00:19Here's a look at the brand new Hayatoys Godzilla X Kong The New Empire Exquisite Basic Scar
00:24King.
00:31Godzilla X Kong The New Empire was released in 2024.
00:34This time it thrusts Kong and Godzilla into a colossal confrontation with an unknown menace
00:39lurking within our world, exploring deeper origins of the Titans.
00:43The brand new Scar King action figure stands 15 centimeters tall.
00:46It's meticulously crafted based on the original CG data from Godzilla X Kong The New Empire,
00:51faithfully reproducing every aspect of Scar King's appearance from the film.
00:55Featuring multi-layered pain lubrications that highlight his iconic orange-red fur and battle
01:00scars on his chest and abdomen exude intimidation, his unique white tribal marking sharp eyes and
01:06the slender physique are all finely recreated, embodies an overwhelming domineering presence.
01:11Something I can't stand.
01:12It's a primate that pushes his weight around.
01:15How about before we get a closer look at the Godzilla X Kong The New Empire Scar King action
01:19figure?
01:20First, let's thank the folks over at Haya Toys that did provide this sample.
01:24Right now, he's slated to ship the third quarter of 2026 online.
01:28Sites that do currently list and sell Haya brands.
01:31Right now, though, he's on a wait list on some of those sites.
01:35The figure is going to be releasing at $59.99.
01:38Let's get things going now with the tape measure.
01:40In his straight and standing form, I've got the Scar King standing, that's a mouthful,
01:46at six inches in height, working out to be a figure that's about 15 and a half centimeters
01:51tall.
01:52Things got rather cold for Kong, unfortunately, at the hands, or I guess at the breath, of
01:56Shimo.
01:57One of the included accessories, though, that come included with Scar King is the Shard from
02:01Shimo.
02:02We're going to be looking at that also in a second.
02:04Size-wise, though, it's debatable.
02:06I could almost even say that Scar King should really be a little bit shorter than Kong,
02:10but a lot of times, though, he's also hunched over.
02:13That might make for why he looks like he's a little bit shorter in the film.
02:16Here's also what the figure looks like, and I wanted to grab at least the Godzilla that
02:20was also from Godzilla X, Kong, The New Empire, because again, there's been several releases
02:24of The King of the Monsters.
02:25Based on that, at least, Scar King is technically taller, but it's only just in the configuration
02:31I've currently got him standing in right now.
02:33To put my own questions to bed, I actually looked and consulted.
02:36Google.
02:36Scar King stands 318 feet, while Kong towers over that at 337 feet, so technically Kong
02:43is taller.
02:44Again, it's based only just the way I've got him standing right now.
02:47I'm sure most people probably will end up bending his knees, bending his torso, all the
02:50things that we can cover in the posability part of this review.
02:54First, let's look at the accessories that come included with The King.
02:57Scar King does come included, of course, with his whip that's made of bone here.
03:01He uses it actually quite resourcefully in the film.
03:04One thing I do like, though, is that on the end of it, of course, you do have the shard
03:08from Shimo.
03:09I wish, to be honest, though, this could have been actually brighter than what it is.
03:13Hiya has decided instead of painting this to use more of a translucent blue plastic.
03:18Unfortunately, though, it doesn't have that glowing effect.
03:21Now, I know, obviously, they would have not been able to incorporate a battery glowing
03:24feature, but I think at the very least, though, painting this probably would have had this
03:29brighter than just relying on translucent blue plastic alone.
03:33The whip, as probably you can see for yourself, is quite flexible.
03:36So, not only can you have it in the hands of the Scar King, but you could also wrap this
03:41around the body like he is in the film.
03:45It holds okay.
03:46It will be a little looser, though, on his torso, but I don't know how confident, really,
03:51I feel that have this constantly wrapped around his waist, just for the fear that that's going
03:54to start to maybe split the plastic.
03:57The plastic, by the way, that they have used, much like all other Hiya toy releases, is pretty
04:02decently made in quality.
04:04I mean, like, the only really worry that I might have is just the fact of always constantly
04:09having this bent and wound up like this.
04:11Will that eventually start to split the plastic?
04:13I don't really know.
04:14We're just looking at this now.
04:16Overall, it looks pretty good.
04:17I thought maybe that it was too bright of a beige, like it would look maybe a little
04:21more like a gray in the movie.
