00:01Previously on Project Runway All Stars,
00:03we want you to redefine athleisure wear.
00:07Sam is gonna use mesh.
00:09I got mesh.
00:10Maybe I can show you how it's really done.
00:12Keenies jacket is something you can buy at Kmart.
00:15He just got really aggravated.
00:17Oh, my God. I'm done.
00:19That's not good.
00:24I love that that skirt looks like a jersey.
00:26It's so clever. Thank you.
00:27The drama of it is so fabulous.
00:29And this illusion back, it's everything.
00:32It's so chic.
00:33And I love the splash of color that you've thrown in.
00:36The winning designer is...
00:39Keenie!
00:40Really?
00:41Finally, I'm on a challenge.
00:43It's beautiful for a cocktail party.
00:45I just don't think it's appropriate for a game.
00:47There's something about the proportion of this
00:49that's really throwing me.
00:51It's not giving me anything, really.
00:53The styling together doesn't sit to me.
00:55It looks so disparate.
00:58The designer eliminated tonight is...
01:01Liana.
01:03This is Project Runway All-Stars.
01:07Hello, designers.
01:17Hi.
01:18Hi.
01:19Six of you.
01:20How do you feel?
01:21Great.
01:22We're down to six designers for this challenge,
01:26and that means no more safe, which I'm okay with,
01:29because I don't like being safe.
01:31Over the last few seasons of Project Runway All-Stars,
01:34we've often combined fashion with philanthropy.
01:38This year is no exception.
01:40To tell you more, please welcome the founder of N Philanthropy,
01:44Yvonne Naomi.
01:50Thank you, Alyssa.
01:51N Philanthropy is a women's contemporary apparel company
01:55that gives back 10% of our net profits towards fighting
01:58pediatric cancer through the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles,
02:01whose groundbreaking research impacts children worldwide.
02:04I think this is an awesome cause.
02:06Anything to help the kids and the community is so amazing.
02:11Our N Phil girl is modern, sophisticated, but she's also a badass
02:16and lives life to the fullest.
02:18We like to call her a rebel with a cause.
02:21Mmm, that sounds like a challenge to me.
02:24Designers, we want you to create a fashion-forward summer look
02:27that is sophisticated with a badass edge.
02:31Badass and sophisticated.
02:32Those descriptive words are exactly the girl I designed for,
02:35so I'm excited about it.
02:37The winning designer will work directly with us
02:39to design an exclusive look that will be incorporated
02:42into the N Philanthropy summer line with all the profits
02:46going to Children's Cancer Research at Children's Hospital
02:49Los Angeles.
02:50Nice.
02:51I am really excited about this challenge because the prize
02:54goes to benefit cancer research.
02:56I personally worked in cancer research for three years
02:59before I was on Project Runway.
03:01So your mood budget this week is $250 each.
03:06You will have one day in the workroom.
03:08Yvonne will be joining Zanna to mentor you, and I'll see you
03:11back here on the runway tomorrow.
03:13Good luck.
03:14Bye.
03:15This week's challenge is directed to this badass, sophisticated woman.
03:28That's my aesthetic as a fashion designer.
03:31I started designing these bell sleeves, and I think I'm going to make
03:35separate versus a dress.
03:37When we think about a rebel with a cause, Josephine Baker is like my ultimate rebel with a cause.
03:44She's kind of like a rock star from like the flapper era.
03:47I kind of want to use that as a starting point.
03:49I am sketching this leather strap idea that I want to do.
03:53I want to play with like the illusion of nudity.
03:56I'm doing some really intricate detailing with the straps on the top part of my dress.
04:01I know that that's going to be my selling point for this.
04:03I was thinking like block.
04:05I'm sketching kind of like a rework of a power suit.
04:09So I'm doing some pants, but I want to do them really flowy to like offset the really structured
04:13vest that I'm going to do.
04:15I feel like my target customer is a badass, and I'd like to think I'm a badass.
04:20So I'm just going to design something that I'd like.
04:25So the look I'm sketching is an oversized pant, like genie pant, with a bathing suit and
04:30a little crop jacket.
04:32It's a little out there.
04:33It's a little dramatic.
04:34But hey, my girl loves to be like that.
04:36All right, people.
04:37Let's get to shopping.
04:38Let's do it.
04:39I want to go for a silver color palette.
04:43I'm thinking that it's going to be all metallics combined, brocades.
04:47And I'm going to do my usual Dom signature of mixing things together to make something
04:52cool.
04:53Let's pull both of them.
04:54When I think of summer fabrics, traditionally they are cottons.
04:56They're lightweight.
04:57But I personally do not like to restrict myself with the fabrics that I use season to season.
05:02I think of it as just kind of like a look.
05:05More vibrant colors, not black.
05:07With the combination of rebel and badass, I think there will be a lot of leathers in
05:13the workroom.
05:14But it's summertime, so it should be vibrant colors versus dark colors.
