00:01Previously on Project Runway All Stars.
00:04Your fellow designer is your partner for this challenge.
00:07The least successful pair of designers will both be going home.
00:12Oh my gosh.
00:13A double elimination is so much scarier.
00:16If one look is a little weak, you're both going home.
00:19This fabric could also go Florida pantsuit.
00:22No.
00:23You know what I'm talking about?
00:24Yeah.
00:25But no.
00:26I like the boldness of color, edging on a little bit frumpy.
00:31You killed it this week.
00:33I love the idea of this lace over the pants.
00:36Different size women can pull both of these pieces off.
00:40The winner is...
00:42Ken and Fabio.
00:47Merlin, it's so imprecisely done.
00:50Yeah.
00:51The hem on these pants is unacceptable.
00:53It looks like I put it together.
00:55I really have an issue when a belly button is just there on display.
01:00It's bordering to slutty.
01:01Okay.
01:02The pair of designers eliminated tonight is Melissa and Ari.
01:10This is Project Runway All Stars.
01:13Yes, dance.
01:14Hi.
01:15Good morning, designers.
01:16Good morning.
01:17Good morning, Alyssa.
01:18You've been sweating it out in the workroom so long, I think you could use some fresh air.
01:32I like fresh air.
01:34I've arranged for an inspirational trip to the countryside.
01:40I'm cutting it.
01:41You'll be visiting and touring a castle.
01:44Wow.
01:45Amen.
01:46Amen.
01:47I love that time.
01:49I belong in that time with the poof dressed and then, you know, the guys with the knights.
01:53Amen.
01:54Your challenge is to design a ball gown fit for a modern day princess.
01:59Instantly, I think regal and sophisticated.
02:01All right.
02:02Like, cool.
02:03I can slay that.
02:04Everything you'll need for this challenge will be available to you inside the castle.
02:08Oh.
02:09Wait.
02:10Oh, boy.
02:11The runway is tomorrow, so there's not much time.
02:15Your carriage awaits, so good luck and have a ball.
02:21Ball gowns.
02:22My mind just starts going.
02:24What castle is going to let us run through and ransack the whole damn place?
02:30Oh, my God.
02:37Oh, come on.
02:40Seriously?
02:41Seriously?
02:42Are you kidding me?
02:45Everything we will need for this challenge can be found in the castle.
02:48What in gay hell is this?
02:51Oh, man.
02:55Oh, great.
02:56The unconventional challenge.
02:57A ball gown.
03:00It's a gown made out of balls.
03:03Literally, balls.
03:04Run!
03:05Everyone get in there.
03:06Five minutes, guys.
03:08Oh, no.
03:09They all hurt each other.
03:11Yeah.
03:12I feel like I'm in a ring.
03:14Immediately, I was drawn to the basketballs that had black and white on them and the polka dot
03:21balls.
03:22My strategy is to get the big balls because of the ball.
03:26I'm thinking it's more material.
03:28It's mad chaos.
03:29All I know is I'm just trying to stay alive.
03:32Let him go.
03:33Let him go.
03:34Let him go.
03:35Let him go.
03:36I don't particularly care for challenges where I have to run.
03:38That's not really my thing.
03:39It's a mad dash.
03:40You know, it just turns into a circus.
03:42It's like a freak show at this point.
03:43Two minutes, designers.
03:44I'm too old for this .
03:45I gotta stop smoking.
03:46I have no strategy.
03:47I'm just keeping my eyes open and I see gold and I grab gold and I see these little tiny
03:52balls and I have pastel colors.
03:53So I'm just trying to grab as many balls as I can because to make a ball gown, you need
03:58a lot of material.
03:59How many times are we going to say balls today?
04:00Balls.
04:01I'm a little clumsy.
04:02I'm not very tough.
04:03And then I figure out I could just stand outside of the bouncy house and just collect all the
04:18balls that everyone else kicks out.
04:20Such a wussy, wussy cop out, but also like maybe kind of smart.
04:25One minute left, designers.
04:26Out of all the balls, the soft balls and neon yellow really inspired me.
04:30Soft balls and baseballs are already a really nice pleather that you can work with.
04:36Time's up, designers.
04:37I can't even stand up.
04:39Help.
04:40Help me.
04:41Oh, my hair.
04:42Balls for a ball gown.
04:43I got it.
04:44I'll help you if you give me one of those.
04:47Oh, this is going to be gorgeous.
04:56I mean, I love an unconventional challenge because of the freedom of it.
04:59I see this rainbow ball and I'm not a rainbow gal, but I fall in love with it.
05:04The way that they tear apart, they resemble petals.
05:07And so I think like maybe I could just cock glue the hell out of a gown.
05:12So I won my unconventional challenge on season 12 of Project Runway.
05:16And I think with unconventional challenges it's really important to maintain the fashion element.
05:21When I think princess, I think short and flirty and fun.
