00:00Good afternoon. A chance of some torrential downpours for central areas. Not everywhere is going to see this intense rainfall,
00:07but we have seen some showers already through today. Overnight, there was some quite heavy rain across northeastern areas of
00:12England. That's pushed off into the North Sea. Now showers are starting to spread in across more south and western
00:18areas. We've already had some lightning strikes across parts of South Wales and there's a further risk of thunderstorms throughout
00:24today. We do have a warning in force across much of Wales as well as some central areas of
00:29England into this afternoon. Further north and west is going to be a dry afternoon, particularly for parts of Northern
00:35Ireland and the Western Isles of Scotland. Northerly wind, though, will bring a fresher feel here. So particularly across north
00:43-facing coasts, it will feel quite fresh, but more southern areas of Northern Ireland should be in for a fine
00:48day. Now some of these heavy showers will push into southeastern areas of England into this afternoon and through the
00:53early evening. Again, not everywhere is going to see them, but where we do see them, we could see around
00:5820mm of rain falling.
00:59In just an hour, if you get a few showers in a row, we could see up to 40mm of
01:04rain, which could cause some surface water flooding. We've also got a risk of some quite large hail as well
01:09as lightning. That warning's valid all the way through until this evening before it turns drier and calmer for a
01:16time. That's because we're between two areas of low pressure throughout much of tonight, so dry and clear for much
01:22of eastern and northern areas of the UK.
01:24It will turn much wetter and windier across the southwest, though, through the early hours of Saturday.
01:30But when we see clearer skies across more north and eastern areas, it's going to be a slightly cooler night
01:35tonight.
01:35So if you've been feeling the humidity and heat overnight through the past few nights, it should feel a little
01:41bit better tonight.
01:42But temperatures will gradually fall away as we head throughout the bank holiday weekend.
01:47And that's because there's more rain on the way and some stronger winds as well.
01:52Now, this area of low pressure that pushes up from the south and west brings a spell of intense rain
01:57across parts of England and Wales through Saturday morning.
01:59That will move into more northern areas by the afternoon, into parts of Northern Ireland and southern areas of Scotland.
02:06But we will likely stay dry across the very far Scotland and the very far north of Northern Ireland through
02:12much of the day.
02:13So again, the driest and brightest weather across the north and west on Saturday.
02:18Once the main band of rain clears, the southwest could see some quite strong winds across the south coast, particularly
02:23worth noting if you're going to any outdoor activities, outdoor events or if you're camping this weekend.
02:29The winds are going to be a lot stronger than you will have experienced through much of the summer.
02:33And we've got a chance of some further heavy, intense, thundery downpours.
02:38Widely, it's going to be a cooler day across England and Wales than today into Saturday.
02:43Across the north, though, still feeling relatively warm in the sunshine with temperatures in the high teens, low 20s in
02:48some areas of sheltered Scotland.
02:51The winds remain quite strong across the south coast, pushing into the southeast through Saturday evening.
02:56Still dry across the north and west.
02:58And there will be some areas of rain across more northern areas of Wales, northern England.
03:03That's where it's most likely there is some uncertainty in this rain in particular, just because the track of this
03:07area of low pressure is still a bit uncertain.
03:10But I think most of us can expect at least some rain in England and Wales, parts of southern Scotland,
03:15through Saturday evening.
03:17Then that area of low pressure moves out of the way.
03:18And then the next one arrives for Sunday, again, bringing some windy weather through the bank holiday Monday as well,
03:25and further potentially thundery downpours.
03:28So quite a lot to keep our eyes on.

03:34See you again soon. Bye bye.