05:19Five minutes!
05:20Five minutes!
05:21Yeah, definitely all of this.
05:24When I think of summer, because I'm from Massachusetts, I think of seersucker.
05:29You go to the Cape, you go to Boston, like everybody is wearing a seersucker.
05:34So I really want to take this idea and deconstruct the hell out of it and make it look badass.
05:39I think that mixing this preppy feel with this very like military wide leg pants shape will
05:47really help balance the like badass with the sophisticated.
05:51Thank you!
05:52Thank you!
05:53Bye!
06:02Back to work!
06:04I am very happy to say that I was in the top last week and I won the week before that.
06:10So I feel like I'm finally getting in a place where the judges are recognizing that I deserve
06:15to be here.
06:16Are you going to do pants or a skirt?
06:17Skirt.
06:18Skirt.
06:19Yeah.
06:20And the skirt I'm going to save today and I'm going to try to give myself five hours
06:22to do the top.
06:23That's the goal.
06:24I'm using leather in a dark oxblood, which I think is really fresh and cool for the summer.
06:29Yeah, so I'm going to like play around and kind of make like a strappy kind of print
06:34with like a nude illusion underneath.
06:35And then this is the pant or skirt?
06:37A skirt, yeah.
06:38I'm kind of trying to dedicate half of my time to the top of this.
06:41The skirt has such a cool fabric that I don't have to do too much with it.
06:45So I'm putting all of my effort into the top.
06:48That's beast.
06:49That's a piece?
06:50Beast.
06:51That's beast?
06:52Yeah.
06:53Aw, that's cute.
06:54Asha started the competition at the bottom and safe, but she has two wins under her belt
06:59now.
07:00So she may be a solid threat because this is the perfect time to get the judges' attention.
07:06Yeah.
07:07Yeah.
07:08Well, I originally sketched out a dress, but I think I want to do a pant.
07:13I think I look more chic.
07:14Yeah.
07:15So I think that's what I'm going to do.
07:16Where's the white?
07:17The white going on the bottom?
07:18Yeah, the pants going to be just white.
07:20All white.
07:21The hardest part and the most time-consuming part for my look is going to be the top.
07:26My first idea for this design was creating a bizarre and leather top with a nice silhouette.
07:32At this point in the competition, you can't make any mistakes.
07:36So in this case, my top needs to be made to perfection and my pants as well.
07:41I'm making a genie pant.
07:44I want to make it a more structured genie pant so the drape on the sides have to be smartly
07:49placed because it can go wrong really fast.
07:52I'm taking a risk on the fabric.
07:54I'm taking a risk on the shape of this pant.
07:56It stands out.
07:57This pant isn't something normal or basic.
07:59It's something different.
08:00These pants are like craziness.
08:02I'm just like a touch afraid, like 5% afraid they're going to say it's too much.
08:07I have no other choice.
08:09I have to go forward with this because that's all I got.
08:12I think that the pants look a little crazy.
08:15It's definitely a risk.
08:17It's one of those things that like the judges are either going to hate or they're going to
08:20love and rave about.
08:21Everyone's bottom line is they came in this show to win the end prize.
08:26It's not Project One where all stars three of us win.
08:29No, it's one person that wins this.
08:31There is no room for error or any kind of screw up.
08:38Coming up on Project Runway All Stars.
08:40My challenge was not to create a jumpsuit for a breastfeeding mother.
08:44It's just a little too many things happening at one time.
08:47Less disco banana.
08:49I don't know what that means, but I thought it was hilarious.
08:52What are you doing?
08:53I'm making like a dress where the bottom is going to be lame and neoprene.
09:05And then I'm mixing all these brocades and ribbon and stuff for the top.
09:09It's going to be all metallics combined.
09:12And for the bottom part of the dress, I'm going to do some quilting to give it this texture.
09:16I keep thinking how to make this skirt look lighter because after quilting this lame, it looks very heavy.
09:22I know it's light, but visually I'm having a problem with it.
09:26I love this print.
09:32This is so damn cool.
09:33Thanks.
09:34I'm excited to see what you do, girl.
09:36I'm making some really drapey silk charmeuse pants with an awesome splatter paint print.
09:43And then I'm going to do like a really cool structured vest.
09:46And I'm thinking I'm going to like paint part of it.
09:49I think the most important aspect is the vest.
09:52So I really have to make sure that I get the hand painting right.
09:55But I have to make sure that I don't like finish the vest and then I go to paint it and I it up.
10:05My pants are done.
10:06I also got this yellow tweed fabric that I decided to do a jacket in.
10:11Something to maybe tone down the pant and make it a little bit more sophisticated.
10:15My favorite kind of badass is the kind that doesn't take no for an answer.
10:27And when I think of badass, I always think of a jumpsuit.
10:30It takes some guts to wear one.
10:32Oh, they're stripes.
10:35Oh, you didn't see the stripes?
10:37No.
