The organizers of the T&T Midnight Marathon has posted their response following the TV6 report of a runner being struck by a vehicle during the race.

00:08Baffa Sports in a release indicated the incident took place in Mount Lambert and the runner, Curtis Forbes, was transported
00:14to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, Mount Hope, where he is warded in a stable condition.
00:20The marathon body stated that it is deeply saddened by the hit-and-run incident and they are in regular
00:26contact with the family of the runner to get updates on the situation.
00:30As for the driver that struck the runner, Baffa Sports stated,
00:33quote, we understand the driver has since given up himself to the authorities and a report is being put together
00:40by the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, end quote.
00:43Baffa Sports did not address the reason that the course was diverted to the eastern main road and whether or
00:48not there were sufficient volunteers or a police presence to manage the route.
00:53They ended the release stating that this incident is heartbreaking, why road safety is paramount in these endeavours.
