00:21here's your look mcfarland toys elite edition image comic founders jim valentino's shadow hawk
00:33jim valentino is the creator of such diverse series normal man a touch of silver vignettes
00:38and shadow hawk as well as the creative force behind the guardians of the galaxy for marvel
00:42a co-founder of image comics he served as the company's publisher from 1999 to 2004
00:48changing the face of the company from one of the most stylistically diverse in the industry
00:52currently he heads his own division of image shadow line inc he publishes rat queens memoirs
00:58of a very stable genius and more and more he serves on the board of directors of the hero initiative
01:04and lives in portland oregon trophies anywhere nearby but i'm sure if she was she'd be adding shadow
01:09hawk to the elite edition figures she'd been currently collecting i have been currently
01:13collecting and reviewing in fact the elite edition founders figures now we're going to be looking our
01:18focus focusing our focus the jim valentino's shadow hawk let's get things going with first the tape
01:23measure and tape measure is telling me that shadow hawk stands seven inches in height working then
01:29roughly out to be a figure that's 18 centimeters tall to join with jim the other image comic founders
01:34figures we've already had a look at here's what he looks like with eric larson savage dragon and
01:38todd mcfarland spawn substantial amount of accessories come include with shadow hawk what also comes with a
01:43figure two is an elite edition 50 point card promise i haven't yet scratched this on the back

02:36founders elite edition shadow hawk card i like to look at this card that card actually that image
02:41by the way on the front of the card is the same image that they use on the back of

02:46uh it's a good substantial read-up jim valentino vice president if you did want to read it you could
02:51i've already taken the liberty though of reading it for you what i do also like that comes in clue
02:56with shadow hawk is an a gallery not so much an issue but a gallery it gives you at least
03:01a chance
03:01to kind of get an idea a rough idea of what shadow hawk's been doing when he's doing it in
03:07the
03:07comics there's shadow bone by the way i do hope at some point we get ourselves bone as part of
03:12the
03:12image founders there's also again a couple of illustrations there i think the artwork is really
03:17good on this i mean nobody's fooling themselves clearly though a lot of interest for maybe shadow
03:23hawk stemmed from the fact that the character looks a lot like wolverine and there's the back of
03:27image there let's put that off to the side one thing though that does come also included with
03:32shadow hawk is something we've seen before a display stand in fact this shape in fact this
03:37skull in fact this peg down below here that can plug into well either one really of shadow hawk's
03:42boots he does come in clue with some swappable hands there's gonna be a fair bit to cover through
03:47here on the ends already he has close fists if you don't like close fists and you want to do
03:51something different the figure does also come in clue with relaxed hands flat hands plotting hands
03:57he does also come include now again this is unfortunate he does have trigger finger hands
04:02and yet sadly though he doesn't come in clue with a blaster now i'm sure though with enough blasters
04:07to go around spawn in fact has been released with several blasters you probably could pillage one of
04:12those and use it with shadow instead he does also come included with his claw hands doesn't really
04:18help to distance yourself from what a character maybe a character that people think you resemble but he
04:23come with claw hands maybe not as long of claws and he actually gets four instead of three but yeah
04:29these look pretty cool i mean i i could swap these really out and given that or again i could
04:34probably
04:34go back to using the gripping hands because he does also come in clue with one of his shurinkins
04:38he's throwing disc blades that he has close contact melee weapons as well again it's not really serving
04:45you know what though this whole tokami let's actually get one of these hands going the downside
04:50though unfortunately is that if you did want him to hold anything the only really available option
04:55is these hands he doesn't necessarily have a dedicated c grip hand just plug that in place
05:00and we'll go ahead just get the blade in his hand kind of actually looks like a futuristic banana
05:09that looks very appealing stop that one thing it also comes included with shadow hawk is two gauntlet
05:15weapons now one is more kind of a bladed weapon looks very much something you'd expect the t1000 to
05:21have and i believe this is the grapple line hook that he also has as well doesn't detach at all

05:26actually does look like it already has started to fire by the fact that there's a chain a trail of
05:31chain
05:31behind now these can actually clamp onto his hands let's maybe remove the futuristic banana for right now
05:38these can clip onto his forearms it doesn't really necessarily matter which side you do this
05:42let's say you want to do it on this side yeah you can actually have those as well
