bit sexy.
13:44So I was going to shorten this to make it a lot shorter.
13:47But I am going to say one word to you.
13:49The challenge was gown.
13:51Zena is worried that it's not going to look like a gown.
13:54At this point I don't have enough fabric to make it very long.
13:58So I'm going to line my skirt with the fabric to add the element of surprise and beauty to it.
14:04Think modern.
14:05Modern.
14:06Good luck.
14:07Thank you Zena.
14:08I think you've got the drama and the grandeur that's required for a Baroque challenge.
14:13There is a freshness and a lightness to this which I really like.
14:17Baroque is all about being like all covered up and whatever but I don't want to do like a costume.
14:21I want to keep it modern so I decided to cut up the lace motif and place it on top of the places where she didn't want to be naked.
14:28Sam was going to line this dress with Muslim and we had to stop him.
14:32Dom designed that dress.
14:33Good luck.
14:37I wanted to take just a simple silhouette of course adding a ton of detail to it.
14:42It has a lampshade feel to me.
14:44Okay.
14:45I wanted to put all of my detail work into the corset top.
14:50Where's the cool Asha?
14:53It feels very costumey.
14:55Really?
14:56I'm totally deflated.
14:57I am considering what other things I could do.
15:00My original sketch had a peplum in it.
15:03Maybe that is the wow piece that will make it young, cool and fresh.
15:06You can do it.
15:07I have absolutely every faith in you.
15:09Okay.
15:10We need high design.
15:11We don't need Dungeons and Dragons.
15:14What you need is a wow moment to this.
15:17Okay.
15:18I really want to make Greaves.
15:19Greaves.
15:20Yes.
15:21Kind of like the metal armor Greaves with this texture.
15:23You just forgot to tell me that?
15:26That small detail?
15:28It's not small.
15:29It's pretty big.
15:30Okay.
15:31There's your moment.
15:33The judges are going to want grandeur, not gimmick.
15:38My advice to you is think about your accessories, your hair and makeup all over styling very carefully.
15:45You've got the bubble bar jewelry wall and the Chinese laundry shoe wall.
15:48Remember, they need to compliment your gown, not upstage it.
15:53I have great faith in all of your talent as all stars.
15:57Let's make it happen.
15:59Good luck.
16:02Xana leaves and basically she has ripped everybody a new ass .
16:06The atmosphere has changed in the workroom a little bit.
16:12Anybody nervous?
16:13Yes.
16:14Yes.
16:15Hi.
16:16Pretty people.
16:17So the challenge is that we're doing Baroque inspired couture looks.
16:28Okay.
16:29So they're very ornate, lots of details clearly.
16:32I think it's going to be fat.
16:34How is that feel on your neck?
16:37Good.
16:38I have been working my ass off getting these flowers in the perfect position and I could not
16:43be happier right now.
16:48When I see the garment on my model, it's so breathtaking the way it moves.
16:53When I see the lining, I really like it.
16:56Oh my God.
16:57You should do that when you go.
16:58Yeah.
16:59I really want this to be corseted.
17:03My fitting is good.
17:04I just need to put a little panel in the back on the corset, but it is kind of missing something.
17:09I still want to do some trickle of velvet and pearls.
17:13Now I just have to do it in three hours.
17:16This is what I got for you.
17:18Okay.
17:19And it's a lot going on.
17:20I'm kind of overwhelmed.
17:21I have the top portion of my dress done, so I just adjust it, cut it, and add a strap.
17:27And it actually looks really beautiful.
17:28That looks really gorgeous.
17:30I still need to add a waistband.
17:31I still need to topstitch and add to the gown portion, the chiffon.
17:36I need to add my zipper.
17:37I need to finish my greaves.
17:39You know, I got some stuff to do, yeah.
17:42Thank you, too.
17:43I'm so excited.
17:44I'll see you tomorrow.
17:45Bye, Dom.
17:47One hour, you guys.
17:49Stop, Emily.
17:51Yeah, Emily, stop.
17:53I'm not even nervous.
17:54I'm, like, beyond nervous.
17:55The overall vibe in the workroom is fear.
17:58Like, just straight up freak out.
18:00We're all gonna die.
18:01I think everyone's freaking out.
18:03You need to do what time tells you to do.
18:06Time tells me I don't have time for this.
18:08Even Keeney's not finished.
18:10Why'd you come start on the bottom of the script?
18:13Are you done?
