00:23Let us pray.
00:24Let us pray.
00:54Let us pray.
01:24Let us pray.
01:42Let us pray.
01:42Let us pray.
01:52Let us pray.
01:54May my heart find no relish except in and through you.
01:59May you alone possess my innermost soul.
02:03May I exceedingly hunger for you, the bread of heaven, and thirst for you, the fountain of life.
02:09So that this life's exile ended, I may deserve to be satisfied with the joys of your eternal perfection.
02:19Praise, honor and glory be to you, O Christ, who, up until this time, has preserved and delivered me from
02:26countless dangers of soul and body, even when I abused your gifts, not deserting me.
02:35Illuminate my heart, I beseech you, with the brightness of your grace, the truly perceiving your goodness to me and
02:44my own ingratitude toward you.
02:47I may be moaned, I may be moaned myself, I may be hateful in my own sight, but I may
02:54please you, my creator and my only redeemer in all things.
03:01Praise, honor and glory be to you, O Christ, who, when I lie immersed in the most loathsome vices, and
03:09was leading a most ungodly life,
03:11in your long suffering, in your long suffering, or with me for such a long time, and brought me to
03:16repentance.
03:18Grant that my acceptable contrition and holy works, I may expiate the stains of my past sin, and that from
03:27now on I may lead a life of purity,
03:30and love you above all things, with most burning love.
03:36Praise, honor and glory be to you, O Christ, who, when I was on the brink of the very precipice,
03:42and just within the jaws of hell,
03:45did not permit me to perish, but called me, though deaf, and trying to run from you to the way
03:51of salvation.
03:54Grant that from now on I may follow after you with humble devotion,
03:58and with a joyful heart correspond to your holy inspirations,
04:04with, from my heart, farewell to all things, and may cleave inseparably to you alone.
04:14Praise, honor and glory be to you, O Christ, who always directed me, the vilest of sinners,
04:21has protected me, has looked upon me with the eyes of mercy,
04:25and still so fondly supports and cherishes me with your goodness.
04:30Despite my daily transgressions, as if forgetful of all others,
04:36you cared for me alone.
04:39Grant that I also may love you most ardently,
04:43leaving all transitory things for your sake,
04:46and may think of you alone,
04:48and may with a ready mind and in all places,
04:51follow and perform your holy will.
04:55Amen.
04:59O Lord, open our lips,
05:02and our mouths shall sing your praise.
05:11O be joyful in the Lord,
05:16holy land,
05:18serve the Lord with gladness,
05:22and come before His presence with a song.
05:28He is sure that the Lord needs God.
05:34He is God.
05:35He is He that has made us and lost me ourselves.
05:40We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.
05:47O Lord, who put your way into His place with a tree,
05:53and in truth in His cross with praise,
05:59be thankful unto Him, and be full of His name.
06:06For the Lord is gracious,
06:11His mercy is everlasting,
06:17and His truth and joy from generation to generation.
06:29glory be to the Father,
06:34and to the Father,
06:37and to the Holy Ghost,
06:41as it was in the beginning,
06:45is now and ever shall be,
06:50world without end.
06:58Amen.
07:08Amen.
07:12Amen.
07:15Amen.

12:11in heaven or from men?
12:16But they reasoned amongst themselves saying
12:18if we say from heaven
12:20he will say to us then
12:22why didn't you have faith in him?
12:25But if we say from men
12:27we are in fear of the people
12:29because all take John to be a prophet.
12:34So they made answer and said
12:35we have no idea.
12:38Then he said to them
12:39then I will not say to you
12:41by what authority I do these things.
12:44But how does it seem to you?
12:47A man had two sons
12:48but he came to the first and said
12:50son, go and work today in the vine garden.
12:55He said in answer
12:56I will not.
12:58But later changing his decision
13:00he went.
13:03He came to the second
13:04and said the same
13:06and he made answer and said
13:07I go.
13:09and went not.
13:11Which of the two
13:12did his father's pleasure?
13:14They say the first.
13:18Jesus said to them
13:19truly I say to you
13:20that tax farmers
13:21and loose women
13:22are going into the kingdom
13:23of God before you.
13:25For John came to you
13:26in the way of righteousness
13:27and you had no faith in him.
13:30For the tax farmers
13:31and the loose women
13:32had faith in him.
13:34And you when you saw it
13:35did not even have regret
13:37for your sins
13:38so as to have faith in him.
13:42Listen to another story.
