00:17When a wicked person turns from the wickedness he has committed, and does what is just and right, he will
00:26preserve his life.
00:30For I am aware of my rebellious acts, I am forever conscious of my sin.
00:39Hide your face from my sins, wipe away all my guilt.
00:47The sacrifices God desires are a humble spirit, O God, a humble and repentant heart you will not reject.
01:01Dearly beloved brothers and sisters, the scripture moves us in sundry places to acknowledge and confess our many sins and
01:10wickedness.
01:12We should not justify nor hide them before the face of Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, but confess them with
01:20a humble, lowly, penitent and obedient heart.
01:24To the end that we may obtain forgiveness of the same, by his infinite goodness and mercy.
01:35Although we ought always to humbly acknowledge our sins before God, we should do this particularly when we assemble and
01:43meet together,
01:44to give thanks for the great benefits we have received at his hands.
01:48To give him most worthy praise, to hear his most holy word, and to ask those things which are truly
01:57necessary as well for the body as the soul.
02:02Therefore I pray and ask you, who are present here today, to accompany me with a pure heart and humble
02:09voice to the throne of the heavenly grace, as we say together.
02:16Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep.
02:23We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts.
02:29We have offended against your holy laws.
02:32We have failed to do those things which we ought to have done, and we have done things which we
02:39ought not to have done.
02:44But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable sinners.
02:49Spare those, O God, who confess their faults.
02:53Restore those who are truly penitent, according to your promises declared to mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord.
03:03Grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to
03:12the glory of your holy name. Amen.
03:18Grant, we beseech you, merciful Lord, to your faithful people, pardon and peace, that they may be cleansed from all
03:26their sins, and serve you with a quiet mind.
03:30Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
03:38Our Father, who is in heaven, hallowed be your name.
03:43Your kingdom come, your will be done, in earth as it is in heaven.
03:49Give us this day our daily bread.
03:52Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
03:59Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
04:05For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
04:15O Lord, open our lips, and our mouths shall sing out your praise.
04:23O God, make speed to save us.
04:27O Lord, make haste to help us.
04:33Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
04:39As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
04:45Amen.
04:48Praise the Lord.
04:51The Lord's name be praised.
04:58Psalm 119
05:01I cried out with all my heart,
05:04Answer me, O Lord, I will observe your statutes.
05:09I cried out to you,
05:11Deliver me, so that I can keep your rules.
05:15I am up before dawn, crying for help.
05:18I find hope in your word.
05:21My eyes anticipate the night-time hours,
05:24So that I can meditate on your word.
05:28Listen to me because of your loyal love.
05:31O Lord, revive me as you typically do.
05:36Those who are eager to do wrong, draw near.
05:39They are far from your law.
05:42You are near, O Lord, and all your commands are reliable.
05:49I learned long ago that you ordained your rules to last.
05:54See my pain and rescue me, for I do not forget your law.
05:59Fight for me and defend me, revive me with your word.
06:05The wicked have no chance for deliverance,
06:08For they do not seek your statutes.
06:12Your compassion is great, O Lord,
06:15Or revive me as you typically do.
06:19The enemies who chase me are numerous,
06:23Yet I do not turn aside from your rules.
06:26I take note of the treacherous and despise them,
06:29Because they do not keep your instructions.
06:32See how I love your precepts.
06:35O Lord, revive me with your loyal love.
06:39Your instructions are totally reliable.
06:43All your just regulations endure.
06:47Rulers, pursue me for no reason.
06:50Yet I am more afraid of disobeying your instructions.
06:54I rejoice in your instructions,
06:58Like one who finds much plunder.
07:01I hate and despise deceit.
07:04I love your law.
07:06Seven times a day I praise you
07:09Because of your just regulations.
07:13Those who love your law are completely secure.
07:16Nothing causes them to stumble.
07:20I hope for your deliverance, O Lord,
07:23And I obey your commands.
07:26I keep your rules.
07:28I love them greatly.
07:31I keep your precepts and rules,
07:33For you are aware of everything I do.
07:38Listen to my cry for help, O Lord,
07:42Give me insight by your word.
07:45Listen to my appeal for mercy.
07:48Deliver me as you promised.
07:52May praise flow freely from my lips,
07:55For you teach me your statutes.