05:24So I'm going to do a really geometric neckline.
05:26But I really want to hone in on creating a textile that looks like fabric.
05:30What I love about unconventional challenges is the fact that we get to use a different part of our brain.
05:35And the imagination just flows.
05:37So I am sketching the long column gown and it has like a little overlay that kind of opens in the back.
05:44And I'm going to make paillettes and have this like kaleidoscope feel to it.
05:47Shaw, may I have your pink one?
05:49Yes.
05:50Like this. Thank you.
05:51In theory, I love unconventional challenges.
05:53In practice, I hate it.
05:54It's just so difficult because you have to be creative and also work with these materials.
05:59Oh, this is good for anything.
06:01I'm just layering over the dress form just to see how it's going to shape.
06:06So I'm figuring I can maybe do a sweetheart corseted shape on the bodice and then figure out the bottom as I go.
06:17Oh God, that's got to stop.
06:20Oh, you got some hockey sacks.
06:24Come on, how can I not get the hockey sacks?
06:26Yeah, true.
06:27Right?
06:28I've actually done three unconventional challenges and I won one of them.
06:32For the modern day princess, I'm going to design a really weird dress.
06:36I'm doing a long column dress with kind of a low cut front, an open back, a high slit on the side.
06:43And it's just going to be splashed with color.
06:46Oh my God, yes.
06:48That's amazing.
06:49Booberella.
06:51Oh my God.
06:52I'm feeling confident coming to this week.
06:54I feel like I have a chance of like a double win, like a back to back win.
06:57It makes me want to push harder.
06:59So I have a bunch of these gold volley balls and I'm starting to get a vibe of this Egyptian princess and all of these really heavy embellished jewelries that they used to wear.
07:11So I think I'm going to go down that route.
07:13My finger, I'm like blisters all over already.
07:16I'm realizing that it's three layers, outer shell of the ball is the gold and then there's a rubber layer inside.
07:23It's so pretty to look at but three hours in and I have this much covered.
07:28Oh, good Lord.
07:31This sucks.
07:32Ugh.
07:33Are you kidding me?
07:35Like all this stuff is so ugly.
07:37Like I don't think about like balls and like, yeah, let me make a ball gown out of balls.
07:43It'll be so fun and beautiful.
07:45This ball has balls on it.
07:48Helen seems to be struggling a little bit, but ultimately this is an unconventional challenge.
07:54Using unconventional materials and, you know, just getting creative.
07:59She has the potential to do well, but if she doesn't do well, she's probably going to go home.
08:04Ball's got me like a mess.
08:08Coming up on Project Runway All Stars.
08:11A lot of you didn't grab enough balls.
08:15These hot glue guns, forget it guys.
08:17My integrity is gone.
08:18I had to use glue.
08:19It's a cop out.
08:20Girl, lady, listen, shut up.
08:32I just figured this is a good PO box head.
08:35Let me see how my hair looks with this.
08:37You look fabulous.
08:38So much work ahead.
08:41I think I just got lost in my head a little bit about ball gown and that being to the floor.
08:47I mean, I would love to do long, but it's just a matter of how much material you have.
08:52Yeah, because I don't want it to look like I'm just making it long for the sake of, like, it being a ball gown and then it looks really tacky because the materials are just, I'm just going to create my bodice.
09:05It gives me time and then I'm just thinking of, like, what move to make next.
09:09Ball gown?
09:10Come on now.
09:14Did you see that rip?
09:15What, it ripped?
09:17It's still ripping.
09:18My material is stunning, but it's ripping every step of the way.
09:22It is proven to be quite difficult.
09:25Okay, this is ripping now.
09:27It is. It's falling apart.
09:28Candace, if you figure out a technique that works for this material, give your girl some work.
09:34That's what I'm thinking.
09:35Hi, designers.
09:39Hi.
09:40So it's the unconventional challenge.
09:42My favorite.
09:44Your favorite, too?
09:45Not really.
09:47So actually, we're seeing a lot of unconventional materials on the runway these days.
09:51Alexander Wang and others are using all sorts of fabulous and unconventional materials.
09:55But regardless of your materials, I'm always looking for fashion-forward, runway-ready looks from you guys.
10:01I'm going to be just as hard on you as I always am.
10:03So I'm going to start over here.
10:05Hey, Candace.
10:06Hi.
10:07I heard you had kind of a rough runway last week.
10:09Oh, yeah.
10:10I landed on the bottom.
10:11How do you feel about that?
10:12I don't hold on to anything.
10:13Great.
10:14So what have we moved on to?
10:15When I first saw these rainbow balls, I immediately thought petals.
10:20And I'm really going with like a pop princess.
10:23I am getting kind of a rainbow-bright 80s thing.
10:25Just to make sure the end result is fashion-forward, not Halloween.
10:29Yeah.
