00:04What's inside custom Blu-ray slip covers from VHS Slips?
00:13My box has arrived. I'm going to be opening this up, although, truth be told, I have already taken the
00:18liberty of cutting open the tape just to make sure that everything arrived A-OK.
00:22And everything did arrive A-OK. This comes to us from the folks over at VHS Slips.

00:32What exactly does VHS Slips do? Let's just say you've been living in a cave this whole time.
00:37VHS Slips, what they do is provide you slip covers for your current Blu-ray libraries.
00:43Could also be your 4Ks as well. You can check out what's going on over on Instagram.
00:47They also have on their listings a Google Doc that tells you all the movies that they've made slip covers
00:52for.
00:54Some of these movies are new. Some of the movies are old. I've got myself a total of 10.
00:59The price, by the way, for that, it was a little, I think it was around $90 US dollars.
01:04So it worked itself out to be about $10 a slip.
01:07The beauty of it, though, is not only can you go and figure out what exactly, what movie you want
01:11to get a slip cover for,
01:13but then you can also tell them, too, what size you want it for.
01:16Standard Blu-rays are clearly going to be a different size altogether than the Arrow videos that are going to
01:21be a little bit wider.
01:22So you just pick your movie, you tell them what size you need it in, and then, of course, finally
01:27the box does arrive.
01:28Now, they already have the pre-orders up right now for their August shift, the span of time from August
01:3423rd to September 12th.
01:36So during that time, you can get your pre-order in, and then they're going to be shipping then that
01:40month's box out after that.
01:42So we're going to go ahead, like I said, and we're going to open this up.
01:46It does come carefully packed inside of bubble wrap, so you don't have to worry necessarily for that.
01:50I got myself 10 of these, and I got myself the corresponding movies over here.
01:55So as I kind of pulled out each title, you may already be able to see one of the titles.
01:59The cool thing also about VHS slips is that they do regular postings, so that if they have done a
02:05new title, they have an announcement for that.
02:07One of the recent announcements happened to be the real reason why I ordered from them this month.
02:13We're going to put that right up to the side.
02:14I want to make sure I've got all my corresponding movies.
02:17I don't think I have them in the proper order, but we're going to figure out things.
02:21The first one that I ordered, and the main reason actually why I ordered from them this month,
02:26was the Camp Crystal Lake, Crystal Lake Memories, The Complete History of Friday the 13th.
02:31I'm going to grab my actual original case here.
02:34The original case, as far as I know, never came included with a slip.
02:37This is a fully involved documentary about the, obviously, the films of Friday, Camp Crystal Lake.
02:43Let me know.
02:44It's also based on a book, too.
02:45The book was good, but I do certainly like watching it instead of actually reading it.
02:49Now, with the slip, this particular one, and I'm just going to bring in another example I have right now.
02:54Now, Dr. Giggles, not to give anything away, Dr. Giggles was another one that I ordered from them.
02:59See how Dr. Giggles is a little thinner than the much wider Crystal Lake Memories.
03:04So, you may want to, again, when you order these, let them know what size case that you need.
03:08Or in a case like Camp Crystal Lake, they know that this case is going to be a little bit
03:12wider.
03:13The front of it is going to look the way it was on the book.
03:16And then on the back, there's Corey Feldman.
03:19The Complete History of Friday the 13th.
03:21Now, I'm not going to read all of these, but what they actually have done, too, instead of giving you
03:25the features,
03:26they give you the cases as if they look like old VHSs.
03:29So, like, the VHS on the back isn't necessarily going to tell you, like, anything featured-wise on there.
03:35But it will tell you, though, some in case some of the actors, for example,
03:38and it's going to give you a good substantial read-up.
03:40Very carefully printed on a good thick cardstock.
03:42And these are made in factories, so you don't have to worry necessarily that the adhesive is going to come
03:47loose on these.
03:48I'm going to open this up.
03:50Well, I'm going to open this just enough that I can get this around my case.
03:53Take my Camp Crystal Lake Memories.
03:56It's just like Jason coming home.
03:58Jason's coming home, and he finally has himself a slip.

04:10It has a good quality to these.
04:13This is, I think, now the fourth time I've ordered something from VHS Slips.