07:58May my tongue sing about your instructions,
08:01For all your commands are just.
08:04May your hand help me,
08:06For I choose to obey your precepts.
08:10May I live and praise you,
08:12May your regulations help me.
08:15I have wandered off like a lost sheep.
08:18Come looking for your servant,
08:20For I do not forget your commands.
08:24Glory be to the Father,
08:26And to the Son,
08:27And to the Holy Spirit,
08:29As it was in the beginning,
08:30Is now, and ever shall be.
08:32World without end.
08:35Amen.
08:43The book of Proverbs chapter 16
08:48The intentions of the heart belong to a man,
08:52But the answer of the tongue comes from the Lord.
08:56All a person's ways seem right in his own opinion,
09:00But the Lord evaluates the motives.
09:04Commit your works to the Lord,
09:06And your plans will be established.
09:09The Lord works everything for its own ends,
09:13Even the wicked for the day of disaster.
09:17The Lord abhors every arrogant person,
09:21Rest assured that they will not go unpunished.
09:26Through loyal love and truth,
09:28Iniquity is appeased.
09:30Through fearing the Lord,
09:32One avoids evil.
09:35When a person's ways are pleasing to the Lord,
09:38He even reconciles his enemies to himself.
09:43Better to have a little with righteousness,
09:47Better to have abundant income without justice.
09:52A person plans his course,
09:55But the Lord directs his steps.
09:59The divine verdict is in the words of the king,
10:02His pronouncements must not act treacherously against justice.
10:09Honest scales and balances are from the Lord,
10:12All the weights in the bag are his handiwork.
10:17Doing wickedness is an abomination to kings,
10:20Because the throne is established in righteousness.
10:24The delight of kings is righteous counsel,
10:27And they love the one who speaks uprightly.
10:32A king's wrath is like a messenger of death,
10:36But a wise person appeases it.
10:40In the light of a king's face there is life,
10:43And his favour is like the clouds of the spring rain.
10:47How much better it is to acquire wisdom than gold,
10:51To acquire understanding is more desirable than silver.
10:57The highway of the upright is to turn away from evil,
11:02The one who guards his way safeguards his life.
11:07Pride goes before destruction,
11:10And a haughty spirit before a fall.
11:13It is better to be lowly in spirit with the afflicted,
11:17Than to share the spoils with the proud.
11:21The one who deals wisely in a matter will find success,
11:26And blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord.
11:30The one who is wise in heart is called discerning,
11:34And kind speech increases persuasiveness.
11:40Insight is like a life-giving fountain to the one who possesses it,
11:45But folly leads to the discipline of fools.
11:50A wise person's heart makes his speech wise,
11:54And it adds persuasiveness to his words.
11:58Pleasant words are like a honeycomb,
12:01Sweet to the soul,
12:03And healing to the bones.
12:06There is a way that seems right to a person,
12:09But its end is the way that leads to death.
12:13A labourer's appetite works on his behalf,
12:17For his hunger urges him to work.
12:21A wicked scoundrel digs up evil,
12:25And his slander is like a scorching fire.
12:29A perverse person spreads his dissension,
12:32And a gossip separates the closest friends.
12:36A violent person entices his neighbour,
12:40And leads him down a path that is terrible.
12:45The one who winks his eyes devises perverse things,
12:49And one who compresses his lips brings about evil.
12:54Grey hair is like a crown of glory,
12:57It is attained in the path of righteousness.
13:02Better to be slow to anger than to be a mighty warrior,
13:06And one who controls his temper is better than one who captures a city.
13:13The dice are thrown into the lap,
13:16But their every decision is from the Lord.
13:21This is the word of the Lord.
13:24Thanks be to God.
13:35Mary said,
13:37My soul exalts the Lord,
13:39And my spirit has begun to rejoice in God my Saviour,
13:44Because he has looked upon the humble state of his servant.
13:49For from now on all generations will call me blessed,
13:53Because he who is mighty has done great things for me,
13:58And holy is his name.
14:00From generation to generation he is merciful to those who fear him.
14:07He has demonstrated power with his arm.
14:10He has scattered those whose pride wells up from the sheer arrogance of their hearts.
14:16He has brought down the mighty from their thrones,
14:19And has lifted up those of lowly position.