10:30It's very psychedelic, I would say, but I also have been safe for a few weeks.
10:37What do you see happening here?
10:38What fabric or texture do you envision there?
10:40I kind of feel like if I beat this down enough and layer it and stitch over it, I can kind of do this leather effect.
10:47When you say beat down, do you have a particular technique in mind?
10:50We haven't figured that out yet.
10:52Okay.
10:53Well, I love that you're going for it.
10:54Okay.
10:55Good luck.
10:56I'm really glad that Anne respects the boldness.
10:59I feel like I'm trying to jolt the judges away.
11:02Like, hey, I'm here.
11:03This looks very fashion-forward so far.
11:06I love it.
11:07I'm really concerned about your material supply.
11:09I am concerned as well.
11:11My idea was to use this to create an understructure.
11:15You've got this whole other thing going on, but I wouldn't want you to hide all this cool architectural structure that you've got here.
11:22I agree.
11:23What I'm going to do is use this as a base.
11:25And where did this come from?
11:26Is this inside the basketball as well?
11:27Yes.
11:28Yes.
11:29I never knew basketballs were so complex.
11:30Yes.
11:31Hi, Anne.
11:32So do cotton balls count as balls?
11:34Yeah.
11:35Were they in the bouncy house?
11:36They were in the bouncy house.
11:37Right away, I thought it's a My Little Pony convention.
11:40Okay.
11:41I don't get the cotton balls, but it's your vision, and you go with it.
11:44I firmly believe the cotton balls were a trick.
11:48Like, let's see who used these cotton balls.
11:52So I wanted to work on a structure that was almost kind of regal.
11:56And I thought what would make it more modern was to kind of square the neckline.
12:00But I wanted to make kind of like an organic textile.
12:03So you're going to create this entire textile between now and the end of tonight?
12:08Mm-hmm.
12:09Committing to developing a textile is so time consuming.
12:13No one else in the room is.
12:14So my dress is definitely going to stand out if I can get as much of this textile developed as possible.
12:20Well, these are actually softballs and baseballs.
12:24So what are you going to do for the rest of it?
12:26I don't know.
12:28It looks like it's going to be a cool dress.
12:30I love your architecture background.
12:31I think you should stick to your own vision.
12:33Okay.
12:34What I realize is it kind of tears.
12:37I think this has great potential.
12:39I can't wait to see it on something or someone.
12:42I promise you I'm going to have a dress when it's all over.
12:45And I promise.
12:46All right.
12:47Hey, Fabio.
12:48What are you doing to this volleyball?
12:49The volleyball actually, it's black on the inside, so I'm pulling them apart.
12:53But if I stitch it down, I'm able to hide the muslin.
12:57So how long are you thinking?
12:58Well, I'm really going to see it on my model, but I want it mid-calf.
13:01Oh, good.
13:02That will help with the quantity, too.
13:03Yeah, yeah.
13:04Don't get too comfortable, though.
13:05Oh, no, not at all.
13:06Like, this is all stars.
13:07You're never comfortable.
13:08This is my design I'm doing, so.
13:10Okay, let's see the shape.
13:11It was going to go to the floor.
13:12I don't know if I have enough.
13:14Mm-hmm.
13:15I'm hoping to almost create a kaleidoscope field.
13:17Okay.
13:18First of all, it sounds like a ton of work.
13:19I know.
13:20And you don't have a lot of time left.
13:21Right.
13:22Second of all, this kaleidoscope effect that you're talking about, when you mix all the
13:27colors together, you get brown.
13:29Ann comes up, and she says she's concerned.
13:31And so, you know, I have some thinking to do.
13:34Designers, let's face it.
13:36A lot of you didn't grab enough balls.
13:39The modern-day princess does not have to wear a long gown.
13:43A modern-day ball could be anything, right?
13:45It could be a rave.
13:46It could be an after-party.
13:47And get cracking, because you don't have a lot of time.
13:50Thank you, Ann.
13:51Thank you, Ann.
13:56Looking at Candace and Anthony, they are quite similar.
13:59And I'm just like, I don't want to be another rainbow dress.
14:02Ann did mention to me, be careful with my color choices, because when you start layering,
14:07all these different colors, they turn into brown.
14:10The orange works better.
14:11The little polka dot on the top, like, that might just work.
14:14Have you tried, like, gluing and or sewing any of this yet?
14:18Nope.
14:19I could just, like, glue everything on, but that's kind of like a major cop-out.
14:24These hot glue guns, forget it, guys.
14:27So I think it'd be to my advantage to only sew my garment, to create something that actually
14:32looks not like balls.
14:34I'm just trying to, like, make a textile so I actually have fabric to work with.
14:40You know how people be on the project when they tell me, my integrity is gone.
14:45I had to use glue.
14:46That'd be people who should be in battle of the seamstresses, not a design competition.
