00:04It starts out by wasting an entire page for no reason on marine teleporting to Bonnie when she's in Emerald
00:11Hill because she used the magic scepter.
00:14And for no reason she's dizzy, and I have to assume it's because she doesn't usually use it, but that's
00:20really stupid.
00:22How would someone use it in a way that doesn't make her dizzy?
00:25How do you use a teleportation scepter wrong?
00:30You'd teleport with it by holding it and thinking that you want to teleport and imagining where you want to
00:35go.
00:36How do you get that wrong?
00:38The person doing that would do the same thing as the kind of person you'd expect to use it.
00:45It doesn't have to kneecap the fact that she did something cool to make it believable.
00:51It's a magic scepter.
00:53So why would someone curse it to make people dizzy for using it or use it in the wrong way?
01:00She's asked if she's alright and wonders where she is.
01:04So then how did the scepter know to send her to Emerald Hill specifically instead of any of the other
01:10fields she would have been picturing?
01:12The story didn't have to make itself less believable by having her only come here by an extremely unlikely coincidence.
01:21Already the story makes so little sense I can tell it wasn't come up with originally by the experts who
01:27write for this website.
01:29It really is the half-assed writing from the physical run of late Archie.
01:34They have the kind of dialogue you'd expect.
01:37Bunny refusing to tell her why she's part robot because she's selfish which is dumb of her since the first
01:43conclusion anyone would come to upon seeing her would be that she's one of the cyborgs working for Eggman.
01:48Something Sonic could have mentioned when he was around her.
01:53And she's from a world where the worst person in it is a robot.
01:58So it's a miracle she doesn't assume she's a bad guy from how she looks like Rouge did in another
02:04universe.
02:06And it's pretty stupid of her to say that it's rude of her to ask why she's part robot.
02:12That's a very legitimate thing to be confused about.
02:16She can't read her mind.
02:19She says they've got to go to the soul dimension and tells her to go this way even though it
02:25turns out she doesn't know which way to go.
02:28But she got here by teleporting from the soul dimension.
02:31So she would just warp back there.
02:34Nobody would be this stupid.
02:37Yeah, this is a restoration of a reboot issue alright.
02:40Every character is brainless to the point of hardly feeling like people anymore.
02:45And this is why they shouldn't be wasting their time on this because you can't polish a turd.
02:51I wouldn't be saying this if I knew for a fact that a different team was working on this that
02:57would never work on a real Archisonic issue.
03:01Somehow Bunny's dumb enough to not know how Maureen got here even though she came here in a flash of
03:07light holding a notable looking scepter.
03:11So a whole panel is wasted on exposition the entire audience already knows.
03:17She's asked how she got the scepter and she says she stole it.
03:22The writer just sweeps under the rug explaining how someone as incompetent as her managed to sneak past the guards
03:29that'd be almost constantly guarding the scepter to do this.
03:34The security would have been made impossible to get past after the last time it got somehow stolen without them
03:40noticing.
03:42Even if one of the guards left to go to the bathroom he'd tell someone to take his place.
03:48Why would a world with robot pirates in it not have security cameras and robot guards?
03:54It would have been interesting to find out how Maureen got the scepter.
03:59So we should have seen that.
04:02Confusingly, Bunny doesn't already know about Blades.
04:06Sonic didn't already tell her about his adventure that happened forever ago.
04:11Even though they're friends, so you'd expect him to tell Bunny how his day went.
04:16So apparently, I'm forced to assume Sonic didn't trust her not to assume he was lying if he told her
04:22he was whooped to the Soul Dimension because of how arbitrary it was.
04:26And to assume Tails was just vouching for him to humor him.
04:30Even though it'd be out of character for them to lie to their friends.
04:33And wait, couldn't they have just shown Bunny the vehicle they used to go from the Soul Dimension to the
04:40other dimension?
04:42That they were too lazy to give a name because Sega doesn't care about worldbuilding?
04:46How is it necessary to make her confused about this?
04:49It's pure meta logic.
04:51Because she didn't meet Blaze.
04:54So the writer's like, clearly she wouldn't even know she exists yet.
04:57Because he didn't care enough to think.
05:00Marine's nice enough to warn her not to look around too much as she gets seasick.
05:04And it wastes two panels on them morphing away.
05:08And somehow Bunny isn't dizzy from using the scepter.
05:11Even though Marine is and was also holding it.
05:15So this is obvious favoritism from the writer.
05:17Which only makes Bunny a little annoying.
05:20Especially because she didn't earn favoritism yet because she didn't do anything in the story.
05:25And if it's really about the opposite of favoritism against Marine.