10:38I like Searsucker because I don't think it's obvious.
10:41I think that it's really easy to make something black look badass.
10:44But Searsucker, it's like a challenge.
10:47You really have to work at designing the hell out of it in order to make it look badass.
10:53Mommy says I have to wear one of her old suits.
10:55I'll show her.
10:56What?
10:57I don't understand Sam's woman.
11:01He designs for like 15 year olds.
11:04Searsucker, it's so unexpected.
11:07Are you kidding me?
11:08Searsucker.
11:09Badass.
11:10Come on.
11:11I'm done.
11:12Hi designers.
11:13Hi.
11:14I'm really excited to be joined by Yvonne this week and we're going to mentor you together.
11:25So for a long time fashion has been known for its glamour and sometimes some people would
11:30say its success.
11:32Lately though there's been a definite cultural shift and fashion is very well known for philanthropy.
11:38Yvonne are you ready?
11:39I'm ready Zanna.
11:40Alright, let's start with Emily.
11:42Hi Emily.
11:43Hi Zanna.
11:44What are you working on?
11:45Well, the first thing I thought of when I thought of this badass philanthropist.
11:49I wanted to do like a new spin on like a power suit.
11:52So I decided to do like really structured vest and then kind of offset it with like fully
11:57flowy pant.
11:58I would make it a little more feminine in the neckline but I wouldn't do the painted and
12:02that and it's just a little too many things happening at one time.
12:06Simplify it a little bit.
12:07It definitely has badass.
12:08You are the badass chick that's left in this room.
12:11However, it's quite heavy and this is a summer look.
12:14Maybe I'd make them into shorts.
12:18That would be great.
12:19Alright.
12:20Thanks so much.
12:22In the past few challenges Emily's been producing really good work.
12:26She is kind of starting to pull from something within herself that's purely Emily and you
12:31can definitely see it in her clothing.
12:33Hi Asha.
12:34Hello.
12:35What are you working on my dear?
12:37I'm playing around with this print and some textural things with the different straps
12:42and I'm thinking about attaching a longer skirt which once I figure out the top I will work on.
12:48I think that the color palette you used is gorgeous but it reads a little fall winter.
12:53Okay.
12:54With the burgundies and the browns and it's a little dark.
12:56You've got to have fashion forward, sophisticated and with an edge.
12:59You are that girl to do that.
13:01You need to have something that's light and airy and feels upbeat instead of heavy.
13:06Gotcha.
13:07I will.
13:08Thank you so much.
13:09Good luck.
13:10I think Asha is going too much into the badass part and forgetting about the sophistication
13:16side.
13:17She might be the one in trouble this week.
13:19Hi Dom.
13:20Hi.
13:21How are you?
13:22What are you working on?
13:23I actually worked in biomedical research and cancer research for three years before I
13:27won Project Her Way.
13:28Wonderful.
13:29I have a close connection to it and all the stainless steel and rubber gloves.
13:33So I decided to do a really cool like silver dress and play around with some of the brocades
13:38with making like an interesting texture up top.
13:40Mm-hmm.
13:41And I'm still playing around with this fabric that I use for the skirt.
13:43I am thinking about the length taking it up a bit.
13:47It's a little too long for summer.
13:49I would say take it to the knee.
13:50That to me is where it should be at for summer.
13:53Okay.
13:54For me it's so sophisticated right now that you're losing some of that Dom edge.
13:58Okay.
13:59I'll try.
14:00Good luck my dear.
14:01Good luck.
14:03Thanks Dom.
14:04Dom's dress is really strange to me.
14:07This is the first time in this entire competition that I really just liked something that she's
14:12done.
14:13Hi Keeney.
14:14Hi.
14:15What are you working on?
14:16I wanted to really go a little bit more.
14:19So I wanted to create a different silhouette in the pant, more of a genie pant.
14:23There is an awful lot going on here.
14:25Definitely the fabric on the pant is beautiful and it's a lot going on already.
14:29So just tone it down.
14:31Less disco banana, more sophisticated coca.
14:36Okay.
14:37Can do.
14:38Thank you Cindy.
14:39Good luck.
14:40Good luck.
14:41Disco banana.
14:42I don't know what that means but I thought it was hilarious.
14:45I actually think the pants look awesome.
14:47Hi Ken.
14:48Hi.
14:49Good to see you again.
14:50How's it going?
14:51What are you making for us?
14:52The inspiration of that rebel, badass, sophisticated woman.
14:55That's the girl I love to dress.
14:57So I have to nail this.
14:59I was on the bottom last week and I did not like that at all.
15:02So I wanted to create a nice tailored pant.
15:05For the top, it seems a little schizophrenic to me.
15:11My pants are absolutely fabulous.
15:13I love them.
15:14But I'm not worried about that.
15:15I'm really worried about this damn top that's not finished.
15:18Make sure it looks cool.
15:20Make sure it looks sophisticated.
