00:17When a wicked person turns from the wickedness he has committed, and does what is just and right, he will
00:26preserve his life.
00:30For I am aware of my rebellious acts, I am forever conscious of my sin.
00:39Hide your face from my sins, wipe away all my guilt.
00:47The sacrifices God desires are a humble spirit, O God, a humble and repentant heart you will not reject.
01:01Dearly beloved brothers and sisters, the scripture moves us in sundry places to acknowledge and confess our many sins and
01:10wickedness.
01:12We should not justify nor hide them before the face of Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, but confess them with
01:20a humble, lowly, penitent and obedient heart.
01:24To the end that we may obtain forgiveness of the same, by his infinite goodness and mercy.
01:35Although we ought always to humbly acknowledge our sins before God, we should do this particularly when we assemble and
01:43meet together,
01:44to give thanks for the great benefits we have received at his hands.
01:48To give him most worthy praise, to hear his most holy word, and to ask those things which are truly
01:57necessary as well for the body as the soul.
02:02Therefore I pray and ask you, who are present here today, to accompany me with a pure heart and humble
02:09voice to the throne of the heavenly grace, as we say together.
02:16Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep.
02:23We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts.
02:29We have offended against your holy laws.
02:32We have failed to do those things which we ought to have done, and we have done things which we
02:39ought not to have done.
02:44But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable sinners.
02:49Spare those, O God, who confess their faults.
02:53Restore those who are truly penitent, according to your promises declared to mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord.
03:03Grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to
03:12the glory of your holy name. Amen.
03:18Grant, we beseech you, merciful Lord, to your faithful people, pardon and peace, that they may be cleansed from all
03:26their sins, and serve you with a quiet mind, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
03:38Our Father, who is in heaven, hallowed be your name.
03:43Your kingdom come, your will be done, in earth as it is in heaven.
03:50Give us this day our daily bread.
03:53Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
03:59Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
04:05For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever.
04:10Amen.
04:15O Lord, open our lips, and our mouths shall sing out your praise.
04:23O God, make speed to save us.
04:27O Lord, make haste to help us.
04:33Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
04:39As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
04:45Amen.
04:48Praise the Lord.
04:51The Lord's name be praised.
04:59Praise the Lord, for it is good to sing praises to our God.
05:05Yes, praise is pleasant and appropriate.
05:09The Lord rebuilds Jerusalem, and gathers the exiles of Israel.
05:15He heals the brokenhearted, and bandages their wounds.
05:20He counts the number of the stars.
05:23He names all of them.
05:26The Lord is great, and has awesome power.
05:29There is no limit to his wisdom.
05:32The Lord lifts up the oppressed, but knocks the wicked to the ground.
05:39Offer to the Lord a song of thanks.
05:42Sing praises to our God, to the accompaniment of a harp.
05:48He covers the sky with clouds, provides the earth with rain, and causes grass to grow on the hillsides.
05:56He gives food to the animals, and to the young ravens when they chirp.
06:02He is not enamored with the strength of a horse, nor is he impressed by the warrior's strong legs.
06:10The Lord takes delight in his faithful followers, and in those who wait for his loyal love.
06:17Extol the Lord, O Jerusalem.
06:20Praise your God, O Zion.
06:37He sends the snow, that is white like wool.
06:48He spreads the frost, that is white like ashes.
06:52He throws his hailstones like crumbs.
06:56Who can withstand the cold wind he sends?
07:00He then orders it all to melt.
07:02He breathes on it, and the water flows.
07:06He proclaims his word to Jacob.
07:09His statutes and regulations to Israel.
07:13He has not done so with any other nation.
07:16They are not aware of his regulations.
07:20Praise the Lord.
07:22Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
07:27As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be.
07:31World without end.
07:33Amen.
07:41Psalm 148
07:44Praise the Lord.
07:45Praise the Lord from the sky.
07:48Praise him in the heavens.
07:50Praise him, all his angels.
07:53Praise him, all his heavenly assembly.
07:57Praise him, O sun and moon.
07:59Praise him, all you shiny stars.
08:03Praise him, O highest heaven, and you waters above the sky.
