00:01Previously on Project Runway All-Stars...
00:03You're all one step away from a shot at the Project Runway All-Stars title.
00:08We have a guest you may recognize.
00:11Hello, designers!
00:14I'm overwhelmed. This is my first time designing of print.
00:17I had a chance to look at what you've been working on.
00:20The execution wasn't 100%.
00:22You know print's inside out. They will be expecting great things from you.
00:26I know.
00:30It's just so flattering on her.
00:33The way you've handled those sleeves is really beautiful.
00:36I love the idea of this asymmetrical wrap dress.
00:39The pleating is so beautiful.
00:41The winner of this challenge is...
00:44Dawn.
00:45Yay!
00:46Thank you!
00:47And Keeney, you also have a place in the final.
00:50The designer eliminated tonight is...
00:54Sam.
00:55This is Project Runway All-Stars.
01:00We're gonna get our challenge here.
01:05Oh my gosh.
01:06What is our thing?
01:07It just disappeared right now.
01:08Alyssa has us meet her at the new One World Trade Center.
01:13Oh my gosh.
01:14Wow.
01:15This view is amazing.
01:16Oh my gosh.
01:17Oh my gosh.
01:18Hi.
01:19Hi.
01:20Hi.
01:21Hi.
01:22It's a surreal moment and I can see the finish line and I can see the winning prize right
01:27there.
01:28It's so close.
01:29Congratulations.
01:30You've made it to the Project Runway All-Stars finale.
01:37We are at One World Observatory on the 102nd floor of the new One World Trade Center where
01:45you can see forever.
01:47This is the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere.
01:50Now there are a million things to experience in New York City and this view is one in a million.
01:57And it's the starting point for your final challenge.
02:01One World Observatory is all about optimism and forward thinking.
02:06We want you to be the architect of your own future by creating a collection that draws on your experiences of New York City.
02:14It could be the fashion, the culture, the pulse of the city, anything.
02:20On your Project Runway season, you had weeks to produce a final collection, but you're all stars now.
02:26So you will only get four days.
02:29Oh Lord.
02:30Four days to make these collections, which is insanity.
02:35You'll be able to sketch here at One World Observatory.
02:38Then you'll be shopping at Mood with your budget of $3,000 each.
02:45So let's see, you have your challenge, your inspiration, your budget.
02:52What's left?
02:54How many pieces are we making?
02:56Yeah.
02:57Oh yes.
02:58Let's bring out your models.
03:07Oh my God.
03:08Army.
03:09I know.
03:10There's a huge army of models marches in behind Alyssa and I'm like, oh Lord, what's happening?
03:16What?
03:17Here are 24 of New York's hottest new models.
03:21That means you have eight each.
03:23So we are looking for an eight piece collection.
03:26And you've probably noticed three rather handsome male models.
03:31That's because they'll each be wearing one of your looks.
03:35The judges and I will see you on the runway in four days.
03:38Lots of luck.
03:46I love New York City.
03:47Coming from Hawaii, it's so laid back and I love the fast paced world that it is here.
03:53So I'm sketching.
03:54This girl that wants to be uptown yet hangs out downtown and wants to fit in there.
03:58It's just that juxtaposition of both designs put together.
04:01And it's this Park Avenue princess girl that likes to use like funky silhouettes.
04:08I'm really inspired by that whole Harlem Renaissance era back in the 20s.
04:14I want to play up on suiting.
04:15So therefore, they're going to be button downs.
04:18I'm taking the tuxedo pants to the next level.
04:21And I'm including the tuxedo stripe in other things such as dresses, gowns.
04:26It's going to be elevated.
04:27So I first came to New York when I was 16 years old and one of the immediate sensations
04:34I remember is the chaos in like how there are so many different moving parts.
04:40I visually want to put that into print that looks like constant movement.
04:46I want them to feel this hip New York moment that's all about energy.
04:51All right guys.
04:56We got one hour for this.
04:58That's going to go by so fast.
05:00I want to get like a geometric bouquet.
05:03After leaving One World Trade Center, the grid lines really stuck in my head.
