00:00 Wednesday, October 4th is the day for sporting action on Ariapeta Avenue.
00:04 Activities start from 7 p.m. with the school's duathlon to be followed by the
00:08 traditional cycle races. Organizer Michael Phillips expects it to be an
00:12 evening loaded with entertainment.
00:14 We're quite happy to announce that we have two
00:17 components to this event. There's our school's duathlon and for those of you
00:23 who don't know what a duathlon is, it's run, ride, run a distance, ride a distance, then
00:28 run again. So transition is critical in terms of being able to either gain or
00:33 lose time. And we have over a hundred kids that are registered for that event.
00:37 In the cycling on the Avenue we have two divisions and for the open division or
00:46 division one we have a two lap sprint because we like to mix things up that way
00:50 for guys who have a little bit more fast pitch. There's something for them to
00:55 shine and then we have a 30 lap main event. Of course division two will
01:00 cater for the other categories and they too will have a lot of lap prizes.
01:06 Former TNT rider Emil Abraham who's based in the United States is among the
01:10 participants. Abraham races in Atlanta Georgia but looks forward to the annual
01:15 event held by Phillips.
01:17 It's my pleasure again to come and compete on
01:20 home soil racing at the cycling on Avenue tomorrow night. I have brought a
01:26 few competitors from the USA to compete with me. Also a couple of locals from
01:35 from the from Team Pharmaco GLD in division one. Locally we have
01:41 Jusain Phillip and Sindel Samaru as a junior. Hopefully we're asking granting
01:48 permission from the Federation that he can race in division one with us.
01:53 The event continues to grow with this being the ninth edition of cycling on the Avenue.
01:57 Another participant is Hassani Hennis from Anguilla who is representing Raiders.
02:02 I represent Raiders also over in Tobago for the Tobago classics. I've been coming to
02:08 Trinidad and Tobago for the past four years despite the COVID and yeah I use
02:16 it as my off-season vacation trip plus riding hard with a bunch of guys that
02:22 love cycling.
02:23 Fans cannot be left out as special prizes are on offer for
02:26 spectators who attend the cycling on the Avenue.
02:31 Like Joe Elliott, he was.