05:30Well Marine didn't do anything in the story on the first panel to deserve being made dizzy yet.
05:38I can assume that the magic of the scepter only makes people dizzy of their DNA in a specific way.
05:43But why would the person who cursed the scepter while making it able to warp only target people like that
05:48instead of everyone?
05:49When the scepter would have been given its powers long before the discovery of DNA because it's ancient.
05:55Maybe it's targeted at raccoons because Blaze's family had a beef with them.
06:00But I shouldn't have to make up fanfiction to explain stuff in a story.
06:04Even if it is satisfying to do.
06:06I'd rather read a bad story where I get the chance to do that than read one where I don't.
06:11Where it doesn't stimulate my brain much at all.
06:14Bunny hears some noise and tells her to stay still to stay out of trouble.
06:18Blaze and some guard are busy fighting some shadow creatures.
06:23It's good that I'm finally seeing something new.
06:26And while it's confusing at first that fire isn't really helping against them.
06:31I guess magical creatures like these can be fireproof.
06:35And a shadowy figure taunts her that she failed to save him.
06:38So that's better than them all being silent and reminding me of the dark Gaia creatures.
06:44He reminds me of Mephiles, but still.
06:47Bunny saves her and gets thanked.
06:49Their fighting's just a waste of time because it doesn't do anything.
06:53It looks cool to see Bunny shooting lasers, but all of their fighting is pointless.
06:58We know they're not gonna get injured.
07:01Why didn't they all merge into one golem a lot earlier?
07:05They get talked to by a fan service ripoff of Mephiles, complete with them bowing to greet them, called Null.
07:12Who says he's here because of Blaze's reckless abandon.
07:16Well, they liked Mephiles as a concept, so I appreciate getting to see it used again in a new story.
07:21Blaze accused them of lying, and he eventually says he's here to restore order by killing them, and she tells
07:28them to leave Bunny alone.
07:30He actually agrees that only Blaze is his target, so he contradicted himself right away.
07:36He hates her for searing away the dimension's stability by leaving it.
07:40I guess he's just like a computer program who just mindlessly is programmed to hate anyone who does that after
07:47detecting that they did that.
07:49Because Blaze would have told him she had to leave her dimension to get the soul emeralds back, so it
07:55wouldn't be destroyed anyway.
07:57And then he'd need to forgive her and leave.
08:00Instead, I just have to assume he doesn't have the free will to forgive her.
08:05I mean, he already was obviously made by somebody else, and not in the biological sense, because who would name
08:13his baby Null?
08:16But because that's not explained, he's not that much better written than Mephiles,
08:20who had no actual reason to want to fuse with Iblis because of it to make him a mindless monster,
08:25and no reason to want to destroy reality because he'd destroy himself, too.
08:30In this guy, it isn't explained that he was created specifically to punish anyone who leaves the dimension
08:36and just arbitrarily makes it less stable in a plot point that rips off that bullshit plot point from 25
08:42years later
08:43where the world was ending because Sonic kept going to other dimensions,
08:47even though the portals completely disappeared after he went into them,
08:51leaving no trace behind of their existence.
08:54There's some more time wasted, and Bunny gets covered in darkness, and it hurts because of magic.
09:00She fires a laser at Null successfully, and that works, causing them to not be in danger anymore.
09:08So apparently the dark creatures do have a mind of their own because they chose go away
09:14instead of wanting to stick around to get back at the person who attacked Null,
09:20and then they would have won.
09:21So they're idiots for retreating because they couldn't attack them.
09:27I'm guessing Null survived because that'd be anticlimactic from getting rid of him early,
09:31even though I doubt his character was going to get any more interesting than this
09:35with how little nuance he's been thinking with so far.
09:38So why would Null not just instantly come back to fight them after he regenerated?
09:43Eventually, Blaze burns away the darkness on Bunny, and they thank each other,
09:48and Blaze looks even more likable by saying sorry because she owes her so much
09:52and doesn't even know her name.
09:55It makes sense that they were too focused on fighting for her to tell her that.
09:58After some wasted time, Blaze compliments her laser power without smiling,
10:04which implies that she wants to find out why she's part of Robot,
10:07but somehow she doesn't ask her that.
10:10And there's no Thought Bubble explaining that she assumes a friend of Sonic's
10:16made her able to do that.
10:18And she thanks Blaze and is asked what it was like being covered in darkness,
10:23and she ends up telling her she could feel every other person they'd taken over.
10:28It's too vague, so it's hard to tell what she means.
10:31So she physically felt them weighing against her body,
10:35or she felt other personality traits and interests than her own.
