00:12And there's some more predictable, boring padding where there's so much dialogue that the pacing's so slow I'm just bored.
00:19The mecha's just being fought like I'd expect. You could have Tails have some new gadgets, and then you would
00:26be able to have the characters do something you didn't expect without wondering why they didn't do that in the
00:32games.
00:33Shadow sends some blue energy at the mecha. Since when does the energy throw is blue? That doesn't look like
00:41a chaos spear.
00:43Why doesn't he just warp to Eggman and warp him out of the mecha if he's willing to use chaos
00:49powers?
00:50Rouge gets hurt by a robot, but I don't get to see the impact. And she somehow surprised Shadow caught
00:57her.
00:58Despite Sonic Heroes happening.
01:01This isn't new either, this is just something Sonic 06 did.
01:05And then he wastes time talking saying that he's now in perfect position to do something.
01:10So because of the wasted time, he gets interrupted doing cast control and loses the emerald.
01:16He wouldn't think he had such a short distance teleportation he'd have to get this close to him.
01:22He could warp longer distances than that in Sonic Adventure 2 when he and Sonic were racing.
01:28And that's a game where he saved Rouge from being blown up when he could have easily just saved the
01:34emeralds.
01:35So again, she wouldn't be surprised.
01:38The heroes get away from Eggman who somehow politely lets them talk to each other while doing nothing.
01:44He shoots missiles at them and they lure them into the mecha.
01:48Nothing about this is creative.
01:51I'm pretty sure he had chainsaws on a mecha in that story in a Sonic novel.
01:58Some civilians start falling, but it's not the heroes who get to save them.
02:02The people we care about.
02:04It's the Jesters.
02:07Okay, but you already had them do something unforgivable.
02:10So I don't care what you're doing with them after that point.
02:14Sonic thanks them and he and Shadow get hit, but I don't get to see the impact anyways.
02:20Eventually, the energy readings of the mecha end up at 0% because of Rouge putting an energy drainer on
02:26it that we didn't know existed until now.
02:29If we had though, there would have been no stakes because we'd just be waiting for the incredibly easy resolution
02:35to happen.
02:36Well, it's a good thing they did have something new happen.
02:40But in just a few panels, Eggman locks Tails out and undoes what he did with a firewolf.
02:47So that was pointless.
02:50The Jesters fly through the mecha, but it's drawn like garbage because nearly everything's black and white,
02:56and I've got every reason to hate most of these characters, so I don't appreciate them stealing the spotlight to
03:02wreck Eggman's mecha in one panel.
03:04This is the most obvious case of OC preferential treatment.
03:09And they thought the Echidnas were given preferential treatment just because they were focused on.
03:15They usually weren't outright showing up the main characters.
03:19What was the point of having Tails' device get made worthless seconds later if the mecha is just going to
03:24be decimated right afterwards anyways?
03:26Why should I have even cared about the mecha fight when Sonic's defeated mechas on his own billions of times
03:34and now he's got a whole bunch of people to assist him?
03:39The mecha falls into the ocean and Eggman flies away.
03:43The mecha didn't even need to take eight hits to get beaten.
03:47And even though Rouge can swim and stay underwater for quite a while, she somehow doesn't even try to salvage
03:53the emerald.
03:55Despite how much she cares about jewels.
03:58And Shadow says the threat is gone so he's got no need for something that can let him freeze time
04:03whenever he wants and teleport longer distances apparently.
04:08Why wouldn't he try to retrieve it anyway?
04:11What else has he got to do with this time?
04:14I bet Sonic's the only one in the Mario and Sonic games who needs a life jacket.
04:18Which means Shadow can swim.
04:20So he tried to salvage it.
04:23Why does Sonic even consider that Eggman got away with the emerald?
04:28Tails uses the Miles electric to find out that the emerald's not in the mecha anymore.
04:33He assumes it got knocked loose in the fight.
04:36So much for the satisfaction of one of the heroes getting away with the emerald to make this all seem
04:40worth it.
04:42Tails is going to look for the emerald underwater, right?
04:45Because he can swim too.
04:47And then the Jesters talk nicely to Sonic and do a corny, cheerleader's formation and thank him.
04:54Such obvious creator's pants.
04:56To treat them as if we'd ever give a shit about these people after the way they acted when I
05:00first saw them.
05:02Soleil thanks Sonic who acts with an uncharacteristic amount of physical affection towards him in a roughhousing sort of way
05:08they don't even get to appreciate.
05:10And the story ends with someone new holding the emeralds and saying he's got them all.
05:14So he didn't even get to earn it himself.
05:18He didn't look competent.
05:19He just happens to get it by happenstance.
05:25This uncreative issue by Evan Stanley was the story where Sonic and his friends deal with the mecha of Eggman's
05:31with nothing new happening the whole time.
05:33Where the story didn't have the guts to have any of the characters get injured or even killed.
05:39And the fact that it was padded out with boring dialogue too made it feel like the pacing was so
05:44slow I was bored the entire time and just wanted to get through the dialogue as fast as possible.
05:50I barely got to see the characters get hit and there wasn't any impact shown when they did.
05:55So he got nothing out of it.
05:57And the characters people care about didn't even get to beat the mecha at the end.
06:02Or get to do any heroism.
06:04And so the abusive family beats the mecha in one panel because they're the new characters of the writer.
06:10And so she thinks they deserve preferential treatment and get to impress the audience.
06:15Despite not establishing that any of them were against the terrible treatment that Slade was put through.
06:24And Slade being nothing but a thief at first.
06:27You can have them shine without showing Sonic up.
06:31But nothing's gonna make me forgive most of them for their first impression.
06:35So the positive portrayal was just sappy and unnecessary and tone deaf.
06:41And the story ended without the heroes even getting an emerald out of it.
06:44Nobody in the fight got anything out of this.
06:47Eggman didn't even come out of this looking menacing by injuring civilians.
06:51What is the point of having a story where Sonic fights another Eggman mecha?
06:56Maybe he would call man to kill our guestуди다.
06:57The later enemies of the papa Lu earth will put the processor back over here.
06:57There's one way to save my schedule.
06:58If he's dead, we do so.