14:50I know that Helen is trying to create some blue textile.
14:54I have an appreciation for what Helen does.
14:56It's just not an appreciation for Helen.
14:58I don't care about no glue.
14:59And, oh, my God, girl, lady, listen, shut up.
15:04When I think fashion, I don't think glue.
15:06I just, it's a cop-out.
15:07We're so behind.
15:08That model's about to walk in.
15:12Model!
15:13Hey!
15:14Hello!
15:15How are you?
15:16So today is an unconventional challenge.
15:18We had to go in a bounce house with a lot of balls.
15:21It's going to be a very happy dress.
15:23I can't wait, so let me just pin you up.
15:26Stanley is spending way too much time on the conceptual side of this challenge that I see
15:31just a muslin base on his model.
15:34And it's beautiful and it's perfectly made, but it's still just muslin.
15:38Hold it up in the front and then I'll zip it up.
15:41Maybe add, like, structure.
15:43I have it, like, technically the side.
15:45Okay.
15:46I think I'm going to just do a simple bodice sleeveless.
15:49I love the length.
15:50I don't have anything to try on, unfortunately.
15:53So I'm not ready for the model fitting at all.
15:56So I, like, really focused on the happy sex and then now I'm just trying to, like, build
16:02fabric and make it kind of look like weird leather or something.
16:06It's tough because fit on this has to be perfect and I'm kind of afraid it won't be.
16:13These materials are not working for me.
16:19I may have to scrap this.
16:21I only have the top of the bodice ready.
16:27I have nothing else.
16:28It's in that moment that I realized that those cotton balls look horrendous.
16:33Do you have a lot of material?
16:35What you see is what I got.
16:37I am hoping that one of these balls is a crystal ball because I'm going to need a genie, a miracle, everything.
16:44A wing and a prayer.
16:45They're going to kill me in the wrong way.
16:47How do you feel in the front?
16:48Good.
16:49You feel secure?
16:50Yep.
16:51I like the direction that's going in.
16:52I really do.
16:53A lot more work to do, but I like the direction.
16:55Okay.
16:56Oh, and let's look at shoes really quick.
16:58So denim potentially.
17:00I'm choosing the denim booty from the Intermix accessory wall.
17:05I think this is just a great, fun, flirty, youthful shoe for this look.
17:09No, I kind of love that.
17:11I love it.
17:12It screams, this is Joshua.
17:14They're so cool.
17:15Let's go to the mirror.
17:17I have the corset draped and done.
17:20It fits her really nice if I can cinch her tight enough in it.
17:23Like that's the point of the corset.
17:24But the beautiful pieces on the top are beginning to tear.
17:28You know what?
17:29Maybe there needs to not be so much of this.
17:33It's not coming together and everything that I put together is just freaking hideous.
17:38Bye.
17:39Bye.
17:40Bye, dear.
17:41See you tomorrow.
17:42All right, guys.
17:43We have one hour left in the work room.
17:46Quilting beach balls on muslin is going a little bit differently than I planned.
17:51It creates this extra texture that I wasn't expecting.
17:54I'm super into it.
17:56I've started another cult, you guys.
17:58This one has a lot to do with acid.
18:01Edmund, are you doing all gold as well?
18:04Yeah.
18:05Edmund is also working on a full gold look.
18:08I feel like in the room you have like a couple of blue and you have a couple of rainbow.
18:12So things are really pairing off and automatically they're going to compare the two.
18:16I feel like to bring another element to my design, I'm going to incorporate a little bit of the black to make this stand out.
18:22Oh, mama.
18:23What could she do with all this color?
18:26What's going on?
18:27I'm not quite sure.
18:28I don't know.
18:29It's the end of the day and I have probably changed my design like a good ten times because this material just will not behave.
18:38And I don't have a skirt.
18:40It needs to like make sense and it's not making sense to me.
18:43Well, keep going until it makes sense, boo.
18:46I mean, I could still make it.
18:47Like at this point, I'm halfway done, which is a great place to be considering some people are not halfway done.
18:54Amanda's really the only one who has this like whole entire like floor length garment.
18:59I mean, the rest of us are just like.
19:02All right, guys, that's it.
19:03Time to go home.
19:04Let's go.
19:05Let's make this happen.
19:06All right.
19:07Stop it.
19:10It will be a bright runway.
19:14Coming up on Project Runway All Stars.
19:16Is the skirt weird?
19:18Candace's look, that bottom portion just looks sad.
19:21You undermine everybody else and make yourself look better.
19:24Like why would I do that?
19:25Because you do it kind of often.
19:32Open it up.
19:33Make it happen.
19:34Don't give up anybody.
19:35Right?
19:36It's the morning of the runway and I have to trim up the bodice, put in the zippers.
19:41So the skirt, it sounds like a lot more than time allows, but she'll be dressed.
19:47Please stay.
19:49I immediately begin with the bottom half.
