00:30I guess that's a unique talent to Sonic X Sonic
00:34Though the theme song is actually kind of great aside from the constant repetition of Go
00:38I like that it progresses as being at the end, like the guy sounds like he's enjoying singing it
00:44I mean it's catchy, no doubt about that
00:48I'm torn between thinking it's really enjoyable and really annoying
00:53A giant robot hits away Sonic, and Tails flies in with this tornado too
00:58And the plane gets hit with Amy pointlessly in it just so that she can be in the rest of
01:03the show
01:03What was she expecting to do?
01:06Tails drops a ring into the woods
01:08And this magically makes Sonic jump really high into the air and spin dash all over the place destroying robots
01:14Why the fuck couldn't he have done this naturally?
01:18This was always stupid about Sonic X
01:21The plane starts trying to land and rides towards something, making Amy worry that they're gonna crash
01:27I guess Knuckles saved them?
01:30Huh, the golden robot has a very stereotypical robot voice
01:34I don't like that
01:36I never thought I would miss the scratching grounder impersonations from Sonic F
01:42It's pretty weird to hear the dumb four kids game voice actors in the Sonic cartoon
01:47But at the same time, it's really easy for me to get used to it because I'm already used to
01:52it from the games
01:53Cream has such a generic dialogue, like
01:55Oh, Sonic always tries to stop you from doing bad things
01:58Oh, you won't get away with this
02:00Why do shows even bother having that kind of dialogue anymore?
02:03They should just cut past the filler
02:05I'm not gonna like the show, am I?
02:07Also, Cream's voice was really disturbing to me
02:11Eggman says he'll just have to press a button
02:13And Sonic says that he won't be able to press it before he grabs it
02:16Only for Eggman to arbitrarily not press the button as soon as he possibly can
02:21Instead, Sonic is able to run all over the place, and the machine ends up exploding because of Sonic
02:28Knuckles says it used to be Chaos Control because of a badly translated line
02:32As light spreads over to them and warps them to Earth
02:35Seriously, that was such a dumb plot hole
02:38So the whole reason they got sent to Earth was because Eggman didn't press a button when he had plenty
02:42of time to do it
02:44Because Sonic was taking forever! Sonic wouldn't take forever!
02:47He'd have knocked Eggman down before he could even try!
02:51Sonic gets overwhelmed when he sees that he's in a human city with a bunch of cars stopped around him
02:55And the humans all staring at him
02:57The humans are naturally confused at seeing him
02:59And one of the cops says he'd better get him out of here
03:03I like that the blonde cop kneels down and is nice to Sonic
03:07Asking Sonic if he wants to ride with him in the cop car
03:10That's a pretty charming line
03:12I guess Sonic is just messing with him
03:14Because he could easily run away from them at super speed
03:17But instead, he wastes time standing there, lets them try to tackle him, and spins them around
03:24A cop puts a net over him, and he runs away, pulling the cops along behind him
03:28And sending them into a police car when they're just doing their jobs
03:32Well, doing their jobs
03:33So I don't see why they were wasting time trying to bother Sonic and why they felt that he needed
03:38to
03:39This was all a waste of time
03:40I like the cops' freaked out reaction to seeing Sonic run in front of their car
03:45As they have their eyes all wide open and try to act calm
03:48Sonic then gets chased by a helicopter
03:50It makes sense that people would be freaking out about Sonic
03:53Since he's so fast, and for all they know, he's an evil and fading alien
03:57He never bothered to properly introduce himself to anyone
04:00Like someone with actual social skills would try to do
04:04Emphasis on try, because people might be too freaked out to want to bother listening to him
04:08But this was never a problem for this long and Archie
04:11Nate just told them all it was cool because he was Sonic's friend
04:14And they immediately started being polite and nice to Sonic and friends
04:18We then get the introduction of Sam and Speed
04:23Apparently, the police force has a section of them that are basically drag racers and red drag race cars
04:29Which are illegal by the way
04:31Drag racing is probably something that causes a lot of car accidents with the cars speeding without obeying traffic laws
04:36So logically, it makes no sense that this would even be a thing