04:22I had to kind of go back and consult the scenes again, and yeah, I guess it's kind of more
04:26this beige color, but it is very nicely detailed.
04:29Short of maybe, oh, by the way, there's the handle there as well.
04:31We can get that into his grip in a second.
04:33And yeah, the only thing I probably would have said is just, I think painting this would
04:38have worked better in the favor of Scar King than relying on the translucent blue plastic,
04:42just that it doesn't pop.
04:43It just doesn't glow the way that it does in the film.
04:46Of course, he does have some gripping hands.
04:48He does also come include with closed, closed punching hands as well.
04:52This would be the gripping hand.
04:54This would be the closed gripped hand.
04:56I guess technically, no, no, this one's also a gripping, a closed gripped hand.
05:00He does also come include a pair of relaxed hands, which to be fair, I think were the
05:04hands that were with the figure when I first got him out of his packaging.
05:08He does also have some knuckle dragging hands, which actually, to be fair, I've already got
05:12on one end of the figure's body, as we saw at the very beginning of this review, while
05:16the figure was rotating on the rotisserie.
05:18The hands themselves can be swapped out fairly easy.
05:21One issue I had that I had to again go back and consult the film again.
05:26He does have sculpted fur on his hands, and yet I looked at that initially and thought
05:31that they probably may have missed some of the paint.
05:35Sure enough, though, with Scar, he does actually have gray forearms that go into his gray hands.
05:41Now, maybe you could be a stickler for detail and look at some of that and think they may
05:45have been able to still go in there and add additional brown.
05:48There's a little bit traces of it.
05:50Maybe they could have added just a little bit more brown.
05:52The unfortunate thing about this, though, is like if you look at the arm this way, then
05:57it looks pretty consistent.
05:59The moment, though, you start to turn the hand around, it does kind of look for a second
06:03like they hadn't completely finished painting it.
06:06I mean, again, like to go and look at that, he does have a few little individual hairs that
06:11have been painted in brown.
06:12But to look at it from a glance, it does kind of look like the hands are unfinished in paint.
06:18Changing any of the hand, let's make sure we grab ourselves a hand that has a grip to
06:22it.
06:23Is it this one here?
06:24No, I want to make sure I've got myself.
06:25Well, maybe, well, there's already technically a hand on this side, but we'll stick with that
06:29one.
06:29We'll also pop the hand off this side.
06:32Just again, wiggle it back and forth and remove it from the peg.
06:36And we'll grab maybe just, what's a good hand?
06:39We'll use a relaxed hand.
06:41Honestly, though, this hand probably is the better one to hold the whip anyways.
06:45I think he does use it technically on this side.
06:47You can correct me if I'm wrong, if that's the case.
06:50Again, the plastic is pretty good for these.
06:52You don't have to worry about heating them up right away.
06:54He does also, with this hand too, also have an extended finger.
06:58So it rests really nicely against the handle of the whip.
07:02And again, you can also have that bent in a way that you want, but that looks good.
07:07He poses pretty good.
07:08One of the concerns I was really worrying about was the fact that maybe with the figure's
07:12feet so small, he'd have a harder time balancing himself, especially with the whip in his hand.
07:17Doesn't seem to be the case at all.
07:19Scar King does also come in clue with three swappable heads.
07:23Technically two, if you count already the one that he has on this neck.
07:26Just get the figure here to stand for a second.
07:29The heads themselves, well, first of all, the stock neutral head that he has is this
07:34one right here, which I think is a great way to start things off.
07:39Detail-wise, it looks very much like the Scar King.
07:42I feel like maybe the eyes probably could have been just a little bit brighter.
07:45They really seem to pop, like the Shard for Shimo.
07:48I think they probably could have made those just a little bit brighter, but I think overall
07:51I don't really have many complaints when it comes to the look of Scar King here.
07:54He does also come in clue with this head portrait, which I would be more leaning, I think, towards
08:00changing, just because I like the idea that you can actually see his hanging out teeth.
08:04Does he have an underbite?
08:05I think he does actually have an underbite in the movie.
08:07And then he does also have a screaming face.
08:12So again, out of all those three, you could decide which one you'd like the most.
08:15I think most likely it'd be sticking still with the one with this one.
08:19I don't necessarily need to have the figure displayed always screaming on my shelf.
08:22What exactly is this guy screaming so much about?
