00:00Hi there and welcome to the latest update from the Met Office. A weekend of
00:04two halves depending on where you are across the UK it'll either be cloudy and
00:08damp or warm and bright and that's because we've got high pressure extending
00:12from the Azores to affect many parts of the south of the UK but around the top
00:16of the high these lingering weather fronts which will ebb and flow across
00:20Scotland, Northern Ireland, Northern England as well although for parts of
00:23Wales and the west of England we start the weekend with some cloud and some
00:27spits and spots of rain, rain easing for Northern Ireland, Northern England and
00:31for central and southern Scotland it's coming and going through the day more
00:35persistent over western hills of Scotland but additionally Northern Scotland
00:39turning a little drier by the afternoon but the driest and brightest weather will
00:44always be across the south the Midlands, South Wales, southern and southeastern
00:49England seeing plenty of warm sunshine and in fact temperatures reaching the
00:53mid-twenties widely 27 28 Celsius possible in the southeast. High teens
01:00generally elsewhere and not feeling very pleasant where we've got that persistent
01:04rain and a keen breeze from the west across western and central Scotland. The
01:09rain easing for a time into the evening but another pulse of wet weather comes
01:14along it tends to affect more southern parts of Scotland into Northern Ireland,
01:20north west England overnight some thicker cloud and some rain over the hills of
01:24North Wales as well. Northern Scotland a few showers some clear spells here and
01:29generally dry for eastern Scotland but the clearest skies would be in the south
01:33despite the clear skies a warm night for all of us temperatures in many places
01:38staying in the mid or even high teens. Now we start Sunday with similar contrasts
01:44across the United Kingdom compared with Saturday morning thick cloud and
01:48outbreaks of rain spreading across many parts of Scotland away from the far
01:51north. Northern Ireland turning a little drier for a time northern England
01:55subject to the rain as well mostly affecting Cumbria parts of the Pennines. To
02:00the south it's dry it's bright plenty of sunshine just some medium and high
02:05level cloud drifting in from time to time and a little warmer temperatures a
02:09degree or so up compared with Saturday still on the cool side for western
02:15Scotland northwest England Northern Ireland but that's going to change through
02:19next week although we start with that north-south contrast next week we're
02:23going to end up with high pressure across much of the UK