04:40But it is pretty charming in a Sonic silliness kind of way
04:46Where even though this is the boring human world
04:48They're not taking things totally too seriously
04:51But it's stupid that they're wasting so much time on this
04:54As if they're expecting the audience to actually believe
04:57For even a second that Sam Speed's human built car could outrun Sonic
05:03Wow, they managed to waste even more time in the episode in the most cheating way possible
05:07Because Sonic remembers what happened with the Chaos Control light
05:11Which is obviously just reused footage of all of his friends being swallowed up by the light
05:16It's not like this episode is bad to watch
05:18It's not torture or frustrating in any way so far
05:21It's just that I can tell when my time is being wasted
05:25And most of this is just a waste of time
05:27I knew that I would miss Sonic F when I'd start actually watching this show
05:30And part of it is that Sonic F really does a great job of bridging the show properly
05:35But at the same time, I do at least appreciate getting to see what I've been missing
05:38Like the way Sonic toyed with the cops was a charming moment
05:42Albeit an example of how Sonic X Sonic is an antisocial dick
05:46Who doesn't have the best social skills compared to the other ones
05:50Because come on, he could have just talked to them
05:53But this is something I found fascinating in the Sonic X comic
05:57And I've heard it's even more obvious in the show
06:00He's more of an aloof ally
06:03Like Shadow before Shadow
06:05He's more of that than the outgoing Sonic
06:09Why is Sonic standing still looking intimidated of Sam Speed's race car
06:13Instead of immediately running away?
06:16Why did Sam get out of his car when talking to what he thought was a dangerous evil alien?
06:21But why is he casually talking about a drag racer he ran after?
06:26Oh, I guess that's why Sam Speed exists
06:29The police have so much trouble with drag racers that they decided to fight fire with fire
06:33Seriously, why is Sonic wasting time standing there and hearing Sam brag about how fast his car is?
06:40And he runs away looking scared
06:42That's so out of character for him in this situation
06:44As I wonder if Chris' genius relative Chuck made those Sam Speed race cars
06:50Because there's no way they'd be fast enough to keep up with him otherwise
06:54I actually really smiled when Sonic said sarcastically
06:57That was actually really charming
06:59And I didn't think this show could have great lines like that
07:02He jumps on top of a car and wastes time lecturing kids breaking the fourth bowl about how they shouldn't
07:07do this
07:08And the charm is in the fact that he's saying to not do this to a Formula One race car
07:13Not just cars in general
07:16Then he toys with them some more by trying to run in place
07:20Sam's trying to be taken seriously by saying that he won't have anyone be faster than him on his highway
07:25I'm saying this because he's talking slowly
07:28Why did he mention that he could beat Sonic if he went Super Sonic?
07:32How would he ever know about that Superform's existence?
07:35I guess when he said go Super Sonic he meant
07:37Well no, he should have said go Super Sonic Speed
07:42Sonic outruns Sam
07:43Which he should have just been shown to do way earlier
07:46And flies off a cliff
07:48That's really charming
07:50How would Sonic keep himself in the air like a Looney Tunes character?
07:53That was dumb
07:54He falls into the water
07:56And I immediately really miss how Sonic F has a sound effect play here
07:59Where a timer thing chimes the longer he's underwater
08:03Like in the game
08:05Instead they just have ominous music
08:08Because Sonic's drowning Chris's pool
08:10And somehow falling into the pool from that great a height doesn't injure him at all
08:15Normally when Sonic should be getting hurt
08:17Or I can assume he has rings in his aura protecting him
08:20But in Sonic X
08:21Rings are used as a deus ex machina
08:23To get Sonic capable of spin-dashing through robots at super speed
08:27As he should be able to do in the first place
08:29Since he's clearly fast on his own
08:32So it becomes harder to believe that they're for invincibility
08:35When all they seem to do is enhance Sonic's natural talent
08:38Oh good the violin music tries to imitate the drowning music
08:41So there's some charm in self-awareness
08:44But yeah I liked Sonic F's handling of this better
08:47Where Sonic was thinking about how humiliated he was
08:49That he couldn't even get out of a kid's swimming pool
08:52Are you okay?
