00:00Good evening. A bit of a break from the intense downpours and lightning strikes through this
00:05evening. Showers will tend to fade away as we're between low pressure systems, but only
00:10for a short period overnight. More wet weather is on the way throughout Saturday, but a dry
00:15and clear night to come for many areas, particularly across more northern and eastern areas of
00:20the UK. A bit more on the way of cloud filling in to the far north of Scotland, but it's
00:24to the south and west where this next area of low pressure that you can see here, the
00:28winds whizzing around that will start to arrive, bringing some very wet weather indeed through
00:33Saturday morning, also strengthening winds. Now ahead of this area of low pressure, it's
00:38going to freshen up a little bit by tomorrow morning, so not quite as close overnight as
00:42it has been the past few nights and plenty of sunny weather to start the day at least.
00:48But then the bank holiday gets off to a bit of a wet and for some of us windy start.
00:52The
00:52winds will start to pick up across the south coast and they will stay relatively strong
00:57throughout much of Saturday, particularly across more southwestern areas, exposed coasts. So do
01:03take note of that if you are any outdoor events or if you're camping this weekend.
01:07The rain could turn quite heavy and thundery as it pushes into more central areas of England
01:11where we've had some quite intense thunderstorms already through the past few days. So there
01:15are a couple of watch points for rainfall accumulations through the next few days, particularly as we head
01:20towards Sunday. But for northern areas, much of Scotland actually is going to be quite a dry day,
01:25plenty of bright weather as well. That northerly wind not making it feel all too warm across the
01:30north coast, but more sheltered areas, temperatures climbing towards 20, 21 degrees. Elsewhere though,
01:36for much of England and Wales in particular, it's going to be a markedly cooler day. Temperatures
01:40actually just around average, which is not something we've seen often throughout the summer
01:45so far, which is of course coming to an end into next week. Sunday brings more in the way of
01:51showers.
01:51Again, a little bit of a drier interlude through Saturday night, but the rain could linger quite
01:56a while across some eastern areas in the north. And further showers are likely to move into parts
02:02of Scotland. So after a bit of a dry day on Saturday, it turns a bit wetter on Sunday.
02:06And there will be some showers around, but also some drier interludes overnight. So a bit of a mixed
02:11picture, to be honest with you, Saturday night. Another relatively fresh night. You can see the humidity
02:16and heat starting to pick up a little bit though in the south, just as we get some warmer air
02:21pushing
02:21up from the south, from the Atlantic. The next area of low pressure is set to move in through
02:27Sunday. This time it takes more of a northwesterly track, so it will affect more areas for the
02:31north-west, northern Ireland, north-western Scotland. Eastern England getting off with a dry
02:35start, but then showers start to spread across the UK, pushing into eastern areas by the end of Sunday.
02:42Not everywhere will see these showers. We're not expecting widespread rain through Sunday. It's
02:46definitely a showery picture, but where they do hit, they could be thundery, bringing quite a lot
02:51of rain in a short period of time. So although it is much awaited rain, where it falls in a
02:56short
02:56space of time, there is a continued chance of some surface water flooding like we've seen this week.
03:02Temperatures again, quite close to average. It will feel a little bit warmer on Sunday with a bit more
03:06sunshine around, but the winds are going to pick up again in more south-western areas through the
03:10latter part of Sunday as well. So potential for some quite strong winds at times throughout this
03:16weekend, particularly if you are at any outdoor events. They could bring a little bit of disruption,
03:21certainly something to think about. Stays unsettled into Monday. Tuesday, low pressure
03:26starts to be situated more to the north with some drier weather in the south, but we'll be keeping you
03:31up to date with all of that all through the bank holiday weekend on our YouTube channel. Have a lovely
03:36weekend. Bye-bye.