05:07And the first thing that came into my mind was plaid.
05:10Oh yeah.
05:11I like that.
05:12I feel like this is my girl.
05:14A little bit geometric and out of the box.
05:16But yet the fabric is really shiny and a little bit sophisticated at the same time.
05:20I'm hunting for treasures.
05:22I know.
05:23You know?
05:24My collection is built upon black and white.
05:27And for a pop of color, I wanted to use yellow.
05:29It's noisy.
05:30It draws your attention.
05:32And that's a great reference to New York City.
05:35Now it's a little short girl with an afro and there's a Hawaiian boy.
05:39Yeah.
05:40Don't let them touch these fabrics for me, okay?
05:42Well done.
05:44Five minutes!
05:46It's like I'm buying the whole store.
05:48I need to get leather.
05:50I need to get a striping.
05:51I need to get a cotton twill.
05:53I need to get cotton shirting.
05:55Ooh.
05:56Still nice.
05:57Yeah.
05:58What don't I buy?
05:59Like I really do buy the store.
06:00That's it!
06:01Dolls!
06:03Yay!
06:04Thank you Moon!
06:06Bye!
06:07Bye!
06:08Bye!
06:13Ooh!
06:14It looks so nice!
06:15Look at all the space we get!
06:16I know!
06:17We got big tables!
06:18This makes me so happy!
06:19It looks fancy!
06:21There was 13 really incredibly talented designers.
06:24To be in top three is just already really cool.
06:31We have four days to do eight looks.
06:35I think it'll be fine for me.
06:37Four days you're gonna have 14 damn pieces over there.
06:41Keeney's strength is he can construct clothes fast, but sometimes with fabrics that he pick and color choices, it can be a little dynasty from the late 80s.
06:52How do you guys feel about your menswear look?
06:56I'm excited about it.
06:57How do you feel about it?
06:58Good!
06:59I like menswear.
07:00I mean I typically don't do menswear.
07:02I believe that women have a little more freedom when it comes down to versatility and design.
07:08So it's pushing me out of my comfort zone.
07:10For this challenge I'm gonna just make some I will wear.
07:12Day one is done.
07:13But I don't wanna go.
07:14I wanna go.
07:15I'm tired.
07:16Let's go home.
07:17Dang, I thought this stuff was gonna be done.
07:18You said you thought it was gonna be done.
07:19Oh, we have so much work to do.
07:25I love that yellow.
07:41Yeah.
07:43I'm thinking about scratching it.
07:44Why?
07:45I don't know, it just doesn't stimulate my being.
07:47I was really excited about my yellow dress, but I don't know what to do.
07:51my being I was really excited about my yellow dress but now looking at it it
07:55lacks a lot of design and this is a design competition hi guys is Anna Ken
08:03Keeney Dom I am over the moon to see you in this room for the final so I want to
08:08hear all about your inspiration and how you translating that into your looks
08:11hi darling I'm freaking out but last time you made a collection a little bit
08:17more time than that two whole months how are you managing the first day took a
08:21while because I had to hand paint all my textiles now moving on to my fourth look
08:26so I'm getting there all right so tell me what is your inspiration I mean for
08:30anyone who's never been to New York it's just a lot to take in it's like sensory
08:34overload yeah so I thought I'd create a collection kind of celebrating all that
08:37like movement and chaos of New York talk to me about these dresses I initially
08:41had more of the striping in it but I took it out because I thought the painting
08:45really did a lot on its own my concern sometimes with making it look so easy
08:49and when these silhouettes move further and further away from the body yeah
08:52you're gonna look like you've got blobs walking down the runway yeah this is
08:57good because it's such a strong print this is yeah yeah I'm like still
09:02struggling with the top like I gave her a bag out I think the idea of just a dip
09:07back that does not win project runway all-stars yeah feel like you're
09:11reining yourself in a bit yeah every single one of these needs a big dumb
09:15stamp on it all right good luck my dear thanks Anna which one of these would be
09:20your first look out this and that I'm doing a black and white kind of story in
09:25the beginning mm-hmm and it leads to this colorful finish okay I'm doing a men's
09:30collared shirt look and then a wide leg pant to go with it and I actually did a
09:33double-sided because I'm not too sure what side I might do so okay so tell me about
09:37this so this is that girly sophisticated silhouette and then in the back it kind
09:43of well you've got girly at the front and then party in the back yeah okay so dare