13:44A master of a house
13:46made a vine garden
13:46put a wall around it
13:48and made a place
13:49for crushing the wine
13:50and made a tower
13:51and let it out
13:52to field workers
13:53and went to live
13:54in another country.
13:57When the time for the fruit
13:58came near
13:59he sent his servants
14:00to the workmen
14:01to get the fruit.
14:03The workmen
14:04made an attack
14:05on his servants
14:06giving blow to ones
14:07putting another to death
14:09and stoning another.
14:11Again he sent
14:12other servants
14:14more in number
14:15than the first
14:16and they did the same
14:17to them.
14:19But after that
14:20he sent his own son
14:21to them
14:21saying
14:22they will have respect
14:24for my son.
14:26But when the workmen
14:27saw the son
14:28they said to themselves
14:30this is he
14:31who will one day
14:32be the owner
14:32of the property
14:34come let us
14:34put him to death
14:35and take the heritage.
14:37And so they took him
14:38and driving him
14:40out of the vine garden
14:41put him to death.
14:45When then
14:45the lord of the vine garden
14:46returns
14:47what will he do
14:48to those workmen?
14:51They said to him
14:53he will put those cruel men
14:54to a cruel death
14:55and will let out
14:57the vine garden
14:57to other workmen
14:58who will give him
15:00the fruit
15:00when it is ready.
15:05Jesus said to them
15:06did you never read
15:07in the writings
15:08the stone
15:09which the builders
15:09put on one side
15:11the same has been made
15:12the chief stone
15:13of the building.
15:15This was the lord's doing
15:16and it is a wonder
15:17in our eyes.
15:20For this reason
15:21I say to you
15:22the kingdom of God
15:22will be taken away
15:23from you
15:24and will be given
15:25to a nation
15:26producing the fruits
15:27of it.
15:29Any man falling
15:30on this stone
15:31will be broken
15:32but he on whom
15:34it comes down upon
15:35will be crushed
15:36to death.
15:40When his stories
15:41came to the ears
15:42of the chief priests
15:42and the Pharisees
15:45they understood
15:45that he was talking
15:46about them
15:48and though they had
15:49a desire to take him
15:50they were in fear
15:51of the people
15:52because in their eyes
15:53he was a prophet.
15:56This is the word
15:57of the lord.
15:59Thanks be to god.
16:05Jesus was no stranger
16:06to controversy
16:07from the first debates
16:09over the law
16:10in the temple
16:10of age of twelve
16:12through the course
16:13of his ministry
16:14to this point
16:15recorded here
16:16by Matthew
16:16shortly before his death.
16:19It is something
16:20to which we should
16:21become accustomed
16:22ourselves
16:22as his followers
16:25because there will
16:26always be a queue
16:26of those anxious
16:27to frustrate
16:28our message
16:29attempting to score
16:30points
16:31or generally
16:32embarrass us.
16:36Indeed
16:36Jesus simply
16:37could not keep
16:38away from the temple
16:39even though
16:40it was full
16:40of danger for him.
16:43The previous day
16:44he had perched
16:45the temple
16:45of all cheating
16:46traders
16:46who had preyed
16:48upon the faithful
16:48who came
16:49to offer sacrifices
16:51and to pray
16:52courting the
16:53adverse attention
16:54of the authorities.
16:58again
16:59first thing
17:00in the morning
17:00no less
17:01he had returned
17:01for a second
17:02encounter.
17:05The previous day
17:06he had called
17:07the temple
17:07a house of prayer
17:09and in the instance
17:10today
17:11he was preaching.
17:14This makes
17:15an interesting
17:17association
17:17for us
17:18that it is not
17:19possible to preach
17:20without prayer
17:22or indeed
17:23to pray
17:24without preaching.
17:26At the same time
17:27it is necessary
17:28to enjoy the word
17:29as it is praying.
17:32The two
17:33activities
17:33are totally
17:34inseparable.
17:38Menaced
17:39by the chief priests
17:40and their acolytes
17:41Jesus was
17:42gravely insulted
17:43by their arrogance
17:43and their ignorance.
17:47Had they stopped
17:48for just a moment
17:48considering the
17:50miracles that
17:51Jesus had performed
17:52together with the
17:53clarity and
17:54sincerity of his
17:55preaching
17:57they would have
17:58realised he had
17:59more than any
18:00mortal authority.
18:03Indeed
18:04Nicodemus
18:04who was one of
18:05these leaders
18:06had acknowledged
18:07Jesus as a man
18:08of God
18:09but these
18:10filled completely
18:11with envy
18:12and malice
18:13were unwilling
18:14and unable
18:15to consider
18:16any such
18:17evidence.