15:21And if you're going with this wide pant, then have something a bit sexier on the top.
15:25Right?
15:26That's what I'm battling with.
15:27Yeah.
15:28Just make sure to make it edgy.
15:29Okay.
15:30Good luck.
15:32What are we doing?
15:33Tell us all.
15:34So I decided to do like a pilot's jumpsuit and just make it a little bit more glamorous.
15:38You know, open up the leg, open up the back.
15:41Just give it a little bit more like ba-ba-ba-boom.
15:43This is very much your aesthetic.
15:45Right.
15:46I just don't want you to give them something that they maybe even vaguely have seen before from you.
15:51It looks a little safe to me.
15:53A little bit Hamptons.
15:54Yes.
15:55Spicer up, badass up.
15:56Will do.
15:57Thanks, Sam.
15:58Good luck.
15:59Sam's look is a hot-ass mess, honestly.
16:02When I see Sissucker, I don't see badass.
16:05And he's just doing a normal jumpsuit.
16:08Designers, this week the prize is another great opportunity to give you all exposure for your business.
16:15But also, it's an amazing opportunity for you guys all to give back.
16:19Right, Yvonne?
16:20Right.
16:21You are all winners now.
16:22It is an even playing field.
16:24Who's gonna get it this week?
16:26Yay!
16:27Yay!
16:28I'm here.
16:30Fight amongst yourselves.
16:31Good luck.
16:32Good luck.
16:33Bye.
16:35Bye.
16:36You have to come apart anyways.
16:39You might as well come apart now.
16:41It is always a risk to tear up a garment with like two hours left in the day.
16:47But if I'm doing something that Xana isn't sure about, then I definitely know that I need to rethink my plan of action.
16:54I would rather take this huge risk and do something completely new than send out something that's safe and boring.
17:02Hey.
17:03What up, bro?
17:04I need to get it fitted on you for the length because they really want it to be like summer and we need to take that up a little bit.
17:15I am having difficulty reconciling the skirt with summer.
17:19So I'm definitely gonna make this shorter to give it some lightness.
17:23I'm gonna take it up a little bit.
17:24I think with that slit, we gotta keep that a little long.
17:28Xana says that I need to lighten it up.
17:31So I'm going to crop the pants into culottes.
17:34Let me just cut this open real quick.
17:36I need to make sure that I hem these culottes perfectly.
17:40The vest is sort of halfway done.
17:43I'm not really worried about the vest.
17:45I'm really confident with my look.
17:47Yes.
17:49I love the way that my model looks in the strappy part of my dress.
17:53And I think that I'm onto something really good.
17:56It's just a lot of work that still needs to be done.
17:58All right.
17:59We gotta make sure this matches up.
18:01I put the pant on her and it's really fashion forward for me.
18:07And I think it's something I've never seen before.
18:10Yeah, I think it's cool.
18:11So we're gonna take all the good jewelry.
18:14The Bobble Bar jewelry wall has such great accessories.
18:18My go-to is usually the really minimalist rings or bracelets that Bobble Bar makes.
18:24They just look really cool.
18:26Yeah, maybe we'll do like delicate rings on here.
18:28Okay.
18:29Yeah.
18:30All right, cool.
18:31All right.
18:32See you tomorrow.
18:33Bye, guys.
18:35Bye.
18:36Bye.
18:41I have no idea if I am going to be able to get my look done this evening.
18:46I have to basically redesign my entire look.
18:50So I start draping almost like a deconstructed tuxedo.
18:54Something that like a rock and roll musician would wear maybe to like the VMAs.
18:59It's technically still gonna be a jumpsuit.
19:01It's just going to be a very different take on a jumpsuit.
19:04Like the complete opposite of the kind of jumpsuit that I was going for.
19:09This jumpsuit looks like a baby carrier attached to some pants and a tube top.
19:15The challenge was not to create a jumpsuit for a breastfeeding mother.
19:19That's the winners.
19:20Keeni, what are you doing?
19:21My jacket.
19:22What color?
19:23Black.
19:24I decided to do an ombre effect on it and just dye this whole bottom of the jacket.
19:31It makes it a little bit more different, not just a bright yellow jacket.
19:36It kind of puts like a rocker edge to it.
19:38It looks green.
19:39Yeah.
19:40Bitch, you put lining in it.
19:42That's blue lines.
19:45I just walk away.
19:49Zanna doesn't want it to go down the runway looking like a disco banana.
19:52I don't want that either, so I have to really watch my editing eye and take out some things.
19:57It could be a bit much.
19:58You have so many options.
20:00I just have to make sure she looks badass.
20:04Asha, I do not like my top.
20:06Why not?
20:06I mean, in my opinion, my pants are badass.
20:10And that top looks cheap as .
20:13It's the end of the day in the workroom.
20:15I'm in the process of editing my look, and I'm trying to gather my thoughts.
20:19I'm not one of those people that lie about ugly like it's cute.
20:23If it's ugly, it's ugly.
