00:35and results in taking the lead from Vial with less than half a lap completed,

00:42A little bit tricky in places, that is the situation though, where they put water down in between MX2 Race

00:47and the side of this race, see a little flash of puddles here just next to that marshal on the
00:51exit of the
00:52turn where Romer Fevre is now, on the faces of the jumps there as well, so it's going to be
00:55a little bit
00:56sticky and unpredictable in one or two areas, obviously these riders, they're trained professionals,
01:01don't attempt this stunt at home kind of deal, but they know exactly what they're looking for,
01:06what's good, what's not good, but even then, sometimes when it's just starting to dry out,
01:10it can lead you into a false sense of security, ah, big roost sandwich off the rear wheel of the
01:15Honda,
01:15right into the mush of Romain Fevre, but he does make the pass and goes into second
01:20and goes after Jeffrey Hurlings here on this opening lap.
01:23Exactly what he needed to do, Fevre, the longer he stayed behind Vial, of course the less than his chances
01:27were
01:28of catching Tom's teammates, so now he's got a clear run at Hurlings, there's a yellow flag out there,
01:32is that for the track coming the other way, or is that Jeffrey?
01:37No, he comes across the line, does Hurlings, so it was towards the back of the circuit,
01:42did I see Ivo Monticelli, fourth in the first sector, incredible stuff from the Italian,
01:45he is now seventh for JK Racing Yamaha.
01:48Yeah, a little bit of work to do for Monticelli for you guys to get back to that fourth place,
01:51but Hurlings leads, he's back three and a half seconds, clear of his teammate,
01:55or was clear of his teammate, but it's now Romain Fevre there in second,
01:59here is Tom Vial in third position, and just behind at the top of the hill, Adamo,
02:04remember Vial and Adamo going for that fourth place in the championship,
02:07both of them rookies to MXGP in their first year, it was four points coming into this race,
02:12after Vial got the better and was first in the qualifying race, Adamo was fourth,
02:18so he gained three points on the Italian, and he's going to gain another couple of points here
02:21as it stands right now, but might not be a big deal to some,
02:24might not even be a big deal to those two, but one of them will be Rookie of the Year
02:27in 2026.
02:29I think it probably means a little bit more to Adamo, speaking to Vial himself,
02:32behind the gate, he wasn't too worried about his championship position,
02:35as long as it's not first really, that seems to be the main concern of course,
02:39and yeah, he's taken a good claim to a good 2027 campaign as Tom Vial,
02:43if he can keep uninjured and going as well as he has done this year,
02:47his progress could bring him up to be a problem for everybody next season.
02:50Well, still plenty of time to run in this first MXGP race here,
02:53of course we know the top three championship are done,
02:55Herlings, Fevre and Geiser, but Roman Fevre hoping to get a race win or a Grand Prix victory here
03:01this weekend on the newly crowned six-time world champ, Jeffrey Herlings,
03:05but as you can see they're about three and a half seconds apart,
03:08that is the gap on the screen.
03:10Fevre through the waves and Herlings already through that sweep in left turn
03:13on his run towards the end of the first official lap with a 1.38.266.
03:18Fevre will cross the line, a 1.38.659.
03:21And there was that time practice, best lap tennis going on between these two again
03:25in the warm-up session this morning,
03:27which was always quite comical to see,
03:30but again it was Herlings who came out on top.
03:35Yeah, half a second ahead of Fevre at the end of that one,
03:38so Jeffrey dropped that session yesterday.
03:40He can still stake claim to the fastest lap in the qualifying race, of course,
03:44so he can still put a flag in that one.
03:45That's the sort of games that Jeffrey likes to play with himself,
03:48but either way, he's out in front again now
03:50and trying to streak away a fastest lap 3.2 ahead of Fevre right now.
03:54André Adamo, his season, just like Tom Viau's, has been impressive,
03:57but I'm not sure if we expected more from Tom Viau,
03:59being a two-time world champion, what he did in the US
04:01with those two 250 Supercross titles and one thing or another
04:05and his, you know, Nations win, things like that,
04:07but at the same time, André Adamo with, and I say this,
04:11with just inverted commas, the one MX2 world title,
04:13not an easy thing to achieve by no mean streak,
04:16but, you know, I don't know, maybe they gave André Adamo
04:20just a little bit more leniency coming in as a rider
04:23who could have stayed MX2 and looked like he was probably
04:25going to stay MX2 this year,
04:26knowing that he had to move next year to the Premier class,
04:29but, you know, it was decided, whether it was he or people at KTM,
04:33that he would run in MXGP this season,
04:36and it's turned out to be a blessing in disguise, I think,
04:38because he's now more than ready for 2027
04:40and he could finish fourth or fifth in the championship
04:43in his debut season.
04:44Yeah, he's kept his consistency,
04:46the hallmark of his MX2 career, and Adamo, yeah,
04:50and like I say, not dazzling results, not the GP win
04:52that Vial managed to bring home, a couple of podiums here or there,
04:55but either way, he's shown himself to be consistent, steady,
04:58he's reached the final round, which, again, not many actually have,
05:01and, yeah, he's kept in it all the way through,
05:03and that sort of thing, he just, as he says himself,
05:05he needs to get more of a beast.
05:07The riders in this class, he calls them, they are beasts,
05:09and he just needs to maybe sometimes turn off that brain a little bit
05:12and just crank the throttle.
05:13Easier said than done on a 450.
05:16Anyway, Tom Bial, solid in third at the moment,
05:19five seconds behind Fevre, three seconds ahead of Adamo,
05:22looking very smooth, looking relaxed,
05:23not being pushed either way,
05:24so this one is in his hands now,
05:27this is his fourth place in the championship
05:28to kind of throw away, if you like.
05:31But I just think this type of racetrack
05:33maybe suits him as well,
05:34his riding style, a little bit flamboyant,
05:37a little bit of flair,
05:38some nice big jumps and nice and wide and open,
05:40good flow to the racetrack,
05:42which is how Tom Bial likes it, I think.
05:44Yeah, tidy rider.
05:45I say there's been many comparisons made to this track
05:47to outdoor circuits in the US,
05:51and yeah, it should certainly suit the man
05:53with the most US experience in this class.
05:57Well, I'll tell you what,
05:58we've got a game on at the end of the field
05:59because last time around,
06:00Fevre was the fastest,
06:011.37.5 compared to a 1.38.2 of Hurlings.
06:05Yeah, about 1.7, 1.8 at the moment.
06:08And on this lap,
06:10Fevre set the fastest two times
06:11in sectors one and two.
06:13Three tenths quicker in sector one,
06:15about another second in sector two.
06:18This is Fevre having a moment,
06:20I tell you what,
06:21he, when you sit there and go,
06:23styled that, you know what I mean?
06:25He styled his way out of that perfectly.
06:27No one even knew it was a problem.
06:28He just landed,
06:29he says, I know what I'm going to do,
06:30I'm just going to hit the gas,
06:31just light up the back end here

06:36The very outside edge of the knobblies

06:42and it was just the edge of the tyre

06:46because it was certainly skating outwards.

07:43obviously he was the only one really
07:44with any kind of passing intel
07:45on the racetrack,
07:46so he knew whether to go out
07:47side,
07:48inside,
07:48down the middle,
07:49straight up,
07:49whatever.
07:50He's now leading the way
07:51and it's Fevre
07:51who's having to figure out that.
07:53But he was in this position
07:54yesterday with Tom Vial.