08:08Let them praise the name of the Lord, for he gave the command, and they came into existence.
08:16He established them, so that they would endure.
08:19He issued a decree that will not be revoked.
08:24Praise the Lord from the earth, you sea creatures and all you ocean depths.
08:29O fire and hail, snow and clouds.
08:32O stormy wind that carries out his orders.
08:36You mountains and all you hills.
08:38You fruit trees and all you cedars.
08:41You animals and all you cattle.
08:44You creeping things and birds.
08:47You kings of the earth and all you nations.
08:51You princes and all you leaders on the earth.
08:54You young men and young women.
08:56You elderly along with your children.
08:59Let them praise the name of the Lord, for his name alone is exalted.
09:04His majesty extends over earth and sky.
09:10He has made his people victorious and given all his loyal followers reason to praise.
09:18The Israelites, the people who are close to him, praise the Lord, glory be to the Father, and to the
09:27Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without
09:35end.
09:36Amen.
09:40Psalm 149
09:43Praise the Lord, sing to the Lord a new song, praise him in the assembly of the godly.
09:50Let Israel rejoice in their Creator, let the people of Zion delight in their King.
09:56Let them praise his name with dancing.
09:59Let them sing praises to him, to the accompaniment of the tambourine and harp.
10:06For the Lord takes delight in his people.
10:09He exalts the oppressed by delivering them.
10:13Let the godly rejoice because of their vindication.
10:17Let them shout for joy upon their beds.
10:20May the praises of God be in their mouths and a two-edged sword in their hands, in order to
10:28take revenge on the nations and punish foreigners.
10:32They bind their kings in chains and their nobles in iron shackles, and execute the judgment to which the enemies
10:40have been sentenced.
10:42All his loyal followers will be vindicated.
10:46Praise the Lord.
10:49Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning,
10:55is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
11:00Amen.
11:04Psalm 150
11:07Praise the Lord, praise God in his sanctuary, praise him in the sky, which testifies to his strength.
11:15Praise him for his mighty acts.
11:18Praise him for his surpassing greatness.
11:21Praise him with the blast of the horn.
11:24Praise him with the lyre and the harp.
11:27Praise him with the tambourine and with dancing.
11:31Praise him with stringed instruments and a flute.
11:35Praise him with loud cymbals.
11:38Praise him with clanging cymbals.
11:42Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.
11:46Praise the Lord.
11:48Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
11:53as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
11:59Amen.
12:07Book of Job, chapter 2
12:11Again, the day came when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord,
12:16and Satan also arrived among them to present himself before the Lord.
12:22The Lord said to Satan,
12:24Where do you come from?
12:27Satan answered the Lord,
12:30From roving around on the earth and walking back and forth across it.
12:35Then the Lord said to Satan,
12:38Have you considered my servant Job?
12:40For there is no one like him on the earth, a pure and upright man,
12:44one who fears God and turns away from evil.
12:48And he still holds firmly to his integrity,
12:51so that you stirred me up to destroy him without reason.
12:58But Satan answered the Lord,
13:00Skin for skin.
13:02Indeed, a man will give up all that he has to save his life.
13:07But extend your hand and strike his bone and his flesh,
13:10and he will no doubt curse you to your face.
13:15So the Lord said to Satan,
13:18All right, he is in your power.
13:21Only preserve his life.
13:26So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord,
13:29and he afflicted Job with a malignant ulcer
13:32from the sole of his feet to the top of his head.
13:36Job took a shard of broken pottery
13:38to scrape himself with
13:40while he was sitting among the ashes.
13:45Then his wife said to him,
13:47Are you still holding firmly to your integrity?
13:51Curse God and die.
13:54But he replied,
13:56You are talking like one of the godless women would do.
14:00Should we receive what is good from God,
14:02and not also receive what is evil?
14:06In all this, Job did not sin by what he said.
14:13When Job's three friends heard about this calamity that happened to him,
14:17each of them came from his own country.
14:21Eliphaz the Temanite,
14:23Bildad the Shuhite,
14:24and Zophar the Nehmanite.
14:28They met together to come to show sympathy for him
14:31and to console him.
