00:00Good afternoon. We finally broke the 62-day dry streak across parts of Surrey last night.
00:06Many southern areas saw outbreaks of rain last night. That's thanks to this blanket of cloud,
00:11a waving front sat down to the south of the UK. That will clear through the rest of today and
00:18behind it we've got low pressure in charge as well as a series of weather fronts that will bring
00:23more rain but this time in the form of showers. So not quite as reliable as the rain from overnight
00:28across more southern areas but still some heavy bursts are likely throughout this afternoon. In
00:33fact there is actually a thunderstorm warning for parts of Northern Ireland and eastern Scotland
00:38where we could see some quite frequent lightning, hail and quite a lot of rain in a short period of
00:42time so there's a risk of surface water flooding. Elsewhere across much of England and Wales it will
00:47turn much brighter through this afternoon so more in the way of sunshine that you will have woken up
00:52to and temperatures climbing once again to the mid-20s in the south and east, the low 20s elsewhere
00:57across the south. Across the north though with the northerly wind and more frequent rain it's going
01:02to feel much cooler than it has done lately so quite a cool feel to end the day across more
01:07northern
01:07areas and it will turn cooler through the rest of the country into the rest of the week as this
01:13rain
01:13pushes further south into northern England as well as northern parts of Wales where we could see some
01:19further thunderstorms, a risk of hail as well as lightning and up to around 20 to 30 millimetres of rain
01:25falling in just an hour. So although that is wanted rain as it falls in a short space of time
01:30we could
01:31still see some surface water flooding issues. A risk of showers perhaps across more southern areas
01:37into this evening and overnight across parts of England and Wales further south but many areas will
01:43remain dry overnight across more southern areas and it is going to be quite a mild night across more
01:48the south. Further north though it's still quite cool with this northerly wind. So another showery day is
01:54on the cards for Thursday across the UK. Showers most persistent in the morning across more parts
01:59of north Wales and northern England. That's where we're close to this area of low pressure, the centre
02:04of the area of low pressure that will push further south through the day. So showers will likely push
02:08further south into more central areas of England, the south by the end of Thursday. Further north for
02:14Northern Ireland and Scotland it's going to be a much drier day tomorrow compared to today. Still a few showers
02:19around but more in the way of sunny spells between any of those showers. Quite brisk northerly wind
02:25across the east coast of Scotland in particular. Elsewhere though with that northerly wind temperatures
02:30below average in the mid to high teens at best across the north and it will be a cooler day
02:35across the
02:36south as well which will make for a cooler night. Thursday night into Friday morning temperatures will
02:42be falling much lower than they have done lately. So an easier night for sleeping for many of us. A
02:47few showers
02:48still continuing but the theme is generally for it to turn a little bit drier again as we head
02:53towards the end of the week and into the weekend. How long will that last? Well Aidan has all the
02:57details for that on our latest 10 day trend which you can find later today on YouTube. Bye bye.