20:25This top looks horrible.
20:27It's so ugly.
20:28And the last time I created something ugly on Project Runway, it sent my ass home.
20:32So I cannot go through with this design.
20:35All right, everyone, that's time.
20:37Got to go.
20:40I need my bed.
20:41Coming up on Project Runway All-Stars.
20:46Damn, it does not work.
20:50I don't see Ken here very long.
20:53This is for a sophisticated badass, not for a drag queen.
20:57This is for a drag queen.
21:03Hi, dress.
21:05It's the morning of the runway.
21:07I'm still working on this top.
21:10So I'm going to focus on the bus cups, get them sewn up, sew it onto the bottom part.
21:14And it's not working out exactly how I want it to work out.
21:17So now that puts the pressure on.
21:19And I really have to think about editing this look to where it could possibly work.
21:24You think I should just sew the bus cup together?
21:26Uh-huh.
21:27And then just leave the extra seam allowance and then throw it.
21:29Take it.
21:30Yeah, yeah, yeah.
21:31I don't see Ken here very long.
21:33I think I can feel him kind of drifting away with his construction every week.
21:38You stressing for his time?
21:41I'm always stressing for time.
21:42I think me too.
21:44Bonnie and Clyde are going to be the last one sewing.
21:46Yes.
21:47We got some work to do this morning.
21:49I'm going to finish up embroidery.
21:51I'm doing like this embroidery all over the sleeve.
21:53I like the look that I made.
21:55I do have issues with the bottom of the dress.
21:59I still think that it looks too heavy.
22:01But I do love the top of my dress.
22:02I love the manipulation that I did with the different brocades and all the detailing with the embroidery.
22:07Beautiful.
22:09Cute.
22:10I think my model looks badass.
22:13I would wear that outfit.
22:15I really want to like steal the culottes.
22:18You look so cool.
22:20Emily's look is badass.
22:23I don't know who's in her mind telling her to create these shapes and silhouettes, but I love it.
22:29Go see you walk.
22:29After I'm done dip dyeing the jacket, I tried on my model with the pant.
22:34The pant is a lot already, so I have to somehow tame it down and make it look really sophisticated and cool.
22:40I don't know.
22:41I'm still in defense about the jacket.
22:43Keeney's weird iguana genie pants make his model's ass look three feet wide.
22:49This is for a sophisticated badass, not for a drag queen.
22:54Are you ready to go to Schwarzkopf hair studio?
22:56Yeah.
22:56Come on, let's go.
22:59She's wearing this really bodycon dress.
23:01She looks very sexy.
23:02Super ultra polished.
23:03Exactly.
23:04Very polished.
23:04I wanted to like take the fringe down and like cover the eye like completely.
23:09It's almost like a visor, right?
23:10Yeah.
23:11Like a cool like hair visor.
23:12I don't know if you can see, girl, but we'll try it.
23:17Maybe a little bit of like something to make it just look a little bit more bad girl.
23:22We use a little I do and amethyst in a hard rock and roll badass kind of way.
23:28Maybe like kind of a sun-kissed bronzy smoky eye.
23:30We're going to use gelato swirl illuminator and ballerina.
23:3530 minutes, you guys.
23:37There we go.
23:38Let me just look at you from the front.
23:40My model looks amazing when I put the final look on her.
23:43I think that's pretty badass.
23:44I hope that the judges will agree.
23:46There we go.
23:46Lovely.
23:47Perfect.
23:47Not the most well-made dress.
23:49Definitely not.
23:50You have to have a certain hand to be able to manipulate something.
23:52She might be gone.
23:55And that is going to snap.
23:57My model looks fantastic in this jumpsuit.
24:00I am seriously like patting myself on the back right now.
24:04When I think of seersucker fabric, I think of baby clothes.
24:10Sam's look, I don't get it.
24:11Maybe this is the cracking point where he will not make it and be on the bottom and be sent home.
24:16I am going to find, like, a sandal to go with it.
24:21I head over to the Chinese laundry shoe wall.
24:23They have the perfect freaking pair.
24:24Love them.
24:28Five minutes, you guys.
24:29I'm like, damn, it does not work.
24:35It is missing something.
24:36And I'm like, oh, my God, they're going to get me for not creating this badass rebel look.
24:41So I grabbed the same material that my pant was made out of, cut a huge square.
24:47I just scratched my top.
24:48It's just so small.
24:49Draped it on her with bows and details with the drape.
24:55And the worked.
24:59Oh, Ken.
25:00Beautiful.
25:03I have never seen anyone make something in five minutes.
25:09That top is gorgeous.
25:10Okay, you guys.
25:12It's time.
25:12Let's go to the runway.
25:13Let's go.
25:14Let's go.
25:15Oh, my God.
25:16I can't wait to see this.
25:19Coming up on Project Runway All-Stars.
25:22I think she looks great.
25:23She is serving it.
