00:00Hello. Hope you're having a good Sunday. There's actually quite a bit of bright weather for many of us through
00:05this afternoon, but not in the north.
00:07Here's Storm Bulow still bringing some very wet and very windy weather.
00:11Looking at the satellite picture from yesterday evening, you can really see this swirl in the cloud, and it's this
00:18that is Storm Bulow.
00:20It's brought some very strong winds, gusts in excess of 80 miles per hour, a significant amount of rain, and
00:27no wonder really, a very deep area of low pressure, close to record-breaking for the time of year.
00:32That low has tracked just over the very far north of Scotland. It is now starting to clear away, but
00:38nonetheless, there's still more unsettled weather to come through this afternoon.
00:41Across many areas, however, like I mentioned, there's some bright sunny weather to be had, especially across much of England
00:47and Wales.
00:48A few showery outbreaks, yes, but lots of dry, sunny weather here. Some sunshine in between the showers across parts
00:53of Northern Ireland, Northern England, and some southern parts of Scotland.
00:57It's towards the north and east of Scotland, where we continue to have quite a bit of rain.
01:02We also have those strong, gusty winds to watch out for, and they're going to take the edge of the
01:06temperatures, make it feel colder than these temperatures suggest.
01:09In the south, however, the winds are easing lighter than recent days, and with all that sunshine, well, not feeling
01:14too bad for this stage in October.
01:16But let's look at the gusts. They have already been very strong, in excess of 80 miles per hour in
01:22some places, and there's the continuing risk of very strong winds coming down from the northwest, affecting northern parts of
01:30Scotland in particular.
01:31Also, some eastern areas seeing some strong gusts as we head towards the evening, but as Boulot clears away, the
01:36winds will be dropping out as well.
01:38Now, we do have a couple of wind warnings out currently.
01:42We have a large yellow warning across parts of North Wales, Northern England, and also the whole of, well, pretty
01:48much the whole of Scotland.
01:50And that covers for very strong gusts still, 60, 70 miles per hour, even in more inland areas, and perhaps
01:5780 miles per hour still in more exposed spots.
02:00It's the amber warning, which is slightly smaller, but it's in this area where there's still the risk of significant
02:04impacts through much of today.
02:06We're talking travel disruption, flying debris, trees being blown down, as well as power cuts.
02:10So if you can avoid travelling this afternoon in this area, then please do so.
02:15Also worth mentioning, there is a rain warning.
02:17It's about to expire in the next couple of hours, but nonetheless, some places have seen in excess of 100
02:21millimetres in just 24 hours,
02:23and there's more heavy, persistent rain to come for a little while yet.
02:27Now, as Boulot clears away, there is something a bit quieter for a time, but we're already looking closely at
02:32this deep area of low pressure that's heading towards us.
02:35This looks like it's going to, well, stay a little bit further away than Boulot, but nonetheless, I'm expecting some
02:42wet and windy weather to arrive,
02:43particularly later Monday and more so into Tuesday, and that could cause some more impacts, especially in places recovering after
02:50Boulot.
02:51But back to this evening, and don't forget to comment on how dark it is after the clocks went back
02:56last night.
02:57A wet end to the day across the far northeast of Scotland.
03:00Still some showery bursts of rain for many northern northwestern parts.
03:04Drier towards the south for a while, but later on in the night, as we head towards dawn,
03:09we're going to see some cloud and some rain spilling in.
03:12That's being driven by that low pressure that I mentioned earlier.
03:15So in the southwest, as that cloud and that rain comes in, temperatures will be picking up.
03:19So relatively mild here first thing on Monday morning.
03:22Elsewhere, a bit fresher, especially where we get any clear skies.
03:26And as those winds drop out, it could lead to temperatures dropping fairly low in some places.
03:31And then a big talking point through Monday will be the rain, initially in the south and west,
03:35but it is going to spill its way across all parts.
03:38So all of us will have some rain.
03:40It could come through morning rush hour for western areas, causing spray on the roads.
03:44It will be a bit later towards the north and east, and it's going to be persistent, heavy at times,
03:49and then something a bit drier, brighter, perhaps, developing from the southwest later on.
03:54Temperatures, well, we're actually dragging in warmer air from the south-southwest,
03:58so they are going to be markedly higher than of late, mid to high teens across some southern parts.
04:04But there will be strong gusty winds around, and they're going to strengthen even further,
04:09especially across the north as we go into Tuesday.
04:12That's something to keep on top of.
04:14So stick with us, and you'll be up to date.
04:16Bye-bye.