05:47i like these i think most likely i'm going to be displaying the figure with these because i just
05:51think that you can't feel i would feel guilty putting something like that back away in a bag
05:56maybe also entertain the figure does also come include with the shield
06:00the shield does have the crest the marker of shadow hawk on the back of the shield actually clips on
06:06basically the exact same way so you know you can't double up the duties you're going to have to at
06:10least choose to remove one take that off for example take yourself the shield and the shield
06:16clamps just in place like that maybe on second thoughts maybe i'll 86 one of these in favor of
06:22the shield instead and then we can go again do that nobody cares nobody cares at all about this i'm
06:28sure maybe have it displayed like that a little much more interesting i'm sure of a pose but we'll
06:33stick with this for at least right now take that off the one other thing that comes included with
06:38shadow hawk if we just kind of move everything all out of the way is a swappable head sculpt
06:44now i generally for characters like this that have unmasked options i'd still would stick really
06:50honestly with the mask because that's for me the look that i'd rather go with displaying shadow hawk
06:54let's say though you don't like this look pop the head off swap it then out with the
06:59the unmasked portrait just make sure of course you're putting enough pressure down on the peg
07:04you know again i like that they gave unmasked we'll talk more about the belt in a second i know
07:09i like that they gave unmasked options like this but you know again like when you look at a character
07:13like this when you start to lose the thing that makes that character unique then all of a sudden
07:17it's just this guy walking around with a silver suit as good as the silver suit may be so again

07:23one last look to show you guys what the face looks like it's painted well i won't knock it for
07:28certainly that but for me again i'm going to pop that one off and beeline it back to the og
07:34there we go you know again it's it's it's undeniable that there is some strange resemblance
07:40between this character and certainly another popular marvel character but i think for what it
07:46is i think that's probably one of even in fact the reasons why i got so interested in shadow hawk
07:50as a
07:50kid i was just collecting the comments i'm like hey it's silver wolverine it's not really supposed to
07:55be wolverine but what i do think though that shadow hawk does deliver is a really neat looking
07:59finish this metallic metal finish that he has clearly is paint it does look though and i'm just
08:06going to kind of move his arms up here for a second the belt that he has is actually a
08:10separate piece
08:10and when you lift the belt up you can kind of see though it does look like they've used a
08:15previous
08:16figure body i wouldn't really be able to tell you what figure body it was i'm sure somebody i'm sure
08:20could tell me down below in the comment section it would have ideally been nice had they just
08:25maybe sculpted a new belt on him now with maybe not as much pertaining interest in getting shadow
08:30hawk on your shelf maybe not a lot of people would probably get this figure and they just didn't want
08:35to spend the time to retool that it's probably a whole lot more easier i think just to probably
08:39sculpt the belt again much like the shield you got the little shadow hawk symbol there on the front
08:43pockets look good though on this guy that's a big 90s thing everybody back then had pockets galore
08:50shadow hawk i guess got exempted from the idea he had to have like things around his thighs
08:54belts pocket belts all around his biceps as well minimally though he's not got a lot of sculpting
09:00going for him but i think really what pulls away from this character what the takeaway really is for
09:05this character is just the amount of cool looking silver that he has now while i do think though they
09:11probably have used the body that they've already released before not necessarily maybe a batman just
09:15judging by again the type of belt that he has it does perhaps look like they've maybe used the
09:20brand new sculpted forearm i don't recognize this one again i could be completely wrong but overall
09:25like the sculpting of the figure looks really good the silver does certainly pop a lot really does
09:30reflect the light really nicely on the figure now for the figure's articulation if you're really
09:35familiar with the dc multiverse more or less the same when it comes to really the possibility on this
09:39figure as well shadow hawk's head is going to be not just on a ball joint but there's actually
09:44technically a ball joint here and here as well so the figure does get a little extra mileage to work
09:50with head can rotate all the way around looks up looks down really actually quite far down and you
09:56can also move it back and forth as well for his arms yeah they do rotate all the way around
10:01you can
10:02easily pull these figures out pull this guy out with a 90 degree angle bend or t pose because it
10:07looks
10:07again like the capital t he has a bicep swivel does also possess a double hinge on the elbow and
10:13the
10:13hands whether you want to again use these hands or the other hands rotate all the way around quite
