00:17When a wicked person turns from the wickedness he has committed, and does what is just and right, he will
00:26preserve his life.
00:30For I am aware of my rebellious acts, I am forever conscious of my sin.
00:39Hide your face from my sins, wipe away all my guilt.
00:47The sacrifices God desires are a humble spirit, O God, a humble and repentant heart you will not reject.
01:01Dearly beloved brothers and sisters, the scripture moves us in sundry places to acknowledge and confess our many sins and
01:10wickedness.
01:12We should not justify nor hide them before the face of Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, but confess them with
01:20a humble, lowly, penitent and obedient heart.
01:24To the end that we may obtain forgiveness of the same, by his infinite goodness and mercy.
01:35Although we ought always to humbly acknowledge our sins before God, we should do this particularly when we assemble and
01:43meet together,
01:44to give thanks for the great benefits we have received at his hands.
01:48To give him most worthy praise, to hear his most holy word, and to ask those things which are truly
01:57necessary, as well for the body as the soul.
02:02Therefore I pray and ask you, who are present here today, to accompany me with a pure heart and humble
02:09voice to the throne of the heavenly grace, as we say together.
02:16Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep.
02:23We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts.
02:29We have offended against your holy laws.
02:32We have failed to do those things which we ought to have done, and we have done things which we
02:39ought not to have done.
02:44But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable sinners.
02:49Spare those, O God, who confess their faults.
02:53Restore those who are truly penitent, according to your promises declared to mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord.
03:03Grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to
03:12the glory of your holy name. Amen.
03:18Grant, we beseech you, merciful Lord, to your faithful people, pardon and peace,
03:24that they may be cleansed from all their sins, and serve you with a quiet mind, through Jesus Christ our
03:32Lord. Amen.
03:38Our Father, who is in heaven, hallowed be your name.
03:43Your kingdom come, your will be done, in earth as it is in heaven.
03:49Give us this day our daily bread.
03:52Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
03:59Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
04:05For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
04:15O Lord, open our lips, and our mouths shall sing out your praise.
04:23O God, make speed to save us.
04:27O Lord, make haste to help us.
04:33Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
04:39as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
04:43world without end.
04:45Amen.
04:48Praise the Lord.
04:50The Lord's name be praised.
04:57Psalm 106
05:00Praise the Lord.
05:02Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, and his loyal love endures.
05:07Who can adequately recount the Lord's mighty acts,
05:11or relate all his praiseworthy deeds?
05:15How blessed are those who promote justice, and do what is right, all the time.
05:22Remember me, O Lord, when you show favor to your people.
05:25Pay attention to me when you deliver,
05:28so that I may see the prosperity of your chosen ones,
05:32rejoice along with your nation,
05:34and boast along with the people who belong to you.
05:38We have sinned like our ancestors.
05:41We have done wrong.
05:42We have done evil.
05:45Our ancestors in Egypt failed to appreciate your miraculous deeds.
05:50They failed to remember your many acts of loyal love,
05:53and they rebelled at the sea, by the Red Sea.
05:58Yet, he delivered them for the sake of his reputation,
06:02that he might reveal his power.
06:04He shouted at the Red Sea, and dried up.
06:08He led them through the deep water, as if it were a desert.
06:11He delivered them from the power of the one who hated them,
06:16rescued them from the power of the enemy.
06:20The water covered their enemies.
06:22Not even one of them survived.
06:26They believed his promises.
06:28They sang praises to him.
06:31They quickly forgot what he had done.
06:34They did not wait for his instructions.
06:37In the wilderness, they had an insatiable craving for meat.
06:41They challenged God in the wastelands.
06:45He granted their request,
06:48then struck them with a disease.
06:51In the camp, they resented Moses and Aaron,
06:55the Lord's holy priest.
06:58The earth opened up and swallowed Dathan.
07:01It engulfed the group led by Abiram.
07:05Fire burned their group.
07:08The flames scorched the wicked.
07:11They made an image of a calf at Horeb
07:13and worshipped a metal idol.
07:15They traded their majestic God
07:18for the image of an ox that eats grass.
07:21They rejected the God who delivered them,
07:24the one who performed great deeds in Egypt,
07:27amazing feats in the land of Ham,
07:31mighty acts by the Red Sea.
07:34He threatened to destroy them.
