00:00The criminal proceedings against 26-year-old Keir Seeley hit another delay on Tuesday after attorneys admitted they were not
00:08ready to proceed with a scheduled sufficiency hearing.
00:11Appearing before Master Nazira Ali, lead defense attorney Larry Williams apologized for missing deadlines to file submissions and evidential objections,
00:21telling the court the failure was his responsibility.
00:23Larry Williams said, quote, it was a failure on my part, it should have been done on time, it has
00:29not been done on time and it will not happen again, close quote.
00:33Master Ali expressed concern over what she called a developing pattern of non-compliance by the defense.
00:39She noted prosecutors had largely complied with filing deadlines while the defense missed a September 25th deadline and only requested
00:48an adjournment the morning of the hearing.
00:50Seeley faces manslaughter, shooting and firearms charges arising from a police-involved shooting in St. Augustine on January 20th this
00:58year.
00:58The incident left her partner Joshua Samaru dead and Seeley with life-altering injuries including paralysis.
01:05During the hearing, Seeley was also granted permission to change her bail address with attorneys telling the court she had
01:11difficulty accessing her mother's three-story home because of a condition.
01:15Master Ali granted what she described as a final extension.
01:18The defense must now file further submissions by December 4th.
01:23A status hearing is set for January 20th next year, while the sufficiency hearing has been rescheduled for March 23rd,
01:302027.