10:17freely too the top of the torso is on a ball joint the abdomen is also the same the only
10:24one other worry
10:24i really have not only is that i'm constantly bringing down the belt and when i do then move
10:29the figure around the belt shimmies its way back up countless times of doing this my only worry is
10:35that's going to start to scrape the silver paint it hasn't happened yet but i feel like there's a
10:40possibility for that and maybe also rotating the torso as much as i am as well right now
10:46maybe it's again like with that silver paint how well will that stay onto the plastic again time will
10:51only really tell legs do split you can also see that they've used somewhat of a silver peg system
10:57as well the hinge system for the tops of the thighs they do move forward and back the legs that
11:01is they do they do swivel at the top of the thigh just a little bit though double hinge on
11:06the knee
11:06there is no articulation here for the boots however though there is an ankle pivot up and down and an
11:11ankle rocker as well and oh by the way of course the figure does also have toe articulation i did
11:16notice though getting shadowhawk out of the packaging that his toes were tights toes were tights but you
11:23can still successfully get a hinge on those toes it's a good looking figure i don't know if i would
11:28say
11:29like i'm really i feel in it for the whole for the whole the full whole deal like i do
11:34really want to
11:34get all my hands my hands on all the uh founders figures i will say honestly though while i loved
11:40shadowhawk as a kid and i think just a lot of it just was by just proxy the fact this
11:44character clearly
11:45looks like somebody else um i i don't know if i would say of the figures that we looked at
11:50so far
11:50from the founders i don't know if i would say shadowhawk is my favorite he probably and based again
11:56only on the fact we've only looked at three i would say he's probably my third favorite uh spawn was
12:00probably number one don't really like still the color of the cape i also really think that savage
12:06dragon is a fantastic looking figure of shadowhawk is still good one of the benefits though of this
12:10guy is the fact he has a lot of accessories like the shield he comes with the different gauntlet blades
12:14comes with swappable hands and again like it's not really going to be helping his case the fact
12:19the figure does have claw hands even though again it's four blades instead of three shadowhawk's a good
12:24looking figure i don't know if i would really recommend him unless a you're a big fan of shadowhawk
12:29b you're just all in like myself and you want to be collecting all the image comic founders if that's
12:33the case then sure i would recommend getting this guy but i would probably recommend getting him
12:38after you've already picked up the ones on either side of him now i know what you're probably thinking
12:41bone was technically published though by john smith's own company cartoon books in 1991
12:46so he really shouldn't be released as part of the image comic founders figures
12:51technically though bone did get though a very brief run published by image comics in the mid-1990s
12:57so i think though he's still a candidate for something that we could see as a future figure
13:02release now he would be small of a figure maybe they could release a couple of bones and maybe
13:05give him a lot more of accessories but yet though i still hope that jeff smith's bone does eventually
13:11get a release by mcfarland toys admittingly though i would say like shadowhawk is my least favorite so
13:17far of what we've looked at not being anywhere near i feel the spectrum of savage dragon or like even
13:23for that matter todd mcfarland spawn i think those two figures so far have been the best ones but i
13:28think one thing that goes though for shadowhawk is the paint that they applied to the figure while
13:31admittingly i'm sure they probably have used an existing body i can't think that they would have
13:36molded one from scratch that's expensive that adds up instead what they decided to do is add a belt over
13:42top of an existing body i just just drawn a blank as to what body that may actually be
13:46the one worry though i do have about shadowhawk is as good as the paint may look i worry that
13:52paint may chip depending on how much friction is used adding like for example the gauntlets onto
13:57the forearms or even just even simply just rotating the top of the torso would that be enough to start
14:03to flake the paint i hope not because if anything could be said it's one of the selling points for
14:08shadowhawk i don't know if i really honestly display him unmasked i think anyone would recognize
14:14him much better they would either say well he's the silver wolverine but i think they would probably
14:18have a better idea of who the character is if i put it back the original masthead that the figure
14:23comes out of the packaging with what do you guys though think of jim valentino's shadowhawk is this
14:28a line of comics that you read as a kid i mean i know admittingly probably most people that probably
14:33picked this up said well i don't remember wolverine ever having a tinfoil suit no no it's it just looks