18:15No.
18:16Oh, hey, you guys.
18:17It's time to go.
18:18So I won't have a dress tomorrow.
18:20I won't have a dress tomorrow.
18:21I won't have a dress tomorrow.
18:22I won't have a dress tomorrow.
18:23I won't have a dress tomorrow.
18:24Coming up on Project Runway All-Stars.
18:26My model looks amazing.
18:28She's about to slay this runway.
18:30I don't get it.
18:31My zipper broke.
18:33Oh, that's coming home.
18:34Yeah.
18:35What do I do?
18:41Run.
18:42We got work to do.
18:45Morning of the runway, my biggest concern is just time.
18:48I ran out of lace for the sleeves, so I don't even know how I'm going to fix that.
18:52Hi, guys.
18:53Hey.
18:54We have to put the sleeves on still, but here it is.
18:57What do you think?
18:58I like it.
18:59I have to do your zipper, your hem, and I have to do bows on your greaves.
19:03I got work to do.
19:05Mitchell has so many ideals, and it comes off like student work.
19:10When you're fresh out of school, you want to do everything you can possibly do.
19:14It's almost like showing out.
19:16Okay, let's go for a walk.
19:18I love that it's different.
19:20I think it's going to stand out, hopefully in a good way.
19:23It looks so good.
19:24Oh, my God.
19:25I really like Leona's look.
19:27I like the idea of the Spanish kind of feel that she's doing.
19:30It's gorgeous, but I wish it was longer.
19:33Personally, I don't like brown either.
19:35I would never use that color.
19:36You ready to go to the Schwarzkopf hair studio?
19:38The ponytails on the ponies were gorgeous.
19:45Straighten it all?
19:46Mm-hmm.
19:47Bring this up, bring it back up, and then there's a little...
19:49Do you have extensions, maybe?
19:50Yeah, we'll put something in there.
19:51Okay, I love you.
19:52I'm thinking a center part with two French braids.
19:55Okay, sounds good.
19:57We'll see you soon.
20:02Hi.
20:03Hi, Emily.
20:04I heard we're going for Baroque today.
20:05Yes.
20:06I'm going for this real powerful Victorian look almost.
20:11It's going to be this black carbon, and it's going to be super dark.
20:14Great.
20:15You're going to love the look.
20:16Great. Thank you so much.
20:17Okay.
20:18See you later.
20:19See you.
20:23Look is done.
20:24Muddle's in it.
20:25I think she looks gorgeous.
20:27Oh, my God. I love it.
20:28Fits perfectly.
20:30It's a little more subdued than everyone else is, and it was my mind telling me,
20:35don't do costuming, don't do costuming, but I think it's classically gorgeous.
20:39It looks like the 50s.
20:41It didn't look so much Baroque.
20:43All right, turn.
20:44Let me throw this zipper in here real quick.
20:46My model looks amazing.
20:48She's about to slay this runway.
20:50She kind of looks like an elven mistress or something.
20:54I don't get it.
20:55There isn't one dress that stands out like, oh, that's going home.
20:59Yeah.
21:00It could be anyone, right?
21:01Because everyone has such a...
21:02Indistinct look.
21:03Right.
21:04We never know.
21:05You look absolutely beautiful, so thank you.
21:09I am proud of this garment.
21:10I am proud of the amount of work that has gone into this garment.
21:14There is more hand sewing on this dress than I think any of the dresses in this room.
21:21You look stunning.
21:23Why can't I get it in?
21:25Is it the zipper?
21:26All right.
21:27It's the zipper.
21:28Is it stuck?
21:29Yeah.
21:30My zipper busts, and I have to come up with something last minute.
21:34Try to go in.
21:37This isn't embarrassing or anything.
21:39Guys, it's time!
21:41All right, let's go.
21:42I'll just sew it in.
21:44It is what it is.
21:45I own it.
21:46My zipper broke.
21:48I'm supposed to have a leg piece that didn't make it.
21:51I really just hope the judges can look past that,
21:54and be like, okay, you know, this kind of stuff does happen.
21:58We get it.
22:04Coming up on Project Runway All-Stars.
22:07The bottom, I can't even comment on.
22:09It doesn't feel very broke to me.
22:11It looks like a factory-made dress trying to look like couture.
22:18The winner of Project Runway All-Stars will receive the opportunity
22:21to design an exclusive line of jewelry for bobblebar.com,
22:25the final say in fashion jewelry.