09:49I say you have plaid for the men yes let me see I'm just thinking to do like a
09:53plaid pant a denim style jacket with this brocade and like a darker or white denim
09:58yeah don't go too gimmicky especially with your guy that's what I've been
10:03learning this whole season is just pull back a little bit I don't need to put it all
10:06in one that opening look has to be so powerful and that closing look also has
10:12to be very powerful yeah you do not want Alyssa to sit there and stop definitely
10:17not no so I was really inspired by the different shapes and things that the
10:22buildings and the window panes was creating that's a strong point of mine
10:25tailoring our structure so that's what's gonna bring that architecture feel into
10:30the collection not revolutionary but let's see how it's translating into the
10:36looks okay well this is the piece that I'm currently working on right now I
10:41wanted to do something really funky with the lapel make it a little fresh and I'm
10:46gonna pair this with I'm bound in between a pencil skirt or a pant what you've got
10:50to say a nice tailored skinny pant do that do you have any other fabric just
10:56black and white I have a really really bold yellow let me see it but I kind of was stirring
11:04away from the yellow and wanted to stick with black and white it's the black and white gonna knock
11:09the judges off the chairs sure if my construction and my design is how they're supposed to do you
11:14think the yellow might help the yellow is slap him in the face don't you want to slap him in the face
11:19yes you have to base they're beautiful pieces but they're not wowing okay all right good luck I
11:26know four days to make an entire collection is bonkers here's what I'm gonna do I'm gonna call in for
11:38some assistance to help you out over the next day goodness hallelujah praise Jesus we have help coming
11:48hey you're not done yet what the hell so what do you want me to do I got this white jacket I was
12:05gonna do pants with it so let me start cutting Lyanna has a eye for detail her construction skills is
12:12amazing and she's fast and all of those things could really help me out with creating my finale
12:17collection see I'm playing around with the idea of doing this with a dolmen I'm so happy Alexander's
12:22here he is incredibly good at construction he knows good fit I immediately start having him drape
12:29this silhouette for this shirt dress so I'm basically using this block to draft this dress too okay
12:35do you know how to do like those side pockets almost like this it's like in the seam pocket I put
12:40Asha straight to work on making this pants because I need it done quick then this line are we falling
12:45here you want me to take that down okay perfect Asha totally understands what I'm doing and I know
12:50that she has the talent and the skill to help me finish this collection that's time for today day two high
13:05five Alexander Pope thank you look at us getting stuff on dress warm let's go coming coming Sasha
13:20I just want as much cut out so I can sew can you drape a pant and I'll do the top for the men yeah yeah
13:31Alexander has a really good way of being really quick and precise about pattern making so I'm having
13:37him focus on that because the menswear look has to get done before the fitting I know first thing I
13:51want to try on is this yellow dress and I'm going to kind of work through you guys put your arms straight
13:55down straight down a lot of the garments they're intentionally shapeless but I do want to bring in
14:00the somewhat fitted and structured aspect to it to balance it out these need to be really slim yes
14:06pretty close to the leg I'm actually really excited to do menswear that's the print that's the black
14:10that's gonna be awesome it's a rare moment I get to put my Dom Street or stamp on a man it's a
14:17little snug in her bum all right we can let it out on the sides I think it's tough competition between me
14:22and Dom she has a really strong voice on who she is as a designer and I have something to bring to the
14:29table as well the jacket looks really good on him yeah right yeah my menswear look is my
14:35uptown girl's gay best friend I know part of Kenny's aesthetic is that wow factor but I question his
14:42taste those pants are not of the Lord you are bootylicious I knew it yeah I mean you always leave at least
14:53an inch seam allowance on the sides just in case you have to make alterations and those pants are fit
14:59for baby Bjork those pants were small as sorry for Natalie being enough to change I don't see Ken