08:25Yeah, I think this would be probably the better fit for my collection, at least.
08:28Let's hold on to the torso, just make sure this guy doesn't get loose.
08:31Pop the head off the ball peg.
08:34There we go.
08:36Now, I didn't have to heat this all at all with hot water.
08:39I found just twisting the head back and forth onto the ball peg seemed like it was enough
08:44to pop it securely in place.
08:47I say that now, I hope for the best.
08:49But again, like there's what the head sculpt looks like.
08:51Again, if you want to have the screaming face for Scar King, there's also that option as
08:56well.
08:56But I kind of think I like to stick with this head sculpt myself.
09:00He's a very different build of body, especially, again, if you compare him with Power Glove Kong.
09:05Kong is more stocky, much bulkier.
09:08And when it comes to Scar King, he's a lot leaner.
09:11He drags his arms a lot more.
09:13And where maybe he doesn't make it up for his strength, he makes it up with imposing
09:17presence and power.
09:18Because again, he's relying on Shimo to kind of instill fear among his minions.
09:23Fur, overall, does look good on this guy.
09:25You've got, again, the combination of the browns, the oranges in there as well.
09:29Well, I like that the colors bounce amongst themselves.
09:32There's some darker shades there.
09:34However, there's some lighter oranges in there as well.
09:37Kind of looks like a sunset.
09:38Of course, he does have the gray there striped across the front of his body.
09:41The big scar there on the front of his chest there as well.
09:44It's just a good looking figure.
09:47There's also a stylus series, by the way, for Scar King too, which I think is non-poseable.
09:51So if you don't necessarily really want to have Scar King always worrying about his poses,
09:56worrying about the bends in his elbows and all those things, stylus series certainly would
10:00be right up your alley as well.
10:01This guy could technically be also displayed on top of Shimo.
10:04I have looked at Shimo.
10:06Unfortunately, though, at the time of doing the review for this guy, I couldn't find the
10:09whereabouts of Shimo.
10:09I guess the shackles got loose and Shimo's on a merry little way.
10:13For the posability, though, for Scar King, let's go through that right now.
10:17He doesn't have anything for his mouth.
10:19But again, he doesn't necessarily need him.
10:20I mean, he's got the two looks that you would need anyways if his mouth was to open and
10:23close.
10:24The head sculpt, this, by the way, does show some additional tongue paint.
10:29Nice top and bottom teeth have been painted well.
10:32The head sculpt, by the way, actually, you know what?
10:34Seeing as that popped off anyways, we'll make sure we pop this securely in place.
10:39We've already looked, by the way, at the other two head sculpts.
10:41I want to make sure that...
10:42Now, I said you didn't necessarily need to heat this up.
10:44Of course, now I struggle getting that head in place.
10:48Is it all the way on there?
10:49It's not quite all the way on there.
10:51Pop the head.
10:52It snaps eventually in place.
10:54I think we've got it finally now.
10:56The ball joints in the head, by the way, are in two places.
10:59There's one here and then there's one here.
11:02Between those two, and I hope I've securely got this now in place, the head moves up and
11:06down, back and forth.
11:08And it does technically rotate too.
11:10Sometimes, though, again, as you are turning the head, it may pop itself off the ball joints.
11:14It's a simple fix.
11:15I mean, obviously, you're just going to pop it back in place.
11:17The neck is also on a ball joint.
11:19Now, that moves back and forth.
11:20Maybe not as much movement as what the head will allot it.
11:24The top of the torso is going to be on a quite generous bend.
11:28I mean, look how much forward and back you can get between the top of the torso and the
11:33abdomen below that.
11:34So, I like that quite a lot.
11:36He's probably one of the more flexible.
11:37I mean, since then, I mean, we've also got many different versions of Kong that have
11:42improved the posability.
11:43But, I mean, I think Kong may have been beaten by Skarking when it comes to how much mobility
11:48this guy actually does have.
11:50His arms rotate all the way around.
11:51There is a movement back and forth on the shoulders here.
11:54There is a swivel in his bicep.
11:56Nice range of motion in his elbow with a double bend there.
12:00Hands rotate all the way around as well.
12:03I'll be honest with you, though.
12:04I've spent a lot of time just doing this with Skarking.
12:07Couldn't believe how flexible this guy is.
12:09Again, in the top and the bottom of the torso.
12:12Legs split out.