25:24This stage of the competition, I want people to be taking risks.
25:27I just don't see it being badass.
25:30The length is putting me off a lot.
25:32She walks just fine.
25:35The winner of Project Runway All-Stars will receive the opportunity to design an exclusive
25:40line of jewelry for bobblebar.com.
25:43The final say in fashion jewelry.
25:45A capsule footwear collection by Chinese Laundry.
25:48A fashion spread in Marie Claire in a position at the magazine as contributing editor.
25:54From Brother Sewing and Embroidery, a complete sewing studio to launch their line.
25:58And to elevate their business and build their brand, a cash prize of $100,000.
26:08Hi, designers.
26:09Hi.
26:10Hello.
26:11The hair's like a thing.
26:13Your challenge this week was to create a fashion-forward summer look that was sophisticated, but has
26:19a badass edge.
26:21Let's meet the judges.
26:22First, co-founder and designer of Marquesa, Georgina Chapman.
26:26Hello.
26:26Next, one of the most iconic names in American fashion, Isaac Mizrahi.
26:35Hi, kids.
26:37Our first guest judge is an actress synonymous with New York.
26:41Her film career includes Goodfellas and Bullets Over Broadway.
26:45She's now starring in the hit new comedy, Younger.
26:49Please welcome Debbie Mazar.
26:54Our next guest's label has quickly grown into one of the hottest properties in fashion.
26:59Please welcome acclaimed fashion designer and Project Runway judge, Zach Posen.
27:05This week's winner will be designing a piece for the N Philanthropy Summer Line, with all
27:14proceeds going to Children's Hospital Los Angeles.
27:17It is a great cause.
27:19So let's see what you created.
27:20Good luck.
27:23Yes, ma'am.
27:28Even though this wasn't my original idea, let's keep in mind I just put this together last
27:33minute, so I wish I had a little more time to finish construction, but overall, I think
27:38the ideal and concept is there.
27:49The print is really nice.
27:50Yeah.
27:51I love it.
27:52I think that it's beautiful.
27:53I think that it's such a cool take on this challenge.
27:57She looks pretty badass.
27:59And it's definitely me, 100%.
28:01Hey, Emily, that's sick.
28:12Dang, she can't even see.
28:17I love it.
28:18I think she looks great.
28:19I think she does a really good job walking, even though she can't see.
28:25I'm really happy.
28:26I think this is my favorite one that I've done so far.
28:28Very cute.
28:29I'm really happy.
28:29I'm so happy that I decided to shred that initial jumpsuit because this look really is badass.
28:48My model looks sexy and sophisticated with just a touch of naughtiness.
29:08She looks so sexy.
29:09Looking at a six-foot model, that slit's not that high wearing flags.
29:13But then when she's on a runway, wearing ankle strap, heels,
29:17that slit is too high.
29:23But I think overall as a design, it looks great.
29:32I love this on that.
29:33Gorgeous.
29:34I am so happy that I scrapped the jacket and went with these pants
29:39and kept it really clean and chic looking.
29:42They look frickin' amazing.
29:44I just love the shape.
29:47I think it looks really awesome.
29:53Designers, thank you for your work this week.
29:55This week, you will all receive a critique.
30:00One of you is the winner of this week's challenge,
30:02and one of you will be eliminated tonight.
30:04Hi, Sam.
30:05Hi, Alyssa.
30:06Tell us about your fashion forward summer look.
30:07I have this sort of like story in my head of this girl whose mother is like forcing her to go to this like party in the Hamptons.
30:19She's making her wear one of her like old suits.
30:22So she like gets this idea to like cut them all up and like make this like really sexy jumpsuit out of them.
30:28I really like it because you took one of my favorite fabrics, which is Seersucker, and reinterpreted it and kind of gave it almost like a baby Bjorn kind of a look to it.
30:38I like this very much, but I've just wondered whether that front piece needed a touch more movement in it.
30:45The fact that you showed it with a flat shoe to me is genius.
30:48I just I'm so sick of everything always being always so about let's sell the sex.
30:52I think it's great.
30:53I love it.
30:54I want it.
30:55What is the design inspiration here besides I want a skinny pant with sort of a cool summer top?
31:00Because that's not enough for me.
31:01The sort of story comes from the fact that I had to kind of scrap my first look.
31:06So this was like a save?
31:07Yeah.
31:09My only criticism is I don't really relate badass to Seersucker.
31:14I don't think you went far enough.
31:16Gotcha.
31:17Hi, Ken.
31:18Tell us about your sophisticated summer look.
31:20I wanted to play up on the fact of a woman going to a former event, but still a little on the rebellious side.
31:27I like this, Ken.
31:28There's a take on the idea of this summer badass.
31:33The one thing I really feel lets this down is the belt.
31:36It looks out of cheap leather or something.
31:38The top of the halter for me is feeling a little bit medical.
31:42So thick.
31:43It's making me like get like a neck issue.