10:40I don't know why she says they never are gone,
10:43when this is the first time she's dealing with these monsters.
10:47Why would Blaze not question her saying this?
10:51I assume she's saying this out of habit,
10:54because she's thinking of them as dark Gaia creatures?
10:57But Blaze would have been confused.
11:00I guess it makes sense that in a world with magical teleporting scepters,
11:04Blaze can delude herself into thinking they'll bring everyone back.
11:08But if she was able to do that,
11:10she would have already done it using the soul emeralds.
11:13And that's the only magical thing that we're aware she's aware of,
11:18other than the scepter, which, for all we know, can't do that.
11:23Bunny reassures her.
11:24And for no reason, Blaze whines that the scepter isn't a toy just because it's being shaken.
11:30Thanks Blaze, who talks too much, and tells her the city she lives in.
11:35At least the writer thought things through enough to realize
11:38that some people would still refer to her by her original last name.
11:42Blaze says she'd like to show her something,
11:45and they see a grave with Bunny's last name on it,
11:48and she's told that her family used to protect the scepter
11:51and still serve the Soul Empire in a reduced role.
11:55Too bad we aren't told why they're in a reduced role,
11:58which makes no apparent sense,
12:00considering how worthless the current guards have been.
12:04So I assume the Bunny guards were just as worthless.
12:08I wish I hadn't been spoiled on this reveal.
12:12The art's doing the best job it can to still get you infested in the emotion of the scene,
12:17because Bunny looks shocked about this.
12:20But whether I actually have a reason to care about this
12:23depends on whether the plot is going to be affected by it.
12:26And why do they have to call it the Soul Empire just because IDW said it,
12:32when calling it the Soul Empire necessarily says that it colonizes other countries against their will,
12:40which casts it a negative light because the people there don't like that they're doing that.
12:46It's an IDW thing. It's a different universe.
12:49I like that she was written to say that that's why the ocean felt so familiar to her in an
12:54earlier issue.
12:54Marine comforts her in a speech holding her hand.
12:59That's nice, but they literally just met.
13:02Blade says she'd love to show her family.
13:06But somehow, and possibly,
13:09Bunny says she'd rather go back to her dimension
13:12instead of being desperate to see them as fast as possible.
13:16Which is the opposite of fan service,
13:19because I'm pretty sure people wanted to see her reaction to seeing her family here.
13:25And she insults Marine for being annoying,
13:28and it's lampshaded how rude the timing was.
13:31You know, you could have just cut out worthless filler
13:34and had more than enough time to show her reacting to her family.
13:39Sometimes wasted with boring, worthless dialogue.
13:42And surprisingly, the story ends without Null being defeated for real,
13:46with Bunny being sent back home and thanked.
13:49What was even the point of not killing Null
13:52if you were never going to use him again?
13:55Instead, it just makes it feel like the story ended on a cliffhanger
13:58when the whole point of making this issue
14:00was to resolve a loose, dangling plot thread to begin with.
14:04But there doesn't seem to be any interesting story potential
14:06in going back to the one the story made about Null.
14:10All I'd see is more of the characters failing to hurt some monsters
14:14until Bunny lasers Null again.
14:16Because if there were any more, more dangerous monsters,
14:20I'd be wondering why they didn't attack the first time.
14:24And if they used new powers,
14:26I'd wonder why they didn't do that the first time.
14:29It just creates another dangling plot thread
14:32by not showing her reacting to her family.
14:36And having Null survive only makes it seem like
14:40it ended right as soon as it began.
14:44This issue credited Chozo Hunter Mike as its writer.
14:48But it is a restoration of someone else's story,
14:51and it sure feels like it was written by Ian Flynn
14:54with how stupid the characters are,
14:56and how little things make sense.
14:59I kept having my emotion ruined
15:01by stuff that ultimately didn't matter
15:03for the plot overall.
15:05And something that did matter.
15:07Maureen somehow teleported to Bunny,
15:09even though she didn't know where she was
15:11when she worked there.
15:12So it makes no sense
15:14that she was lucky enough to get to her.
15:17All the story was about
15:19was Bunny and Blaze failing to do any damage
15:21to monsters until the ringleader
15:23got hit with a single laser
15:25instead of satisfyingly punched a bunch of times
15:28for guilting and scaring Blaze so much.
15:31So Blaze should have been the one to do that.
15:34Blaze really does get the short end
15:36of the stick in Archie.
15:37So after all the times or appearances
15:39and it disappointed people before,
15:42it's just more disrespect
15:44to have her be nothing but useless
15:46and scared again.
