00:09Hello everyone and welcome to Cigre Paris session 2024.
00:14We are expecting many people from all over the world.
00:17It will be a great session.
00:19So follow us on Cigre TV.
00:26Hello and welcome on Cigre TV for a new interview with
00:29Renveig Loken.
00:31Hello again.
00:32Hello.
00:32Thank you for being with us.
00:34We have a lot of interviews with you today.
00:37You used to do that.
00:39We have an international symposium that is hosting Cigre from 12th of May to 15th of May
00:462025 in Trondheim.
00:49What could the audience expect about this symposium?
00:53Well, there will be a lot of papers there, we hope.
00:56We want to have more papers done in Cairns and the topic for the symposium is changes
01:04needed for the power system.
01:06So we will look into what are the new challenges, how are the solution, for example with wind
01:13power, solar power, new material for cables.
01:17So there's a lot of topics we will discuss.
01:19And of course there will be people from all over the world.
01:22We will have tutorial, we will discuss the papers and we will also have time to do some
01:27social stuff.
01:28Ah, that's important also.
01:30And what is the main focus on this symposium, especially in time where energy transition,
01:35as we know, is the center of attention worldwide?
01:38Yeah, of course the energy transition is very important.
01:42And we have 11 of the 16 study committee involved.
01:45So we really have topics related about material to the system studies and there's a lot of different
01:55topics.
01:56So for sure you will learn something.
01:58I'm sure.
02:00And were there any challenges that you have faced while organizing this symposium?
02:06Well, there was one thing because originally we were planning to have the symposium in September
02:11in 2025.
02:13But then there were some changes and we had Canada and they would like to have the autumn
02:19slot.
02:20So we jumped to May and this means we had a little bit less time to plan everything.
02:26But with this great team of the 11th strategy committee and the Nordic region, we managed to
02:33re-plan and get everything ready.
02:36So I think we are ready to go.
02:38Super.
02:39And where can we find you at this session here in Paris?
02:42And where can people can find information about the symposium?
02:45Yeah, of course, we have a web page.
02:49But here at the symposia, we have a stand at first level, boot 161.
02:55And you will find Mette there and Björnar and also some of our NGN members from the Nordic region.
03:03So welcome to come there.
03:06And you can also get your luggage tag.
03:10That's a very nice one with the honor CC and Sigrid.
03:13So this you can use on your way back home.
03:16Yeah, of course.
03:16And I see on the table the call for papers.
03:20So we have more information in this paper and they can again assign to come to the symposium.
03:27It's the time.
03:29And you should have this call for paper in your bag.
03:31But during the conference, we found that the deadline for symposium was a little bit too short.
03:38Too short.
03:39Yeah.
03:39So we changed it.
03:41So now it's 27th of September.
03:44Okay.
03:45So now you have time to come with your symposium.
03:48So we wish all of you to come.
03:50Thank you very much, Henreg.
03:53And just now we will see the video from Trondheim.
03:56I love my job.
03:58And it's not just because I get to work with some of the best people I know, doing what
04:02I love.
04:03It's also because I get to live in the best city in the world.
04:08Hello.
04:09My name is René and I am the chef and owner of Bula Neo Bistro.
04:13Let me show you my city, Trondheim.
04:18Just from walking around the city, you can feel the history in all the streets and buildings.
04:24Trondheim was the capital of Norway during the Viking Age.
04:27And there is so much to see and learn and experience.
04:31And at the same time, because of the large university here, the students fill this old city with
04:37a youthful and fun energy, giving us a great food and music scene and also great nightlife.
04:45If you ask me, life is all about having fun and meeting new people.
04:50And if you love traveling like me, you should come to Trondheim and join the party.
04:56Hello everyone and welcome on our Sigrid TV set for a new interview with our guests.
05:01This is Bogdan Leheu.
05:02Hello Bogdan.
05:03Hello.
05:04Thank you for having me and hello to all the Sigrid community watching us.
05:08Can you give the audience a basic understanding of your position?
05:13Sure.
05:14Well, I'm the main coordinator of the young branch of energy professionals of Sigrid Romania.
05:19So basically we are a group of 60 engineers coming from different companies in Romania,
05:26from EBC companies, utilities and then so on.
05:30And we are also members coming from the universities.
