00:17When a wicked person turns from the wickedness he has committed, and does what is just and right, he will
00:26preserve his life.
00:30For I am aware of my rebellious acts, I am forever conscious of my sin.
00:39Hide your face from my sins, wipe away all my guilt.
00:47The sacrifices God desires are a humble spirit, O God, a humble and repentant heart you will not reject.
01:01Dearly beloved brothers and sisters, the scripture moves us in sundry places to acknowledge and confess our many sins and
01:10wickedness.
01:12We should not justify nor hide them before the face of Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, but confess them with
01:20a humble, lowly, penitent and obedient heart.
01:24To the end that we may obtain forgiveness of the same, by his infinite goodness and mercy.
01:35Although we ought always to humbly acknowledge our sins before God, we should do this particularly when we assemble and
01:43meet together,
01:44to give thanks for the great benefits we have received at his hands.
01:48To give him most worthy praise, to hear his most holy word, and to ask those things which are truly
01:57necessary as well for the body as the soul.
02:03Therefore I pray and ask you, who are present here today, to accompany me with a pure heart and humble
02:09voice to the throne of the heavenly grace, as we say together.
02:16Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep.
02:23We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts.
02:29We have offended against your holy laws.
02:32We have failed to do those things which we ought to have done, and we have done things which we
02:39ought not to have done.
02:44But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable sinners.
02:49Spare those, O God, who confess their faults.
02:53Restore those who are truly penitent, according to your promises declared to mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord.
03:03Grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to
03:12the glory of your holy name.
03:14Amen.
03:18Grant, we beseech you, merciful Lord, to your faithful people, pardon and peace,
03:24that they may be cleansed from all their sins, and serve you with a quiet mind, through Jesus Christ our
03:32Lord.
03:33Amen.
03:38Our Father, who is in heaven, hallowed be your name.
03:43Your kingdom come, your will be done, in earth as it is in heaven.
03:49Give us this day our daily bread.
03:52Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
03:59Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
04:05For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever.
04:10Amen.
04:15O Lord, open our lips, and our mouths shall sing out your praise.
04:23O God, make speed to save us.
04:27O Lord, make haste to help us.
04:33Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
04:39as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
04:43world without end.
04:45Amen.
04:48Praise the Lord.
04:50The Lord's name be praised.
05:09The Lord's name be praised, and the Lord's name be praised, and the Lord's name be praised, and the Lord's

11:05A reading from the book of the prophet Nahum, chapter 1.
11:18The Lord is a zealous and avenging God. The Lord is avenging and very angry. The Lord takes vengeance against
11:28his foes. He sustains his rage against his enemies.
11:33The Lord is slow to anger, but great in power. The Lord will certainly not allow the wicked to go
11:42unpunished.
11:44He merges out in the well wind and the raging storm. Dark storm clouds billow like dust under his feet.
11:53He shouts a battle cry against the sea and makes it dry up. He makes all the rivers run dry.
12:02Bashan and Carmel wither. The blossom of Lebanon withers.
12:07The mountains tremble before him. The hills convulse.
12:12The earth is laid waste before him. The world and all its inhabitants are laid waste.
12:19No one can withstand his indignation. No one can resist his fierce anger.
12:26His wrath is poured out like a volcanic fire.
12:31Boulders are broken up as he approaches.
12:35The Lord is good. Indeed, he is a fortress in time of distress.
12:40And he protects those who seek refuge in him.
12:44But with an overwhelming flood, he will make a complete end of Nineveh.
12:50He will drive his enemies into darkness.
12:54Whatever you plot against the Lord, he will completely destroy.
13:00Distress will not arise a second time.
13:04Surely they will be totally consumed, like entangled thorn bushes,
13:10like the drink of drunkards, like very dry stubble.
13:15From you and Nineveh one has marched forth who plots evil against the Lord,
13:20a wicked military strategist.
13:24This is what the Lord says.
13:27Even though they are powerful.
13:30And what is more, even though their army is numerous,
13:35nonetheless, they will be destroyed and trickle away.
13:39Although I afflicted you, I will afflict you no more.
13:44Now I will break Assyria's yoke bar from your neck.
13:48I will tear apart the shackles that are upon you.
13:53The Lord has issued a decree against you.
13:57Your dynasty will come to an end.
14:00I will destroy the idols and images in the temples of your gods.
14:05I will desecrate your grave, because you are accursed.