15:07winning this at all yes he knows who his clientele is but he's still stuck in the same silhouettes
15:13there's still more design elements that he needs to learn I'm gonna have all y'all stuff done okay
15:29you gotta go you can stay I know I would love to stay and help you I owe you like 15 happy hour pot
15:41clothes I have to go thank you so much it was so great to be here bye good luck everyone bye oh and
15:49it's the last day I'm starting my last look I want to do just a simple strapless dress with an
16:08oversized jacket out of the pink plaid that I have it's already such a vibrant color so I know I can
16:14stand out on its own this is the last look that they'll ever see from me on all-stars so it has to
16:19be super strong all right guys that is it day four we are done that's crazy it really went by fast
16:38yeah like but look around we made 24 looks collectively in four days we need awards well
16:46we can't get a war tonight but we can go to Hudson Hotel and have a glass of champagne
16:50yes we need a new york this is beautiful oh this is awesome oh my god after today I am really looking
17:10forward to just having a glass of champagne at Hudson Hotel with Keeni and Ken and just really relaxing I
17:18feel like I definitely seen you like change from our season to this season like you were very reactionary
17:24on our season in this season you're like so like a little calmer not a hundred percent calm no it's cool to
17:32see someone that you like know and love fulfilling the best of themselves Ken from 2013 would have
17:39flipped out completely on all of the pressure but throughout this experience I've learned how to handle
17:45myself in tough situations I'm gonna miss you guys I know I'm gonna miss you guys too let's toast to
17:51the top three it's the morning of the runway I have a lot of alterations to do at this point I feel
18:10like what's done is done and I can only perfect what I have done
18:21morning girls I told Lynn that I wanted to incorporate the leather and the base of the
18:29ponytail something that's really wet and sleek that resembles the window panes and everything in
18:35the city hello ladies I tell Scott that I want to play with the bow liner underneath the eye so it
18:42adds dimension and it adds that edge from the architecture and we're gonna do a bow lip as well
18:47I wanted to do something really simple and clean so it's everything's kind of pushed away from her
18:55face I just want clean simple straight hair with a headband at the Laura Geller makeup studio I'm
19:01thinking the gold shimmer cheek clean eyes and a bright pink lip I think that'll work out perfect for
19:07my girl I take my models to the Schwarzkopf hair studio I think that a center part just sleek long hair
19:15with like a blunt angled edge is just perfect for this look for makeup I want like really graphic cat
19:22eye something that looks almost 60s but made modern something just really bold and in your face
19:29from the Chinese laundry shoe wall I pulled these really amazing black wedge booties and they're so
19:39cute and awesome from the bubble bar jewelry wall I grab a bunch of huge chunky bracelets I think it
19:48adds just more oomph to your look 15 minutes I feel like my collection is pretty cool it looks really young
19:57and spirited and it has something about it that definitely sets it apart it would mean a lot for me to
20:04come home with this win and I'd be the first girl to win all-stars that would be pretty awesome girl power
20:10ooh lady all right guys that's it runway time Dom Ken let's head to our final runway let's get this

25:17I'm so proud of you.
25:18I'm so proud of you.
25:19I'm so proud of you.
25:20elements that the buildings here in New York City have. Thank you guys for coming.
25:36Beautiful. Thank you. So you went with the wide, wide leg in the end. I did. I was thinking about the Empire State Building, how it goes up at that point. I can see that.
25:50She's fierce looking.
26:02Oh my goodness. Sex on legs. Yeah.
26:24I took your advice and I used the yellow.
26:48Oh, look at this beauty. Is this a fabric you were going to throw away? It is the fabric I was going to throw away. Are you happy you used it? I am. I loved it.
27:06I think you've come on leaps and bounds as a designer in the last few months. I'm so proud of you. Thank you. It's been a real honor. Thank you so much. It's been my honor. Thank you so much.
27:26Thank you so much.
27:36Hi everyone, I'm Keeney.
27:53My collection is inspired by the view of uptown New York City and the gridlines of Manhattan.