05:34So our members are already part of them lecturers at the main technical universities in Romania.
05:42So our goal as a group in Romania, the NGN National Group, is to engage our members more and more
05:53with the technical and scientific activities of the International Sigrid,
05:58of our National Committee of Sigrid and other than that to professionalize them more.
06:04I mean to complement a bit their knowledge and their activity with the things they are doing in their universities
06:14or in their day by day activity.
06:17Okay.
06:18And what can you tell us about the dynamic in Romanian regarding the young engineers in the power system fields?
06:25Well, I can assure you that it's a huge dynamic in Romania regarding the activity of young energy professionals.
06:33And here I'm not talking just about engineers, I'm talking about young people coming from a lot of other domains.
06:42I was part of different organizations in Romania that are also young branches of other big organizations such as IEEE,
06:53such as World Energy Council, EUREL and so on.
06:57And I used that experience and applied it in our National Committee of Engineering in order to collaborate more with
07:05the energy sector and to evolve all that.
07:09And right now, after me and my team, we took the lead of our National Committee, I mean after two
07:20and a half years, we increased the participation of a lot of engineers,
07:25a lot of young energy professionals in the NGN national committees from 20 people and one or two projects.
07:33Right now we have more than 60 people involved in the NGN national committee and more than seven projects.
07:42And also our visibility in the energy sector in Romania increased a lot.
07:47I mean, this visibility went up to the ministerial level. For example, last month, the Ministry of Energy in Romania
07:55awarded us for our activity in the energy sector.
08:00Thank you very much. Thank you, Bogdan, for being with us today to talk about what's going on in Romania
08:05about the power system field and the energy sector.
08:09Thank you very much.
08:16Hello, everyone, and welcome on SIGRE TV for a new day with new interviews with our guest. It is Jan
08:22Yon-Koo. Hello.
08:25Congratulations to you on this SIGRE medal at SIGRE session 2024. What does this award represent for you?
08:32SIGRE medal is my great honor for myself and for my country because our Korean industrial business is deeply related
08:48and has been promoted resulting from the heartfelt cooperation of one SIGRE family.
08:59So I think it is very important for Korea and myself.
09:05And what does the future hold for you?
09:09I think this SIGRE is for the last, according to my experience, Korea is mainly focused on the leading countries
09:19and the governed by the leading countries who developed this related technologies and business.
09:26But however, the SIGRE is a little old, becoming old, and the most of people joined here are experienced and
09:40aged people.
09:41In my view, we need some fresh blood. Where is our resource for fresh blood?
09:50It is the young engineers educated in the countries entering very lately in energy market.
10:04So we should, in my view, our global society, our globe, pursue the general CO2.
10:16When we consider how is our curriculum in many countries, in universities, it is a little far from the future
10:26need.
10:26And we should provide some educational tracks for next generation students.
10:34I think they will develop a new enterprise that is hard to imagine now.
10:42So we should provide something, novel education tracks to generations.
10:52Thank you very much for being with us. And again, congratulations to you.
10:55Thank you. Thank you.
11:06Hi, everyone, and welcome on SIGRE TV for a new interview with our new guest.
11:10And this is Phil Coughlin. Hi.
11:13Hi, how are you?
11:14Fine, and you?
11:15Very well, thank you.
11:16Thank you for being with us today.
11:18You are the International NGN Chair. Can you give the audience a basic understanding of your position, please?
11:25Yeah, absolutely.
11:26So the role of the International NGN Chair is to represent the NGN at a steering committee level.
11:32So it's important to be aware of what they're working on, some of the initiatives that they're implementing,
11:36so that you can disseminate that information back to the NGN.
11:40It's also important to advocate for some of the initiatives on behalf of the NGN as well,
11:44to get some guidance and to get some of those initiatives implemented too.
11:49And then separately, it's very important to bring together all the NGN groups across the globe.
11:54So I think at the moment we've got 34 chartered NGN groups, which is fantastic.
11:58So just coordinating events such as the Paris session and providing value to our member base.
12:03Okay. Thank you for these explanations.
12:05And what are two important benefits of being a part of NGN?
12:09Yeah. So probably the professional network that you can build up, I think, is of paramount importance.
