00:33For me, CIGRE is a professional association on the electric field
00:37and all of us are joined by a big passion for our work
00:43and to create new knowledge and share it in a manner where we contribute to the scientific and technical progress
00:53not only in this field, which is essential for human life, we are all users of electricity
00:59so also to the socio-economic development at large.
01:04It's also a unique platform for networking where everybody is learning from the others
01:10and from the collective work as a whole.
01:21I've been in CIGRE for more than a decade now, I started approaching it as a technical conference
01:28where technical papers were presented and discussed and then I soon realized there is much, much more to it.
01:35There is a working group activity on all sorts of new subjects, there is dissemination in workshops, in tutorials.
01:51I've been in CIGRE
01:52Personally, CIGRE has given me the possibility to benchmark in all fields of application
01:59with the state of the art at all levels.
02:10My, I hope, significant contributions to CIGRE
02:14recently were on the fields of interconnections and on smart sector integration.
02:22I brought these two subjects in the committee C1
02:27we created the new branch for interconnections
02:29which were initially intended in a traditional way between countries
02:34and then also within the same jurisdiction
02:36between different grid operators
02:39so also distribution companies
02:41and then now this year also through different energy sectors
02:45like for example hydrogen
02:48and hydrogen is the most recent contribution I think I've done
02:52creating with the Technical Council a forum
02:56also with the help of external experts
03:00to put this high in agenda of future works in CIGRE
03:11It's very grim to work in these premises
03:14where we were meeting thousands of people
03:16networking
03:17creating new ideas for new working groups
03:19and new activities
03:20and being almost alone
03:23few people
03:24especially for me
03:25I was nominated chair of the study committee
03:28and just before the pandemic
03:31so I never met the colleagues in person
03:44I think this has to continue in the future
03:47because the post pandemic world will not be the same as before
03:50and we need to offer new way
03:53and also fastest way to share the knowledge
03:57not only with yearly or yearly events
04:00and especially reaching young engineers
04:02who are now faced with a lot of offer of webinars
04:08which are free of charge
04:10free of authorization to attend them
04:13and the prestige of one century of CIGRE
04:17has to be leveraged on
04:19to continue with more modern ways
04:22to be the single stop shop for electricity
