It's been a hectic season for track and field and on the road it's about to get hotter...

As a new contender has joined the road racing ranks.

Food Chain Subway has launched their first road race event with enough goodies to fill your appetite.
Transcript
00:00A foot-long road race is coming your way and for those not willing to run that long, there's a 6km by 2 relay to split the load with a friend.
00:10It's a great distance, like a springboard off of a 5k, so most people might be wondering if they can do more than a 5k distance and this is a great way to see if they can do more than a 5k.
00:21It's a race that also brings along great expectation. Subway has sponsored several races and with that, they've gathered knowledge on giving runners what they want come race day. A flat course is definitely desirable.
00:34This race will not literally be like the best PBR will get for the whole entire year, so that's the main reason we are running.
00:41The other expectation is that it will be competitive and there's great value for winning. Organisers say the total prize pool is $30,000 between the 12k and relay races.
00:53The top male and female runners in the 12k will take away $3,000 each, plus a race package to the midnight 10k in Tobago in October. There's age group prizes as well.
01:04I'm looking forward to participating, seeing all the runners, also coming out first with 19 minutes.
01:12Alright, who do you think your biggest competitors will be?
01:14Nobody.
01:16The event will also serve as a fundraiser, with all proceeds benefiting the Coalition Against Domestic Violence.
01:22We have decided to not only do this race for us, but to join in partnership with our worthy cause. Our worthy cause, not only for this year, but going forward, we've decided to partner with the Coalition Against Domestic Violence.
01:43The race, which is timed by Extra Mile TT, starts at 6.12am.
01:47Testing the course is part of checking water stops, checking the route, understanding we specifically did the test on a Saturday morning at the same time that the race will happen.
01:57So together with Extra Mile, we're going to make sure the water stops are in convenient locations, not only convenient, and accessible, and at the correct times that a runner would need a water stop, but it's also a space on the road where it can be facilitated properly.
02:13Alright, police.
02:14Police is of course going to be involved.
02:16The first subway restaurant was opened in TNT November 1992 in St. James, and now they are eager to entice runners to take the first bite of their first race.
02:26It starts at the Caldrak Sports Club in Down Village, California, takes runners through the Rivulet Road, Coover Main Road, west towards Roop Junction, and back to the start.
02:37Race Marshals will guide you through the rest.
02:40Sergio Dufour, TV6 Sport.