22:28A capsule footwear collection by Chinese Laundry.
22:31A fashion spread in Marie Claire in a position at the magazine
22:34as contributing editor.
22:36From Brother Sewing & Embroidery, a complete sewing studio
22:39to launch their line, and to elevate their business
22:42and build their brand a cash prize of $100,000.
22:51Oh, hey.
22:53Hi.
22:55Hi.
22:56Designers, your challenge this week was couture-inspired gowns
22:59that celebrate the fantasy of Baroque fashion.
23:03The judges and I are looking at the ornate detailing in your work,
23:07so let's meet them.
23:09First, co-founder and designer of Marquesa, Georgina Chapman.
23:14Hi, Georgina.
23:15Hi, Georgina.
23:16Next, one of the most iconic names in American fashion,
23:19Isaac Mizrahi.
23:20Hi, Isaac.
23:22Our first guest judge is an award-winning supermodel.
23:26She's appeared on the cover of every major fashion magazine
23:29and walked the runways all over the world.
23:32Say hello to Coco Rocha.
23:36Hello.
23:39Our next guest judge is the other half of luxury brand Marquesa,
23:42and we're so excited to have her here with us.
23:45Please welcome Georgina's co-founder and designer of Marquesa,
23:50Karen Craig.
23:52Hi, designers.
23:55Karen and Georgina are offering a prize for this week's challenge.
24:00The winner will join Marquesa Notte to design a piece
24:04that will be included in an upcoming Notte collection.
24:09Wow.
24:10So, thank you, ladies.
24:11Hi.
24:12Hi, guys.
24:13Very cool.
24:14And as always, we have a blind runway,
24:16meaning we won't know who's responsible for which designs
24:19until after the show.
24:20Good luck.
24:21I'm excited.
24:30I feel really good about it,
24:31and I think that it's just the right amount of classic
24:34and simple and elegant and me.
24:37I'm glad I couldn't find my first fabric.
24:50Yeah, actually.
24:52I am so proud of myself.
24:54Like, I have worked this challenge out.
24:57I worked so hard to get this dress into the formation
25:01that it's in right now,
25:02and I couldn't be happier.
25:10I like my dress.
25:12It's almost borderline avant-garde,
25:14which I'm not sure is a plus or minus.
25:16Hopefully, it'll work in my favor and not against me.
25:18Yes.
25:30It's obvious that I put a lot of effort into this one.
25:33Those shoes are not working,
25:34but I think she looks elegant.
25:37Her booty is popping in there.
25:38Her booty is popping.
25:39That's why that zipper broke.
25:48I'm so happy.
25:53This look is totally me.
25:54It's young, fresh, cool.
25:56It's Asha all day.
26:14Elegance pops in my head.
26:16I'm like, she's walking like she's an aristocrat.
26:19My dress fits perfectly.
26:21The pearls are draping down her back.
26:23She looks beautiful.
26:38She looks stunning in this dress.
26:40She totally gives life to it.
26:42I think my look will stand out because of the color,
26:45and the applique detail that I have.
26:48I wanted to make it just a little bit more updated
26:50and a little bit more elevated.
27:02My model looks amazing.
27:04I love the way the light is hitting my garment.
27:06It's flawless.
27:08She looks like a tall glass of wine.
27:10So dramatic.
27:15I think it looks great.
27:28I love the movement in the skirt.
27:30I don't really make a lot of gowns,
27:32but this is my favorite gown that I've ever made.
27:48I love it so much.
27:49It's so beautiful.
27:50Yeah, it's dry.
27:52It flows the way I want.
27:54The color just pops.
27:56I'm very happy.
28:07Designers, thank you for a very glamorous runway.
28:11Now, if I call your name, please step forward.
28:14Dom.
28:16Asha.
28:19Keeney.
28:21Emily.
28:24You're safe, and we will see you next week.
28:28You can leave the runway.
28:30Good luck, you guys.
28:37The rest of you have the highest and lowest scores.
28:40One of you is the winner this week,
28:42and one of you will be going home tonight.
28:52Ken, tell us about your Baroque look.
28:55As you guys know, I am inspired by power pieces,
28:59and I wanted to use rich materials to kind of express
29:02that expensive side that Baroque couture gives you.
29:07The statement you made is incredibly bold.
29:09I don't think you're missing this woman in a room.
29:12I think she looks couture.