07:37But Moses, his chosen one,
07:39interceded with him and turned back his destructive anger.
07:44They rejected the fruitful land.
07:47They did not believe his promise.
07:50They grumbled in their tents.
07:52They did not obey the Lord.
07:55So he made a solemn vow that he would make them die in the wilderness,
07:59make their descendants die among the nations
08:02and scattered them amongst foreign lands.
08:05They worshipped Baal of Peor and ate sacrifices offered to the dead.
08:12They made the Lord angry by their actions
08:15and a plague broke out among them.
08:19Phinehas took a stand and intervened
08:21and the plague subsided.
08:24This was credited to him as a righteous act
08:27for all generations to come.
08:31They made him angry by the waters of Meribah
08:34and Moses suffered because of them.
08:37For they aroused his temple
08:39and he spoke rashly.
08:42They did not destroy the nations
08:45as the Lord had commanded them to do.
08:47They mixed in with the nations
08:49and learnt their ways.
08:51They worshipped their idols
08:53which became a snare to them.
08:55They sacrificed their sons and daughters to demons.
09:00They shed innocent blood,
09:01the blood of their sons and daughters
09:03whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan.
09:08The land was polluted by bloodshed.
09:12They were defiled by their deeds
09:14and unfaithful in their actions.
09:17So the Lord was angry with his people
09:20and despised the people
09:21who belonged to him.
09:23He handed them over to the nations
09:25and those who hated them ruled over them.
09:29Their enemies oppressed them.
09:31They were subject to their authority.
09:35Many times he delivered them
09:37but they had a rebellious attitude
09:39and degraded themselves by their sin.
09:43Yet he took notice of their distress
09:46when he heard their cry for help.
09:49He remembered his covenant with them
09:51and relented because of his great loyal love.
09:56He caused all their conquerors
09:58to have pity on them.
10:01Deliver us, O Lord, our God.
10:04Gather us from among the nations.
10:05Then we will give thanks to your holy name
10:09and boast of your praiseworthy deeds.
10:12The Lord God of Israel deserves praise
10:15in the future and for evermore.
10:18Let all the people say,
10:20We agree.
10:21Praise the Lord.
10:24Glory be to the Father and to the Son
10:27and to the Holy Spirit
10:28as it was in the beginning,
10:30is now and ever shall be,
10:33world without end.
10:35Amen.
10:43The Book of Nehemiah, Chapter 2
10:48Then in the month of Nisan,
10:50in the twentieth year of King Artaxerxes,
10:53when wine was brought to me,
10:55I took the wine and gave it to the king.
10:59Previously I had not been depressed
11:01in the king's presence.
11:04So the king said to me,
11:06Why do you appear to be depressed
11:08when you aren't sick?
11:09What can this be
11:11other than the great sadness of heart?
11:14This made me very fearful.
11:18I replied to the king,
11:20O king, live forever.
11:23Why would I not appear dejected
11:26when the city with the graves of my ancestors
11:29lies desolate
11:30and its gates destroyed by fire?
11:35The king responded,
11:37What is it you are seeking?
11:42Then I prayed quickly to the God of heaven
11:44and said to the king,
11:46If the king is so inclined
11:49and if your servant has found favour
11:51in your sight,
11:53dispatch me to Judah,
11:55to the city with the graves of my ancestors,
11:58that I may rebuild it.
12:04Then the king,
12:05with his consul sitting beside him,
12:07replied,
12:09How long would your trip take
12:11and when would you return?
12:15Since the king was amenable
12:16to dispatching me,
12:17I gave him a time
12:18and I said,
12:20If the king is so inclined,
12:21let him give me letters
12:23for the governors of trans-Euphrates
12:26that will enable me
12:27to travel safely
12:28until I reach Judah
12:30and a letter for Asaph,
12:33the keeper of the king's nature preserve,
12:35so that he will give me timber
12:37for beams
12:38for the gates of the fortress
12:40adjacent to the temple
12:41and for the city wall
12:43and for the house to which I go.
12:47So the king granted me these requests
12:50for the good hand of my God
12:52was upon me.
12:56Then I went to the governors
12:58of trans-Euphrates
12:59and I presented to them
13:01the letters from the king.
13:03The king had sent with me
13:05officers of the army and horsemen.