31:46I don't think it's fashion forward and I just don't see it being badass.
31:50Okay.
31:51I will say the length is putting me off a lot.
31:53For a white jumpsuit and I get like it's this kind of decadent thing where you let white drag
31:57in the ground, but it's a miss.
31:59It was purposely done and she walks just fine.
32:04Asha.
32:05My favorite rebel with a cause is Josephine Baker.
32:08So I immediately use that as a jump off point for this look.
32:11I'm just confused, especially when you say Josephine Baker.
32:15She's so playful and I think what we've got here is sort of quite a strict buttoned up feel of almost a woman going to the office.
32:22Okay.
32:23I like this dress.
32:24I think the neck is gorgeous.
32:25I think how the neck goes into the back is beautiful.
32:29It's supposed to be a summer dress and it feels to me the coloration of it and the whole idea of the metallic and the beading and the suede.
32:37It does not give me summer.
32:39It feels a little dated.
32:41This is feeling a bit Brigitte Nielsen, 80s.
32:44I mean, I want to maybe wear it for my husband in the bedroom, maybe cut the bottom off.
32:48But I think that you're trying really hard to be badass and I don't think you need to try so hard.
32:53Thank you so much.
32:54Emily.
32:55I wanted her to be the girl that goes to that like summertime party and everybody looks at her and is like, oh my God, I want to be her.
33:01I want to be her.
33:02I love everything about this.
33:05There's a beautiful dichotomy between like a little bit masculine toughness versus the femininity.
33:10I love the deconstructed nature of it and I also love the innocent quality.
33:15I think it must be that short.
33:17This sort of gives me rebellious school girl right now, which I absolutely love.
33:22Be careful with the styling with this shoe.
33:24It almost makes it a little bit trying too much.
33:27There are things about this I don't get, but that turn me on.
33:30It makes me feel old fashioned.
33:33If you can make me feel like an old geezer, you've done your work.
33:37Dom, tell us about your fashion forward summer look.
33:40The thing that resonated with me the most was the prize and how it's going to benefit cancer research.
33:46That really hits home to me because that's what I did for three years before I came to Project Runway.
33:50Well, I love your inspiration. I think it's fantastic.
33:53I think it's really elegant.
33:54I just would like to see a little more shape in the center.
33:58To me, the slit is just a little high.
34:01She doesn't want to be the girl that shows everything at the party and gives like a good show.
34:06Yeah.
34:07I think the top to me looks like sort of the wrong side of aluminum foil.
34:11I just think the skirt part for me looks very weighted in comparison to the top.
34:18Hi, Keeney. Tell us about your sophisticated summer look.
34:21I got inspired by a girl that sits by the pool but doesn't really go in the pool.
34:26She's a girl that wants to stand out within a crowd, I guess.
34:29I like the 50s throwback. You know, I think it's really kooky.
34:33I just love it. I love what you've done with the sides.
34:36I like how skinny it gets in the light.
34:38Yeah. You remind me of a fabulous insect.
34:40I think she looks great. She is serving it.
34:43I'm so perplexed by this as just what I meant to think about this.
34:47But thank you for that because at this stage of the competition, I want people to be taking risks.
34:53You know, it says summer. It says edgy. That is some really ballsy stuff that you brought today.
34:59Designers, thank you so much for all your work this week.
35:02The judges and I clearly have our work cut out for us, but we're going to deliberate.
35:06And you guys can have a seat in the backstage lounge.
35:18That's an interesting runway.
35:19Very interesting as always.
35:21Yeah, because I never try and guess who's on top or bottom because every time I'm wrong.
35:27At this point, good is going to go home. Great is going to stay.
35:33Let's start with our successful designs for the week. Let's discuss Sam.
35:38I liked Sam's. It had an anemic quality to me though.
35:41I think it felt a little bit unresolved.
35:44He did say it was a save and it felt like a little bit of a save.
35:48It ended up looking like the homecoming queen with the sash a bit for me, but I thought it was really modern and fresh.
35:54To me, it had no runway sort of pizzazz.
35:57I thought it was definitely really the most summery thing up here.
36:01Let's move on to Emily because I was really excited by her this week.
36:07I just feel this week she came into her and it gave us something so unique and such a different thought from everybody else.
36:13There was something almost like tongue-in-cheek kind of sleazy about it that made it so divine.
36:19It was a little punk.
36:21It was edgy, but it had a very lovely femininity to it.
36:26Let's move on to Keeney.
36:28As I said before, I was a little perplexed by this, but the more I studied it, the more I loved it.
36:33He's giving you like happiness. He's giving you Carnaval, Brazil.
36:37He surprises you week after week, but now he's showing us that he has a kind of a wit, too.
36:43Because he's a craftsperson, his clothing has sold.
36:49Let's move on to the least successful looks this week.
36:52I want to start with Ken.
36:54In a white jumpsuit, your tush better look great.
36:56She was getting a wedgie and I feel like you have to be very careful with a jumpsuit.