18:19as ever
18:20Jesus
18:21had the
18:21perfect
18:22response
18:22in the
18:23quiet
18:24question
18:24that he
18:24posed
18:25to his
18:25accusers.
18:27What did
18:28they consider
18:28John's
18:29authority to be?
18:32Finding
18:32themselves
18:33trapped by
18:33Jesus
18:34they
18:34declined
18:34to answer.
18:36In their
18:37arrogance
18:37they could
18:38not or
18:38would not
18:39speak
18:39the words
18:40of the
18:40blindingly
18:41obvious
18:41at least
18:42as far
18:43as the
18:43crowd
18:43was
18:43concerned.
18:45Had they
18:46acknowledged
18:47John
18:47they would
18:48have been
18:48obliged
18:48to
18:49acknowledge
18:49Jesus
18:49for the
18:51evidence
18:51for Jesus
18:52was far
18:53more compelling
18:54than that
18:54for John.
18:58Jesus
18:59went on
18:59to issue
19:00a stern
19:01warning
19:01to the
19:02Jews
19:02in the
19:02parable
19:02of the
19:03vineyard
19:03and its
19:04owner.
19:05The
19:06vineyard
19:06is of
19:06course
19:07a
19:07promised
19:07land
19:08heaven
19:09and the
19:09owner
19:10is God
19:10who
19:11prepared
19:11it for
19:12his
19:12people
19:12to live
19:13in.
19:14The
19:15tenants
19:15that Jesus
19:16referred to
19:17are the
19:17children of
19:17Abraham
19:18the
19:19inheritors
19:19of the
19:20promise
19:20that God
19:21made
19:21with him
19:22Isaac
19:23and Jacob
19:25the slaves
19:26that were
19:26sent to
19:26collect his
19:27portion of
19:27the harvest
19:28were his
19:29prophets.
19:32After their
19:33captivity in
19:34Egypt
19:34the Israelites
19:35were led
19:35by Moses
19:36and Joshua
19:38into
19:39a promised
19:39land
19:40a land
19:41that God
19:41had given
19:41to Abraham
19:42many years
19:43previously
19:43as is
19:44promised
19:44in
19:44heresies
19:46the land
19:47was rich
19:47flowing
19:48with milk
19:48and honey
19:49as we read
19:50in Exodus
19:503.8
19:52What was
19:53the tenancy
19:53agreement
19:54we ask
19:56God
19:56issued
19:57Moses
19:57with a
19:57contract
19:58summed up
19:59in the
19:59Ten Commandments
20:00which outlined
20:01the principles
20:02of behavior
20:03which he
20:04demanded
20:04from his
20:05people
20:06together
20:06with other
20:07requirements
20:07detailing
20:08how he
20:08would be
20:09worshipped
20:12this
20:13as we
20:13know
20:14they
20:14failed
20:14to do
20:14not just
20:15once
20:15but over
20:16and over
20:16and over
20:17again
20:19prophet
20:19after prophet
20:20was sent
20:21to warn
20:21the people
20:22of the error
20:22of their
20:23ways
20:23and of the
20:24consequences
20:24of their
20:25sins
20:27sometimes
20:27they would
20:28take notice
20:28for a short
20:29while
20:30but much
20:30of the time
20:31they were
20:31given little
20:32attention
20:33one only
20:34has to read
20:35through the
20:35second book
20:36of kings
20:36to discover
20:38a long list
20:38of those
20:39kings
20:39who dishonored
20:40God
20:40and the
20:41very few
20:41who kept
20:42his laws
20:45so as a
20:46result
20:46the Israelites
20:47were led
20:47away
20:48into captivity
20:50many were
20:50to learn
20:51the error
20:51of their
20:52ways
20:52and were
20:52allowed
20:53to return
20:53home
20:55only to
20:56forget
20:56what they
20:56had learnt
20:57and to
20:58return
20:59back
20:59into a
21:00life of
21:00sin
21:02so in
21:03the end
21:03God
21:03had no
21:04choice
21:04but to
21:05send
21:05his son
21:09it is
21:10easy to
21:10read this
21:11passage
21:11and to
21:11feel
21:12complacent
21:13these
21:14were
21:14criticisms
21:14of a
21:15people
21:152000
21:16years
21:16ago
21:16and the
21:17mistakes
21:18that they
21:18made
21:18are
21:19blindingly
21:19obvious
21:20to us
21:22however
21:22there is
21:24a serious
21:24danger
21:24that we
21:25too
21:25are

21:31we