08:54Oh Chris's voice isn't nearly as annoying as his in Sonic F
08:57I get that F wanted to make fun of him by giving a super whiny voice
09:00But at least here his voice is tolerable
09:03I wish they got that voice for Tails though
09:06It sounds like an actual boy's voice
09:08He doesn't sound like it could be super annoying
09:11I hate that they try to make such a big deal about Sonic telling him his name
09:15As if it's the most epic thing ever
09:18It's so lame and cheesy
09:20Realistically Sonic would have just said his name a lot faster than that
09:23Instead of having a dramatic pause with music playing
09:27And the credits music is horrible
09:28And I paused it right away
09:30Compare this to the Sonic Underground credits music
09:32Which is Awesomeness Incarnate
09:34And this is just the most annoying memorable part
09:37The theme song done right away
09:39Okay so this episode was mostly just a waste of time
09:42I've heard that anime has a big filler problem
09:44Well I don't agree with the idea that there can be filler episodes
09:47Because come on a story is a story
09:49And that has value on its own merit
09:51But it's a really bad thing when the entire episode can be summed up in such a small amount of
09:56words
09:56That it makes it all sound like padding
09:58Sonic gets blasted into Earth by Chaos Control
10:01Because somehow Eggman didn't press the world domination button fast enough
10:04And he damaged his machine
10:06Which is total bullshit
10:08And then Sonic wastes time running around Earth
10:10Freaking everyone out
10:11Without even trying to properly introduce himself to them to make them relax
10:14He runs away from the cops
10:16Toying with them pointlessly
10:17Which includes a drag racer section of the cops
10:20Which is totally unrealistic
10:22But keeps in touch with a typical Sonic silliness at least
10:25And so he falls into Christmas pool
10:27Because he ran off a cliff with a lot of momentum
10:30Basically the entire half an hour episode can be summarized in just one sentence
10:36Sonic gets sent to Earth through an extreme contrivance
10:38And then runs away for a while
10:40He runs
10:41That's it
10:41That's the whole episode
10:44Needless to say that was a waste of time
10:46And immediately made me want to watch Sonic F's first episode again
10:49Where they cut straight to Sonic outspeeding Sam as soon as possible
10:52Instead of taking him too seriously
10:55Knuckles' friends made fun of him saying it used to be Chaos Control
10:58Rouge lampshades how she doesn't get to say anything
11:00And just stayed there like a gargoyle
11:03And they made fun of Sonic flying through the air with a silly song
11:06And played up for laughs
11:07Him being stuck in the pool
11:10That's all just from what I remember
11:11I haven't even rewatched it again yet
11:14Although as fillery as this episode was
11:16There were a few moments I really loved about the episode
11:20Sonic's sarcastic line where he pretended he could never be faster than the cops
11:23Was surprisingly amusing
11:24And it was also charming seeing him toy with the cops as they surrounded him
11:28But it's not a good sign when you can honestly say that most of an episode
11:31Could have been cut out of the story and replaced with genuine plot developments
11:34And nothing would have been lost
11:36In fact it wouldn't be surprising if you could fill up a half an hour
11:39By just cutting out all Sonic X's filler
11:43And end up putting multiple of its episodes into half an hour
11:47And there you go
11:48You'd get a much better episode because it'd actually be fast paced for a show with a theme song of
11:53Gotta Go Fast
11:54Because it'd actually keep up the plot development
11:56And have more than one plot for the whole episode