14:34But when they gazed intently from a distance but did not recognise him,
14:39they began to weep loudly.
14:42Each of them tore his robes,
14:43and they threw dust into the air over their heads.
14:47Then they sat down with him on the ground for seven days and seven nights,
14:52and yet no one spoke a word to him,
14:55for they saw that his pain was very great.
15:00This is the word of the Lord.
15:03Thanks be to God.
15:17Mary said,
15:18My soul exalts the Lord,
15:21and my spirit has begun to rejoice in God my Saviour,
15:25because he has looked upon the humble state of his servant.
15:31For from now on all generations will call me blessed,
15:35because he who is mighty has done great things for me,
15:39and holy is his name.
15:42From generation to generation he is merciful to those who fear him.
15:48He has demonstrated power with his arm.
15:52He has scattered those whose pride wells up from the sheer arrogance of their hearts.
15:58He has brought down the mighty from their thrones,
16:01and has lifted up those of lowly position.
16:04He has filled the hungry with good things,
16:07and has sent the rich away empty.
16:11He has helped his servant Israel,
16:14remembering his mercy,
16:16as he promised to our ancestors,
16:19to Abraham,
16:20and to his descendants for ever.
16:24Glory be to the Father,
16:26and to the Son,
16:26and to the Holy Spirit,
16:28as it was in the beginning,
16:30is now,
16:31and ever shall be,
16:33world without end.
16:35Amen.
16:45The first epistle of St. John,
16:47chapters 3 and 4
16:51My little children,
16:52do not let our love be in word and in tongue,
16:56but let it be in act and in good faith.
17:00In this way we may be certain that we are true,
17:03and may give our heart comfort before him,
17:06when our heart says that we have done wrong.
17:10Because God is greater than our heart,
17:12and has knowledge of all things.
17:16My beloved ones,
17:17if our heart does not say that we have done wrong,
17:20we have no fear before him.
17:23He gives us all our requests,
17:25because we keep his laws,
17:27and we do the things which are pleasing in his eyes.
17:32This is the law,
17:34that we have faith in the name of his Son,
17:36Jesus Christ,
17:37and have love for one another,
17:39even as he said to us,
17:42He who keeps his laws is in God,
17:45and God is in him.
17:48The Spirit which he gave us
17:50is our witness that he is in us.
17:54My beloved ones,
17:56do not put your faith in every spirit,
17:58but put them to the test
17:59to see if they are from God,
18:02because a great number of false prophets
18:05are about in the world.
18:08By this you may have knowledge of the Spirit of God.
18:12Every spirit which says that Jesus Christ
18:14has come in the flesh of God,
18:17every spirit which does not say
18:20this is not from God.
18:24This is the Spirit of Antichrist,
18:27of which you have had word,
18:29and it is in the world even now.
18:37You are of God,
18:40my little children,
18:41and you have overcome them,
18:43because he who is in you
18:44is greater than he who is in the world.
18:48They are of the world,
18:50so their talk is the world's talk,
18:52and the world gives ear to them.
18:56We are of God.
18:58He who has the knowledge of God
19:00gives ear to us.
19:02He who is not of God
19:04does not give ear to us.
19:07By this we may see
19:09which is the true spirit
19:11and which is the spirit of error.
19:15My beloved ones,
19:17let us have love for one another,
19:19because love is of God,
19:21and everyone who has love
19:23is a child of God,
19:25having knowledge of love.
19:29This is the word of the Lord.
19:32Thanks be to God.
19:44Now, according to your word,
19:47Sovereign Lord,
19:48permit your servant
19:49to depart in peace.
19:51For my eyes have seen
19:53your salvation
19:54that you have prepared
19:56in the presence of all peoples,
19:59a light for revelation
20:01to the Gentiles
20:02and for glory
20:03to your people Israel.
20:07Glory be to the Father
20:09and to the Son
20:10and to the Holy Spirit,
20:11as it was in the beginning,
20:13is now and ever shall be,
20:15world without end.
20:17Amen.