13:10When Sanballat the Horonite
13:12and Tobiah the Ammonite official
13:15heard all this,
13:17they were displeased
13:18that someone had come
13:19to seek benefit
13:20for the Israelites.
13:24And so I came to Jerusalem.
13:27When I had been there
13:28three days,
13:29I got up during the night
13:31along with a few men
13:32who were with me.
13:34But I did not tell anyone
13:36what God had put in my heart
13:37to do for Jerusalem.
13:41There were no animals with me
13:42except for the one
13:43I was riding.
13:45I proceeded through the valley gate
13:47by night
13:48in the direction of the well
13:50of the dragons
13:51and the dung gate
13:53inspecting the walls
13:54of Jerusalem
13:55that had been breached
13:56and its gates
13:58that had been destroyed
13:59by fire.
14:02When I passed
14:03to the gate of the well
14:04and the king's pool
14:05where there was not enough room
14:07for my animal
14:08to pass with me,
14:10I continued up the valley
14:12during the night
14:13inspecting the wall.
14:16Then I turned back
14:17and came to the valley gate
14:19and so returned.
14:22The officials did not know
14:24where I had gone
14:25or what I had been doing
14:27for up to this point
14:28I had not told any
14:29of the Jews
14:30or the priests
14:30or the nobles
14:32or the officials
14:32or the rest of the workers.
14:36Then I said to them,
14:38You see the problem
14:40that we have.
14:42Jerusalem is desolate
14:43and its gates are burnt.
14:46Come on,
14:47let us rebuild
14:48the wall of Jerusalem
14:50that this reproach
14:51will not continue.
14:56Then I related to them
14:57how the good hand
14:58of my God was upon me
15:00and what the king
15:00had said to me.
15:04Then they replied,
15:05Let us begin rebuilding
15:07right away.
15:10And so they readied themselves
15:11for this good project.
15:15But when Sanballat
15:17the Horonite,
15:18Tobiah the Ammonite
15:20and Geshem the Arab
15:21heard all this
15:22they derided us
15:23and expressed contempt
15:25towards us.
15:26They said,
15:27What is this
15:28that you are doing?
15:29Are you rebelling
15:31against the king?
15:32I responded to them
15:34by saying,
15:36The God of heaven
15:36will prosper us.
15:39We his servants
15:40will start the rebuilding.
15:42But you have no just
15:45or ancient right
15:46in Jerusalem.
15:49This is the word
15:50of the Lord.
15:52Thanks be to God.
15:54Amen.
16:06Mary said,
16:08My soul exalts the Lord
16:10and my spirit
16:12has begun to rejoice
16:13in God my Saviour
16:15because he has looked
16:17upon the humble state
16:18of his servant.
16:21For from now on
16:22all generations
16:23will call me blessed
16:24because he who is mighty
16:27has done great things
16:28for me
16:29and holy is his name.
16:32From generation
16:33to generation
16:34he is merciful
16:35to those who fear him.
16:38He has demonstrated
16:40power with his arm.
16:42He has scattered
16:43those whose pride
16:44wells up
16:45from the sheer arrogance
16:46of their hearts.
16:48He has brought down
16:49the mighty
16:50from their thrones
16:51and has lifted up
16:52those of lowly position.
16:54He has filled
16:55the hungry
16:56with good things
16:57and has sent
16:58the rich away empty.
17:01He has helped
17:02his servant Israel
17:03remembering his mercy
17:05as he promised
17:07to our ancestors
17:08to Abraham
17:09and to his descendants
17:11for ever.
17:13Glory be to the Father
17:15and to the Son
17:16and to the Holy Spirit
17:18as it was in the beginning
17:20is now
17:21and ever shall be
17:22world without end.
17:25Amen.
17:34The second epistle
17:36of St. Peter
17:37chapter 1
17:40Simon Peter
17:41a servant
17:42and apostle
17:43of Jesus Christ
17:44to those who
17:46with us
17:47have a part
17:48in the same holy faith
17:49in the righteousness
17:50of our God
17:51and Saviour
17:52Jesus Christ
17:55may grace and peace
17:57ever be increasing
17:58in you
17:59in the knowledge
18:00of God
18:00and of Jesus
18:01our Lord
18:02because by his power
18:04he has given us
18:05every necessity
18:06for life
18:07and righteousness
18:09through the knowledge
18:11of him
18:12who has been
18:12our guide
18:13by his glory
18:14and virtue.