19:54Where's that heavy duty yellow?
19:55I mean, she can't walk down bottomless.
19:58Is the skirt weird?
19:59I like weird.
20:00Yeah.
20:01I'm using a yoga ball for my skirt.
20:03I'm using a yoga ball for my skirt.
20:04The shape is beautiful.
20:05It's starting to actually behave.
20:07I think the skirt's going to look kind of cool.
20:09And I'm just like hoping that this is going to stitch okay.
20:13It's so hard to sew.
20:15Because nothing is working except for the brother sewing machine at this point.
20:19Yeah.
20:20How are you?
20:21Good morning.
20:22I just have to finish doing this and glue everything.
20:25The only thing I have to do now is just apply everything onto the dress.
20:29It's pretty cool, huh?
20:30I'm just cutting and gluing before glue.
20:34It's a lot of work.
20:35People are looking at me like, are you going to be ready?
20:37All right.
20:38There's just gluing.
20:39A lot of gluing.
20:41The heat is on.
20:43I try my dress on immediately because I'm a little worried it won't fit.
20:49Well, it's not that bad.
20:50But it zips up and there's nothing exposed.
20:54Cool.
20:55I could make it fit a little bit better, but I would rather add hacky sacks.
21:01It's quilting on Mars.
21:03Gorgeous.
21:05It's a beautiful dress.
21:07It's really unexpected even for me to make something this bold and sexy.
21:12I have enough balls.
21:13I don't have enough time.
21:15I think Fabio should win.
21:17It looks like real materials and it does not look like a clown costume.
21:21Helen's look is kind of perfect.
21:24I think her craft alone will land her in the top.
21:32Hello.
21:33Welcome to the Humberto Hair Salon.
21:34Hi.
21:35So tell me about your look.
21:36I textured my fabric to look like leather.
21:38So I want to make it sleek and polished.
21:39So we'll prep her with a blow-dry lotion and then we'll finish it up with a Roman oil serum.
21:44That sounds perfect.
21:45I decide to go with a really simple style for my model.
21:48I think it goes perfectly with my design and I think it gives it that extra edge that I want.
21:53The beautiful Shiloh here, she's gonna be in a really cute party dress.
21:59There's nothing wrong with soft and pretty.
22:02Right, right.
22:03So at the Rodeal Glam Room, you've got a gorgeous color.
22:06Ah, that's the color lip I want. Perfect.
22:08It's called bag.
22:09Smile there.
22:10My vision is something very sweet, clean face with very rosy cheeks and a soft pale lip.
22:16Definitely looking like a princess.
22:18Designers, we have ten minutes to the runway.
22:20Honestly, I don't care so much for Candace's look. That bottom portion just looks sad.
22:29Cute.
22:30I love how my skirt looks. It's an awesome textile and the colors are beautiful together.
22:35I would love to just glue it, but I don't want to cheapen the look.
22:38It's gonna stand out on the runway.
22:40I think Helen's design is a little safe. Everybody is going outside the box and you look at hers, it doesn't have that power factor.
22:47Hold on, let me give it a little bit more glue.
22:50For me, Stanley's design kind of looks like cottage roofing. You know, the overlapping shingles.
22:56Two minutes to the runway.
22:59I have to get this done, but I can't take this off of her again, so I just decided to hand sew it.
23:04Looking around the room, I am in trouble. Char is in trouble, and I don't know where Candace is going either.
23:10That's time, everybody. That is time.
23:13Voila. She's dressed, and off you go.
23:16Veronica, you look like money.
23:22Coming up on Project Runway All Stars.
23:24It moves like a plastic beach ball.
23:26If I saw her at a party, I'd be like, who is that?
23:29It feels a bit sagging. You don't want a sagging ass.
23:32Ass.
23:33Shade.
23:34C'est la vie, Project Runway.
23:36The winner of Project Runway All Stars will receive a fashion spread of Marie Claire and a position at the magazine as contributing editor.
23:45An inspiring trip for two to fashion capital London, England.
23:49And luxurious skincare and makeup for their debut show and beyond, all provided by Rodial.
23:55From Intermix, accessories and styling services to enhance their next collection.
24:00From Brother Sewing and Embroidery, a complete sewing and crafting studio to launch their line.
24:05And to elevate their business and build their brand, a cash prize of $100,000.
24:12Hello.
24:13Hi.
24:14Hello, designers.
24:15Hi.
24:16This week, we sent you out to the countryside to visit a castle.
24:27Yeah.
24:29You were asked to make ball gowns for modern day princess.
24:33Let's meet our royal lineup of judges.
24:36First, co-founder and designer of luxury brand Marquesa, Georgina Chapman.
24:41Hi, designers.
24:42Hi.
24:43How do you know?
24:44Next, one of the most iconic names in American fashion, Isaac Mizrahi.
24:49Hi.
