00:00Sonic the Hedgehog Robotnik's Oil.
00:03Sonic runs through aquatic ruins as a whole bunch of worthless words fill the pages.
00:09How's he dumb enough to have no idea why oil drilling gear would be here?
00:14It's creative of the writer to have this here.
00:17After more boring words, Sonic runs around Eggman to make him dizzy from spinning him,
00:22which is a little cathartic as Eggman just groans about it.
00:25Eventually, he taps his foot impatiently like in games.
00:29As for why he doesn't drag him to jail,
00:32either in this universe he isn't strong enough to,
00:35or he can't transfer his speed force to avoid ripping his arm off from it,
00:40or he keeps him around for fun.
00:42Probably the first one, because how is the writer supposed to know he was strong too?
00:47He has to threaten to spin Eggman again to make him tell him his plan.
00:51That's better, because usually Eggman's stupid enough to tell the heroes his plan unprompted.
00:57But his plan was self-explanatory, so he shouldn't have basked.
01:01It just leads to boring over-explaining of what we already assumed.
01:05Why does Sonic bother warning Eggman that the place would get ruined by pollution if he drills for oil?
01:11This is after Sonic 2.
01:13He should have instantly run away instead of warning him that he's going to stop his plan,
01:18while acknowledging that he's someone with special powers like the dictionary says.
01:22Because he's not under the delusion that he doesn't have any powers, since he's not crazy.
01:27It's got boring words for a while after this.
01:31It has Eggman go after Sonic in Eggmobile with a hammer,
01:35which reminds me of a Sonic Advance game.
01:37Maybe this was the first time that happened.
01:40But it's not that amazingly creative.
01:43After boring words, the Eggmobile crashes into one of the columns.
01:47Which means it actually used the location it was taking place in instead of just having it be there to be lazy and pandered.
01:57Eggman reveals that he wasted the extra materials on making grounders that are slightly bigger than usual.
02:03But at least they were menacing looking because of that.
02:06The predictable happens with Sonic destroying his robots which don't have animals trapped inside them like they're supposed to.
02:13So he doesn't get to save people.
02:15And Eggman has an undignified emotional reaction to it.
02:19This isn't how he was in the games at the time,
02:22and combined with him not already being in the Eggmobile for a quick getaway,
02:26it's out of character.
02:28It keeps being boring with no stakes,
02:30although it's slightly interesting to see Sonic beat robots by jumping so that they fly into each other.
02:36Sometimes with these picture books they don't even need narration.
02:40Eventually it says Sonic rushed back to the oil machines and starts making complex adjustments to it.
02:47There's more pointless words until Eggman thinks he struck oil because of a quake,
02:52but gets sprayed with cold water instead, which is cathartic.
02:56There's a lot of pointless words and it says Eggman tore up his map like a moron for no reason
03:02and dismantled his oil machines to of course reuse their materials.
03:06Which he carries away in a net hanging from the Eggmobile.
03:10He sneezes and eventually it's revealed that Sonic fixed the drilling machines and oil rig,
03:15so they'd pump water from this place instead of oil.
03:19Because this Sonic is smarter than he looks, like an AOSDH.
03:23Which is cool at least.
03:25We've seen Tails use his technology expertise a billion times,
03:29so it's a little more interesting to see this.
03:32People thank Sonic, and one of them is somehow dumb enough to wonder how Sonic always wins.
03:38And after some pointless words, the story's already over.
03:43Ending with Sonic running away without the story even explaining what he planned to do after this.
03:49Even though Tails is there to hang out with.
03:52I can't believe the story's over already.
03:55This story was about Sonic effortlessly beating badniks,
03:59and then messing with the oil drilling machines in Aquatic Ruin to make them spray water at Eggman instead of oil.
04:05Most of the story was boring because most of the words in it were boring
04:09and usually didn't even need to be there since it's a picture book, so the pacing was bad.
04:14I've never seen Eggman have oil drilling machines in Aquatic Ruin before,
04:18so the premise was a little creative.
04:21Not enough to be impressive because anyone could imagine Eggman would do this.
04:26The story made sense.
04:29I'm pretty sure I mentioned everything actually knew that it did.
04:32And for the most part, the characterization was perfect.
04:36Aside from making Eggman too pathetically emotional when his badniks get smashed,
04:40which robs some of his dignity as the main villain.
04:43Having a story all about Eggman vs. Sonic makes the story feel really Sonic-y.
04:49And the fact that a few things happened in it that never did before kept it from being stale.
04:54But because it's all about Eggman vs. Sonic,
04:57it has to have Eggman look like a pathetic loser for failing over and over
05:01in order to provide creative variety instead of just being boring by him doing one thing the whole time.
05:08Because it's just Sonic there.
05:10It should have had a bunch of other people there too, but he doesn't get to hurt anyone.
05:15He didn't even trap animals and his robots.
05:19Which misrepresents him because one of the main appeals of the series is that Sonic was freeing people from his robots all the time.
05:26Making Eggman a threat and Sonic a great hero.
05:29Instead I have to assume that badniks were all powered by batteries.
05:33I love that it felt like it took place in the world of the games.
05:37It's like from Sega Japan forcing the books out of the scary AOSCH design for Eggman, like with the last few books.
05:45I assume that because they also forced Sonic Sunday strips in the second Sonic yearbook to change the design to this.
05:52the consumer is the same.
05:53With the consensus between getting Teamedo's Pass volte of the у mac and management
05:55that goes to go to the Apple Playlist at Summer Home.
05:59We'll use the other
06:10Google Playlist at the pocketbook in the autobody.
06:12He actually plays an electrician car.
06:14But he does.
06:16He absolutely loves that как и famine.