04:26The next one, while we're sticking with documentaries,
04:29the next one I got was Never Sleep Again,
04:31which I think was also one of the newest titles that they dropped.
04:34It's narrated by Heather Langlenkamp.
04:36Of course, we all know her as Nancy.
04:38Again, looks very much like, well, let's just bring in the movie.
04:42So there's what the movie looked like.
04:44And I don't know, again, if it actually had itself a proper slip.
04:47I don't think it did.
04:48But now it does.
04:50Looks very much like it does on the cover here.
04:53Just much, again, as a slip instead.
04:55Never Sleep Again.
04:56The Elm Street Legacy.
04:58Just a great, I mean, you could spend a whole lot of time
05:01just watching this documentary alone.
05:03How long is this, actually?
05:05Just to look at this.

05:10It's either 238 or 239.
05:12You probably can read it a little bit easier than I can.
05:14I think it's 239 minutes.
05:17That's a good hefty watch.

05:22First time I've had the chance to slide these movies in these slips.
05:25I got to say, it feels right.
05:28There we go.
05:29So now, putting this, if I was to put this on my shelf, I generally like to put my documentaries
05:33all together.
05:34So again, we got Crystal Lake Memories.
05:36Never Sleep Again.
05:39There was another also Friday the 13th documentary.
05:41I think it was called His Name Was Jason.
05:43It was hosted by Tom Zivini.
05:45Not really as good as Crystal Lake Memories, but I do hope at some point they've released a slip cover
05:49for His Name Is Jason.
05:52Let's see what else we got inside the tickle trunk here.
05:55Another one I've got, speaking of Freddy Krueger, Robert Englund in Phantom of the Opera.
05:59I didn't love Phantom of the Opera as much.
06:02I thought he was certainly interesting as a phantom.
06:05I honestly would have really liked had it been more in modern days.
06:08I think from what I remember, Phantom of the Opera, I think the girl, does she get knocked out or
06:13something inside of a library and her mind goes back?
06:16Like I said, it's been a while since I've seen Phantom of the Opera, and I happen to have myself,
06:21not knocking the camera over here, got myself the case right there, which again, looks very much like the slip.
06:28The only thing that they've done a little bit different is they've carried over the image here onto the side
06:33spine, and that's what it looks like on the back, by the way.
06:39Super sharp, super clear.
06:41Does it have the runtime down here?
06:43Oh, my eyes.
06:43Right there, 93 minutes.
06:4593 minutes.
06:47So we take the slip cover, just make sure we've got it opened enough, and we slide Phantom of the
06:53Opera in there.
06:57Now, while we are currently looking at all the titles that I've got for this month, I'm already planning out
07:02my order for the next following month, and I've got a couple of titles in mind.
07:06Where is, let's see if we can find Dr. Giggles here, just considering that I already had Dr. Giggles out.
07:12Dr. Giggles, I don't know, for one reason or another, they released the Blu-ray for it,
07:16but it's very bare basic.
07:18I mean, even just to look at the inside of it, yeah, there's like Larry Drake, but it doesn't really
07:22give you much.
07:23No bells, no whistles.
07:24There are a few features, but the one thing it didn't actually have was a slip.
07:28Something else I find with Dr. Giggles is that the image looks really faded.
07:32If you compare it, though, with the slip cover that we get from VHS slips, that's the color it really
07:38should have been.
07:38I don't know why it was as light as it was.
07:41Again, here's what the back looks like.
07:44Good, large enough read, at least if, even as an older person myself, I'd be able to read that easily
07:48enough.
07:50Run time is one hour and 36 minutes.
07:52That was back in the day when horror movies were easily to digest.
07:56Super, super short.
07:57Well, I mean, not super short, but it was long enough to enjoy.
08:02It wasn't a two to three hour movie.
08:04And there's what the slip cover looks like.
08:07There's the spine as well, Dr. Giggles.
08:10So let's say you happen to have Dr. Giggles, but for one reason or another, you just happen to have
08:14a thicker case of it.
08:16Just let them know, and then they'll customize the case for the, or customize the sleeve for the case that
08:21you're going to put inside of it.
08:23There's Dr. Giggles, put it right over there with the rest of the pile.
08:25You know what?
08:27Let's just move the pile a little bit more in frame so you guys can at least see that.
08:31Another one that you probably already are peeking at here on the top.
08:34Which is another one I didn't have a slip for.
08:36The Dorm That Dripped Blood, which I think was also called Pranks.
08:41Not a great movie.
08:42Daphne Zaniga is marketed on the back of it, although not to give anything really away, she just spent a
08:47whole lot of time in the movie.
08:50Where is...
08:51Again, I've got all my movies over here.
08:53Not that I could have really planned this to make sure I had them in proper order, but there is
08:57The Dorm That Dripped Blood.
08:59Does this have the reverse cover?
09:00It does.
09:00So, on the inside, you can see it says Pranks.
09:04I don't know.
09:05Like, Pranks, I don't think worked as well for a title.
09:08Dorm That Dripped Blood worked, I think, a little bit better.
09:10But with now having a slip cover, it basically just is that movie.
09:14For all intents and purposes, I could really just flip the insert around, have Pranks on the case, and then