14:23He has filled the hungry with good things,
14:26And has sent the rich away empty.
14:29He has helped his servant Israel,
14:32Remembering his mercy,
14:34As he promised to our ancestors,
14:37To Abraham and to his descendants for ever.
14:42Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
14:46As it was in the beginning,
14:49Is now and ever shall be,
14:52World without end.
14:54Amen.
15:00The Gospel according to St. Matthew,
15:03Chapter 13
15:06Jesus presented them with another parable.
15:10The kingdom of heaven is like a person
15:12Who sowed good seed in his field.
15:15But while everyone was sleeping,
15:17An enemy came and sowed weeds amongst the wheat,
15:21And went away.
15:22So when the plants sprouted and bore grain,
15:26Then also the weeds appeared.
15:30So the slaves of the owner came and said to him,
15:33Sir, didn't you sow good seed in your field?
15:37Where did all these weeds come from?
15:39He said,
15:41An enemy has done this.
15:43So the slaves replied,
15:45Do you want us to go and gather them?
15:47But he said,
15:49No,
15:49Since in gathering the weeds,
15:51You may uproot the wheat with them.
15:54Let us grow both together until the harvest,
15:57And at harvest time,
15:59I will tell the reapers,
16:00First collect the weeds
16:02And tie them in bundles to be burnt.
16:04But then gather the wheat into my barn.
16:08He gave them another parable.
16:10The kingdom of heaven
16:11Is like a mustard seed
16:13That a man took and sowed in his field.
16:16It is the smallest of all the seeds,
16:18But when it has grown,
16:20It is the greatest garden plant,
16:21And becomes a tree,
16:23So that the wild birds come
16:25And nest in its branches.
16:28He told them another parable.
16:31The kingdom of heaven
16:32Is like yeast
16:33That a woman took
16:34And mixed with three measures of flour
16:36Until all the dough had risen.
16:40Jesus spoke all these things
16:42In parables to the crowds.
16:44He did not speak to them
16:45Without a parable.
16:48This fulfilled what was spoken by the prophet.
16:51I will open my mouth in parables.
16:53I will announce what has been hidden
16:56From the foundation of the world.
17:00Then he left the crowds
17:02And went into the house.
17:03His disciples came to him
17:05Asking
17:07Explain to us
17:08The parable of the weeds in the field.
17:12He answered
17:13The one who sowed the good seed
17:14Is the son of man.
17:16The field is the world
17:18And the good seed
17:19Are the people of the kingdom.
17:22The weeds are the people
17:23Of the evil one
17:24And the enemy who sows them
17:26Is the devil.
17:28The harvest is at the end of the age
17:30And the reapers are the angels.
17:33As the weeds are collected
17:35And burnt with fire
17:36So it will be at the end of the age.
17:39The son of man will send his angels
17:41And they will gather from his kingdom
17:43Everything that causes sin
17:45As well as all the lawbreakers.
17:48They will throw them
17:49Into the fiery furnace
17:51Where there will be weeping
17:52And gnashing of teeth.
17:54Then will the righteous shine
17:56Like the sun
17:57In the kingdom of their father.
17:59He who has ears
18:01Had better listen.
18:04The kingdom of heaven
18:05Is like a treasure
18:06Hidden in a field
18:07That a person finds hidden.
18:10Then because of joy
18:12He went and sold all that he had
18:14And bought that field.
18:17Again the kingdom of heaven
18:18Is like a merchant
18:19Searching for fine pearls.
18:21When he found a pearl
18:23Of great value
18:24He went out
18:25And sold everything he had.
18:26So that he might buy it.
18:31Again the kingdom of heaven
18:32Is like a net
18:34That was cast into the sea
18:36Catching all kinds of fish.
18:38When it was full
18:40They pulled it ashore.
18:41Sat down and put the good fish
18:43Into containers
18:44And threw the bad away.
18:47It will be this way
18:48At the end of the age.
18:50Angels will come
18:51And separate the evil
18:53From the righteous
18:54And throw them
18:56Into the fiery furnace
18:57Where there will be weeping
18:58And gnashing of teeth.
19:02Have you understood
19:03All these things?
19:05They replied
19:06Yes.
