00:00How are you guys doing? Welcome back to the Morning Roaster Podcast. This is your host Caleb Thompson.
00:05You might have to excuse me. It's a little noisy down here, so right here at the subway.
00:09But what I did want to do is I did want to continue and give you guys this episode.
00:15So we're going to go ahead and we're going to move forward.
00:18Today's episode was the Morning Roaster Podcast. Let me give you the proper introduction.
00:22This is the Morning Roaster Podcast. This is the place to make your mornings matter the most.
00:27We are coming live from New York City as we always do.
00:30And I'd just like to thank you guys for tuning in. I'd like to start these episodes off with gratitude.
00:35And there was a little bit of popping in my voice. It's because I do not have my regular microphone.
00:40But I did want to give you guys this information.
00:42This is something that I had to learn on my entrepreneur's journey.
00:47On my journey as an entrepreneur.
00:50And this episode is going to be called Stillness is Strength.
00:54Stillness is Strength.
00:55And the reason why I say stillness is strength is just for the simple fact that people think stillness is
00:59weakness.
01:00You know, a lot of times we get so caught up in going, going, going, going as an entrepreneur.
01:05And as an entrepreneur, you need to think on the fly.
01:08You know, as a regular person.
01:10Let's dumb this down to our own personal lives.
01:13Not as an entrepreneur.
01:14But just as a person living your daily life.
01:17Some people feel like, especially in New York City, it's a hustle and bustle culture.
01:20Everyone's out to win.
01:23It's just a city full of winners and wannabe winners.
01:27And people who are striving to win.
01:30So, you know, people think that stillness is weakness.
01:34So, I want you to know that stillness is not weakness.
01:37So, one thing I've learned is that being still doesn't mean I'm doing nothing.
01:41It means I'm giving myself space to think, reflect, and reset.
01:45So, in a world that constantly tells us to move faster, as we just talked about, stillness gives me opportunity
01:51to slow down and regain perspective.
01:53Now, and I'm not saying slow down in the midst of doing something that's important.
01:58Do not start on a journey.
02:00Start to develop certain things.
02:02Be creative.
02:03And then in the midst of it, you just put everything at a halt.
02:07I'm not saying that there needs to be a set time or a set schedule or, and sometimes people say,
02:13there's a method to my madness.
02:15You might have a method to your madness that while in the middle of something, you may be able to
02:20do multiple things at once, multitask.
02:22You may be able to move forward while still being in a place of stillness in another area of your
02:27life.
02:27I do it all the time.
02:28I could be, it's just like someone who is at work, but they're praying at the same time.
02:34They're at work, but they're meditating.
02:36People say you won't get the full, you know, the full potency of what you're trying to listen to or
02:42what clarity you're trying to get while you're at work and you're trying to meditate.
02:46But the truth is that there are people that can operate in both lanes and both facets at the same
02:54time while still being productive and still having a part of themselves in a place of stillness, reflecting on their
03:01next move, reflecting on.
03:02Now, if you haven't made it to that point, then you will get there, but practice it.
03:07The one way that you get better at doing something is by practicing it.
03:10So practice something.
03:11So when your kids are running around the house acting crazy, practice stillness, practice patience, practice, practice not tuning it
03:19out, but allowing it to happen.
03:20And practice operating in the chaos by still being in the place of stillness within.
03:27And that will help you to learn how to deal with, you know, high stakes situations, situations of pressure when
03:33you're under pressure and still being able to think from a clear standpoint.
03:37So I don't have to constantly prove my productivity to be making progress.
03:42You do not have to prove that you're being productive or prove your productivity to make progress.
03:48Sometimes progress is by standing still.
03:52You know, a lot of times standing still is just to get enough, just to get enough understanding.
03:55Like I said, you can still move forward, learn as you go while still thinking as you go.
04:00But if you haven't made it to that point, you know, you can take time to be still.
04:05And it doesn't have to be.
04:06Like I always like to say this, you do not need to bring everything to a complete halt because pressure
04:11is on to say, I want to be in a place of stillness.
04:13No, it's game time.
04:14So I'm not saying it like that.
04:16But what I am saying is that you need to come up with a method or a time you need
04:20to set apart where every day you can sit down, you can be still.
04:23If it's early in the morning, if it's late at night, if it's in between, a little time in between
04:29the day, maybe on your lunch break, instead of going out to lunch, you go to your car.
04:33You know, you go to the car and gather your thoughts and think about your next couple moves.
04:37So whatever you need to do, do that.
04:42So that's the first talk point.
04:43I learned that stillness is not weakness.
04:45I'm going to give you three talk points.
04:46Number two is I use stillness to respond instead of react.
04:50So a lot of times, man, when you're so impulsive in your decisions, you're impulsive when it comes to, you
04:59know, making just making decisions or rash decisions.
05:03Now, there will be some times where decisions need to be made and you just have to go with it
05:07and you just have to be held, hold yourself accountable.
05:09You have to not regret.
05:10You got to say, man, I've made that decision.
05:12It was rash, but it needed to be made at that moment.
05:15Some decisions cannot wait and you just have to take a chance and you got to roll with the punches.
05:20And you got to correct as you go.
05:21But you cannot regret making that decision.