28:00Thank you very much.
28:06How are you feeling, babe?
28:19Excited.
28:20I can finally breathe.
28:23How do you think Isaac's going to feel about that raffle?
28:37Oh boy, I hope this one is right.
28:50Now this dress, this was the unique one.
29:03Now this dress, this was the unique one.
29:18Oh, I love this.
29:20I love this.
29:21Again, it's sophisticated.
29:22And when she turns around, of course, it's going to be that surprise in the back.
29:27This is my favorite look of yours.
29:33And I kept it long.
29:34I kept that silhouette.
29:35Yes.
29:42I wanted to end with something big.
29:44It doesn't matter if they don't like it or not.
29:46I love this and it's going to stand out.
29:48A plus for drama.
29:50Yeah.
29:51I love this collection.
30:05Congratulations.
30:26Designers, three months ago you joined us as all-stars.
30:29You designed red carpet, couture, avant-garde, and athleisure.
30:34And even created fashion out of emergency services supplies.
30:38You designed for charity, modernized looks for fairytale characters,
30:43and produced fashion that everyone loved, even nature's.
30:47Oh my God.
30:48Oh my God.
30:49And we sent you all over New York City.
30:52From the art galleries of Chelsea to Cyclone Stadium at historic Coney Island.
30:58All of this culminated on the top floor of the new One World Trade Center.
31:03As you used your New York experience to inspire your final collection.
31:08It's been quite a journey.
31:11We're going to critique each of you and we're going to start with Dom.
31:14Can Nankini please wait in the backstage lounge.
31:28Dom, tell us about the inspiration for your collection.
31:32One thing that really resonated with me, being at the top of the observatory,
31:35was that initial shock factor.
31:37And I tried to think of the last time I felt that way,
31:40and it was really the first time I came to New York.
31:43I was 16 and I just remember getting off the bus and just having this insane shock to my senses.
31:48So I wanted to really capture those two very different experiences in my life by doing painting and showing that energy.
31:54Amazing job.
31:55This collection is so energetic.
31:57My favorite print is your first print, the more impressionist print.
32:00And the color story in that is so beautiful.
32:03The other print, I don't think it's quite as successful.
32:05And I question whether perhaps you even needed that second print.
32:08I love the first fabric. I think that's just inspired.
32:12The least successful look for me is the Japanese look with the jacket.
32:15I think that the pants, that piping, I just wouldn't want to wear it. It's not flattering.
32:20And I think the jacket is really quite clumsy.
32:22But I hate to use the word clumsy because you have a serious grace about you.
32:25Thank you, Dom.
32:27I'm just like so proud of the fact that visually this collection looks like how I felt.
32:34And that makes me very excited.
32:38Ken, tell us about the theme for your collection.
32:46Well, I was inspired by the elegance and the architectural elements of the buildings here in New York City.
32:54So I kind of want to play on those elements throughout the collection.
32:58I love the idea of that bone colored suit and her feeling so naked underneath.
33:03And also, I'm mad about these pants.
33:06Can you turn around? I love the whole construction of them and this wonderful yellow dress at the end.
33:12I think that's the star. I might have let that out just a little bit at the hips.
33:16Also, the fit of this crop top is upsetting.
33:18But I think that your collection was the most commercial, the most cohesive, and in a way, the most chic.
33:25Thank you so much.
33:26I really responded to this collection. I think it is incredibly cohesive.
33:32This cream suit is exquisite. Like, I would love to have that.
33:36She's strong and she's confident. And I think the yellow is so fresh.
33:42The second to last look, I think she is a cool girl. And, of course, that last gown, it's effortless. It's chic. I know who this woman is.
33:53You took some risks here, and I really appreciate that in your collection. So, overall, great job, Ken.
33:58Thank you guys so much.
33:59I am so proud of myself. I know the journey I've come as a self-taught fashion designer.
34:05And every day I'm learning, but I've come a long way.
34:09Kini, tell us about the theme for your collection.
34:18Of course, the inspiration for me, going to the World Trade Center.
34:22And what I could see was just a lot of grid lines of the street.