12:13They're on ball joints.
12:14Of course, the legs can move forward and back as well.
12:16A little bit of, I say a little bit, there's quite a bit of swiveling there on the top because,
12:20again, it's attaching itself to a ball joint.
12:22This section here for Skarking does also rotate too.
12:27I wouldn't say it would be a ball joint.
12:29I mean, it does sort of feel like there's movement where you can move it back and forth,
12:32but it only more, I feel, swivels back and forth this way.
12:35Double hinge on the knee.
12:37Lower leg does rotate too.
12:39And he's got ankle pivot up and down and an ankle rocker as well.
12:44Of course, if you are collecting Godzilla X Kong, Godzilla X Kong, the new empire,
12:50obviously one that would be in your sights right now would be the Skarking.
12:53If you've already picked up Shimo, then of course you could have him riding Shimo too.
12:58But if you already have Power Glove Kong, I know that's not really the name of Kong here,
13:01and you have yourself the new empire, Godzilla.
13:05I think, again, like you really want to have the foil of the two.
13:08You'd like to have the Skarking.
13:09I like that Skarking does have as much as he has.
13:12I would expect at the very least, though, that the figure should have the whip.
13:15And he does.
13:16A quite flexible whip too.
13:18Again, I still feel like maybe they could have gone in there and painted the shard and
13:22maybe go in more of a pastel.
13:24Very bright blue would have maybe made that look like it glows a lot more.
13:28The thing about it, though, is, of course, I've also got the background here illuminated too.
13:33But even still, if you were to have this displayed on the shelf,
13:36wouldn't you really want to have the crystal look like it's actually been more glowing?
13:40I just feel like it's almost been turned off by using this translucent blue.
13:45Painting it, I feel, probably would have improved that and made it pop on the shelf a whole lot more.
13:51Skarking is a fantastic looking figure.
13:53He's poseable in a way that Kong really hasn't been able to deliver.
13:56I mean, to be fair, though, Godzilla and Kong, for that matter,
14:00because of the nature of their bodies, they're bigger, they're bulkier.
14:03They don't have as much mobility to them.
14:05Skarking in that department has them both beat.
14:08This guy is not only looking great on the shelf, but he's super poseable as well.
14:12The third quarter of 2026 is when Skarking leaves his underground kingdom in favor of land.
14:17That's when at least listings of him show online.
14:20The guy is shipping out third quarter 2026.
14:23The asking price, $59.99.
14:25Not a bad, again, price.
14:26Hiya Toys.
14:27The fact that this company continues to release outstanding looking Godzilla figures for the prices that they do.
14:34Most imports, and just for the reason why the prices of them are just way too high,
14:39why I don't look at them nearly enough here on this channel,
14:42usually you can easily expect to pay well over $100 here by the time that we convert things in Canadian
14:47dollars.
14:48Easily $100 to $150.
14:51This guy sells for $59.99.
14:54So he's $60 even if you factor in the conversion.
14:57That's still under $100 as a Canadian collector.
14:59You can't beat that price at all.
15:02Now this figure, again, is going to be shipping both in the standard version that we're looking at here.
15:06He's also getting a stylus series as well.
15:09So if you like a posed Skarking, you can also do that route as well.
15:13He is, though, a great-looking figure.
15:16Again, one thing I really like about Skarking in the movie was the fact that he didn't just look like
15:21an evil King Kong.
15:22He wasn't the same size.
15:23He wasn't the same build.
15:25Skarking kind of approached things differently with being able to outsmart Kong.
15:31And just the fact that, of course, he had the muscle, he had the power, with Shimo shackled up in
15:36the background.
15:37That's the thing I really like the most about Skarking is the fact that, yeah, if you were to muscle
15:41with Kong, Kong would easily be able, I feel, to beat the Skarking.
15:45But however, though, because he had the benefit of Shimo with him, Skarking was able to outmatch Kong and Godzilla
15:51just for that fact alone.
15:53He is, though, a taller figure than Kong, so that might bother some.
15:56Kong should really technically be taller than the Skarking, depending, again, on how you have him hunched over.
16:02Now, I had him standing straightly up when we brought in the other figures for comparisons.
16:06If you have him, however, though, in a hunch where he generally is like that in the movie, then you
16:10could compensate for the fact that as a figure he's taller.
16:13But on your display, he could be a whole lot shorter.
