00:00Good afternoon. It's going to be a chilly night tonight for many areas, particularly in the east.
00:04But this afternoon brings more in the way of sunshine, dry weather and calmer weather as well.
00:10It was quite a windy day yesterday thanks to low pressure.
00:12That's now just a trough out in the North Sea.
00:15It's continuing to bring some windier weather to eastern coast through this morning as well as some showery rain.
00:20Now that's going to move away through today and a ridge of high pressure builds in instead.
00:25There's still a few showers around this morning across some in western areas through the Cheshire Gap in particular.
00:31Those showers should tend to fade away and they're relatively light at the moment.
00:35So a dry and bright afternoon for much of the UK.
00:38Some cloud here and there. It's not going to be wall-to-wall sunshine.
00:41And we do have quite fresh air over the UK and northerly winds.
00:45So it's going to be a little bit below average temperature-wise.
00:48Temperatures quite widely in the high teens, just about scraping 20 degrees in the south.
00:52So without the sunshine, it's not going to feel all that warm.
00:55But it's certainly going to be a calmer day than yesterday and it should be quite a dry one as
01:00well.
01:00Clear skies for many of us tonight.
01:02So starry skies for many areas.
01:05It's going to be quite a nice sunset as well, I should expect, particularly across western areas.
01:09Clearer skies most long-lived across the east.
01:12So temperatures will fall away the lowest for these areas as the next band of rain is pushing in from
01:18the west by Thursday morning.
01:20So across eastern areas, temperatures rurally getting down as low as 3 or 4 degrees across parts of England and
01:26Wales.
01:27Scotland could see temperatures as low as 1 degree to start the day.
01:30But as you can see, many towns and cities, double digits just about, but it will certainly feel fresh.
01:35The winds start to pick up across more western areas, parts of Northern Ireland, western Scotland, west Wales in particular.
01:41And some outbreaks of rain through Thursday morning.
01:44Some of these heavy, but mainly just a lot of cloud and some light rain through much of the morning.
01:49That rain will push eastwards through the day, pushing into parts of central England, covering much of Northern England and
01:55Scotland by the afternoon.
01:57The south and east will escape much of the rain through the day.
02:01And it's going to feel a little bit warmer with southerly winds through Thursday.
02:04So temperatures 21 or 22 degrees in the south and east.
02:08To the west, though, it's going to be warmer than today by the figures, as the figures show.
02:12But it's going to feel a little bit fresher with stronger southwesterly winds and some rain on and off through
02:18the day.
02:19I think the rain's going to be the heaviest for more northern areas.
02:22Across the south, it will come and go.
02:23But there is a chance of some heavier bursts across parts of South Wales and into central areas into the
02:29evening.
02:29Before that, rain ban clears to bring us another dry and fine day on Friday.
02:34But more rain is on the way for the weekend.
02:37So a very changeable picture.
02:38But Alex Burke will have more details on your longer range forecast on our latest 10-day trend on YouTube
02:44later today.
02:45So make sure you check it out.
02:46Bye-bye.
