00:00Good evening. We're at the start of a rather fine weekend for much of England and Wales as high pressure
00:05is pushed in.
00:06Low pressure is still in charge though further north and for Scotland, parts of Northern Ireland, it's going to be
00:11a bit of a wet night
00:12as westerly winds continue to feed in some showers that will be quite heavy at times.
00:17More eastern areas in the north should escape much of the rain, but it is going to be quite a
00:21cloudy start to the day across the far north.
00:24Further south, plenty of clear skies. There could be some mist and fog across the far southwest.
00:28Temperatures will be around 11 or 12 degrees to start the day.
00:32Rurally, it will be a little bit fresher than it has been lately, but I don't think you'll notice it
00:37too much
00:37because there will be some quite strong sunshine for much of England and Wales throughout Saturday.
00:42Some of this cloud across the north will feed into more central areas, making the sunshine a little bit hazier
00:47through the afternoon.
00:48There's a risk of showers across parts of Northern England, Southern Scotland, but it's really the far north of Scotland
00:53that will see the focus of the showers through the day, fairly frequent and at times heavy.
00:57The wind's turned to more of a northerly direction by the end of Saturday as well,
01:02so temperatures will be well below average across the far north of the Highlands, Northern Isles in particular,
01:08just in the mid-teens, 14 or 15 degrees.
01:12Further south, it's going to be a pretty warm day.
01:14Temperatures reaching 23 degrees in the southeast, 22 to 20 degrees across the far south coast of England as well.
01:22So quite a warm day, particularly compared to the pretty cool week that we've had for much of the UK.
01:28It remains quite dry across England and Wales and much of eastern Scotland throughout Saturday evening.
01:33Some showers affecting parts of Northern Ireland and the far north of Scotland,
01:37but it should turn drier overall across the UK into Sunday morning.
01:41That's because high pressure's becoming a more dominant feature.
01:45But notice the winds turn to more of a north-easterly across more of the parts of the east coast.
01:49Elsewhere, we'll see very light winds, so that could allow some mist and fog to develop across parts of Wales,
01:55southwest England, possibly across more western areas further north to start the day on Sunday.
02:01And although towns and cities will be 10 or 11 degrees,
02:03I think rurally we could be down into the mid-single figures to start the day on Sunday.
02:07So if you're heading out camping, you'll notice a bit of a chill on Sunday morning.
02:12But it's going to be a bright start on Sunday morning.
02:15Plenty of sunshine through the day, much more widely in fact.
02:18The sunshine's going to be a bit hazy at times.
02:20It's not going to be crystal clear blue skies across the whole of the UK all day,
02:24but certainly more sunshine than we've seen recently.
02:28Notice this area of rain pushing into parts of the Midlands.
02:30I don't think we're going to see too much in the way of rain from that,
02:33just perhaps some thicker cloud across parts of Wales, central areas of England,
02:38perhaps down into the southeast by Sunday afternoon.
02:41So where we do see the thicker cloud, temperatures will be pegged down a little bit compared to Saturday.
02:46But for most of us, it's going to be a pretty warm day with temperatures in the high teens, if
02:51not the low 20s.
02:52And this is how the temperatures compare to Saturday's temperatures on Sunday.
02:57You can see that across more southwestern areas, it's going to be a rather warm day.
03:01In fact, we're expecting the highest temperatures across the UK to be across parts of North Devon, southern areas of
03:07Wales.
03:07Perhaps we see temperatures climbing towards the mid 20s, a much warmer day to come on Sunday compared to Saturday
03:13across parts of Scotland,
03:14northern Ireland, a little bit fresher across northeaster coast, though.
03:18That's because we've got that northeasterly wind.
03:19And when we hold on to that cloud, it's going to be a slightly cooler day.
03:23But still, you'll see temperatures in the low 20s, so pretty much above average or just around average.
03:29So quite warm, but it could turn warmer into next week, potentially quite hot by the end of next week.
03:35So make sure you stay tuned to the forecast through this weekend.
