29 June - National evening forecast presented by Annie Shuttleworth.
Transcript
00:00Good evening. After a pretty fine start to the week, we're in for some heavier rain through tonight, particularly across
00:05more north-western areas.
00:07An area of low pressure brings spells of heavy rain to parts of Northern Ireland and western Scotland through this
00:12evening, pushing into more bodily across Scotland by tomorrow morning.
00:16Much more in the way of cloud overnight across much of England and Wales too. Some spells of rain, but
00:21relatively light rain as we look further south.
00:23The winds will also pick up across more western areas in particular. So a bit of a breezy night, a
00:29lot of cloud around, which means a relatively mild start to the day once again.
00:32It's probably going to be a warmer night tonight than it was last night. Temperatures holding up in the high
00:37teens across the southeast, lower teens to start the day further north and west.
00:42But it will be quite a wet start across parts of Northern Ireland and Scotland. The rain will continue through
00:47much of the day.
00:48We could see some of these showers turn pretty heavy. There's a risk of thunderstorms, lightning involved in these areas
00:53of showers as well, particularly towards lunchtime as this band pushes more eastwards across the country.
01:00That risk pushes into parts of Northern England as well as Wales by the afternoon.
01:04Further south and east, it is looking like a pretty dry and bright day. It will be a bit of
01:08a breezy afternoon thanks to that area of low pressure.
01:11But still relatively warm. Temperatures quite widely in the low 20s. Not as hot as it has been lately, but
01:16certainly pretty warm and reasonable in the sunshine.
01:19Temperatures about 25 degrees at best in the south and east. Lower than that elsewhere further north and west in
01:25the high teens.
01:26But quite a lot of rain and strong breeze through much of the day.
01:31That low pressure stays with us through Tuesday evening. The showers push into more eastern areas.
01:35Southeast areas could see a spell of rain before high pressure builds in for a time. A ridge of high
01:40pressure to bring a more settled night.
01:42Less in the way of cloud. There will be some thicker cloud across more western areas, particularly coastal areas and
01:47high ground.
01:48It's going to be a little bit murky overnight Tuesday night and through Wednesday morning.
01:53But across the east, quite clear start to the day. So it will be a little bit fresher. Temperatures around
01:5814 or 15 degrees quite widely to start the day.
02:01A little bit cooler than that further north, particularly in the sheltered glens of Scotland.
02:06Into Wednesday we're expecting more in the way of cloud to push into parts of Northern Ireland and Scotland once
02:12again.
02:12And the next area of low pressure moves in. Further south, high pressure holds on to bring quite a dry
02:17day.
02:18Quite a lot of cloud though pushing into the afternoon to make the sunshine a little bit hazier.
02:22There's some uncertainty as to how far south this rain will extend into parts of Northern England as well as
02:27North Wales.
02:28But further south, it is going to be another warm day. Temperatures possibly reaching 26 degrees on Wednesday with quite
02:34a lot of dry weather around.
02:36But notice the winds across the northwest. It's going to be another windy evening on Wednesday evening across the far
02:42northwest.
02:43And then high pressure starts to build in more widely from Wednesday evening onwards, particularly across more southern areas.
02:50It's the Azores high. It builds up from the Azores and that will bring higher temperatures in towards the weekend
02:56as well.
02:56But you can find more details on your full week ahead forecast on YouTube already. Check it out. Bye bye.