09:20on the slip, have The Dorm That Dripped Blood.
09:23Very much, again, like you can see, the way that they've done the poster.
09:27Nice job on the slip.
09:29And there's the back of it right there.
09:33Now let's get this into the slip.
09:39They're pretty quick as well to answer questions.
09:41So if there's a certain thing that you're looking for, or you want to see images of a title that
09:45they have listed in their Google Docs, just, again, reach out to them in Instagram.
09:50And they're usually pretty quick to get back to you.
09:53So there's The Dorm That Drips Blood.
09:57Excuse me.
09:58I got a couple of newer titles here as well.
10:01Again, it's one of those cases that I had the movie, but when I picked up the movie, there's Prey,
10:06by the way, because we were just about to look at Prey.
10:08There's Prey, Never Came With A Slip.
10:10And I think, actually, I ordered this one on Amazon.
10:13And, you know, great movie.
10:15I loved Prey.
10:16But what I would have loved also, too, is if the movie could have come included with a slip.
10:19So I think with Prey, they have a couple of different cover arts.
10:23And it's usually like cover A, cover B, and then they ask you which cover you'd like to get.
10:28I liked this one.
10:29Just with, again, like the girl and there's the Predator.
10:31It basically is just this image down below here, a little bit larger.
10:35And there's the back of the slip.
10:38I like with being that this is supposed to look like a retro cover, that it has CBS Fox video
10:42on the top with the lines that go through it.
10:45But I think I may have even had the original Predator on VHS that had something similar.
10:51Oops.
10:52So let's just get the case here opened.
10:56And we'll slide Prey all the way in.
11:00That looks good.
11:01Looks good.
11:02Put that right over there.
11:04And while we're also on the topic of Predators, I also, in the meantime, did also get Predator Badlands, which
11:11I liked.
11:11I don't know if I would say I liked it as much as Prey.
11:14I thought Prey was maybe a better Predator movie.
11:16There's the case.
11:17This I actually bought on Walmart.
11:20I actually got directly at Walmart, but they didn't have the slip for it.
11:24I don't think they ever had a slip for this either.
11:26But you can see, though, like they've done a really great job of recreating that as a slip.
11:30Of course, on the side, it has Predator Badlands.
11:33That's what it looks like on the back.
11:35And, of course, you always really have the features.
11:37The features are still going to be there on the case.
11:39So while not having it necessarily on the back of the slip, I don't think it necessarily needs it.
11:44So we got two new Predators, and we got two slips for those Predator movies.
11:49Slide those all in.
11:50Now we got Prey, and we got Badlands.
11:54An older title that I grabbed, and this is actually a title I just recently watched, maybe about a month
11:59or so ago.
12:00I watched The Brain.
12:02Not a great movie.
12:03One thing that was interesting about it, though, is where I used to live.
12:06They shot the movie in that area.
12:09The old high school, for example.
12:11It was in Canada.
12:12And I didn't realize that until I was watching the movie, and I recognized some of the spots.
12:18So, again, the movie isn't great.
12:20The Brain.
12:21It's a big, giant brain.
12:23But I thought to myself, you know, they have The Brain available as one of their listings.
12:26So I thought I got myself the slipcover for that.
12:30It says Mind Over Matter.
12:32A very much similar image to the case.
12:35Of course, you've got the brain on the side there as well.
12:38Giant brain.
12:39There's a giant brain that, you know, the brain gets bigger, I guess, as it ingests humans.
12:45And let's just, again, open this up just a little bit.
12:48Take ourselves the brain and slide the brain inside.
12:54Now, I don't know how you really feel when it comes to slips.
12:56I feel, honestly, like it looks a little bit nicer on the shelf.
12:59Some people would just prefer to have, like, some people are just like, buddy, I don't even care.
13:02I don't care.
13:04I would just rather have the movies on the shelf where I can just pull them off the shelf.
13:07I'd open up the case, and I'd get the movie right away.
13:09But for me, I have to work a little harder to get the movie out.
13:12But I think it looks a little nicer.
13:14It's like hardcover books.
13:16You like to have the spine.
13:17I like to have the spine.
13:18I like to have something a little bit more substantial to look at on the shelf.
13:22Speaking of substantial, I also grabbed myself, Don't Go In The Woods.
13:27I think it used to also say, yeah, Don't Go In The Woods Alone.
13:30But that's the case for that.
13:32And let's bring in the movie here just to show you.
13:34Now, the case is a little bit different.
13:36The case is yellow.
13:38The slip is black, but it has the same image.
13:40It doesn't have alone down below, though, granted.
13:43But it does have Don't Go Into The Woods.
13:45Warning, this motion picture depicts scenes of graphic violence.
13:48I loved Don't Go Into The Woods.
13:51I say into, it's Don't Go In The Woods.
13:54That's what it looks like on the back.
13:55And here's what the slip looks like on the back.
13:58Everyone has nightmares about the ugliest way to die.
14:03So we'll put this.
14:06I guess now that I've started the trend of getting like these outdoor horror slips, I'm going to see if
14:12maybe they have some of the other ones as well.
14:14Yeah, that's going to look really good.