37:01In the top six of designers, you send down a white jumpsuit that we've seen a million times.
37:07It just feels a little bit like a slap in the face.
37:09And then we kind of like started giving him criticism and he looked like steam was coming out of his ears.
37:14And I hated that because I'm not here.
37:16It's not easy for me to be the biggest bitch in the world, okay?
37:19It's not. Really, Isaac?
37:20Really, okay? It's not.
37:22If you're going to be on this show, you need to be able to take the criticism.
37:25I do agree with that.
37:26Let's talk about Dom.
37:30Dom let us down this week, I felt, you know.
37:33She did.
37:34She didn't like the dress.
37:35Felt heavy.
37:36Yeah.
37:37Felt itchy.
37:38It felt very labelled, it felt very heavy, and it felt very overthought.
37:41The whole sort of bohemian butterfly feeling of it, even though it's the wrong fabric for that, was so lovely.
37:47I almost wish she had had a skirt that had movement to it all the way down.
37:50And then it would have just given us something fresh.
37:53I feel the same way about Asha's look, actually.
37:55I wish Asha's dress was flowier.
37:58This fabric couldn't flow.
37:59If you're going to go with the harness, then you have to juxtapose it with something light.
38:04But to put it with that fabric and that shaped dress.
38:07It's just so moderate, the whole thing.
38:09If somebody's going to go there, go really edgy, bring up the harness to the mat, then do Hannibal Lecter thrown in there as a reference.
38:14Right.
38:15Not with that dress.
38:16So we know what we're going to do?
38:17We do.
38:18And we all agree?
38:19Mm-hmm.
38:20Okay.
38:21Let's bring them back out.
38:22Designers, one of you is the winner of this week's challenge, and another designer will be eliminated tonight.
38:37Kini, Emily, and Sam, you received the highest scores of the week.
38:51Sam, good job.
38:52You're safe.
38:53You can leave the runway.
38:57Thank you all.
38:58Thank you all.
39:02Kini and Emily, one of you will be designing for N Philanthropy.
39:07The winning designer is...
39:11Emily!
39:12Yay!
39:16We loved what you did this week.
39:19And well done to you too, Kini.
39:22You can leave the runway.
39:24Good job.
39:25Congratulations.
39:26Thank you so much.
39:27I loved my piece.
39:28I was really proud of it.
39:30It was just really nice to win.
39:32To be able to create a piece and have all the proceeds go to help children's cancer.
39:37Hi.
39:38Hi, Emily.
39:39Congratulations.
39:40Oh, thank you.
39:42You did a great job.
39:43Thank you so much.
39:44I loved, loved your design.
39:45I am so excited that I'm going to be working with you.
39:48Me too.
39:50It's going to be a lot of fun.
39:52And now to the least successful designs.
39:55Ken, you had a low score, but you are safe.
40:01You can leave the runway.
40:03Which leaves Dom and Asha.
40:07Dom, we wanted a summer look and you selected a fabric that felt thick and hot.
40:12And there was just way too much going on in your design.
40:15Asha.
40:16We asked for a fashion forward design, but yours felt stuck in the past.
40:21The designer eliminated tonight is...
40:25Asha.
40:26And that means, Dom, you can stay in the competition and you can leave the runway.
40:42Asha, thank you so much for joining us on All Stars.
40:47We loved having you.
40:49As you know, now it's time to leave the runway.
40:52Yes.
40:53But I need to hug you.
40:54Oh, yeah.
40:55Bye, you gorgeous soul.
40:58Take care.
40:59Thank you so much.
41:00Bye.
41:01Bye.
41:02Bye, Asha.
41:03No one be sad.
41:04My body of work from the first episode to this episode has really shown how much I've grown
41:15as a designer.
41:16Bye, Asha.
41:17And I'm very proud of the growth I've had on this show.
41:25Next on Project Runway All Stars.
41:28Hi, designers.
41:29This is the Avant Garde Challenge.
41:31Yay!
41:32Our guest judge this week, it's boy George.
41:36You've designed a rainbow dress.
41:38That is a cliche.
41:39Okay.
41:40You rest on this pretty .
41:42I'm not talking about your garments.
41:44You're a liar.
41:45You're a snake.
41:46I don't care what you believe.
41:48I think it's a beautiful piece of art.
41:50The idea gives strength to this dress.
41:52This is pure Grace Jones.
41:54Isaac, do you agree with George?
41:56No.
41:57I'm sorry.
41:58Avant got a clue.
42:01How is it?
42:02I think you're perfectly good.
42:03I'm sorry.
42:04I'm sorry.
42:05I'm sorry.
42:06I'm sorry.
42:07My fear.
42:08C4änse.
42:09You're a liar.
42:10I'm sorry.
42:11I'll have you.
42:12I'll have you.
42:13I'm sorry.
42:14I'll have you.
42:15Hi.
42:16I'm sorry.
