00:00Good evening. It's been a bit of a dull day for some of us, but there is more sunshine on
00:04the cards for Saturday at least.
00:06But for the rest of this evening, still got a low pressure system and some weather fronts pushing across more
00:11southern and central areas of the UK.
00:13The rain will linger across the east for a little while actually into this evening and into tomorrow morning.
00:19Elsewhere though, a ridge of high pressure toppling in, bringing clearer skies for parts of Northern Ireland.
00:24Much of Scotland here will turn quite chilly overnight.
00:27But further south, lots of rain around. It's going to be another damp night, particularly across eastern areas.
00:32There's a risk of some heavier bursts into this evening as well.
00:35Just start to dry up by tomorrow morning across parts of West Wales, the southwest of England.
00:41But further north and west where we have those clear skies to start the day, it's going to be a
00:45cold and frosty start to the day,
00:47particularly across north and western parts of Scotland down to minus six or minus seven in Shelter Glens.
00:52Much milder picture though, across the south and east, but it's going to be a wet start to the day.
00:58And the rain could linger here through at least the first part of Saturday.
01:01Elsewhere though, that ridge of high pressure doing its work to bring the sunshine for the weekend.
01:06Saturday is going to be the drier day of the weekend for the bulk of us.
01:10Some cloud lingering across eastern areas into the afternoon.
01:13But for most western areas, there will be some sunny spells, with them being most long-lived across the far
01:18north of Scotland, in fact.
01:21And temperature-wise, it's going to be a pretty chilly-feeling day, especially compared to earlier on this week.
01:26Temperatures around seven or eight degrees in the north, ten or eleven in the south, so a fairly fresh feel.
01:31But that is around average for the time of year, in fact.
01:34Now, the next band of wet weather pushes in through Saturday evening.
01:37Fairly light rain at first, could see a touch of snow as it falls into that colder air over the
01:42high ground of Scotland.
01:44And then further persistent rain arriving by the early hours of Sunday.
01:48A blanket of cloud ahead of this, for all of us, is going to be a milder night.
01:53We've got southerly winds starting to pick up, so even if it is a chilly start to the night, it's
01:58going to be much milder by the time you wake up on Sunday.
02:01As this mild air pushes up from the south and west, bringing a very different feel to the day on
02:07Sunday.
02:07Quite windy, though, with those southerly winds.
02:10The rain's going to be most persistent across western areas.
02:12It will reinvigorate across parts of Northern Ireland, parts of western Scotland as well.
02:17Elsewhere, it will turn somewhat drier, rain mostly restricted to the high ground and the coast into the afternoon.
02:23But for all of us, it's going to be a pretty cloudy day.
02:26Milder, though, as I mentioned, 11 or 12 degrees for many towns and cities.
02:30So a bit above average, I think you will notice that different feel.
02:34But there's going to be very little in the way of sunshine.
02:37As we head further on into next week, the start of meteorological spring, well, it stays unsettled to start.
02:43But by Tuesday, the sunshine may return.
02:46Have a great evening.
02:47Bye-bye.