14:17It's, I keep going, I keep adding into.

14:23The last one I also got, and it isn't so much really a horror movie, but it's one of my
14:27favorites growing up.
14:28Adventures in Babysitting.
14:30Now, I think, again, I picked this up at Walmart.
14:33Dirt Cheap.
14:34I don't know if there's ever going to really be a deluxe Blu-ray treatment of Adventures in Babysitting.
14:38But this, you know, this does what it needs to do.
14:40What does it have for features?
14:43It doesn't, I don't think it has any features.
14:46No.
14:46Oh.
14:48No.
14:48No, it doesn't have any other features.
14:49So it's basically just bare bones the movie.
14:52But while being good, I actually have the larger poster of this downstairs as well where my movies were.
14:57But I did want to get myself a slip for this, and I think this is also one of the
15:00more recently advertised ones that they had on their Instagram.
15:03So, again, I saw that.
15:05I thought to myself, hey, I wouldn't mind having a slip for Adventures in Babysitting.
15:09Is it a movie I watch frequently?
15:10Maybe not as much now.
15:12But it's still a movie I think really does deserve a slip cover.
15:15I mean, if I like it enough for a poster.
15:17It's certainly one of the cooler posters from the 80s as well.
15:21Back when somebody would have gone in there with a paintbrush and painted this meticulously.
15:26I think, again, VHS Slip's done a nice job on the slip cover for this.
15:29And that's what it looks like on the back as well.
15:32Somewhat similar.
15:34So let's get that opened up last slip cover.
15:39And we'll go ahead and slide that in.
15:43So, not bad.

15:44I got myself 10 titles.
15:46There was a couple more titles I was also looking at, and I thought to myself, you know what?
15:49Maybe we'll wait for the next time.
15:51The next time their pre-orders go up, and then I'll end up adding a couple more.

16:50And then just by that, I went down the rabbit hole, as it always usually is the case.
16:53And I ended up grabbing myself a lot more than expected.

17:31So, you want to make sure, of course, when you are ordering from them, if you have an Aero movie,

17:36that's a wider case, some 4Ks are a little bit wider, too.
17:39Let them know to make sure you get the proper size slip for the proper size movie.
17:44Like I said, I did order these ones.
17:46I think 10 titles cost me a little less than 90.
17:50It was like 80, 90 US dollars.
17:52Not bad.
17:52I mean, it kind of worked its way out to be about $10 a slip.
17:55Which I don't think is that bad of a price at all.
17:57If you're one that really does, obviously, like collecting your movies with slip covers,
18:01something like this, obviously, would be a little bit more up your alley.
18:03If you really don't care at all about slips, then you would just be perfectly fine to have the movies
18:07the way that they are.
18:08But I like this.
18:09I think this looks a little bit nicer and prettier on the shelf.