19:08Then he said to them
19:10Therefore every expert
19:11In the law
19:12Who has been trained
19:13For the kingdom of heaven
19:15Is like the owner
19:16Of a house
19:17Who brings out his treasure
19:19Of what is new
19:20And old.
19:23This is the word of the Lord
19:26Thanks be to God
19:38Now according to your word
19:40Sovereign Lord
19:41Permit your servant
19:43To depart in peace
19:44For my eyes
19:46Have seen your salvation
19:48That you have prepared
19:49In the presence
19:50Of all peoples
19:51A light for revelation
19:54To the Gentiles
19:55And for glory
19:57To your people Israel
20:01Glory be to the Father
20:02And to the Son
20:03And to the Holy Spirit
20:04As it was in the beginning
20:07Is now and ever shall be
20:09World without end
20:11Amen
20:16I believe in God
20:18The Father Almighty
20:20Maker of heaven and earth
20:21And in Jesus Christ
20:23His only Son
20:24Our Lord
20:26Who was conceived
20:27By the Holy Spirit
20:28Born of the Virgin Mary
20:30Suffered
20:31Unto Pontius Pilate
20:34Was crucified
20:35Dead
20:36And buried
20:37He descended
20:38Into hell
20:39On the third day
20:41He rose again
20:42From the dead
20:43He ascended
20:45Into heaven
20:45And is sitting
20:47At the right hand
20:48Of God
20:48The Father Almighty
20:50From there
20:51He shall come
20:52Come to judge
20:52The living
20:53And the dead
20:55I believe in the Holy Spirit
20:57The Holy Catholic Church
20:59The communion of saints
21:00The forgiveness of sins
21:03The resurrection of the body
21:05And the life everlasting
21:08Amen
21:13The Lord be with you
21:16And with your spirit
21:20Let us pray
21:24Lord have mercy upon us
21:26Lord have mercy upon us
21:28Christ have mercy upon us
21:32Lord have mercy upon us
21:38Our Father
21:39Who is in heaven
21:41Holy is your name
21:44May your kingdom come
21:46May your will be done
21:48On earth
21:49As it is in heaven
21:51Give us this day
21:53Our daily bread
21:54Forgive us
21:55Our trespasses
21:56As we forgive those
21:58Who trespass against us
22:01Lead us not
22:02Into temptation
22:03But deliver us
22:04From evil
22:05For yours
22:07Is the kingdom
22:08The power
22:09And the glory
22:10Forever
22:12And ever
22:13Amen
22:18O Lord
22:19Show your mercy upon us
22:21And grant us
22:23Your salvation
22:27Protect and guide
22:29Those in authority
22:30Over us
22:32And mercifully hear us
22:34When we call upon you
22:38Endue your ministers
22:39With righteousness
22:41And make your chosen
22:43People joyful
22:46O Lord
22:47Save your people
22:50And bless your inheritance
22:54Give peace in our time
22:56O Lord
22:58Because there is none other
23:00Who fights for us
23:01But only you
23:02O God
23:05O God
23:06Make clean our hearts
23:07Within us
23:09And take not
23:11Your Holy Spirit
23:12From us
23:20Let us pray
23:23O God
23:24Whose never-failing providence
23:26Orders all things
23:27Both in heaven
23:28And on earth
23:29We humbly beseech you
23:31To put away from us
23:33All hurtful things
23:34And to give us
23:35Those things
23:36Which are profitable
23:37For us
23:38Through Jesus Christ
23:40Our Lord
23:41Amen
24:11O God
24:12Let us pray
24:13From the fear of our enemies
24:14May pass our time
24:16In rest and quietness
24:18Through the merits
24:19Of Jesus Christ
24:21Our Saviour
24:22Amen
24:27Lighten our darkness
24:29We beseech you
24:30O Lord
24:30And by your great mercy
24:32Defend us all
24:34From perils and dangers
24:36Of this night
24:38For the love of your only Son
24:40Our Saviour
24:40Jesus Christ
24:42Amen
25:11Almighty God
25:13We bring us in this world
25:14For us in this world
25:15Knowledge of your truth
25:16And in the world to come
25:18Life everlasting
25:20Amen
25:24With the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ
25:26And the love of God
25:27And the fellowship of the Holy Spirit
25:30Be with us all
25:32Evermore
25:33Amen
25:34Amen
25:34Amen
25:34Amen