24:50Hi, kids.
24:52Our guest judge is a two-time Grammy Award winner.
24:55She has become one of the most critically acclaimed country performers in the business.
25:00Please welcome Casey Musgraves.
25:03Hello.
25:05Hi, y'all.
25:07Remember, we're looking for modern day ball gowns.
25:12Have a great show.
25:18Dude, that looks like freaking leather.
25:20When did you make this?
25:22I'm really proud.
25:23It looks like a leather outfit.
25:27I was on the fence about using the inside of the balls, but I'm glad that I did.
25:32So cute.
25:33I love the column nature of the dress, that you can see a little bit of leg.
25:43I love it.
25:44It's so me.
25:45All that detail, all the hacky sacks, it's just this whimsical moment.
25:50I would do a little bit on the wrong way.
25:56It's quite beautiful.
25:58The lights are really helping the fabric to look as vibrant as it could.
26:03And I think the vibrancy is taken away from the flaws.
26:07Okay.
26:08Look at the way it moves.
26:09I am feeling my look.
26:10I think it's very flirty and young.
26:11That skirt is so cute.
26:12It's a little scared.
26:13My garment is the only garment that has that movement.
26:30Yes, girl.
26:31Sell it.
26:33Helen, that looks so expensive.
26:34My look was a lot of work, a lot of strategy.
26:37I'm just glad that it's finished.
26:39You're committed to selling it.
26:41Something like that.
26:42like that. And I love the color palette. I mean, I don't typically work with vibrant colors.
26:51I have no idea how you did that. I don't either. It looks amazing. It looks like liquid gold has
26:56been drizzled all over her body. I believe in the look and hopefully the judges believe in the look.
27:03Classic. You make everything classic. When my design walks down the runway,
27:12it's just floating and it has so much movement. It's catching all the light.
27:18You need to be in the top with that one. And the color is so different from everybody else's.
27:23It's so beautiful.
27:24Hand stitched. Are you kidding me? My model looks hot. There's girls out there that are
27:34going to be calling me for this dress. And the cool thing is I got the coverage I needed without using
27:42muslin. That's Candice all the way. I'm not going to lie. It's not an attractive look. Definitely not
27:53my favorite garment I've ever made. It looks like a deflated ball on the bottom.
28:00Hopefully the judges see the direction that I was trying to go in, but it's not my best work.
28:11Oh my God. Absolutely fickening. I know I've been saying every week that I'm proud to see my look,
28:17but it's a beautiful dress.
28:18I'm loving the overall shape, the fringe at the edge, and I'm so glad that I put that zipper in the back.
28:33That looks great. Oh, I love the straps.
28:35I feel great about my look. The materials translate like blue padded leather.
28:40I love the way the straps wrap around her back and turn into a belt.
28:53How fun is that? It's a lot of colors. I love it. I use color. It's alive. It looks fun.
29:00I love the detail on the side of the garment. I just had fun.
29:16Designers, if I call your name, please step forward.
29:19I love it.
29:20Marlene.
29:22Edmund.
29:24Ken.
29:27Joshua.
29:29Anthony.
29:31Char.
29:34You are safe.
29:36Thank you. You can leave the runway.
29:38Yeah.
29:41Designers, one of you is the winner of this week's challenge and one of you will be going home tonight.
29:49Amanda, we're going to start with you.
29:53Well, I didn't want to think of the Met Ball. That felt too obvious. So I came up with a story
29:58about an experimental filmmaker going to Cannes and she wants to make a very strong statement.
30:04I think my favorite part of the dress, can you turn around? I think there was...
30:06Mine too.
30:07I found the back on this dress much more successful than the front. What really threw me,
30:11I think, was the cutout and the neckline. And to be honest, when she walked out, she looked pregnant.
30:16Okay.
30:16I think it's a great dress.
30:18My problem is it's not an evening dress, like a grand ball gown skirt.
30:23I do think props to you for having a long one. And I appreciate the punkiness and the like,
30:28almost rudeness of the whole thing. My issue with this piece is that everything is sort of
30:33not touching her body in the way that it should. Fabio.
30:38So I used a gold volleyball. The black is actually the lining inside the ball. And my inspiration was
30:44Egyptian royalty in modern days. For a short dress, it feels very dressy. It really does. I love the
30:50mystery of it. I really think you've done a wonderful job of creating this armor of a dress.
30:55Using your textile in such a clever way. I'm really sculpting the body. It's theatrical,
31:00there's something very gladiator about it. It's kind of like a big piece of jewelry.
31:04I think it looks really rich. Like if I saw her at a party, I'd be like, who is that? I want to be her friend.
31:10Kimberly. Since it was beach balls, I wanted to do something young and fresh.