05:23So I'm not saying that.
05:25So what I am saying is I realize that when I immediately react to pressure, I don't always make the
05:31best decisions.
05:32You won't either.
05:33Believe me.
05:33Stillness gives me time to process my emotions before allowing them to control my actions, man.
05:39I'm telling you one, man, there are people out there that are strategically.
05:42I'm going to say this is in business.
05:44This is families do this.
05:46Siblings do this.
05:48There are people that will intentionally put pressure on you to make a mistake with a simple fact so they
05:52can point the finger.
05:53There's somebody out there that talked about you, said you were competent, saying that you were insane or mentally ill.
06:01And you're operating at a higher level that they cannot understand.
06:03So it makes you look crazy when you're chasing goals and dreams that they couldn't attain or that they didn't
06:08believe in their self.
06:10So, of course, they're going to call you crazy.
06:11Of course, they're going to say something's wrong with you.
06:13Of course, they're going to say you're delusional.
06:14And because they don't operate from that frequency, they don't have that same caliber of hope and believe and trust
06:20in themselves as you do.
06:22So there's going to always be a difference between how people see you.
06:26People are not going to see you as you see yourself.
06:29People are not going to accomplish, want to, you cannot make people believe in what you're trying to accomplish because
06:35the dream is not theirs.
06:37So, you know what I mean?
06:38So that's always going to happen.
06:39But a pause can create the difference between an impulsive response and an intentional decision.
06:44When I become comfortable with silence, I become more comfortable with myself.
06:49So, yeah, get to yourself.
06:51Number three, I discover strength by becoming comfortable with myself.
06:55So, and that's all boils down to authenticity.
06:59Man, you know why you need to be still?
07:01Some people cannot, let me, and this is the truth.
07:04Some people cannot be alone.
07:06They have to be around people.
07:07They always have to have noise.
07:09If they are, some people do not want to be alone with themselves.
07:12They do, they have to be in a group of friends.
07:15They always, they can't sit at home and watch a movie by themselves.
07:18They eat by themselves.
07:19They're always on the phone.
07:20And sometimes they have nothing to talk about.
07:22So they talk about other people just to not be able to sit in silence.
07:26And I've seen this multiple times.
07:29So this is something that's crazy.
07:31But it does happen.
07:33And you don't want to become one of those people.
07:34So I learned that I don't always have to need outside noise, validation, or constant activity to feel valuable.
07:41So stillness allows me to listen to my own thoughts and reconnect with what truly matters.
07:46Because with the world, you are going to move through life.
07:49And there's going to be people pulling on you this way, that way.
07:51There's going to be people talking about you.
07:53Some people talk about you for the simple fact.
07:55Because we know manifestation is real.
07:57But we know manifestation in the wrong way is black magic.
08:00You know what I mean?
08:00Trying to corrupt someone's identity through lies, gossip.
08:04Trying to corrupt someone's way of living through the simple fact of repeatedly stating a lie or speaking a lie
08:12to make sure that you corrupt that person's name.
08:15Or try to turn them into someone they're not.
08:17But you know, there's a lot of people out there that talked about individuals.
08:21But they got proof wrong.
08:23So instead of those individuals saying, you know what, I was wrong about this person.
08:26They will double down.
08:28They will gang other people up.
08:29They will play the victim when they started things.
08:32And they will double down on trying to make you become who they think you should be instead of who
08:37you truly are, who you're proving yourself to be.
08:39So you do need to be in stillness and get your thoughts together and continue to gain that strength and
08:45move forward.
08:46So when I know who I am and what I stand for, I don't have to be shaken by every
08:50situation around me.
08:51That's what we were talking about, authenticity.
08:54It's needed for you to get to know yourself.
08:57Know thyself.
08:58So the one thing that's going to keep you grounded is by knowing yourself.
09:10But true strength isn't always loud.
09:13It can be looked at as patience, peace, discipline, and knowing when to wait.
09:17So I know a lot of individuals, man, especially with me growing up with certain individuals, they think, man, being
09:21loud, being boisterous, you know, walking around like the tough guy, man, that makes them have strength.
09:26It really doesn't because, you know, any king, a person that claims that they're a king and they have no,
09:30if you lack, let's say, emotional intelligence in a situation, man, where there's a lot of pressure, you will make
09:38a mistake that will ultimately fall on the lives of others.
09:42It will ultimately wreck and have an effect on other people besides yourself.
09:47So there's a lot of times where people in government or military commanders and military lieutenants have made decisions and
09:54it risks people's lives just based off of impulse.
09:58So, you know, you.
10:17So, you know, you're going to have a lot of times where you're going to have a lot of times
10:19where you're going to have a lot of times where you're going to have a lot of times where you're
10:19going to have a lot of times where you're going to have a lot of times where you're going to
10:19have a lot of times where you're going to have a lot of times where you're going to have a
10:19lot of times where you're going to have a lot of times where you're going to have a lot of
10:19times where you're going to have a lot of times where you're going to have a lot of times where
10:19you're going to have a lot of times where you're going to have a lot of times where you're going
10:19to have a lot of times where you're going to have a lot of times where you're going to have
10:20a lot of times where you're going to have a lot of times where you're going to have a lot