29:13I think she looks austere, but elegant.
29:16She's strong, powerful, feminine at the same time,
29:19and I see that in each of your pieces, and I adore that.
29:22No doubt you are great at making clothes.
29:27This dress is not my favorite thing.
29:30Okay.
29:31I actually love the color.
29:32I think it's really unusual and different,
29:33and I definitely think that you've brought out a feeling
29:36of Baroque, but yet in a modern, cool way.
29:39Yes.
29:40So, well done. I think that's really great.
29:41Thank you so much.
29:42So, when the model came out on the runway,
29:44I was like, nope.
29:45Not at all.
29:46Don't like it.
29:47But all of a sudden, she walks, and I'm being a model.
29:50Of course, look at the models and how they bring the clothing alive.
29:53I thought she did a very good job.
29:55By the end of it, I was a fan.
29:57Thank you so much.
29:58Hi, Sam.
29:59Hi, Alyssa.
30:00Tell us about your Baroque gown.
30:02So, Baroque to me is very, like, covered up,
30:05and high necks, like, long arms, that kind of thing.
30:08So, I wanted to keep the style lines of that,
30:10but add my sort of more, like, easy, breezy flair.
30:14I like that it's pretty covered up, but that it's also sexy.
30:19You really took the time to place those flowers in specific areas,
30:22and it looks beautiful, especially up top.
30:24It looks so expensive.
30:27I love the fabric.
30:28I don't know how Baroque the actual fabrication is to me,
30:32but I love it as a fabric.
30:33I love a lace.
30:34I think they're the only one that took a Baroque inspiration
30:37and made it look so light and fresh and feminine.
30:40I do agree the fabric isn't Baroque, but I don't mind that.
30:44I feel like it doesn't look couture-inspired to me.
30:47It looks like you found a great fabric,
30:50but it's a draped dress that I feel like I've seen before.
30:54Okay.
30:55Ayana.
30:56I thought about the fabric mainly,
30:58and when I saw this fabric at Mood, I fell in love with it.
31:02It's not a bad look. It's quite a nice look,
31:04but it does not give me couture.
31:06It looks like a factory-made dress trying to look like couture.
31:11I feel like you have some really fabulous ideas here.
31:14I just think that perhaps you threw too much into it.
31:17I actually like the color.
31:19I like the idea that you've got something a little fresh here.
31:22My big problem is the combination with that color and the brown.
31:27That, to me, really didn't mix very well.
31:30Hi, Mitchell. Tell us about your dress.
31:33I wanted to deliver something bold and true to me,
31:37so that's what I have for you.
31:39I love that you committed to this design
31:42and you made it yourself.
31:44My issue with it is it doesn't feel very Baroque to me.
31:47The bodice is beautiful, but the bottom, I can't even comment on.
31:51It is so upsetting to me.
31:53It's so awkward on her body from the waist down.
31:56And those shoes. I hate those shoes.
32:00That was a bad decision.
32:02Not any excuses.
32:03I actually made a pair of thigh-highs,
32:05so it was going to look like Greaves almost.
32:07I didn't put them on her before we walked out of the workroom, so...
32:10Can you give us a little spin?
32:12What is this patch in the middle of the back?
32:14At the last minute, my zipper teeth pulled apart,
32:18so I had to strategically get her in it.
32:22Valerie, tell us about your Baroque-inspired gown.
32:26I understand that Baroque and couture
32:29can sometimes be overdone and gaudy and loud,
32:32but I wanted to create a simple elegance.
32:35I wanted to do more of me and less overabundance.
32:38I think there's some very interesting references here.
32:41I love the way you've taken this idea of corsetry lines
32:44and put them on the outside of the fabric.
32:47I love, like, the freshness of who that girl is.
32:50She's plain, and at the same time,
32:52she looks like not every single dress out there in the world.
32:56I think you were very successful with this dress.
32:58Your craftsmanship is so beautiful all the time,
33:01but especially today.
33:04Hi, Alexander.
33:05Hi.
33:06You're up.
33:07Well, for me, Baroque means elegance, class, aristocracy.
33:10So I built a corset out of satin
33:12and a skirt out of black satin,
33:14and then I appliqued sequin fabric in strips inside
33:18and then draped this feathered lace over it.
33:21Sort of giving me breakfast at Tiffany's right now
33:23rather than Baroque couture.
33:25You know your history,
33:27and I wish that you'd pushed yourself that bit further.