20:23I believe in God,
20:24the Father Almighty,
20:26maker of heaven and earth,
20:28and in Jesus Christ,
20:30his only Son,
20:31our Lord,
20:32who was conceived
20:33by the Holy Spirit,
20:35born of the Virgin Mary,
20:37suffered unto Pontius Pilate,
20:40was crucified,
20:42dead,
20:43and buried.
20:44He descended into hell.
20:46On the third day
20:47he rose again from the dead.
20:50He ascended into heaven
20:52and is sitting
20:53at the right hand of God,
20:54the Father Almighty.
20:57From there he shall come
20:58to judge the living
20:59and the dead.
21:02I believe in the Holy Spirit,
21:04the Holy Catholic Church,
21:06the communion of saints,
21:07the forgiveness of sins,
21:10the resurrection of the body,
21:12and the life everlasting.
21:14Amen.
21:20The Lord be with you
21:23and with your spirit.
21:27Let us pray.
21:30Lord, have mercy upon us.
21:34Christ, have mercy upon us.
21:38Lord, have mercy upon us.
21:45Our Father,
21:46who is in heaven,
21:48holy is your name.
21:51May your kingdom come.
21:53May your will be done
21:55on earth as it is in heaven.
21:58Give us this day
21:59our daily bread.
22:00Forgive us our trespasses,
22:03as we forgive those
22:04who trespass against us.
22:07Lead us not into temptation,
22:09but deliver us from evil.
22:12For yours is the kingdom,
22:15the power and the glory,
22:17for ever and ever.
22:20Amen.
22:25O Lord, show your mercy upon us
22:27and grant us your salvation.
22:33Protect and guide those
22:35in authority over us
22:38and mercifully hear us
22:40when we call upon you.
22:44Endue your ministers
22:45with righteousness
22:47and make your chosen people
22:50joyful.
22:53O Lord, save your people
22:56and bless your inheritance.
23:01Give peace in our time,
23:03O Lord,
23:05because there is none other
23:06who fights for us
23:07but only you, O God.
23:11O God, make clean
23:13our hearts within us
23:16and take not your Holy Spirit
23:18from us.
23:26Let us pray.
23:30O God, the protector
23:31of all that trust in you,
23:33without whom nothing is strong,
23:35nothing is holy,
23:37increase and multiply upon us
23:40your mercy,
23:41that you being our ruler and guide,
23:43we may so pass through
23:45things temporal,
23:46as we finally lose not
23:48the things eternal.
23:50Grant this, O Heavenly Father,
23:52for their Jesus Christ's sake,
23:54our Lord.
23:56Amen.
24:04O God,
24:05from whom all holy desires,
24:08all good counsels
24:09and all just works
24:11proceed,
24:12give to your servants
24:14that peace
24:14which the world cannot give,
24:17that our hearts
24:18may be set to obey
24:20your commandments,
24:21and also that,
24:23by you,
24:24we, being defended
24:26from the fear
24:26of our enemies,
24:28may pass our time
24:29in rest and quietness,
24:32through the merits
24:33of Jesus Christ,
24:34our Saviour.
24:35Amen.
24:41Lighten our darkness,
24:42we beseech you,
24:43O Lord,
24:44and by your great mercy
24:46defend us all
24:47from perils
24:48and dangers
24:49of this night.
24:51For the love
24:52of your only Son,
24:53our Saviour,
24:54Jesus Christ.
24:56Amen.
25:00Almighty God,
25:01who has given us grace
25:02at this time
25:03with one accord
25:04to make our common
25:06supplications to you,
25:08and promises
25:09that when two or three
25:10are gathered together
25:11in your name,
25:12you will grant
25:14their requests.
25:16Fulfill now,
25:18O Lord,
25:18the desires
25:19and petitions
25:20of your servants,
25:22as may be most beneficial
25:24for them,
25:26granting us
25:26in this world
25:27knowledge of your truth
25:29and in the world
25:31to come
25:31life everlasting.
25:34Amen.
25:37With the grace
25:38of our Lord Jesus Christ
25:39and the love of God
25:40and the fellowship
25:42of the Holy Spirit,
25:43be with us all
25:45evermore.
25:46Amen.
