00:00Thank you so much for watching.
00:33Hi, everybody. My name is Pascal Nuller from Switzerland. I'm chairman from study committee A2 since last year. I just
00:42thought this morning I started I think 2005 or 2006. I started with CIGRE and I become a regular member
00:53at the study committee.
00:55Then I got a working group. And as I said, I have the chance to be the chairman of A2
01:01since last year.
01:10CIGRE for me, it's quite important because you have a big network on a high level and you meet experts
01:21and you will get friends because in CIGRE you work more than months.
01:26It's always a long time you are in CIGRE. Also quite important is to keep knowledge, to get knowledge to
01:35younger people. And often we define things before it becomes standards.
01:49Well, my most important contribution I get really the chance in 2013 in Zürich. I was the organizer of a
01:58colloquium from my study committee and C4.
02:02And at that time I learned a lot of things and we meet people from more than 40 countries and
02:10we were about 500 people and it was really a pleasure to get this opportunity.
02:24Well, I'm working for utility city of Zurich so it's quite a small business and with CIGRE I got really
02:34an outlook to other problems, to other countries, culture, languages and also to get ideas.
02:42For example, for example, when I do have a question or a problem, I have a big network. I can
02:47just send out an email and in a few days I get answers from all around the world.
02:53So that's really very helpful also for my work. And of course at the events you meet also people from
03:02other management and you can share your ideas and problems and what will happen in the future.
03:17Well, the idea of this virtual session, first of all, it needs a lot of courage to do this. After
03:25last year we had also problems to have a real event in Paris.
03:31And for me and for my team, it was quite interesting to work with new tools. I think that's also
03:38a thing for future for organizations like CIGRE, maybe to do in parallel like physical and virtual.
03:45And I just want to say a big congratulations to the organization because what I heard till now, my session
03:54will be tomorrow and after tomorrow, it works quite good.
04:05Well, maybe I see an aspect for future for CIGRE first thing. Everybody speak of running out resources. I mean
04:15personal resources.
04:16So I think CIGRE should really think to work with others organization like CIRED or IEEE or others.
04:27So to cluster the ideas and to cluster know how and have some exchange. And from the point of view,
04:39you ask about the world.
04:41I think, well, digitalization, you hear it all the times, but I think also environmental and to be open.
04:53But at the end, I think the basic ideas of CIGRE should stay the same.
04:57CIGRE should stay the same.