12:16A lot of young professionals will have a good membership, a good awareness, I guess,
12:21within their organisation of who their industry specialists are.
12:24But it's important to extend that reach across the country and internationally as well,
12:29just so that you can tap into all the knowledge that's out there.
12:32So that's a really important one through SIGGRE.
12:35And then it's just around the breadth of technical content that's out there.
12:40It's eSIGGRE, it's Paris sessions, it's other session papers, really an unparalleled access to technical content.
12:47Okay. And what are the next actions for the NGN?
12:52Yeah. So I think we've got quite a good member base at the moment, which is good.
12:55But building on that and continuing the reach, I think there's a lot of good initiatives that have been implemented,
13:01both by the previous chair and myself and Anthony, this term as well.
13:06So building on some of those initiatives, such as the webinar program, making sure that continues,
13:11involvement of NGNs at a study committee level and a working group level is quite important as well.
13:16Thank you very much for being with us on SIGGRE CV Field. Thanks.
13:43Hello everyone and welcome on SIGGRE TV for another interview.
13:46And we will talk about a new award with Tara Lee McArthur.
13:51Hello Tara.
13:52Hi, how are you?
13:53Fine and you?
13:54Yeah, good, thanks.
13:55You're good because you win.
13:57Congratulations on this Women in Energy Awards for the SIGGRE session 2024.
14:03What does this award represent for you Tara?
14:07It means the world to me actually.
14:09Like I came to SIGGRE for the first time in 2016 and there wasn't awards for the NGN or Women
14:17in Engineering back then.
14:19And so it's amazing to see how far SIGGRE has come to recognise the contributions from our young members and
14:28also Women in Energy.
14:29So it was incredible to be up on stage on Sunday with everyone and I wouldn't have been here without
14:36my study committee, Transformers Study Committee A2 and then also the SIGGRE Australian National Committee.
14:44And what does the future hold for you?
14:47It's exciting actually. So I want to finish the work we're doing on our working group and also the second
14:55green book for Study Committee A2 on Transformers.
14:59And then if they let me, I want to continue with the managing the social media platform.
15:06So I run the Study Committee A2 page on LinkedIn.
15:11So if they would let me, I'd like to continue with that to share SIGGRE to the world.
15:16That's perfect to share SIGGRE to the world. That's a perfect word for the end.
15:20Thank you and congratulations again Tara.
15:22Thank you so much.
15:32Hello and welcome on our SIGGRE TV set with a new guest for talking about an award.
15:39This is an honorary member award for the SIGGRE session 2022 to Ralph Peach.
15:44Hello.
15:45Yes, correct.
15:45Thank you for being with us and congratulations for this award.
15:49And what does this award represent for you?
15:52Oh, where to start?
15:55Let's say from the beginning, I'm SIGGRE, working for SIGGRE since 1997.
16:02So as a member, as a specialist, convener and lately as a SD1 secretary, chair from 2018 to 2022.
16:16And so I'm really honored due to all this work because you have to, as you know, it's voluntary work.
16:23So I didn't expect it to be at this level from the beginning.
16:27So I'm really honored.
16:29But I have to say as it's voluntary, there's a lot of work and especially 2020 and 2021 due to
16:37the pandemic.
16:38So that was real.
16:41And what does the future hold for you?
16:45Let's say two parts.
16:46One is, let's say business.
16:49I will still part of, for SIGGRE, maybe for one working group or something like that.
16:55And privately, I will retire at the end of this week.
16:58So then I hopefully have much more time for also different aspects.
17:03So that's the future up to now.
17:06Okay.
17:06Thank you very much, Ralph.
17:08Again, congratulations.
17:08Okay, thanks.
17:17Shima is a technology company and an engineering company also.
17:22We provide good solutions for the electrical market.
17:28It's not just an exhibition, it's a technology conference.
17:32It's really the experts and the knowledge sharing with the commercial side on top.
17:37So I think this is what makes SIGGRE so special and why it is so important for us.
17:46Everybody's buzzing with so much energy that they're all excited because this is a unique moment for our industry.
17:52There is a need to drive the energy transition and everybody's just like, wow, this is exceptional.
18:08This is the end of the day.
18:10It was a great journey with different subjects on this session here in Paris for the SIGGRE.
18:14See you soon on SIGGRE TV.