34:26And from there, that's where I wanted to choose something geometric.
34:29And I wanted to choose a plaid that really spoke to me.
34:33Kini, this collection made me smile.
34:36The construction is so beautiful and so heads above everything else I think that we've seen in this competition.
34:45This blue dress is so beautiful, so flattering.
34:48I'd like to see the back of that jacket. I mean, how ballsy is that sleeve?
34:53I had to.
34:55This collection was such a refreshing end to the show. To me, the best dresses are the more, like, sort of, let's say evening dresses.
35:04You know, like this incredible pink confection, which I think is really a great invention. I love it.
35:10I want to congratulate you because I think you were the most successful with menswear.
35:15This is a very cool guy. And I love how you incorporated the plaid pants.
35:20I thought there was an 80s story going on here. Even the first look, which is kind of your most sedate.
35:25Yeah.
35:26It is a little Madonna, Desperately Seeking Susan. My least favorite is the short turquoise number, just because it, without this sort of extra bubble, which doesn't look like it's part of a larger idea, then it's sort of a cheap little prom dress.
35:39When I look at this end coat, which is just so nutty that I just absolutely adore it, I almost wish that the dress underneath was as insane.
35:50I think either you've got to go in this crazy direction or you've got to pull it back and take a second moment.
35:55Thank you, Keeney.
35:57It's a joyous collection for me. The silhouettes are crazy and I did dramatic things. So that makes it more exciting and more happy because I'm giving you stuff that you've never seen before.
36:11That was so exciting to watch their final collections walk down the runway and they had four days. I mean, how crazy is that?
36:18So proud of them.
36:19How long does it take normally to do a collection?
36:22Years.
36:23Years.
36:24A lifetime.
36:25Well, let's discuss Dom first.
36:28She nailed it, I thought.
36:29She took risks. That's so important because if you don't risk anything, you don't gain anything.
36:34I wasn't a fan of that plaid prints, but the silhouettes were really thoughtful and sophisticated.
36:41I loved that fabric, that Monet.
36:43See, I actually feel like the fabric did her a disservice because I felt like the silhouettes were so strong that it got very muddled.
36:50She's an artist.
36:51She really is.
36:52Let's talk about Ken.
36:53The thing that I liked the most were the little surprises. The big collar and the surprising back and that gown.
37:05There are many women who have or want all of those pieces in their wardrobe. That's the problem with it.
37:12But that green jacket, I think, was a statement.
37:15Yes.
37:16Yes, you're right.
37:17That's true.
37:18And the pants.
37:19The opening pants.
37:20I didn't love the top, but the pants were so good. So good.
37:23Let's talk about Keeney. How much does he make a smile?
37:30Everything about Keeney makes me smile.
37:32Me too. Me too.
37:33And that collection made me smile.
37:34You really feel like Keeney knows who he is and who he wants to dress.
37:38I agree. I really think he has a unique, fun vision and he has the expertise to back it up.
37:45This is a tough decision.
37:51I may have to pull your hair.
37:57Do we feel like we've made a decision?
37:59Yes.
38:00And we feel good about it?
38:01Yes.
38:02Okay, let's bring them back out.
38:15Ken, Dom and Keeney, you've each come a long way and throughout the season have had some great
38:44opportunities.
38:45Dom, you'll be designing an exclusive print to be sold worldwide on OtterBox cases.
38:52Ken, you'll be working with Georgina to design a piece for Marquesa Notte.
38:57Keeney, you'll be working with me to design sports fan apparel for my Touch by Alyssa Milano line.
39:05The three of you will always be all-stars, but there can only be one winner.
39:11The second runner-up of Project Runway All-Stars is Ken.
39:28You did an amazing job, Ken, and we wish you all the best for the future.
39:33Thank you so much.
39:34You can leave the runway.
39:36I came to Project Runway All-Stars to redeem myself as an individual and a fashion designer.
39:41I came here and I bust my ass and it got me in the finale.
39:44That's the icing on the cake.
39:45I mean, it's the ultimate redemption.
39:47And now the moment we've all been waiting for.