15:48Where her ability to fight is just for show.
15:51She could have just cowered the whole time
15:53and accomplish the same thing.
15:55It's just the same Ian Flynn problems
15:57as all of the issues in the reboot
15:59by having impossibly stupid characters
16:01and not caring enough to have things
16:03make sense to everybody.
16:05Why did Nell not immediately
16:07get talked out of fighting Blaze
16:08by getting told she had to leave her dimension
16:11and it's fine now?
16:13Because there's no reason
16:14that it would still be unstable
16:16since the whole reason it was made unstable
16:19was because the Soul Emeralds weren't there.
16:22He doesn't look like a robot
16:24so he doesn't come off
16:26like he doesn't have the free will
16:27to be reasonable
16:28so he just looks like he's crazy.
16:31If only it was explained in the story
16:33that he knows why she left it
16:34and can't stop himself
16:36from fighting with her.
16:37If he was caused
16:39by her leaving that dimension
16:41that's even more stupid
16:43because who named him then?
16:45Why would he call himself that?
16:48And it just seems arbitrary
16:49that he's taking people over
16:50who had nothing to do
16:51with the dimension
16:52and stability he's mad about
16:53despite the fact that he said
16:54only Blaze is his target.
16:56He has nothing to gain
16:57from doing that.
16:59He'd need someone to have created him
17:01to make him have the motive he does
17:02but that person would have had
17:03good intentions
17:04so he wouldn't have been made
17:05to take people over.
17:06If he was cursed by someone extra
17:08that should have been explained.
17:10Instead of just answering them
17:11inexplicably not coming back
17:13to fight Blaze
17:14right after he'd inevitably
17:15heal himself.
17:17Why would he take a long time
17:18to regenerate?
17:20Mephiles instantly healed
17:22any damage done to him.
17:24It looks like he took
17:25a lethal amount of damage
17:26and he's still going to come back
17:28so at that point
17:29he might as well just stick around
17:31and wait to be healed.
17:34His dark creatures
17:35would have just stayed there
17:36because they're invincible
17:38and kept attacking.
17:40Nothing about the story
17:41made any sense.
17:43And it wasn't really worth it
17:44because we didn't get to see
17:46Blaze get to shine.
17:48And all Bunny got to do
17:49that was cool
17:50was fire one laser
17:51like she's done that
17:52a million times.
17:54As usual
17:55the only way this kind of
17:56restored story would have been good
17:57would have been for the people
17:59who restored it
17:59to not be as loyal as possible
18:01to what it was meant to be.
18:03Nobody put a gun to their heads
18:04and forced them
18:05to make Bunny and Marine
18:07look like idiots
18:07or make Marine dizzy
18:09but not Bunny
18:10or more importantly
18:11have all the major plot holes
18:13that means the story
18:14shouldn't have happened
18:15the way it did.
18:16Nobody put a gun to their head
18:18and forced them
18:20to have it make no sense
18:21that Marine got to Bunny
18:23and have it make no sense
18:25that the dark creatures
18:28disappeared
18:29and have one laser
18:31be the only thing
18:31that happened to know.
18:33Only a few people
18:34would be upset
18:35if those problems
18:35weren't in the story
18:36because there's nothing
18:37to like about them.
18:38And most Flynn fans
18:40wouldn't know
18:40the story wasn't
18:41perfectly faithful
18:42because they wouldn't
18:43have been aware
18:43of every single detail
18:44in the original story.
18:46I'm sure a lot
18:47of the dialogue
18:49if not all of it
18:51is completely original.
18:52So at that point
18:54why not add
18:55some dialogue
18:56that would actually
18:57explain
18:58what doesn't make sense
19:00about the original story?
19:02At least the story
19:03wasn't nearly as full
19:04of boring dialogue
19:05as IDW
19:06so the pacing
19:08was almost okay.
19:09I wasn't as impatient
19:10as usual
19:11going through most of this
19:12because the fight
19:13was a little exciting
19:15but it was still
19:16a slog to get through
19:17the beginning
19:17and the fight felt
19:18like a waste of my time
19:19because the heroes
19:20didn't make any progress
19:21in it and didn't look cool
19:23until the one laser
19:24at the end.
19:25And they didn't get
19:26to save anyone
19:27so all they were fighting
19:28for was to protect themselves
19:30and we knew
19:31they had plot armor.
19:32It destroyed almost
19:33all the tension
19:34right away
19:34by immediately having
19:35the guard get taken over
19:37when it could have had
19:38them need to protect
19:39him the whole time
19:40with there being
19:41actual tension
19:42because he doesn't
19:43have plot armor.