14:12Look, a herald is running on the mountains.
14:16Our messenger is proclaiming deliverance.
14:20Celebrate your sacred festivals, O Judah.
14:24Fulfill your sacred vows to praise God.
14:27For never again will the wicked Assyrian invade you.
14:31They have been completely destroyed.
14:35This is the word of the Lord.
14:38Thanks be to God.
14:51Mary said,
14:53My soul exalts the Lord
14:55And my spirit has begun to rejoice in God my Saviour
15:00Because he has looked upon the humble state of his servant
15:06For from now on all generations will call me blessed
15:10Because he who is mighty has done great things for me
15:14And holy is his name
15:17From generation to generation
15:19He is merciful to those who fear him
15:22He has demonstrated power with his arm
15:26He has scattered those whose pride wells up from the sheer arrogance of their hearts
15:33He has brought down the mighty from their thrones
15:36And has lifted up those of lowly position
15:40He has filled the hungry with good things
15:42And has sent the rich away empty
15:46He has helped his servant Israel
15:48Remembering his mercy
15:50As he promised to our ancestors
15:53To Abraham and to his descendants for ever
15:58Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit
16:03As it was in the beginning
16:05Is now and ever shall be
16:07World without end
16:21A reading from the Acts of the Apostles
16:24Chapter 14
16:30The same thing happened in Iconium
16:32When Paul and Barnabas went into the Jewish synagogue
16:35And spoke in such a way
16:37That a large group of Jews and Greeks believed
16:43But the Jews who refused to believe
16:45Stirred up the Gentiles
16:47And poisoned their minds against the brothers
16:51And so they stayed there for a considerable time
16:53Speaking out courageously for the Lord
16:56Who testified to the message of his grace
16:59Granting miraculous signs and wonders
17:02To be performed through their hands
17:06But the population of the city was divided
17:09Some with the Jews
17:11And some with the apostles
17:16When both the Gentiles and the Jews
17:18Together with their rulers
17:19Made an attempt to mistreat them
17:22And stone them
17:23Paul and Barnabas learnt about it
17:26And fled to the Laconian cities
17:29Of Lystra and Derbe
17:30And the surrounding region
17:33And from there they continued
17:35To proclaim the good news
17:38In Lystra
17:39Sat a man who could not use his feet
17:42Lame from birth
17:43Who had never walked
17:46This man was listening to Paul
17:47As he was speaking
17:50When Paul stared intently at him
17:52And saw that he had faith to be healed
17:55He said with a loud voice
17:57Stand up on your feet
18:01And the man leapt up
18:02And began walking
18:04So when the crowds
18:05Saw what Paul had done
18:07They shouted in the Laconian language
18:10The gods have come down from us
18:12In human form
18:14And they began to call Barnabas
18:16Zeus
18:17And Paul
18:18Hermes
18:19Because he was the chief speaker
18:23The priest of the temple of Zeus
18:25Located just outside the city
18:27Brought bulls and garlands
18:28To the city gates
18:30He and the crowds
18:31Wanted to offer sacrifices
18:33To them
18:35But when the apostles
18:37Barnabas and Paul
18:38Heard about it
18:38They tore their clothes
18:40And rushed out into the crowd
18:42Shouting
18:43Men
18:44Why are you doing these things
18:46We too are men
18:47With human natures
18:49Just like you
18:51We are proclaiming the good news to you
18:53So that you should turn
18:54From these worthless things
18:56To the living God
18:57Who made the heaven
18:58The earth and the sea
19:00And everything that is in them
19:03In past generations
19:05He allowed all the nations
19:07To go their own ways
19:08And yet he did not leave himself
19:09Without a witness
19:10By doing good
19:12By giving you rain from heaven
19:14And fruitful seasons
19:17Satisfying you with food
19:18And filling your hearts
19:20With joy
19:23Even by saying these things
19:25They barely persuaded the crowds
19:27Not to offer sacrifice
19:29To them
19:32But Jews came from Antioch and Iconium
19:37And after winning the crowd over
19:38They stoned Paul
19:39And dragged him out of the city
19:41Presuming him to be dead
19:44But after the disciples
19:46Had surrounded him
19:47He got up and went back
19:49Into the city
19:51And on the next day
19:52He left
19:53With Barnabas
19:54For Derbe
19:59After they had proclaimed