33:30Okay.
33:31I think where it goes wrong
33:32is like the little sort of seed pearl embroidery on the top.
33:35That gives me more kind of Elizabethan or something like that,
33:39whereas, like, you had me at the richness of the lace over the sequins.
33:43For some reason, with the pearls and the hair,
33:46it's suddenly going a little bit costume.
33:49It's a little grandmama to me.
33:51Okay.
33:52And she's a young girl,
33:53and I should not be getting that vibe from her.
33:55Thank you, Alexander.
33:56Thank you so much.
33:57Thank you, designers.
33:58The judges and I will deliberate,
34:00so please wait it out in the backstage lounge.
34:03You can leave the runway.
34:09Hey, guys.
34:10Hey.
34:11Hey.
34:12What's to do you?
34:13Guess what?
34:14What?
34:15I'm in the bottom.
34:16What?
34:17Yes.
34:18No, you're not.
34:19What?
34:20Coco Rocha's a tough critic.
34:21She is.
34:22She was awesome.
34:23Oh, she was.
34:24They didn't like my new modern take on my high-low.
34:26They didn't like my shoe styling.
34:28They called me out on my zipper.
34:30So it was just kind of rough.
34:35Let's talk about the looks that we liked the most.
34:38Let's start with Valerie.
34:40When the dress walked and it made its first impression,
34:44she got me.
34:45I liked the modernity of it.
34:47I thought it was smart having this nod towards a corset
34:50without actually doing a corset.
34:52I got medieval, and I got costume,
34:55and I just felt like she didn't push.
34:57It was well executed, though.
34:59I think it was finished very nicely.
35:01She could make a dress, for sure.
35:05Tell me what you thought of Sam's gown.
35:07The sheerness, I thought, was refreshing and light
35:10and different from what most people had on the runway.
35:13It really was.
35:14I thought it was very fresh, and it did stand out on the runway
35:17because he had taken this idea of Baroque
35:19and given her something light and fresh and girly.
35:22I feel like it's the most kind of, like,
35:24conceptually realized piece.
35:29Let's talk about Ken's gown.
35:31I thought Ken's was so well cut.
35:33The way the front of it was a cape,
35:34and then it went down into this wing.
35:36And the back, really sexy at the back.
35:38It was a very dramatic statement.
35:40There was something about the look to me
35:42that just when she came out, it just looked really cool.
35:45I thought lining it in the sequence
35:47was a fresh take on that cape,
35:48and that there was that little sparkle underneath.
35:50I thought it was quite beautiful.
35:54So let's move on, then, to the least successful looks.
35:57Let's start with Liana.
35:59She was trying so hard that it became costume.
36:02It became cheap.
36:03There was too much designer.
36:05I think that was the problem.
36:06You can't fault a couturier for being weird
36:09because that's part of what couture is.
36:11My problem is that it's not influential.
36:14It's just weird.
36:18I feel like there was a banality to Mitchells this week.
36:21Not only banal, but completely unflattering, right?
36:24Proportions were way off.
36:25Yes.
36:26I can appreciate the bodice and the intricacies
36:30and the work, but really that skirt was inexcusable.
36:34The boots were inexcusable.
36:36The chiffon was all fringy and...
36:39It was like an afterthought.
36:40And it was like a weird afterthought.
36:42A really weird...
36:43I mean, wouldn't you make it like ten foot long or something?
36:45Yes, something.
36:46I mean, the whole thing.
36:47It looked like he's stuck it on backstage
36:49or something in a panic.
36:53Let's talk about Alexander.
36:55It was well made.
36:56I will give you that.
36:57But it's not a dressmaking competition.
36:58Right.
36:59It's a design competition.
37:00It looks so costumey to me.
37:02I really didn't feel like it looked like a dress that belonged...
37:05And by the way, a costume from the wrong era.
37:08Yeah, it's a pretty dress that you spend a lot of money on
37:10because it's made to your bones
37:11and it's a really expensive textile.
37:13Let's squint for a second and go,
37:15oh yeah, that's a really expensive textile.
37:16I don't think it is a prissy dress.
37:17I thought it looked cheap.
37:18I thought it looked cheap.
37:19So we've made our decision.
37:24Yep.
37:25Okay, let's bring them back out.
37:31Designers, one of you is the winner of this week's challenge
37:35and will design a piece to be included in Marques' upcoming Noté collection.