31:15This was one of my favorite dresses today. Oh, thanks. Somehow you were able to work this material
31:21into having movement. When it was moving, it was terribly pretty. Standing still, it loses a little
31:27bit of that panache. The one thing that I'm not mad about is how bare it is. You really have to be
31:32like super young to wear that dress. Candice. So there were these rainbow balls that really
31:38spoke to me. I cut them open, and there's an understructure in the corset, and I draped on top
31:42of it. Everything had to be hand stitched. I'm a little bit disappointed here. You got to put a
31:47corset in, and I think considering you've done that, it's incredibly unflattering on your girl.
31:52It feels a bit sagging, and you don't want a sagging arse, really. You know, you want a
31:58arse. I think you got consumed by these fabrics that just wouldn't work, and you just kept
32:04backpedaling. And I feel like it's probably the fault of the textile. I'm not mad at you,
32:08I'm mad at the dress. Stanley. Hi. How did you work your balls into your look?
32:15Well, I wanted to do something that was chic, and so I just went to my go-to Audrey Hepburn.
32:20I think you did an amazing job. This was one of the other dresses that had movement. I particularly
32:25enjoy the little jacket you put over the top. I get Audrey Hepburn from that. I love the shape of it.
32:32It's so different from all the rest of the dresses. It's really, really smart. The back
32:36is perfection also. It almost has like an editorial quality about it. Thank you. Helen.
32:42I was more concerned with creating an actual textile. I didn't want to take like the crafty
32:47route and just glue everything onto a bosom base. I could appreciate the textile, but what I can't see
32:53past is the basicness of this look. I just wanted to make something that was flattering and fashion-forward.
33:01But that's, to me, that's neither flattering or fashion-forward. Right.
33:05I agree with Georgina. I don't think that dress is enough. I actually like the palette. The fabrication
33:10on the bodice is beautiful. The colors came, all I could think of was Best Buy. Sorry.
33:15No worries. Thank you. But there's no way there's like purple or orange going into this,
33:21looking like a clown dress. Again, I was more concerned about like execution and fit.
33:27I just felt like it'd be a cop-out to just like hot glue to muslin.
33:30Shade. Just like a personal preference. Shade.
33:33No, not shade at all. But if that's how you want to consider that, that's totally fine.
33:38No, just teasing. Just teasing. Teasing. Oh, they'll take it personal. But
33:41c'est la vie, Project Runway.
33:45Thank you, designers. We will call you back after the deliberation.
33:49Oh, hi. Hi, guys. Hi. I'm in the bottom. No, I knew I was in the bottom.
34:01Oh, hi. May I sit with you? Is anybody going to scoot over it more?
34:04It's some hard work. And I'm sorry that I glued my stuff to it, but um...
34:10All right, if you want to go down that route, you mentioned it for a reason, so...
34:13No, I mentioned it just because it's like...
34:15I decided to do my design a different way, and that's it.
34:19You felt like it was a cop-out to glue stuff onto muslin,
34:23and you didn't want to make a clown dress, and you didn't want to use orange or purple,
34:27which is dresses that were next to you on the runway.
34:29You undermined everybody else to make yourself look better.
34:32Why would I say anything rude about any of you people? Like, why would I do that?
34:36Because you do it kind of often.
34:39No, because I respect all you guys. It doesn't have to be this deep.
34:42I know, but the last thing I would ever want to do is offend anybody.
34:46But you said orange and purple when Kim's dress is purple.
34:50It was just my choice.
34:51And you said, like, you don't want to make a clown dress.
34:52It was just like mine.
34:54You were just being hailing.
34:56It was so crappy that even Isaac called it out.
35:02Let's start with Kimberly. I thought this was very smart.
35:06Fine and young.
35:07I don't know. I really didn't find it elevated enough.
35:11The visual impact didn't exactly meet the kind of idea that she had for the dress.
35:16But I will give her props for creating a fresh silhouette and a fresh length.
35:20She utilized that material so smartly.
35:26Well, let's talk about Fabio.
35:28That's an amazing dress.
35:29He's so smart, the way he used the right pieces of the ball on the right parts of the anatomy.
35:36He really made the woman's body look beautiful here.
35:40You can tell he knows the importance of shape and the female form.
35:46And then we have Stanley.
35:48Fabulous job.
35:49You can see the quality.
35:51Fabio gave us warrior princess and Stanley gave us this refined princess.
35:56It felt so expensive.
35:57Fabulous.
35:57Fabulous.
35:58So thought out.
35:59Well thought out.
36:02Okay, so let's talk about the least successful looks.
36:05Amanda.
36:06Can we talk about how it was ill-fitted and the silhouette was horrible and the back was
36:10better than the front.
36:12For sure.
36:12I thought the top was good.
36:13Yeah.
36:14And then something odd started happening.
36:16The cutout was bad.
36:17It was just not an evening dress.
36:18Now I feel like we can't eliminate Helen from that dress.
36:24I'd like to after the shade.
36:26Helen's dress was just kind of boring.