20:00The good news in that city
20:01And made many disciples
20:03They returned to Lystra
20:05To Iconium
20:06And to Antioch
20:08Strengthening the souls
20:09Of the disciples
20:10And encouraging them
20:12To continue in the faith
20:13Saying
20:14We must enter the kingdom of God
20:16Through many persecutions
20:20When they had appointed elders
20:22For them in the various churches
20:23With prayer and fasting
20:25They entrusted them
20:27To the protection of the Lord
20:28In whom they had believed
20:31Then they passed through Pisidia
20:34And came to Pamphylia
20:35Where they had spoken the word
20:37In Perga
20:39There they went down
20:40To Atalia
20:41And from there
20:42They sailed back
20:43To Antioch
20:44Where they had been
20:45Commended to the grace of God
20:47By the grace of God
20:48For the work
20:49They had now completed
20:53When they arrived
20:54And gathered the church together
20:55They reported
20:56All the things
20:57That God had done with them
20:59And that he had opened
21:00A door of faith
21:01For the Gentiles
21:03And so they spent
21:04Considerable time
21:06With the disciples
21:08This is the word
21:10Of the Lord
21:11Thanks be to God
21:27Now according to your word
21:29Sovereign Lord
21:30Permit your servant
21:31To depart in peace
21:33For my eyes have seen
21:35Your salvation
21:36That you have prepared
21:38In the presence of all peoples
21:41A light for revelation
21:43To the Gentiles
21:44And for glory
21:46To your people Israel
21:49Glory be to the Father
21:51And to the Son
21:52And to the Holy Spirit
21:53As it was in the beginning
21:55Is now and ever shall be
21:57World without end
22:00Amen
22:05I believe in God
22:06The Father Almighty
22:08Maker of heaven and earth
22:10And in Jesus Christ
22:12His only Son
22:12Our Lord
22:13Who was conceived
22:16By the Holy Spirit
22:17Born of the Virgin Mary
22:19Suffered unto Pontius Pilate
22:22Was crucified
22:24Dead and buried
22:25He descended into hell
22:28On the third day
22:29He rose again
22:30From the dead
22:32He ascended into heaven
22:34And is sitting
22:35At the right hand
22:36Of God
22:37The Father Almighty
22:39From there
22:40He shall come
22:40To judge the living
22:41And the dead
22:44I believe in the Holy Spirit
22:45The Holy Catholic Church
22:47The communion of saints
22:49The forgiveness of sins
22:51The resurrection of the body
22:54And the life everlasting
22:57Amen
23:02The Lord be with you
23:05And with your spirit
23:09Let us pray
23:12Lord have mercy upon us
23:16Christ have mercy upon us
23:20Lord have mercy upon us
23:27Our Father
23:28Who is in heaven
23:30Holy is your name
23:33May your kingdom come
23:35May your will be done
23:37On earth as it is in heaven
23:40Give us this day
23:41Our daily bread
23:42Forgive us our trespasses
23:44As we forgive those
23:46Who trespass against us
23:49Lead us not into temptation
23:51But deliver us from evil
23:54For yours is the kingdom
23:57The power and the glory
23:59Forever and ever
24:01Amen
24:07O Lord show your mercy upon us
24:09And grant us your salvation
24:16Protect and guide those in authority over us
24:20And mercifully hear us when we call upon you
24:26Endure your ministers with righteousness
24:30And make your chosen people joyful
24:35O Lord save your people
24:37And bless your inheritance
24:43Give peace in our time
24:45O Lord
24:47Because there is none other who fights for us
24:50But only you
24:51O God
24:53O God make clean our hearts within us
24:58And take not your Holy Spirit from us
25:09Let us pray
25:13O God
25:14The strength of all who put their trust in you
25:18Mercifully accept our prayers
25:20And because through the weakness of our mortal nature
25:24We can do no good thing without you
25:26Grant us the help of your grace
25:29That in keeping your commandments
25:32We may please you
25:33Both in will and deed
25:35Through Jesus Christ our Lord
25:38Amen
25:47O God
25:48From whom all holy desires
25:51All good counsels
25:53And all just works proceed
25:55Give to your servants that peace
25:58Which the world cannot give
26:00That our hearts may be set to obey your commandments
26:04And also that by you
26:07We being defended from the fear of our enemies
26:11May pass our time in rest and quietness
26:14Through the merits of Jesus Christ our Saviour
26:19Amen
26:24Lighten our darkness we beseech you O Lord
26:27And by your great mercy defend us all