37:41And someone else will be eliminated tonight.
37:52Valerie, you're safe.
37:54Thank you so much.
37:55You can leave the runway.
37:56Bye.
38:01Ken and Sam, which one of you will join Karen and Georgina
38:06to be a guest designer at Marquesa?
38:09Karen, do you want to make the announcement?
38:11The winning designer is...
38:16Ken.
38:21Oh my God.
38:22I'm so excited, Ken.
38:24I'm ecstatic right now.
38:26Thank you guys for the opportunity.
38:28I'm filled with gratitude and I'm very humble right now
38:30and I thank you.
38:31Well, we're excited to have you.
38:33Thank you so much.
38:34Great job, Ken.
38:35And great job to you too, Sam.
38:37We will see you next week.
38:42Thanks.
38:43This is my first win in Project Runway history.
38:46I won!
38:47Yeah!
38:49Oh my God!
38:50Yes!
38:51And honestly, it feels amazing
38:53because it's not just Project Runway.
38:55We're all stars.
38:56I mean, this is the challenge to win.
38:58I'll be designing a piece for Marquesa.
39:00Yes!
39:01Clap for you.
39:02Clap for you, Ken.
39:03Good job.
39:06And now to the least successful designs.
39:10Alexander, you had a low score but you are safe.
39:14Oh, thank you so much.
39:17You can leave the runway.
39:18Which leaves us Mitchell and Layana.
39:22Mitchell, we appreciate that you finally committed to one idea.
39:27But it was the wrong idea.
39:29Your gown was awkward and ill-fitting.
39:32You need to create and not just imagine.
39:35Layana, you made a pretty gown but it looked cheap and not couture.
39:41You just had way too many ideas going on.
39:44The designer eliminated tonight is...
39:54Mitchell.
39:57That means Layana, you remain in the competition.
39:59You can leave the runway.
40:07You deserve to be here, baby.
40:08You're so good.
40:11Mitchell, thank you so much for joining us on All Stars.
40:16Gonna miss you, Mitchell.
40:17So sad to see you go.
40:19See you again.
40:20Thank you guys.
40:21Good luck with everything.
40:23Thanks for believing in me and showing your support for my craziness.
40:27We love your craziness.
40:29Nice meeting you, too.
40:30Nice meeting you, too.
40:31Good luck, darling.
40:33I'm Go Bigger, Go Home.
40:34I've tried to be bold.
40:35I've tried to be bold.
40:37Nice meeting you, too.
40:38Nice meeting you, Mitchell.
40:39Good luck.
40:40I'm out.
40:41Being on All Stars is definitely validation that I'm a great designer.
40:42There is no doubt about that.
40:43This does not determine where you go from here.
40:46It does not determine your destiny.
40:47Absolutely.
40:48You know?
40:49This isn't gonna knock me down.
40:50I believe in myself.
40:51I always will.
40:52You won't believe what's still to come on Project Runway All Stars.
40:53Welcome to the home of the Brooklyn Cyclones.
40:54This is the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere.
40:55Please welcome Boy George.
40:56You're a troublemaker.
40:57Deborah Messing.
40:58Deborah Messing.
40:59Deborah Messing.
41:00Kesha.
41:01And Nina Garcia.
41:02In all my years of Project Runway, I really haven't seen something like that.
41:03It does not determine your destiny.
41:04It does not determine your destiny.
41:05Absolutely.
41:06You know?
41:07This isn't gonna knock me down.
41:08I believe in myself.
41:09I always will.
41:10You won't believe what's still to come on Project Runway All Stars.
41:13Welcome to the home of the Brooklyn Cyclones.
41:14This is the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere.
41:16Please welcome Boy George.
41:17You're a troublemaker.
41:18Deborah Messing.
41:19Kesha.
41:20And Nina Garcia.
41:21In all my years of Project Runway, I really haven't seen something be pulled together
41:22like that.
41:23I really want you to stand your ground and show us who you are.
41:24This girl loves that dress, honey.
41:25Thank you, Miss Isaac.
41:26Mrs.
41:27I want to kind of get you drunk.
41:28Bull , okay?
41:29You're out of here.
41:30You're out of here.
41:31You're out of here.
41:32You're out of here.
41:33You're out of here.
41:34You're out of here.
41:35You're out of here.
41:36You're out of here.
41:37You're out of here.
41:38You're out of here.
41:39You're a snake.