36:28So boring.
36:28Don't come into a competition and then get upset when you're judged.
36:32Right, right.
36:33For the third time.
36:34And she's been through it three times.
36:35I think she's kind of lost this season.
36:37I'm not sure she's doing her best work.
36:42Let's talk about Candice, please.
36:43That was a disaster.
36:45I was really struggling to try to give her anything.
36:48I know.
36:48Me too.
36:49It was so disappointing.
36:50It was also kind of an outdated idea with a one shoulder and a bubble skirt.
36:54I get it.
36:55It didn't stitch.
36:56But you find that out in the first few hours and you rethink it quickly.
37:00You're right.
37:02We've made our decision.
37:05Okay, let's bring them back out.
37:13And?
37:15Helen?
37:18Seriously?
37:23Interesting.
37:28And?
37:31Helen?
37:33What's going on?
37:36Just the host.
37:40Is that drama that's taking place backstage?
37:42Slight.
37:42Yeah.
37:44And no sight of Helen.
37:46I don't know what's going on.
37:55All right.
37:57Designers, one of you is the winner of this season's unconventional challenge.
38:04And one of you will be eliminated tonight.
38:10Kimberly, you are safe.
38:13See you next week.
38:17The winning designer is...
38:22Stanley!
38:23Yes!
38:26Congratulations, Stanley.
38:28My glue gun thanks you also.
38:30And well done, Fabio.
38:32You can leave the runway.
38:33I'm so excited.
38:34I'm so excited.
38:35I'm so excited.
38:40It's like a relief, but it's also a big responsibility.
38:43Feels good.
38:44My first win.
38:45Because now the judges are looking at you, so you have to step your game up.
38:49Amanda, you had a low score, but you are safe.
38:56I appreciate the feedback.
39:00And that leaves Helen and Candace.
39:02Helen, your look was neither fashionable nor flattering.
39:09In fact, it was just basic.
39:12Candace, your design was overworked and it lacked restraint.
39:16The designer eliminated tonight is...
39:30Candace.
39:33Which means, Helen, we will see you next week.
39:42Safe.
39:42Safe.
39:42Good.
39:43Oh, Candace.
39:45Shucks.
39:46Helen, we're glad you're back.
39:48We want you to know, like, we're all designers here and we can all create textiles.
39:53So, if you feel it in you to apologize to whoever you feel you hurt by that.
39:57I mean, it wasn't my intention at all to jab at Fabio or Amanda.
40:01I'm sincerely sorry.
40:06Candace, thank you for joining us on All Stars.
40:08We wish you all the best.
40:11Nice meeting you.
40:11You too, darling.
40:12I'll see you again.
40:14Thanks.
40:14Thanks.
40:15I'm not sad.
40:16I had a really great time.
40:20You know, it's not the worst challenge to go out on.
40:24No arguing, guys.
40:26All this means is that I can't make clothes out of, you know, plastic balls.
40:31I love you.
40:32I love you guys.
40:33You're amazing.
40:34But I love what I do, so I know I'll be doing it for the rest of my life.
40:38You guys are awesome.
40:39Kill it.
40:40And when you know what you want to do for the rest of your whole entire life, it's just
40:45another page in the book, another chapter in your story, and I'm just gonna, you know, continue writing my book.
40:51You won't believe what's still to come on Project Runway All Stars.
40:58Betty Boop.
40:59Hi, Project Runway All Star designers.
41:02Betty Boop, she about to slay.
41:05If I was Edmund, I would throw my in the trash.
41:08Kimberly's motto is, ass out, battle the streetwalkers.
41:12We're going where no All Star has ever gone before.
41:15One of your pieces will be included in the Smithsonian's permanent collection.
41:20Are you kidding me?
41:21Please welcome Catherine Zeta-Jones, Olivia Culpo, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Zach Posen and Nina Garcia, and RuPaul.
41:30My gay gene is saying, yes!
41:34I'm about to quit.
41:35Why am I shaking so hard?
41:37Because just got real.
41:38Go fetch the dress.
41:41It doesn't feel fashion forward to me.
41:43I can make a dress out of baseball.
41:45I can send a look down the runway.
41:46Trust the McKinley magic.
41:49This to me felt like a step backwards.
41:51I'm sort of mad at you because I don't think you got it at all.
41:54This dress is everything.
41:56It inspires me.
41:57Young and chic, we want to see it every week.
42:00Early 6 hour alles in kit.
42:02A phrase that also just
42:07goes, let's not see이 sanitized regardless of this.
42:12It's backwards then.
42:14So I appreciate it that when it's just finished give the dress.
42:16Come and sign the dress up as an artist.
42:18Come and sign it up as an artist song.
42:21I'll have a second.
42:23Notice how these traditions are or not.
42:25It's no way tofik saiy man.
42:27Even when it smiles and Für.
