00:00Hello there, a real split picture in the temperatures through the next few days.
00:05Quite cold across northern areas and turning milder just for a time across the south.
00:10You can see on the satellite picture from this morning we've got cloudy skies across
00:14Northern Ireland and much of Scotland. That's a cold front that's not moving anywhere too quickly
00:20but it is bringing quite a lot of cloud and behind it colder air to parts of Scotland and
00:25Northern Ireland and later into the weekend parts of Northern England too. But ahead of that at the
00:30moment it's quite bright out there across much of England and Wales. Those brighter skies could allow
00:36a few showers to develop into the late afternoon particularly across Wales and into the Midlands.
00:40Some of these could be quite heavy so that's one to keep an eye on through the afternoon on our
00:44radar
00:45maps which you can find on our app and website. Further north some rain lingering from this cold
00:51front and behind it it will turn brighter for parts of the northwest but also a brisk northwesterly
00:57wind will bring a fresh feel here. Highs of 20 degrees are possible across the far south and east
01:03as those will be the highest temperatures for today. Now that split in the milder and colder weather
01:09continues into the start of the weekend as well as this cold front sinks a little bit further south
01:14into parts of southern Scotland, northeastern England here this is where the cloud will linger
01:19as well as the drizzly rain and behind it well we could see a touch of frost I think only
01:24in the
01:25most sheltered areas there's still quite a brisk northerly wind. It's going to be a cold start to
01:29the day though across the north and west wherever you are with temperatures widely in single figures
01:35the low single figures in fact. Across the south parts of England and Wales a fairly fresh start to
01:41the day but we should be frost free. Now this cold front will really linger through much of the day
01:46across
01:47parts of northeastern England and southeastern Scotland bringing a cold and damp feel to many
01:52areas. Across the south big contrast still much milder warm in fact with temperatures over 20 degrees
02:00but once again we could see a few heavy showers particularly across more southern and western areas
02:05of the UK. Should be a dry day though across the far north and west but a chilly one temperatures
02:12for some
02:12areas still in single figures. Now how does that compare to average temperatures for the time of
02:18year? Well this is how they compare in fact you can see those milder temperatures across the south
02:23while they are above average we're usually approaching 20 degrees by this point in May. Across the north
02:29though we should still be in the teens in fact but so those single figures are well below average so
02:34I
02:34think a pretty disappointing weekend with regard to how warm it's going to feel across northern areas and
02:40that cold air sinks a little bit further southwards into Sunday. There should still be some brighter
02:44weather around as well and it's still warm in the sunshine despite cold air being around. Thank you
02:50very much for joining me. Don't forget to subscribe to our YouTube channel and I will see you again very
02:55soon. Bye-bye.