18:16Through this
18:17he has given us
18:18the hope
18:19of great rewards
18:20highly to be valued
18:22that by them
18:23we might have
18:24our part
18:24in God's being
18:25being made free
18:27from the destruction
18:28which is in the world
18:30through the desires
18:31of the flesh.
18:34So for this very cause
18:36take every care
18:37joining virtue
18:39to faith
18:39knowledge
18:40to virtue
18:41self-control
18:43to knowledge
18:43a quiet mind
18:46to self-control
18:47fear of God
18:49to a quiet mind
18:51love of the brothers
18:52to fear of God
18:53and to love
18:54of the brothers
18:56love itself
18:59for if you have
19:00these things
19:00in good measure
19:01they will make you
19:02fertile
19:03and full of fruit
19:04in the knowledge
19:05of our Lord
19:06Jesus Christ.
19:09The man
19:10who has not
19:11these things
19:12is blind
19:12seeing only
19:14what is near
19:14having no memory
19:16of how he was
19:17made clean
19:18from his old sins
19:21for this reason
19:22my brothers
19:23take all the more
19:24care to make
19:25your selection
19:25and approval
19:27certain
19:28for if you do
19:30these things
19:30you will never
19:31have a fall
19:32so the way
19:33will be open
19:34to you
19:35into the eternal
19:36kingdom
19:37of our Lord
19:38and Saviour
19:39Jesus Christ
19:41for this reason
19:42I will be ready
19:43at all times
19:44to keep your memory
19:45of these things
19:46awake
19:48though you
19:48have the knowledge
19:49of them now
19:50and are well
19:51based in your
19:52present faith
19:55it seems right
19:56to me
19:57as long as
19:57I am in
19:58this tent of flesh
19:59to keep your
20:00minds awake
20:01by working
20:02on your memory
20:04for I am
20:05conscious
20:06that in a short
20:06time
20:07I will have to
20:08put off
20:08this tent of flesh
20:09as our Lord
20:10Jesus Christ
20:11has made clear
20:12to me
20:14I will take
20:15every care
20:15so that you
20:16may have a
20:16clear memory
20:17of these things
20:18after my death
20:21when we gave
20:22you news
20:23of the power
20:23and the coming
20:24of our Lord
20:24Jesus Christ
20:25our teaching
20:26was not based
20:27on stories
20:28put together
20:28by art
20:30but we were
20:31eyewitnesses
20:32of his glory
20:34God the Father
20:35gave him
20:36honour
20:36and glory
20:37when such a voice
20:38came to him
20:39out of the great
20:40glory saying
20:41this is my
20:43dearly beloved
20:43son with whom
20:45I am well pleased
20:48this voice
20:49came from heaven
20:50even to our
20:51ears
20:52when we were
20:53with him
20:53on the holy
20:54mountain
20:55and so the
20:56words of the
20:57prophets
20:57are made
20:58more certain
21:00it is well
21:01for you
21:01to give
21:02attention
21:02to them
21:03as to a light
21:04shining in a
21:05dark place
21:05until the dawn
21:07comes
21:07and the morning
21:08star is seen
21:10in your hearts
21:11being conscious
21:12in the first
21:13place
21:13that no man
21:15by himself
21:15may give a
21:16special sense
21:17to the works
21:18of the words
21:19of the prophets
21:22these words
21:23did not ever
21:23come through
21:24the impulse
21:24of men
21:25but the prophets
21:26had them
21:27from God
21:28being moved
21:29by the Holy
21:30Spirit
21:32this is the
21:33word of the
21:34Lord
21:35thanks be
21:36to God
21:48now according
21:49to your word
21:50sovereign
21:50Lord
21:51permit your
21:52servant
21:52to depart
21:53in peace
21:54for my eyes
21:56have seen
21:56your salvation
21:57that you
21:58have prepared
21:59in the presence
22:00of all peoples
22:01a light
22:03for revelation
22:04to the Gentiles
22:05and for glory
22:07to your people
22:08Israel
22:10glory be to the
22:11Father and to the
22:12Son and to the
22:13Holy Spirit
22:14as it was in the
22:16beginning is now
22:17and ever shall be
22:18world without end
22:20Amen
22:26I believe in God
22:28the Father
22:28Almighty
22:29maker of heaven
22:30and earth
